The Hunt is a compelling read that had me not wanting to put the book down.
Although it is Book 3 in the series, I easily read it as a standalone but will definitely go back and read the first two in the series.
Erica Hunt is not only a detective she is the daughter of a serial killer who has escaped from prison.
Though his lawyer says he is dead and she inherits his estate, Erica does not believe it.
The police do it is up to Erica to invesitgate and the she is racing against the clock.
A parallel story that you know at some point will come together ( intriguing) has a journalist investigating a massive finacial fraud and Erica is convinced this is related to her dad.
Twists and turns and a ending I did not see coming left me wanting more . (cant wait for Book 4) .
Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opporunity to read and review The Hunt and to introducing me to Erica Sands.

This story combines the chilling intrigue of a relentless serial killer with a high-stakes personal pursuit led by DCI Erica Sands, a determined detective haunted by her father's monstrous legacy.
Her dual role as a detective and the daughter of a notorious killer adds layers to her character, making her struggle deeply personal and relatable.
The book ends on a cliffhanger, which is frustratingly absent from the blurb. While cliffhangers can work well in certain narratives, not warning readers feels like a disservice, especially for those expecting resolution.
If you enjoy serial narratives or are prepared to wait for a sequel, you might find this book worth your time. For others, the lack of closure could be a deal-breaker.

This was a strong third entry in the DCI Erica Sands series, it had that feel that I was looking for from the previous two books. I was invested in what was going on and enjoyed the thriller concept. Gregg Dunnett has a strong writing style and thought the character worked with this universe. It left me wanting to read more and was glad I was able to read this.

Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read "The Hunt" in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is the third book in the Detective Erica Sands series. the book consists of 4 parts. The first part is DCI Erica Sands obsessing over her escaped father - Charles Robert Sterling, the high profile mass murderer who not only killed Erica's mother, sister and several young women but also Erica's Deputy DI john Lindham, his wife and their 2 children. Since his escape from prison they have no idea where he is. With Interpol agency Jonathan Briggs she wants to go to Brazil where she has tracked Barney Atkinson, the prison guard who helped plan Sterling's escape. Creating for him the new identity of David Smith. Lawyer Damien Reynolds arrives and tells Erica that Jeremy Collins has passed away in Hoi An, Vietnam, in reality it was Charles Sterling. Erica immediately senses a con, while all the evidence - dental, DNA say it was Sterling. Sterling has left her a massive inheritance.
The second part tells the story of reporter Pierre Cloarec from Le Monde in Paris. He is following a story linked to tax evasion. They feel Cloarec is in danger and send him to Plourec where no one will notice him. He meets an American Richard Brown. Cloarec is slightly suspicious of Brown because he claims to read Le Monde but isn't familiar with famous articles on serial killer Charles Sterling who died a year ago.
The third part tells the story of Charles Sterling and how he got to be where he is. The plans made by Atkinson that were never followed because he had plans of his own. With money he can arrange anything and everything. When he meets a reporter in Plourec he thinks that he will be exposed and he can't have that happen.
Part Four of the story has Erica giving notice at work and following her obsession with finding her father who she does not accept is dead. DS Luke Golding teams with reporter Clemence Girard who worked with Cloarec on the files. Sterling they realize used the law firm that they are investigating. So they follow the aliases, the money and put the pieces together.
The story ends with a cliffhanger with Erica once again in grave danger. According to author Dunnett there will be one last book in the series to tie the pieces together.

The Hunt is the third book in Dunnett's Erica Sands mystery series. While I have not read the first two, I was totally engaged and never felt at a loss.
In a nutshell, DCI Sands is the daughter of infamous serial killer, Charles Sterling. He is on the loose after escaping from a maximum security prison. The trail has gone cold and authorities have all but abandoned their search for him. Despite the lack of interest, Erica is determined to find him. While she is trying to piece together where he went after the escape, she is notified that he died in a Vietnamese clinic. He left her a generous portion of his ill- gotten fortune. She is the only one who believes he is still alive.
In the meantime, newspapers from several countries are working together to uncover a massive network of financial fraud. The Paris newspaper, Le Monde, is part of the investigation. Concerned about the welfare of their lead journalist, the editor sends him to a coastal village in France to work on the story. The tension picks up when he befriends a retired American diplomat living in the village.
You have to suspend belief for part of what transpires but it’s what makes the story a good read. The settings are rich as the investigation goes all over the world—Paris, Brazil, Vietnam, Brittany. And for the most part, the characters are believable. Left as a cliffhanger, I’m looking forward to the next book.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

The latest installment following police officer Erica Sands is a compelling and engaging follow up to The Cove. Whilst the novel could stand alone, having been introduced to the characters and their motivations in the earlier book was very helpful for context. Erica is unconvinced of her father's death and her frustration at the situation is written really well. The author does an excellent job at weaving the plots together leaving the reader gripped and turning the pages. A pacy read and WHAT A CLIFFHANGER - can't wait for the next one.

Thank you for the opportunity to preview The Hunt. This is a series book and I felt a bit behind without knowing the background.
Solid and I think fans like the main character because it’s a strong female lead. 3 stars

The Hunt is the latest DI Erica Sands installment by Gregg Dunnett. It’s quite the thrilling mystery and police procedural. The novel follows Detective Inspector Erica Sands as she investigates the prison break of her father, as well as his reported death, attributed to bowel cancer.
This book had me riveted from the first page. Initially, it was astonishment at how DI Sands could break down a case without even interviewing any suspects, just from asking the right questions. Then, her tracking down of her father showed her relentless doggedness in pursuit of justice. It was amazing how she saw through the lies and knew just the right angle to question those involved in the investigation.
That determination knew no bounds, which is eventually what gets her into trouble with her boss. Will she ever find out the truth?
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC!!

