I have been following Matchmaker Maria on Instagram for years, and I was thrilled to hear she was publishing a book.
I really had a lot of fun reading this book! She has a fun way of writing and I like that she has embedded so much of her own personal history & family history in this work. Plus, it gives a lot of concrete things you can do to be ready to date. Loved it!

Ask a Matchmaker is the kind of dating book that feels like sitting down with the most perceptive, no-nonsense friend who just gets it. Avgitidis doesn’t sugarcoat, and that’s exactly what makes this feel so refreshing. There’s real clarity here about what you want and how to get out of your own way to find it. I loved how she weaves in personality frameworks, her own strategies, and deeply human observations about what actually works in love and connection. The advice isn’t abstract. It’s actionable. It offers both the push and the permission to rewrite your dating life from a place of self-respect and bold hope.

I flew through this book. I already knew a lot of mostly everything Maria talked about in this book since I follow her on Instagram and listen to her podcast. I guess I was hoping for a little more in-depth explanations about some topics, but we do get to learn more about her own story, which was pretty interesting. I would have liked to hear more about success stories of people who followed her advice (more detailed stories, not just a number like 2,000 engagements, etc). I did like how she talked about what a loving relationship should feel like. I wouldn't have believed a relationship like that was truly possible until finding myself in one of my own! Overall, highly recommend this book, especially to those people who don't already religiously follow Maria.

Ok Ask a Matchmaker by Author Maria Avgitidis was a well written and interesting read.
I really like how this book equips you to diagnose your own relationship dilemmas and address them with confidence.
I was totally invested in reading more and more of this book.

I’ve been a fan of Matchmaker Maria for years and I loved this deep dive into her matchmaking wisdom. This is a book I can’t wait to buy a physical copy of so I can mark it up and reread it for years to come

This book is a must read for anyone looking for real-talk advice and information related to dating and relationships. Matchmaker Maria shares so much of her background and straightforward advice in this book. I appreciated the personal anecdotes and the her ability break down the different concepts in the book in a relatable and realistic way. She has honed her method for years and everyone can learn something that can immediately be applied to their dating habits or relationship. If you’re feeling stuck or just want a new way of approaching dating, I highly recommend you check out this book and apply the many pieces of wisdom shared throughout.
I’m so grateful to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. I can’t wait to keep following along on Instagram for Ask a Matchmaker Wednesdays and anything else that pops up in the future.

“Ask a Matchmaker”, by social media personality and matchmaker Maria Avgitidis, aka Matchmaker Maria, is a dating how-to guide. In her debut book, Maria gives advice on everything from manifesting love to who should ask out who on a second date (in heterosexual relationships, the man has to ask the woman on the second date) to when to introduce your partner to your parents.
If you are anxious about dating and don’t follow Maria on social media, this book will be a game changer for you. She really demystifies modern dating and provides practical advice while also weaving in colorful stories about her personal life and past matchmaking clients.
For those who already follow Maria closely on Instagram and scroll through her weekly Ask a Matchmaker Q&As, or for those who have read about relationship concepts like attachment styles, some of this may be a little fresh and groundbreaking for you. But you’ll still learn something new and will enjoy gearing more about Maria’s own relationship history.

Solid advice and eye opening for someone who hasn’t been in a relationship in awhile. It’s not a how to guide but it gives good insight on the dating world

I enjoyed the conversationalist way this book was written, it made for easy reading. The advice was sound and practical. I would recommend this to anyone navigating dating in this age..

Ask a Matchmaker was an interesting read! I enjoyed Maria's voice, advice and stories and recommend this book for anyone seeking a significant other.

I've enjoyed watching TV shows with matchmakers. This book very much read like those shows. Lots of advice and input from a professional matchmaker. It's an interesting world to get a glimpse into.
I come from a religious background where marriage seems to be a business transaction. It is interesting to read how matchmakers work. It seems a lot like coaching as well.
