Read if you love:
π¨ Unhinged Characters
π¨ Slow Burns
π¨ Dark plot
π¨ Dual Timelines
This was a dark, compulsively readable psychological suspense. Though it leans into a slow-burn pace at times, Iβm always instantly intrigued by a reality TV backdropβespecially when you throw in a therapist and a revenge plot? Ok Iβm hooked.
Told through dual timelines and the added perspective of a cryptic βher,β the narrative maintained a steady level of intrigue. The blend of entertainment, emotional tension, and drama made for an engaging murder mystery. That said, this one tackles some heavy themesβaddiction, trauma, violence, abuse, assault, and harassmentβso proceed with caution.
Iβve been a fan of Berryβs work since the first time I read one of her books. While this isnβt my personal favorite, it had me invested from the start. The ambiguous ending may leave some readers puzzled, but I admired the unhinged energy it delivered in the end.
Thank you NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the arc.

W.O.W. I just finished reading this book. I have questions. Will there be a sequel? Bonus chapters added?
One in four is about addiction. How addiction can make you do things that you won't remember. You want to survive (sometimes) and get your next drink or hit.
Gia is a master manipulator. I did not put that together or anything else for that matter until the epilogue.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this ebook early!

Lucinda Berry does it again! I started reading this and the next thing I knew, I was 75% in! Just snuck up on me! Quick, thrilling, overall a decent read!

A reality show of addicts in recovery, what could go wrong? Just like all the viewers of the reality tv show that couldn't look away, I couldn't stop reading this book. It had me hooked from the opening page!

The first few chapters of this book had me hooked, but then it went downhill for me. It just felt blah and the story got lost on me. Lucinda Berry is a hit or miss for me and this was a miss, I think.
Thank you NetGalley for my ARC!

Get ready to be absolutely captivated!
Lucinda Berry, a true master of suspense and one of my all-time favorite authors, has delivered a masterpiece with One in Four.
Prepare to be amazed as Berry weaves a tale that is not just a page-turner, but a truly immersive experience. In this gripping novel, a reality show featuring former child stars battling addiction takes a dark turn when murder strikes. Their therapist, Dr. Laurel Harlow, finds herself in a mansion filled with secrets, narcissists, and a killer hiding in plain sight.
Berry expertly ratchets up the tension, forcing Laurel to confront not only the present danger but also the buried truths of her own past. With her signature ability to create complex characters and chilling plots,
Lucinda Berry will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last word.
One in Four is, without a doubt, a stunning display of her talent and a strong contender for my favorite book by this badass author thus far!

I was really excited about the premise, I loved the idea of a mystery surrounding a reality tv show. Unfortunately, it seemed like the show was an afterthought and barely mentioned as the book went on. The rest of the story is probably not something I would have chosen.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

First of all, I love Lucinda Berry's books. They are always intriguing, dark and twisted in the best way possible. I love when a book makes you think a little deeper while touching on subjects that are a little sensitive. With all that being said, please make sure you check your trigger warnings with this one! Mentions of suicide, sexual abuse, drug abuse, alcohol abuse and more are tangled throughout this book!
Dr. Laurel Harlow agreed to be part of a reality TV show where childhood stars gather to Crystal Meadows for rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol. The point of this reality series is to show viewers what it's like to "come down" from drugs and alcohol. Being the therapist associated with this show is going pretty great, until Laurel finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation, where she is a suspect.
Laurel also has a past that she would much rather keep hidden, and she's afraid this investigation may bring those secrets to light.
This book is told from Laurel's POV, as well as a "Her" POV from before. The ending left things kind of open, I generally prefer a little more closure, but overall, I do think this book is absolutely worth the read.
Thank you to Thomas & Mercer, NetGalley and Lucinda Berry for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Lucinda Berry never disappoints! I was super intrigued by this one because of the topics of addiction, recovery and the main character being a therapist. Tie in a murder and it felt like this book was made for me! I love the heavy topics and twists. My only complaint is that I wanted more from the story/supportive characters. I feel like some aspects were not addressed at the end, which I felt could have contributed to a more cohesive ending. Overall, I loved this and will continue picking up more of Berryβs work.

This book was like no other I have read before, a great story with lots of interesting and fun characters. Love this author and recommend all her books π β€οΈ

Interesting premise about a celebrity rehab TV show on a ranch full of child stars looking for a new lease on life. When the most famous child star ends up murdered in the rehab house, Laurel, the supervising psychologist, must find out what happened. Compelling characters, especially Laurel, and interesting backstory on the rehabilitation world and the celebrity-filled world of reality television. Good suspense, writing, and interesting characterizations.

