While it draws you into Ella's world from the start, it only discloses her secrets gradually in this immersive and intense tale. It's a pattern that repeats for the other protagonists the reader meets. Suspenseful, it leaves you unsure whose viewpoint is reliable. I like the characterisation that reveals multilayered, often unlikeable characters, the relentless pacing that keeps the reader engaged and the unexpected twists.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

This was told over three parts, each featuring Ella’s perspective, with an added narrator per part! I loved the development of Ella’s character throughout, we really get to see why she is the way she is and how she got there. Her tumultuous fast really fed into her paranoia and her feeling wary of everyone really felt valid. There were little twists along the way which made this is wholly engaging read, and I slightly guessed part of the ending but this didn’t detract from the plot at all. This was my first read from Jackie and now all of her back catalogue is on my TBR!

This is a book of 3 parts. In part 1 we meet Ella whose life is in turmoil because her dream job has disappeared along with everything else in her life. I didn’t initially take to Ella, as I was irritated by her self indulgent and self absorbed lifestyle. However as the book progressed I appreciated that she had a few redeeming qualities. Part 2 is where we meet Harriet, an ex flat mate of Ella’s and someone who is willing to help her. Harriet has her own demons, one of which is the daughter of her ex next door neighbour. The book revolves around these three women and twists and turns quite satisfyingly. Overall I enjoyed this story, which is an easy read with chapters that keep you thinking ‘just one more’.

The Revenge Plot is the kind of thriller that pulls you in slowly, then completely knocks the air out of you with its twists. This was my first Jackie Kabler book, and it definitely won’t be my last. I was hooked by the psychological depth—watching the protagonist’s world unravel was both tense and fascinating. I often find myself trying books like this and finding them being more popcorn thriller than psychological thriller. This one checked all the boxes for me.

The plot kept me guessing the entire time, with just enough breadcrumbs to keep me turning pages late into the night. If you love a thriller that messes with your head in the best way, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

We've all met those people who feel the world owes them something, and if they don't get it, well, that's the premise behind THE REVENGE PLOT. These three women are not just going to take the knocks; they're going to let the world know this is not fair!!!! Yes, I meant to sound whiny. The storyline may not be original, but the characters are relatable as they devise ways to get their lives back. This is not the worst book I've read lately, but it's not the best either. Don't let my review be the sole basis for your choice; many people loved the book.

Compelling..
Ella Leonard finds that her whole life, piece by piece, is suddenly being methodically removed. It makes no sense and is wholly discombobulating. Why is this happening? Perhaps, more to the point, who is doing this? A twisted tale of revenge and retribution in this pacy and immersive tale with a cast of well drawn and credible characters populating a twisted plot. Compelling.

Utterly unputdownable

Another brilliant thriller by Jackie Kabler, telling the stories of three women who each bear a massive grudge towards someone who they think did them wrong many years ago. Now, ex-model barista Ella, paediatrist Harriet and estate agent Nisha each develop and set in motion their individual perfidious revenges…The extremely clever, twisty and fast-paced plot(s) kept me at the edge of my seat throughout. Highly recommended!

This was an interesting read. You follow Ella's story of being scammed into a new job and flat and them being swiped away from her and then the twists and turns happened building to a climax. I enjoyed this immensely and was lead astray on numerous occasions.

This one didn't disappoint!
This thriller was a wild ride from start to finish. The twists kept coming, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
I was totally gripped from this book, and couldn't get enough of it.
An enthralling psychological thriller that is a roller coaster of suspense and twists. The writing is crisp and evocative, painting vivid scenes that draws the reader into the world of the characters.

When Ella Leonard arrives at work one Monday morning, she's stunned. The place isn't just shut - it's gone. Boarded up, closed down. Days later, she gets home to find she's been evicted from her flat, her belongings piled up on the doorstep. It's as if, bit by bit, someone is taking her whole from her. Who, and why? And how much worse can it get? The answer? A lot worse. This is just the beginning....

This is an interesting tale that centred around Ella Leonard. He life is turned upside down when her place of work is shut down. Then she gets evicted from her flat. Someone is out to ruin her life.

The pace is a bit slow to begin with. It was also a little bit repetitive. The characters were well-developed but unlikable. The cliffhangers at the end of the chapters were a great way to keep you reading. But I kept reading as I wanted to know who was trying to ruin Ella's life.

Ella arrives at her work on a Monday morning to find that it has closed down and then she is evicted from her flat. It seems someone is trying to destroy her life but who would go to these lengths?

This is my first book by this author but I wanted to give this a go as the concept sounded interesting. This was a quick, easy read full of mystery. I enjoyed that I was constantly guessing. I did find that the pacing was up and down and repetitive at times. I also didn’t really connect to the characters and found the plot a bit unbelievable at times. Overall though, this was an entertaining, solid thriller and I would read more by the author. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

With a unique and intriguing premise, this book pulls you in from page one — imagine arriving at work one Monday morning only to discover it no longer exists. From that moment on, Ella’s life starts to unravel in the most unexpected ways. The story is packed with twists, one after the other and I have to say — the first one really took me by surprise!

Though I anticipated a few of the later developments, the journey to the end was definitely engaging and full of tension. If you enjoy quick reads with a steady pace, layered secrets and a touch of drama, this book might be a perfect fit for you.

