In The Courage to Change, Joyce Myer has written a book to guide readers on how to embrace changes and not to run or hide from them. Change happens to everyone and it’s inevitable. She shared how she has seen technology grow in her lifetime and changes she had to endure. In scriptures in multiple places, we are reminded that God doesn’t change and His word remains. At times, it has been difficult for herself to roll with the changes. In her ministry, she shared how about 20 years ago she looked around and saw the crowds getting smaller and smaller. Her son, Daniel was younger and he suggested that she dress differently, get younger bands, and modernize the platform look. They also redid their monthly magazine. She as least was against his changes and didn’t want to do any of his ideas. She saw that she needed to listen and them their ministry grew even more after the changes.
In the book, she explained how she experienced change in herself. She grew up in a tormented childhood and was abused by her own father. When she began her walk with God, she had to heal her soul with God’s assistance. Satan had robbed her of her peace and joy. She lashed out at everyone and was angry all the time. She admitted to feeling cheated in her childhood. She realized that she had to let go of her negative attitudes and mindset in order to move forward. She noticed that she could have a better ending even though her beginning was anything but good. God helped her to overcome and God would repay her for her trouble. She stated how she had to learn to forgive people who hurt her.
One of my favorite chapters discussed on how to let go and let God. She encouraged readers to never be afraid to let go of something that is outdated. Sometimes friendships are only for a season and something we need to learn to realize it was just for a season. She compares this to an example of expired food and how food is only good for a certain amount of time then it will go bad. She enlightened how she had to rework her own schedule because it was making her really unhappy. She was complaining a lot and felt overwhelmed. One of her tips was for readers to write down everything they are doing and then cross out whatever it’s bearing much fruit. Learning to let go of things that aren’t helping us can help us to relax and have more joy. Another lesson in this chapter is forgiveness and scriptures even stated that if we don’t forgive our prayers won’t be answered. Also, if we choose to not forgive, we give satan an advantage over our lives. This chapter can help assist you with bitterness and forgiving others.
I would recommend this incredible book to anyone who is resistance to changes they like to hold on for dear life to the past. Joyce does an excellent job in sharing how she had to go through changes in her life and ministry to allow God to do a new work. The principles in this book will guide readers in embracing changes and to live their lives more fully. It had the power to help you manage your emotions, change your mindsets, and learning how to manage change. There are also discussion questions at the end of each chapter. This book will help you to change!

Love her books. It takes you step by step on a path of accepting that things change constantly and the most important thing is to change how we view it. Very helpful right now.
Thank you netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own.

As Christians are missing out on God's best for our lives because we're not embracing change. Joyce shows us how to embrace challenges and the change that accompanies them so that we can walk in purpose and reach our destiny. Step by step she guides us through the reading of her book so that we can confidently hold on to God's hand while he shapes and transforms our life. Definitely a good book for all Christians, young and old alike. Embrace the change because God is calling you!

I love Joyce Meyer! I have read several of her books and they are always very helpful! I definitely have problems with things changing. This book really opened my eyes on how to deal with that! I recommend this book to anybody that has problems with change. I really enjoyed this book!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

I have been listening to Joyce Meyer's for more than 20 years. So, I was excited to have the opportunity to read her latest book.
The book is very timely since change is all around us. The book hones in on how change is disruptive and how we can lean on our faith, God's words, and God's actions to help us through turbulent times, especially when events are unexpected.
What I liked mostly about the book were the questions after each chapter, which encouraged further analysis of the insights Joyce was making as well as the Bible versus she was referencing. I read this within a week as a result. I would encourage answering the questions or at least starting to and then going back and giving them further thought.

A+ reading/listening experience for this one! Joyce’s no nonsense approach always leaves me fired up and feeling more courageous to just be ME because that’s what God wants and the world needs. This book is perfect for those of us feeling like there’s something more that we’re meant to be, rather than what the world has told us or shaped us to be.