Lucinda Berry has been known to write some unhinged thrillers. Her latest release is no different. The story started off strong. A former child star is killed on set of a reality show. Midway, we took a sharp turn from WOW to WTH??
Some of the story felt over the top, and the ending caught me completely off guard. I even flipped back to see if I had missed any clues. If you like psychological thrillers that donβt hold back, this one might be worth picking up.
Check the TW. There is a lot going on in this book!

I LOVE Lucinda, and this is a prime example of another banger by her. Although this book is a walking trigger warning for some, i became immersed in this world.
A reality TV show of recovering star addicts with no filter, could NEVER go wrong, right?! Well of course it does and we follow the resident therapist as she tries to uncover the truth and who did it.
I didn't see the ending coming at all, I swore it was someone else altogether. Which made for an even better twist for that ending.

Dr. Berry has done it again! I have read so many books by Lucinda Berry and each one is more mindblowing as the last.
I definitely didnβt see all the twists in this plot, but thatβs what Lucinda Berry is great at. Creating shocking plot twists that leave her readers at the edge of their seats.
Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book. I canβt wait to see what she comes up with next!

I really liked the concept of the book and had really looked forward to reading this. A reality TV show about a rehab clinic for former child stars. It follows the main character Laurel the rehab therapist as a tragic incident occurs live on the show and the aftermath of it.
The premise was good. The execution was not.
It is very frustrating because the book had so much potential. I think most of us readers were really wanting more content about the reality show but there was so very little of that. Instead we got a lot of mystery investigative content about what actually happened with a lot of inner monologue and back story which got repetitive. We also go a few chapter labeled "her" to add mystery but it was pretty obvious who "her" was.
We did get a twist/ reveals half way through which was actually ok but what followed wasn't any better just different and very very repetitive.
What did I like best? actually the very end of the book there is an epilogue which if I have understood properly and I may not have could know the twist on it heals bit I could be wrong here as it's not well explained.
Lucinda Berry is usually very good but unfortunately she missed the mark on this one. It was OK just not one I will remember very much.
Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer for providing me with a copy of the book for review via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Completely DIABOLICAL!!!! Super quick and suspenseful read! I would have never guessed the ending. Iβve listened to a few of this authorβs books but this one read differently. I loved the idea of the plot where recovering drug addicts are on a reality show while also going through rehab with our main POV: the therapist, when one of patients turns up dead. All of the characters in this book are completely unlikable, but for a reason. It proves that not everyone is as good of a person as they say they are. The title of the book means WAY MORE than you will assume it means, at first!!!
Details: suicide, grief, addiction, homelessness, therapy, journaling, friendship, bullying, rape, baths
The word βlotsβ is used so frequently, even from the therapistβs inner dialogue.

Letβs just kick this off by saying Iβm not your mommy, so check your trigger warnings because this is one dark and oh-so-twisty read!
There are some tough subjects in #OneInFour and Lucinda Berryβs expertise comes in to deliver the story with impact and sensitivity. The title is perfect and will really make you think.
Dr. Laurel Harlow is one of those characters who you look at and wonder is she what she seems? She takes on a job as a therapist to celebrities who are trying to get sober in a house on a t.v. show and you know there is going to be some drama but one of them ends up dead⦠all the secrets start coming out! Grab your popcorn because you are in for one hell of a ride!
Huge thanks to @booksparks for the opportunity to read. My first Lucinda Berry but will not be my last!

3.5 Stars
This was my first Lucinda Berry book and I was very excited because I'd heard amazing things about her books. After reading this one I can definitely understand why.
I want to start off by saying that the whole reality tv plot wasn't my favourite, not because it wasn't written well, I just personally didn't find it that exciting of a concept. That's definitely just down to personal preference. So with that in mind, the first half of the book was okay. I was engaged but it wasn't anything special.
The second half of the book is where things got so much more interesting to me. I felt like the way things progressed in this book were quite different to other thrillers, and I found that quite refreshing. I really enjoyed the ending because again, it was a very different way to tell the story. I don't really want to say much more because I think the less you know about it the better.
I really enjoyed Lucinda's writing and she is definitely talented when it comes to providing readers with creative twists and turns! I will most definitely be reading more of her work!

An exciting and twisty thriller! I love thrillers that are unputdownable. While I wouldnβt say this book is an all-time favorite, it was definitely a good read. That said, it does deal with some heavy topics, so be sure to check the trigger warnings. Also, the plot reminded me of an episode of Diagnosis Murder, which was very nostalgic for me.
