"Under the Lemon Tree" is a beautiful story that follows the journey of Kat as she tries to heal from the tragic death of her twin brother, Nik.
All their lives, Nik had been the outgoing one, while Kat had been content to remain in his shadow. But the more she learns about their lives after his death, the more she realizes that her family and friends saw her as someone who continually needed to be cared for and protected. This led to numerous secrets that she's only just beginning to uncover. And now that she's had some time away from everyone to process her grief, she realizes she is done with secrets. All they've ever done is cause pain and sorrow.
Learning to assert herself, to declare her wants and needs, is a journey of self-discovery. She first has to understand why she allowed everyone to treat her the way they did for so long before she can realistically stop them from continuing to do so.
Set on a beautiful Greek island, the locale lends a lot to Kat's healing journey as does her handsome next door neighbor, Andreas.
Thank you to Emma Cowell, Avon Books UK, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

This book is a lovely, heartfelt story about family, secrets, and finding your place. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Southern Europe, it follows a woman who returns home to face her past and the family she left behind.
The characters feel real and relatable, though the story takes its time unfolding. I enjoyed the slow build and the gentle exploration of emotions.
A nice, comforting read if you love stories about reconnecting and rediscovering yourself.

This was a nice, summery read. I was definitely transported to The Greek isles. It maybe wasn't as much as a light-hearted romance read as I thought it would be. There is death, drink driving, lies, infidelity and family secrets.
My favourite character was our hunky leading man Andreas.

Kat loses her twin, Nik, in a horrible accident and grief has taken over her life, so when an opportunity arises to go and give her late uncle's house a makeover, in Greece, she decides to go ahead.
This is a story that deals with a lot of secrets, family dynamics and grief. It wasn't quite the easy read that I was hoping for, however, the setting in Greece really lifted it up and I now want to visit there myself! I have always loved Greek food and my local Greek restaurant is staffed with some of the nicest people I have ever met, so this should have been a no-brainer of a read, for me.
I can't quite put my finger on why I wasn't more emotionally invested in the storyline and why the romance that Kat finds herself involved in didn't quite hit the mark for me either. My favourite character was Kat's dad.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because of the setting :)
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK.

I was sceptical of this book at first due to many summer reads being overtaken by romance later on in the plot taking away from the deeper themes which could be a thing in this book. However, this book continually proved me wrong in the best way possible. Combining the emotions and complexities of grief, with family secrets, difficult emotions and situations as well as stirring up the past made this a read which I felt fully immersed in and tapped right into the emotions which were trying to be conveyed within this book. Without a doubt this was my favourite book that I read in May and a true 5 star read.

Be swept away to Greece and the island of Agistri
Loved the descriptive style of the story, you can picture yourself under the lemon tree, eating the mouth-watering recipes
The characters were likeable and relatable and loved how the story explored grief in such a gentle, caring way, showing the healing power of nature and connections and the journey back to happiness
Thanks @emmacowellauthor @avonbooksuk & @netgalley for the pure escapism and the perfect summer read

This is the perfect summer escape. Set on the Greek islands the author has vividly captured the culture, food and the beautiful setting.
The main character Kat has arrived to see a home she inherited. She is grieving and wants to escape to process her grief. What she finds is beauty, warm people and experiences she finds healing.
This is a beautiful story that is the perfect escape. I highly recommend this wonderful book for your reading enjoyment.

What a delightful story. Lots of compelling characters in the beautiful surroundings of Greece, The story covered many aspects of family and life and ended with a triumphant conclusion.

This story has an amazing setting and I felt I was on the island with the characters, feeling the heat of the sun and the coolness of the water as I went on the journey with Kaz. It’s a story of heartbreak, family secrets, hope, strength and the chance of love. An uplifting story that will stay with me. An ideal summer read.

This book made me want to hop on a ferry to a Greek Island. The sights and sound details were absolutely lovely and I could picture what greek life must be. It made the story that much more fun to read.
Kat goes away to a greek island after her twin is killed in a car accident. She needs to go to claim a house that was left to her by her late uncle that she didn't know about. She uses her time there to write about grief while also restoring the house. What she finds is a big beautiful life in this unexpected location. I love these books where the community comes together to welcome new comers and make them feel welcome. The ending of this book was just lovely and had me a little teary eyed but smiling.
Thanks to Netgally and the publisher for the arc.