Well, there’s a couple of things to start off with for me. First, Joyce Meyer can do no wrong in my book! I could listen to and read her teachings all day. She’s about as down to earth as they come. Secondly, while reading this book, I found out that Joyce Meyer has written over 150 books as of this this writing! 😳 Now, I have read a handful of them, but I would never be able to read all 150 of them- let alone write that many!
This book is about adjusting to change obviously (hence the title). What I really enjoyed after reading each chapter, is that there are questions that were given that you could ask yourself how you are adjusting to change according to the chapter that you just read. It was nice to reflect on how my life is changing or needs to change.
Of course, this is one of those books that I just wanted to quote almost every single line and sentence. So on that note, I will have to get a physical copy to do so.
One of my favorite quotes that Meyer’s provided in the book was “Don’t live the same year 75 times and call it a life.” ~ Robin Sharma.
I would also like to point out that Chapter Eight was my favorite in this book, and I think I need to photocopy all those pages and carry them around with me.
This wasn’t a very long book, but it was a good book about change in one’s life and also about deep reflection. I definitely recommend reading this book if you are a fan of self-help books/Christian, and also if you love Joyce Meyer as much as I do!
Many thanks to NetGalley, FaithWords, and the author for a DRC of this book.

The Courage to Change is classic Joyce Meyer—in the best way. Practical, straight-talking, and full of spiritual wisdom, this book is a bold reminder that we don’t have to settle for “good enough.” Joyce encourages readers to embrace the fullness of what God has for them with faith, confidence, and courage.
Every chapter offers real-life encouragement backed by Scripture, making it a powerful read for anyone ready to break out of comfort zones and walk boldly into their next season.
Highly recommended for women of faith who need that extra nudge to trust God for more.

I love Joyce Meyer. I think her teachings are really good, and she has a good sense of humor. This book was really good. It was a short easy read with valuable lessons. I look forward to reading her next book. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.

This is an excellent book that delivers exactly what its title promises: the courage to change. Each of us face obstacles and distractions that can keep us stuck. The real challenge is whether we have the courage to let go of what’s holding us back and embrace the life God has planned for us. That kind of change takes boldness! Joyce Meyer does a remarkable job guiding readers through this process. I consider it a must-read.
Disclaimer: I received a complimentary ebook from the publisher through NetGalley.

Was extremely bigoted. Did not finish.
I’m a Priest’s daughter who attends a church that is loving and kind, but also lost a brother to suicide.
The rhetoric of this book is basically “pray harder” and “Let go and Let God” in an extremely toxic way that discounts severe PTSD in survivors, or genuine mental illnesses that people are doing their best to heal. Forcing expedited healing on people can be extremely harmful, especially in complex PTSD cases.

I really enjoyed this book. I love Joyce Meyer’s books and this one was no different. I thought it was very inspiring and wonderful

Thank you, NetGalley, for providing an Advance Reader Copy of The Courage to Change to read and review. I reviewed the Kindle version of the book.
I requested this book based on the title and NetGalley book summary, and must be the only one who wasn't aware that author Joyce Meyer is a preeminent educator on the bible, as well as a prolific writer, authoring over 100 books, maybe 140!
I am more a spiritual person versus religious, but I very much enjoyed Meyer's personal stories and lessons. Her advice and lessons share a lot of what is taught in self development books - ideas such as living for yourself, not expecting others to change, acceptance of people and situations, taking one step at a time, learning as you go, dealing with fear and uncertainty. Every chapter in her book opens with a quote by someone and a few of them really spoke to me. One was about how you should not live the same year 75 times and call it a life. She is a proponent of 'get moving, try something, the path will reveal itself' and I really love that philosophy even if it is hard to do myself some days.
I can see how Joyce Meyers has become so successful, and I like that she writes many shorter books that have a theme. They are easy to digest and have good messages. Again, her personal stories were what resonated most with me, as I didn't pick it up for the bible education. 4-stars, as I think the book cover and description should more accurately describe the high level of bible-based narrative in the book.