I think I would have enjoyed this book more knowing more of Erica's background from the previous books in the series. Spoiler: this one ends in a cliffhanger. I wonder if that is a theme for this author?
Thank you, NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was excellent. The plot was amazingly woven together in a seamless way. Different plot lines all interweaving with surprises and background falling into place as if a jigsaw. The characters were deeply thought through and came across powerfully with issues, backgrounds and a real texture to them. The mystery itself was an interesting one and it kept me hooked all the way through to see things played out and how the individually worked together or got out of the holes that they had dropped themselves into. There was pride and stubbornness and a lovely description of the Breton seascape that has stayed with me,
The books was great until the very very end. The ending is a real cliff hanger and ruined the read for me. I was invested in the characters and plot and wanted to know how the dice would land and how the characters would untie their fate. The ending left me incredibly frustrated and cross.

This is first book I have read by this author. DCI Erica Sands is determined to find her father who escaped prison. He is infamous serial killer. I liked how she followed clues to find him and watching her sleuth out where he is. I didn’t like that this ends on a cliffhanger as I prefer everything wrapped up.

The Hunt by Gregg Dunnett is a gripping, multi-faceted thriller that keeps you hooked from start to finish. Featuring varied points of view, the book gives you detailed and varied accounts of the non-stop action, and sweeps you along to the very end.
That said, I absolutely do not like cliff hangers, and had I known ahead of time that the book would end in one, I would have avoided it like the plague. As it was, I was tempted to throw my e-reader across the room when I reached the end.
For that reason, I won't be reading any more books by this author, despite his obvious skill at storytelling.
I do appreciate the advanced copy of #TheHunt from #NetGalley, regardless.

This was a great book!! it was full of lots of twists and turns, and it had so much going on! I did like how it was tense and suspenseful and made you feel like you were on the edge of the seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. I liked it a lot!!!
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complementary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

Gregg Dunnett's earlier book, The Cove, left me struck by his writing talent. The story saw the introduction of his character, police officer Erica Sands, whose choice of career was directly informed by the experience of being raised by a serial killer for a father.
The latest installment in the saga is a propulsive. compelling read, which I enjoyed enormously. When Erica's father, Charles Sterling, escapes from prison and subsequently dies of cancer at a clinic in Vietnam, he leaves his fortune and a letter for his daughter.
But with his body having been cremated, Erica is not entirely convinced that the murderous Sterling has finally gone to meet his maker. After extensive investigation seems to indicate that this is indeed the case, Erica is left out in the cold, since the police consider the case officially closed.
A parallel storyline in the novel involves something similar to the WikiLeaks experience and centres around two French journalists at the Le Monde newspaper who are writing up the scoop of a lifetime before an Italian crime family exposed in the leaks gets to them. That isn't the only danger they face, though...
While some suspension of disbelief is required to enjoy this tale, the loose ends are tied together neatly at the finale, and my only complaint about the story - and I will admit to being very disgruntled indeed - is that it ends on a cliff hanger. Bring on the next instalment, please!

Excellent series! This is the 3rd book in the Erica Sands series. This time she finds out her serial killer father has passed away. But Erica knows her father did he fake his death? She is the only one who believes this and she won't stop til she hunts him down. Love this series it's the perfect amount of mystery and suspense!!

If only Sterling would depart Ericas life for good!
Another edge of seat read as Erica, who just cannot believe her serial killer father is dead, chases ghosts through Europe and beyond to try and track him down, jeopardising her career and her team along the way.
Really needs to be read as part of the series to get the full background, emotional turmoil and obsession that Erica carries.

Book Three of the Erica Sands series and I have just finished reading. How to review this without any spoilers?
I don’t think I can, so you will just have to buy it and find out for yourself.
Definitely start with Book One of the series, if you like police procedural/serial killers you definitely won’t be disappointed.
Four stars from me because, well read it and see!
Sorry Gregg Dunnet for not giving it five but you know why. Am I being harsh? Possibly.
Thank you Net Galley & Gregg Dunnet for an advanced copy of The Hunt.

Oh my goodness! A cliffhanger... how unfair. I need the next book in this series as in yesterday. Loved the book. Well written, excellent characterisation and a neatly thought out plot. Excellent holiday read!

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON"T WANT TO KNOW MY COMMENT ABOUT THE ENDING! LAST CHANCE...! Okay, you've been warned. "Nooooo!!," you'll scream when you get to the end of The Hunt. Because, once again, Dunnett proves he's a cliffhanger master. Yes, I should have seen it coming after the previous exciting Erica Sands adventure, but still it left me wailing for more. There was a sigh of relief on my part when I read Dunnett will soon gift us the next Erica Sands book. This book reaffirms my believe this is the most scintillating Storm series being published. Sands is a great character and Charles Sterling remains one of the most memorable malefactors in the genre. The Hunt is a multi-part thriller and Dunnett skillfully ties the parts together. It's truly another riveting read and a brilliant entry in the series. Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for the advance reading copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Oh how I enjoyed this read.
Erika Sands is on the hunt for her father. He has escaped from prison and now he, a serial killer, is on the run.
This pacy drama filled read is amazing to read. It has suspense by the buckey load, twists and an amazing cliffhanger that ensures I want to read book 4 .
