Thank you to #NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC of the Audio Book in exchange for an honest review.
A Killing Cold is a shocking jaw dropper from the beginning. Readers are instantly vested in a gripping tale that unfolds. What makes this great for the reader is all the twists and turns, uncertainty as who can be trusted, what will happen next, and the occurrences for the past.
The setting of the isolated winter retreat with cabins really sets the scene and allows for the awkwardness and suspense of meeting the family for the first time. Although it seems picturesque one moment and then you have the feeling for being trapped. The characters are lovable even the ones you don't trust or like. Karissa Vacker's narration is brilliant.
This thriller is a great read! I recommend to anyone whole enjoys being on the seat of your chair through an entire novel.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC (audiobook). This was my third book by Kate Alice Marshall, but not my favorite. I can’t put a finger on exactly why I did not love it, except for the fact that I never really got drawn into the story. I wasn’t enthralled by the characters either, and found the plot twists predictable. Maybe I was not in the right mood to read this book, because there was nothing inherently wrong with it, but it missed the mark for me. It is still a good middle-of-the-ground thriller and I can see how others would really enjoy it.

Great read. Lots of twists. I actually enjoyed this book very much. The characters were well developed and the narrator was engaging.

This is my third Kate Alice Marshall book and she has quickly become an automatic read for me. A Killing Cold left me questioning every single character as the story unfolds. My favorite type of thriller is one that keeps me on my toes until the very end and this book did not disappoint.
A Killing Cold is a single POV thriller/mystery that switches back and forth between the current time-line and the past as recovered memories of Theo's childhood. There are multiple twists and turns that point to one family member being a potential suspect, yet as we learn more details of said suspect we start to second guess.
Karissa Vacker's performance was very good - of course if she is narrating a thriller audiobook it's guaranteed that I will be listening.
I highly recommend this book for any reader that loves to honestly suspect all characters and still be left surprised in the end.

The book was longer than it needed to be, the ending was really drawn out and kind of confusing. The plot and storyline were decent though.

A big thank you to Netgalley and Flatiron Books for providing me with an eARC to read and review. This doesn't affect my opinion in any way!
I enjoyed this book so much. I binged the audio for this book in two days. Kate Alice Marshall is becoming one of my favorite adult and YA authors. I know that when I go into one of her books I'm going to be in for a wild ride.
The plot was filled with twists and turns. The family dynamics really lent to the mystery and suspense as well. Who doesn't like a little family drama! I enjoyed how the timelines came together.
The narration was great. I would definitely listen to other books by the narrator.
Overall, I recommend this for other adult thriller readers or those who enjoy Marshall's other books.

I really enjoy KAM's thrillers and this was no exception. You already know that things are not what they seem from the start and it follows a general formula for commercial thrillers. The twists in the book are well paced off, and it all comes together well. The isolated wintery setting gives the book a claustrophobic feel that serves the narrative well. There are a lot of back to back reveals that come late in the story but it works really well.

*More like 3.5-3.75 rounded up
I almost DNF’d this around the 40% mark. I didn’t enjoy the dream/flashback type sequences at all. I also found Theo very unlikable. The family was interesting and I wish there had been more interactions with them instead of Theo wandering in the woods alone. I got two characters mixed up towards the ending bc we just didn’t get enough of them in the story.
Overall I thought it was a good story with a couple of good twists. It’s hard for a thriller to impress me anymore, but I’m glad I stuck with this one. The audiobook narrator was solid and made it an enjoyable listening experience,
Many thanks to Macmillan Audio for an ALC of this title for my honest review.

Thank you for this audiobook preview. I enjoyed this audiobook. The way the backstory of both Theo and Connor's family unravel throughout the book kept me so engaged and always wanting to more. I thought I had the ending all worked out but I did not and I was pleasantly surprised by the end.

3.75⭐️
Loved the snowy/cozy setting and the eerie atmosphere. The pacing was pretty good and the twists/turns were well placed. However, there was just one coincidence that I didn’t buy and it put me off from giving this 4 stars 😭

A classic tale of a young woman with no money meeting the rich family of her boyfriend/fiancé/husband and learning all of their secrets. This one has some nice twists to it that you can throughly enjoy as long as you don’t take any of them too seriously or think about them too hard. The quiet cold of the setting makes every action of this strange, rich family even more sinister. The narrator did a good job with some of the voices but I sometimes couldn’t remember which character was which.

This novel falls firmly under the heading of commercial fiction. And it succeeds reasonably well, as such. There's a mystery from the past and an appealingly unappealing cast of potential villains. Who doesn't love to hate the uber-rich? There were some good twists and turns and a suitably suspenseful denoument. A good choice for when you just want a page-turner.

