Brave is such a stand alone Pixar movie. Merida is the Tom boy princess who just wants to ride her horse into the sunset firing arrows from her bow off into the distance, but her mother thinks she needs to grow up and act more the royal dignitary . Though they love one another they clash in what results ina magical mishap and must discover who each other is in order to change to who they are meant to be. The art work is lovely and the retelling is as full of heart and magic as the film.

First; Thank you NetGalley, the Author and the Publisher for this ARC.
So, Brave is one of my favorite Animated Disney/Pixar movies.
But....
It is not easy to squeeze a 1 hour 33 minute movie into a comic book. I feel like some things might have been left out and I wish it had a bit more, I don't know, substance/depth? Also, even though the soundtrack was playing in the back ground while reading, I missed the music. If that makes sense...🙈
The illustrations are great and the story has been adapted as best it could. The important elements are all here but like with most adoptions some parts of the movie had to be taken out. The graphic novel however does make up of this by including several short stories at the end that where not in the movie.
I loved every page. But I do prefer the movie.
I think this would be a perfect bedtime story.

I just loved this. It was so pretty, it was so nice to see Merida get a graphic novel, and just all of it was so happy and nostalgic.

Seems to be a pretty straightforward adaptaion of the movie. There are a lot of images and small text on each page. The illustrations aren't espeically interesting. My princess loving, advanced reader found it a bit boring. Might be best for older kids looking for a HIT book.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.

The story of Merida and her journey to get her family back has always been one of my favorite Disney movies, and as I love books, it made my heart flutter when I saw there's a Graphic Novel edition. I enjoyed it very much though I still like the movie a little better - for the scottish accent I adore to hear.

I love Brave and everything Merida! I am so happy that there is another book that I can use to show her off to the children at my library!

A great retelling of a Disney classing in comic format. The panels are great, the words are well done, and it is nice to see some bonus scenes after the story from the movie is over.

Love!! Merida’s bold character is captivated in these pages. I adore graphic novels, particularly when it gets kids reading. I found the illustration were great, easy to read.
Read with my daughter (also a Merida fan) and will be purchasing later when she can read it to her self.

The first part, the adaptation of the movie Brave was cool, and very on point. Bust, my favorite part of the graphic novel was at the end. There were a few really short stories, with Merida's brothers and such. And they were hilarious. So very very hilarious. Those red headed little ones just tickle the funny bone.

Thank you to Papercutz and Net Galley for the ARC of this graphic novel. It was well done and I think it will be loved by middle grade and elementary aged children.

I really enjoyed this graphic novel that reimagined Brave. It has made me want to see the movie again. I love graphic novel adaptations of novels so it is cool getting to read a graphic novel adaptation that adapted a movie. The triplets are as hilarious in this graphic novel as they are in the movie. I think the message of Merida and her mother growing and evolving with each other despite their differences is a good message for children to read about. I also really liked the short stories at the end. I can't wait to read more of these graphic novels from Disney.

I absolutely adored this graphic novel. The illustrations are beautiful, it gives back the atmosphere of the original movie perfectly, and is ideal for young readers. The best of it all, that it contains tiny little extra stories set outside of the canon story, so it expands the timeline a bit and we get to know more about the family. I have always enjoyed the movie Brave, and so to read it in graphic novel form was so fun!
The story was familiar, and the art style had such life to it. I really enjoyed the expressions the characters had, and the movement the illustrator gave them.
For those who love Brave, the graphic novel is just as good! And the extra mini stories at the end were so fun and cute to read as well.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eArc of this book!

Alessandro Ferrari has done a fantastic job of bringing Merida to life in these pages. True to the story, but with so much life and character added. Great adaptation of the film.

A retelling of the Disney movie of the same name. The illustrations are great and the story has been adapted as best it could for the graphic novel format. The important elements are all here but like with most adoptions some parts of the movie had to be taken out. The graphic novel however does make up of this by including several short stories at the end that where not in the movie. I love seeing Merida and Fergus bonding over archery and the three brothers pulling pranks on Merida as well as their nanny put a smile on my face. This book is worth checking out for these shorts stories even if you have already seen the movie.

Merida loves to practice her archery skills every chance she can get. These moments aren't often, as she is the princess of her lands and the eldest of her siblings. While her young triplet brothers, Hamish, Hubert and Harris run riot through their castle, Merida must learn the history of her lands, and understand the expectations of a princess.
Learning her duties and responsibilities and listening to past stories and legends of their kingdom is tedious at best, but her mother Queen Elinor does her best to prepare her for her future. Little does Merida know that this includes being betrothed to the eldest son of one of visiting lords.
This is a completely different level of expectation and Merida baulks at the idea when told. Forced to meet the ever-boastful lords and their deplorable sons is something she must bear however, all the while looking for a way out. Her father King Fergus is keen for a match.
When she unexpectedly finds a possible solution, she grabs it, not realising the anguish it will soon pour upon their castle home and family. This solution involves witchcraft of terrible power, a mistaken identity and the life of one closest to her.
Merida has made a terrible mistake and must put everything back to rights before all is lost forever. Can the queen's tedious teachings help?
A full colour graphic novel adaptation of the 2012 Disney-Pixar movie.
A full team of designers and editors have brought to life on the page this action packed, humour filled but heartfelt medieval story. Pushing against parental expectations is a normal part of growing up, and although historical, this theme is universal to the present and any other era in our history.
Bright, emotive and including 4 extra stories at the conclusion of the main story, BRAVE is a treat indeed.

One of my favorite Pixar movies turned into a graphic novel? YES, PLEASE! I absolutely loved every page. It followed the movie perfectly. HOWEVER, there are a few bonus chapters at the end that are not from the movie AND they are wonderful: a family portrait sitting, Merida and her dad in a wee bit of an archery contest, bath time with the triplets, and a couple pranks between siblings.
I loved everything about this graphic novel and I think it would be perfect for kids. If you want to use it in the classroom, the Irish mythology is a perfect tie in,
Highly recommend for anyone who loved the movie and anyone who needs some bravery to be themselves.

Brave might be one of my favorite animated movies.
It is not easy to squeeze a 1 hour 33 minute movie into a 64 page comic book. I feel like some things might have been left out and I wish it had a bit more... substance?
The little vignettes at the end of the book were nice tho.
Review copy provided by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you so much for letting me read this graphic novel. It was so nice to revisited Merida's story. And the bonus chapters were so much fun.