I read The Courage to Change: Saying Goodbye to Good Enough and Embracing the Promise of What Can Be by Joyce Meyer at the perfect time, as I am navigating several major life changes. Even if I weren’t in the midst of big changes, this book would be helpful in any season, with practical, biblical tools for embracing spiritual growth and God’s best for life.
Change is hard, but we can navigate in peace when we remember God never changes and His word never changes.
Sometimes we choose change because God is prompting us. Sometimes change seems to come out of nowhere. Either way, we can seek God for how He wants us to navigate the circumstances.
When we are reluctant to change, we risk missing the cool things God has planned for our future. And He gives us the help we need to change if we will let Him.
This book dives into key themes of change:
•How to navigate the duration of change, including the part in between what’s behind and what’s ahead.
•How to stay in peace during upset.
•The role of forgiveness in letting go.
•Recognizing how our thoughts affect our actions, words, and expectations.
•How gratitude impacts the process of change.
•How to choose faith over fear during a time of change.
If you’re going through any kind of life change right now, this book is a much-needed guide and encouragement. If you’re not facing a big change, this book will help you navigate how to live and grow in your walk with God and in life situations. So many types of change are highlighted, including the ongoing navigation of ages and stages as well as spiritual growth and transformation. This book is a help during life changes as well as a guide for the journey of life.
In typical Joyce Meyer fashion, scripture is woven through each chapter. The author doesn’t just cite scripture but also explains biblical stories and references, to increase understanding.
The pullout quotes are helpful for remembering and applying key points.
Each chapter ends with questions for individual reflection or group discussion—great for self-study or book clubs. The questions are practical, to help us move forward with what we are learning. Some questions help us interact with scripture in practical situations. Other questions look at circumstances from a God-focused perspective.
The book is filled with practical wisdom, action steps, and things to practice from a biblical basis. The author walks us through specific areas of application.
The author digs into the nitty gritty of growth with God, what that looks like, and how we move forward in practical ways.
She builds on what we are learning by adding each new point onto the foundation from previous chapters.
The author shares personal examples to illustrate key concepts, in a way that’s helpful but not overdone.
The author shares how to look for things that might trip us up during times of change and how to navigate those areas. It’s reassuring that we can grow in good ways even during unexpected or undesired change.
I am grateful this book came along at a time of upheaval and change in my life. My sense of peace grew as I read through each chapter, and that made a tangible difference for me. When this season of change is over, I will go back and review all the sections I highlighted, as these will provide a valuable guide for continued growth, transformation, and life.
Thank you to FaithWords of Hachette Book Group, Inc. for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I have a huge place in my heart for Joyce Meyer. I love her books, her advice, and her demeanor is amazing! Her words of wisdom and advice and the way she inspires me is top notch! This book did not disappoint. The title was so fitting such a good reminder of how we can not escape change. A reminder that we must change our mindset and have a positive attitude to overcome and grow with the changes that life throws our way.

Always love books from This woman of God. It seems everytime that she is sitting in front of you and speaking directly to you. I will pass this book along to my mother and more.

Joyce Meyer still offers uplifting words of wisdom.
I found this book to be motivating and even inspiring. Often books like these no longer ring true at my age. I think this book is for all women.
I was given the opportunity to read this book prior to publication via Net Galley. The review is my own, honest review as the preview copy came with no strings attached!

The Courage to Change was an easy and encouraging read. I enjoyed the real-life examples and how Joyce addressed change from multiple angles. From the changes I never wanted to the changes I desire but don't have to the change I desire but need the power of His Spirit working in and through me.

4.5 stars: This was a nice Christian perspective on change through emotion and mindset, using scripture to keep an eternal perspective. I had never heard of Joyce Meyer before, but she had a clear tone and consistent message. She had a lot of great one-liners, such as "conviction is from God," but she also took time to expand examples.

I liked this book but not as much as a few others I read that Joyce has written. The subtitle on the cover says "saying goodbye to good enough..." I don't think she addressed that much in this book but she did concentrate more on the second half of that subtitle - "embracing the power of what can be."
Sometimes I felt I was reading a book that really wasn't much about change but covered advice and guidance from the Bible about various life circumstances and concepts, such as attitudes, emotions, and courage. When she mentioned whole passages of the Bible to illustrate a point, I knew the stories. Those passages may help more those who don't know Scripture.
As with her other books, she uses her life to illustrate various points and so again, if you read some of her other material, some illustrations might not be new to you unless she added new details.
I have studied and researched change extensively in my profession so perhaps that influenced how this book struck me. If you are going through a major life change and need some words on hope, I would recommend her book, Get Your Hopes Up, more. I appreciate getting an advance copy to review.