Kat has felt lost ever since the death of her twin, NIk. Her family means well, but their careful handling is stifling. She's simply going through the motions of her life, but they feel meaningless. Until she inherits a home on a small island of Agistri in Greece from an uncle she never met. Kat see's this as a chance for a fresh start. Despite lurking beneath the peace and beauty of the island are secrets that threaten everything Kat thought she knew about her family
This is another beautifully written story, a rocky, emotional journey from the agony of loss, the grief in learning long buried secrets, and the slow, difficult climb to overcome the wounds, to find forgiveness. When Kat discovers the secrets her friends and family have kept from her she is hurt and angry Her sounding board is the island priest who always seems to be there just when those feelings threaten to totally overwhelm her. He helps her to understand and work through the feelings and in doing so, Kat finds a strength she didn't know she had, eventually working her way toward acceptance and finding joy and love.
There is a special, poetic quality to Emma Cowell's writing. She paints pictures with her words. The beauty of the Greek islands comes alive in her descriptions of colors and smells so that you I can almost feel the breeze in my face as I'm reading, catch the scents of the grilling meat and baking sweets. By using background settings such as storms or sunsets, clouds or clear skies, Ms Cowell enhances the emotions of the story so they are not just felt, they are experienced. It's simply impossible not to be entranced by the setting, the characters and the warmth, compassion and sincerity of this story.

Under the Lemon Tree is a story of family drama and secrets with a dash of romance. Kat is struggling with the recent loss of her twin brother when she finds out she has inherited a house on the Greek island of Agistri from an uncle she never knew. Kat leaves London and heads to Agistri to hopefully heal from her recent loss and the feelings of betrayal by her family. I loved the Greek island setting. It was easy to imagine a blue sky and ocean breezes. This was a delightful book. Thanks to the author Emma Cowell, publisher Avon Books UK, and NetGalley. I received a complimentary copy of this ebook. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This was such a lovely story! The details were so good that I could really imagine myself in Greece. A little bit slow at times, but overall it was a nice, easy read, perfect for summertime.

I was hooked from the beginning!!
It was amazing and engaging.
I was instantly sucked in by the atmosphere and writing style.
The characters were all very well developed .
The writing is exceptional and I was hooked after the first sentence.

A romance set in the present time in London and the Greek Island of Agistri. Katerina is separated from her husband, Jamie and lives with her parents. Her twin brother Nikolas died in a car accident 6 months ago and Katerina is deeply grieved over his death.
Katerina’s life changes when she is left a cottage that belonged to her uncle. The cottage is on Agistri, a Greek Island. Katerina travels to Agistri and starts to renovate the cottage. She writes about her experience on the Island and her struggles with grief.
I loved the way Katerina discovers her families’ secrets as she gets to know the housekeeper and other people she meets on the Island.
This was about families, grief, secrets and writers.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher Avon a division of Harper Collins Publishers for a chance to review this E-Book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Thank you netgalley and publishers for allowing me to read a copy of this book. Set in the idyllic sounding Greece, this story follows Kat and her journey to the island and the discoveries she makes after the loss of her twin. Secrets, sadness, loss and love al make this an emotional but enjoyable read.

I read this over a couple of days. Beautiful book - while there is tragedy and secrets at it's centre, the book is also filled with friendship, hope and love.

This is a lovely book, full of warmth and friendship. Kat goes through the most unimaginable trauma, losing her twin brother in a car accident. Inheriting a house on the Greek island of Agistri comes as a huge surprise. As she and her mother discover more about the island, hearts are healed. Lovely descriptions of the island. Thank you for the chance to read and review this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for the ARC of Under the Lemon Tree by Emma Cowell. This is the story of Kat adjusting to life without her twin brother after a tragic accident. Soon after his death her marriage falls apart, she inherits a house from a long lost uncle in Greece and decides to go there to find some peace in her life. While in Greece, she meets her neighbor, a very attractive man, who happens to be single and wealthy. During the course of self-discovery, Kat finds out a devastating secret about her mom. This book moved at a very slow pace, and I found myself bored while reading. It took me almost a month to read it because I just couldn't get into it. I rate this book a 3 out of 5 stars.

My biggest problem with Emma Cowell books is that I read them too quickly! Another wonderful read.
Kat is at a turning point in her life, her marriage is over and her darling twin brother recently passed away. She feels everyone in her life is making decisions for her as they don’t want her to be upset. Something has to change, but she doesn’t know what….
Then out of the blue news comes from Greece that a relative she had no idea existed, has left her their house in their will. She has to travel there to sign the paperwork, so why not take an extended break and see what Greece has to offer.
Little did she know how many secrets she is about to discover about her beloved family!
A fabulous read, a must for the summer, I’ve read it sitting in the British sunshine, wishing I was in Greece.
Emma’s books always have a knack of transporting you to Greece from the comfort of home, the sights, the sounds, the smell and the tastes.
A great read, with interesting characters, a bit few
twists to the tale and a beautiful Greek backdrop. What’s not to like?
A must for your summer reading list.
