Hurst knows how to create stories that keep you hooked from start to beginning. The prologue already tells you that it will be a cat and mouse scenario, a promise that he manages to follow up. You can literally feel the noose around the husband’s neck getting tighter, the tension building steadily. So if you want a pretty standard psychological thriller, this will do as promised. There is even an interesting twist at the end. What I found a bit annoying was the over explaining, with ‘that’s because’ as a precursor to saying something quite obvious. I like to think a bit for myself, thank you very much.
Overall a pretty standard thriller that is neither bad or bad extraordinarily memorable.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

I’m a big fan of Daniel Hurst, and his books never fail to deliver! The Husband is no exception - quick, engaging, and incredibly entertaining. While it has a slow-burn build, it kept me hooked throughout, and I finished it in just one day. The connection to the true crime documentary world added a fresh and intriguing layer, making the story even more compelling. The epilogue also delivered a delightful twist that left me satisfied. Highly recommend this one to fans of fast-paced thrillers!

I was so happy to get an ARC of The Husband from NetGalley. Daniel Hurst has quickly become my new favorite author.
I like how The Husband is written in two different POVs, and the character development was really good. Lachlan had me stressed out (in a good way) the entire time, though I was irritated at the way Jenny acted instead during some of the book. The twist was not that shocking, but the storyline kept me interested the entire time. I read this in 2 days!

A solid 3 star thriller. The Husband takes you on a wild ride where the reality of “who am I married to?” takes on an entirely new meaning. The decision making by every character was erratic and at times annoying but overall a quick and entertaining read!

Yes! Yes! Yes! A million times yes! This was my first Daniel Hurst book and I am now definitely a fan. Although you find out from the start who the killer is, the suspense just gets better and better! I expected a who done it, but this was more of a who did I marry mystery.
Definitely worth the read. I finished this in one sitting.
Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read this as an ARC!

Thank you, NetGalley, Bookoture and Daniel Hurst for this ARC.
It was kind of difficult for me to get into this book. I found Jenny annoying right off the bat with her talk about the perfect husband. It just didn't come across as natural. It was also obvious that Lachlan was shady and creepy after reading his chapter. I didn't find any likable personality traits in him. Because the 2 main characters were unlikeable, it was difficult for me to even want to read. I did push through and to be honest this book didn't wow me. I really wanted it to have that twist that would get me drawn in but it didn't.

The Husband by Daniel Hurst, this book was intriguing at times, but certain sections seemed redundant, with the main character reiterating points multiple times using different terminology, which detracted from the overall narrative. It was fascinating to gain insight into the killer's perspective, providing a unique viewpoint. The wife's character was somewhat annoying, given her insistence that her husband return to his hometown despite his objections, which appeared unrealistic and inconsiderate. Overall, it was a decent book.

When i saw that this author had another book coming out, i knew i had to try to get the ARC! I have enjoyed all of his books that i have read. This one definitely took you on a twisty ride and the ending was a bit predictable on my part but overall i did enjoy this book. I look forward to this authors next story!

How well do you know your spouse? Jenny and Lachlan have been married for 20 years and from the outside lead an idyllic life. But when a true crime documentary about the town where Lachlan grew up sparks a strong reaction from Lachlan, Jenny begins to doubt how well she knows her husband. This fast paced thriller was a great read! Lots of twists and turns. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read another great book from Daniel Hurst!

I’ve been married to my kind, loving husband Lachlan for over twenty years. He’s my everything. We have two teenage children, a beautiful home and I feel so lucky to live this perfect life. Until my best friend says something that makes me doubt everything…
She whispers it’s strange Lachlan has lived nearby to two unsolved murder cases. First, the murder of the woman in the small, Scottish village where he grew up and more recently the shocking death of a woman who lived round the corner from us. The thought makes my head spin. It’s just a coincidence, surely?
But at home, I can’t help but notice that Lachlan’s becoming angry, not at all like his usual self. It makes me wonder if he’s hiding something from me. It makes me wonder if he could be guilty. I push the thought away, but no matter what, I can’t get rid of this niggle of doubt.
The only way to find out is to go to Scotland and get my husband to face his past. But when secrets start to unravel in the remote Scottish Highlands, I realise the truth is more complicated than I thought, and more than one person could be a killer.

This was a quick read because I couldn't wait to see how it ends.

ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

How well can you really know someone, and what would you do if everything you ever thought turned out to be a lie?
Quick, easy, fast paced thriller! I haven’t read anything by Daniel Hurst until this one, and I really like his writing style! The POVs go back and forth between husband and wife, making it easy to get a glimpse into what they’re truly thinking, which made the plot even better. The story hooked me from the start, and I was anxious to get to the end to see how it all unraveled. A bit predictable, but a good read overall!
3.5 rounded down
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

This was the first book I’ve read by this author and it was so good! I do not regret this book! I honestly couldn’t put it down. The two POVs happening at once chapter after chapter really helped the story move along and gave a great amount of suspense!

What happens when your wife and daughter become intrigued by the new documentary about an unsolved murder case? One that took place in your old hometown and you're the one who knows what really happened?
Jenny and Bonnie are determined to visit the city, while Lachlan is determined to stop the secret from getting out...
I enjoyed reading it, even though the story lacks a bit of suspense.

I love the premise of this. And how one comment,or one sight can give you that ear worm that won't go. Then do other things fall into place that are odd? Or are you filling jn blanks that aren't there due to this new bias.
I did guess where this was going. But then I was even more.interested to see how it would play. And whether the characters would be OK. So it was a new ans enjoyable way to make my way through a thriller. Almost alongside.

The husband by Daniel Hurst is a gripping, heart pounding thriller. Told in a dual point of view, it tells the story behind the headline / viral stories you would see on the news or the Netflix documentary.
One one hand you have Jenny the wife and Lachlan the abusive husband. They have two kids: Bonnie who is off to college soon and William who is in High School, but you only hear about them through their parents point of view.
Everyone in town, including Jenny and her Daughter Bonnie are watching the newest murder documentary, which happens to take place in Lachlan's home town, weird right? He declined knowing anything, but is he telling the truth?
Thank you Daniel Hurst and Bookouture for putting this book on Netgalley. I received this ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

Jenny has been married to Lachlan for years and they have two teenage children together. One day Jenny and her daughter watch a true crime documentary about a girl that was murdered in Scotland and remains unsolved. When Jenny suggests they go on holiday back to Lachlan’s childhood home he becomes very defensive. Especially because this is where the documentary was set.
This was a fun, easy read, which has the reader questioning how well you know those closest to you. Although I guessed the premise early on, it was entertaining seeing how it all played out and I was intrigued enough to keep turning the pages. The story really starts to pick up by the end, where there are some action packed scenes. Even though this wasn’t the twistiest novel, it was still a fairly solid thriller. I am interested to see what Daniel Hurst comes up with next! 3.5 stars rounded up. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

Thanks for the ARC from Netgalley!
I always enjoyed Daniel Hursts books and liked the Husband.
Solid 4 stars

I loved the main characters of this book and how the story continued to evolve. This book captured my interest almost immediately and kept it the entire book. I will definitely be recommending this book. Daniel Hurst does not disappoint.

I was drawn in by the tag line utterly addictive, etc'. and also by the opening that the wife knows that her husband is a killer. The plot kept my attention and I was keen to finish it but I tired of being reminded at the end of virtually every chapter that the husband is a killer. That was well established at the beginning. I also found some of the dialogue a bit banal at times. Despite that, it's a decent story and an easy read.