The Revenge Plot may not have been a new favorite for me personally, but I know many readers will love the tension, mystery and high-stakes plot.

Many thanks to the publisher for the gifted ARC !

This book starts with a rush—you’ll find yourself wondering what is happening and why it’s happening.
Ella’s life is suddenly uprooted when the café she works at and manages disappears one Monday morning without a trace. No clues—everything, including the furniture, is gone.
Before she can even process this mystery, she’s thrown out of her house because the lease has ended.
Ella, being careless, never thought this could happen. With no proof or documentation, it’s her word against nothing. In the span of a week, she’s homeless, jobless, and broke.
The mystery, however, remains unsolved.
Ella reaches out to an old friend for help—a married paediatrician named Harriet, who takes her in until she can get back on her feet. But bad luck seems to follow Ella everywhere.
This is a dark mystery where someone else is pulling the strings, and Ella has no idea how to fight back.
The book is unexpectedly good, filled with twists and turns. The surprises just keep coming.
The ending is nice (frankly, not my favourite), but objectively, I could see it coming somewhere in the back of my mind—I just didn’t want it to be true until it actually happened.
Read the book and enjoy it for yourself

Jackie Kabler’s The Revenge Plot explores the unraveling of a woman’s life with chilling precision. Ella Leonard begins her week full of optimism, only to find her workplace gone and her home repossessed—without warning or explanation. What follows is a relentless chain of sabotages that leaves her with nothing.

The writing style is fast and engaging, with short chapters and consistent tension that made this a very readable thriller. While I didn’t feel a strong connection to the characters, I did sympathize with Ella’s helplessness and growing desperation. There are some clever twists along the way, though at times the reveals veered into melodrama and felt slightly overdone.

Still, Kabler keeps the plot moving, and the central premise—losing everything without warning—was unsettling in all the right ways. If you’re after a quick, bingeable thriller with a sinister edge and classic revenge themes, this is one to try.

What an opening chapter!!
I was instantly drawn in to this thriller, invested straight away!

The plot is unique, suspenseful and completely gripping.

Conflicted about the characters - they were flawed, complex and real. I disliked them, liked them, even pitied them, all at once. The author does a great job of making you feel a range of emotions reading this.

I was left sat with my mouth wide open in shock multiple times during this. The twists leaving me completely speechless.

A tightly woven story of secrets, perceived justice, and revenge, leaving you questioning your moral compass. How far is too far?

This is the first book I've read by this author but I will be getting her other books now as I love her writing.

Thank you to One More Chapter for this advanced copy.

Jackie Kabler’s The Revenge Plot is a gripping psychological thriller that masterfully explores the intricate workings of karma, deceit, and long-buried secrets. With an atmosphere thick with suspense, Kabler draws readers into a tightly plotted narrative where every detail matters—and nothing is quite as it seems.

The strength of this novel lies in its careful pacing and deliberate buildup. As the layers of the story unfold, each revelation lands with increasing intensity, pulling readers deeper into a web of past wrongs and present consequences. Kabler’s ability to craft subtle clues and intricate twists demands close attention; it’s a story best read with focus, as every chapter builds toward a powerful and satisfying full-circle conclusion.

The Revenge Plot is a smart, unsettling tale of retribution and justice—one that challenges readers to question how far someone will go to right a wrong, and what happens when the past refuses to stay buried. Suspenseful, thought-provoking, and richly plotted, it’s a thriller that lingers long after the final page.

When Ella goes to work on Monday morning, she finds the cafe she was running all boarded up, the furniture gone and the locks changed.

When she calls her suppliers, she discovers that someone pretending to be her cancelled all future deliveries. Ella tries ringing her boss, Lena, to no avail. There are no answers to her messages, phone calls, or emails.

It’s almost as if Lena vanished into thin air.

Ella turns to her old friend Harriet for help.

Harriet now works as a paediatrician for the NHS and is also married to a doctor, George. Ella comes to stay with them and tries to piece together who could have possibly done this to her.

Harriet and George live in a swanky penthouse in London, overlooking the river. This was made possible thanks to an unexpected inheritance from an old neighbour, Farah.

Farah was an elderly lady who used to be a successful interior designer, and Harriet used to bring her meals, run errands for her, or pop by for a chat and a cup of tea. She had no idea that Farah was extremely well-off nor that she would leave all her money to her.

However, someone is after Harriet, too…

Enter Nisha.

Wow! What a story!

This book is about three women, all thinking they are owed something.

There is a jaw-dropping twist halfway through the book, something that I loved and didn’t expect. All women had secrets, so be prepared for back-stabbing and many lies.

I love Jackie Kabler’s books, and this one didn’t disappoint.

It’s out on 30/05/2025, so make sure to grab a copy. Many thanks to One More Chapter for approving my NetGalley request.

Ella, Harriet and Nisha, 3 women who feel they have been wronged in some way. I really enjoyed the structure of this one. It starts with Ella, who after some bad times finally thinks her life is back on track, when one day she rocks up at work to find it gone - locks changed and all the cafe equipment emptied out. The first part focuses on Ella's story - what has happened to her and what she does about it. Then we meet Harriet in part two. Ella reaches out to Harriet and things get interesting. We learn more both about Ella and Harriet. Then in part three we meet Nisha and the three women are connected. I love how we learn more as time goes on and how the women all weave together. It's twisty with some surprises along the way. Great read.