“The Scotts were always putting knives in my hand. They shouldn’t have been so surprised I’d pick one up myself.”
Eerie and chilling! A must read!
Theodora Scott and Connor Dalton arrive at the Dalton family property to celebrate Christmas. Can their love survive the disturbing warnings, hidden secrets, and resurfacing memories as the family closes ranks? Life and death as well as snow and blood are juxtaposed in this compelling novel by Kate Alice Marshall.
The winter landscape of Idlewood on the isolated mountain belonging to the Daltons creates a chilling setting that is its own character. Theo’s desire for familial approval and a bloody trail of memories propels the narrative forward. As the novel reaches a climax, an avalanche of revelations crashes down.
Karissa Vacker’s narration is excellent.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for providing an advanced review copy of the audio version of this title for an honest review.

This book took a bit for me to get into - but about a quarter of the way through it starts picking up and I really enjoyed it! Love this narrator as well!
Thank you for the advanced copy!!

I’ve always struggled to truly enjoy Kate Alice Marshall’s story telling, but I always get wrapped up in the hype around her books. This one was no different.
A girl. Secrets. Murder. And more secrets. Truly that wraps up the plot of this one. A plot I couldn’t put together until the last 100 pages, which is just one of my issues with this book.
I struggled to connect to any character. Theo’s story was so disjointed that even I couldn’t figure out what was going on. I despised that it switched POV and sometimes even jumped into second person. I also didn’t like the way the story unraveled. It was hard to follow.
I listened to the first half of this one and despite my problems with the story as a whole I did enjoy the narrator and the audio. I, may, have enjoyed this one more if I continued listening.

4.5 stars! If you are looking for a fun, atmospheric thriller, look no further. I really enjoyed this one with rich people behaving badly, a secluded setting/mansion and some untimely deaths.
This book was filled with so many secrets and kept me questioning everyone and trusting no one.
One thing though that I really liked was the protagonist Theo. She had been through a lot in her childhood and I was rooting for her from the beginning. She had some gaps in her memory that she was trying to remember and what did it have to do with her fiancés family? Her memory loss only enhanced the mystery and I absolutely had to know what happened next.
If you are looking for a fun, bingable read this winter I would definitely recommend picking up 𝘼 𝙆𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙙!

I listened to the audio version of this book. Read by one of my favorite narrators, Karissa Vacker.
Theo goes to the family retreat with fiance Connor. They are a wealthy and powerful family. Theo is rightly very nervous.
I loved it! Set in a remote winter scene, lots of locked door vibes.
Questionable relatives.
Plenty of secrets and intrigue.
I couldn't wait to see how it all connected. I was not disappointed.
Thanks to netgalley and Macmillan Audio for a fantastic listen.

This book was the perfect blend of suspense and mystery with lots of family drama. Extremely atmospheric with a sense of isolation. And the snowy remote wilderness added so much tension.
We follow Theo as she meets her fiancé's family. It’s supposed to be a harmless winter holiday until she begins to uncover fragments of her past and old secrets that have been hidden. Now she doesn’t know who she is or who she can trust.
This book was a gripping slow burn with twist after twist. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. This book is perfect for anyone who loves a book that will keep them guessing, domestic thrillers, or rich people drama.

I really like the cold weather murder mysteries. And also retreat and locked room murder mystery and this one has all of it.
Theo is our FMC and she gets invited to her boyfriend of 6 months and his family to their winter retreat. They are very cold towards her and then she start getting threatening messages to leave her boyfriend. She then stumbles upon a picture that really shakes her cause she doesn’t know what’s real anymore.
This was an absolute delight to listen to. Loved the narration. The atmosphere was perfect and the twist and turns kept me guessing. I really really enjoyed this audio book.
Big thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

A newly engaged couple travels to an isolated compound owned by the rich fiancé's family for a winter vacation. Theo is expected to be interrogated because of their quick engagement, but little did she realize that pieces of her past would come to light and leave her fighting for her life.
Loved the storyline and concept of this book. It did keep me guessing, but I feel like it started to get a little muddled in the middle and stayed that way through to the end. It left me asking, "wait... so who did it?". I loved her other book 'No One Can Know' so this one didn't quite live up to that expectation but was still enjoyable.
I received an ARC of the audiobook from #NetGalley but I feel like this is definitely one that would have been better to have the physical book to read and go back and reference. I'm not a huge fan of the narrator Karissa Vacker (her voice comes across like she's trying too hard), but it was still tolerable enough to listen to.
