THE MAN SHE MARRIED BY ALISON STOCKHAM.
Release date set for the 20th of January 2025.
This is a new author to me.
I thought this was a dark and twisted book which i liked.
Good story line and had me wanting to read more.
I had so much sympathy for Beth the main character.
Overall a really good book.

It stars with Beth waking from a coma and missing the last 5 years of her life, no memories of moving to another country, getting married, nothing.
When beths husband takes her 'home' nothing is familiar, her clothes or her social media pages. Her husband is isolating her from her family, restricting her phone calls, and has some anger issues when beth ties to put her memory back together, but the great thing about the main character is that she is a fiesty, independent woman who is quite logical and doesn't blindly believe everything she is told.
Its a great book and ive never read from this author before thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC

The first hald of this book strated strong, even though I hated every single character! But then half way it shifts and maybe a bot too fast for my taste. I didn't enjoy the wnding much, I thought it was predictable and simplistic at the same time. However, I do think this type of book would do well as a tv series.

This is a new to me author and I’ll be reading more of her books. From the beginning I was into this story and couldn’t wait to see what happened to Beth. Beth wakes up from a coma after a car accident and tries to reconstruct her life and what a twisty life it is!!

Absolutely loved this, super suspenseful, full of twists and even when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about what was gonna happen next.

The plot was good, I thought I had it figured out in the first half but I didn’t. Rob got what he deserved. Thought about being in Beth’s shoes and my stomach was on the floor the entire time. Did not expect that ending. Suspenseful but the ending fell flat.

Alison Stockham’s The Man She Married is a masterclass in crafting an unpredictable and gripping psychological drama. From the first chapter, I was hooked by the intricately woven story of secrets, betrayal, and suspense.
The pacing was perfect—every chapter left me eager for the next, with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Stockham’s ability to create flawed, relatable characters is remarkable, and the layers she adds to their relationships made the story feel raw and authentic.
I particularly appreciated the dual perspectives and how they deepened the narrative, offering insight into the characters’ motivations while still keeping me on edge. The ending was as shocking as it was satisfying—a true testament to Stockham’s skill as a storyteller.
If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers that keep you thinking long after the final page, The Man She Married is a must-read. I can’t wait to see what Alison Stockham writes next!

This is my favorite book so far by Alison. Beth wakes up in the hospital with no recollection of how she got there. But she is convinced that man is not her husband and does not want to go home with him. Beth begins to realize she may be in an abusive relationship. She finally finds some proof of her life and reaches out for help. But is she reaching out to the right people? Who has her best interests at heart? A lot of twists in her I did not see coming.

The first chapter of The Man She Married is really fast paced and high stakes and this sets the tone for the whole novel. I was fully engaged from the outset and I didn't want to let go.
The premise of The Man She Married is really interesting, and that is what made me sign up for the tour. When we first meet Beth, she doesn't remember anything - she thinks she is on the opposite side of the world - and I really wanted to go on this journey of discovery with her. I did guess quite early on where the story was going, but this was because the character of Rob, Beth's husband, is built so well. I felt the same feelings that Beth did when he was part of a scene and I love that the author's writing caused me to react so viscerally.
I loved the ending of The Man She Married. It is full of tension and there were a few surprises as the novel reached its conclusion.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book starts with such a bang! Beth wakes up in a hospital with no idea what happened to her. The doctors bring in her husband, who she has no recollection of. She thinks it is 5 years earlier, which means no memory of her husband, living in London or having twins. The storyline kept me engaged for the book's first part, and I loved it until I didn't. Beth's friendship with Dee fell flat, and I was flabbergasted when I got to the end. I had so many more questions and felt the author just gave up. I was expecting a final twist for sure!
I would still recommend this book, though, as the storyline was interesting, and it was an easy read.

This book had me on the edge of my seat and I just couldn't put it down. It was so atmospheric and full of suspense ans tension with every twist hitting me like a brick to the face. I loved it

A woman wakes after a car crash with no memory and rightfully doubts everyone around her. Sorting out the truth tellers and the liars is tricky, but engaging. I needed to read it; needed to know who was lying. I have one qualm which I won't mention because--spoilers! I read a lot of thrillers, or domestic suspense, and this one gave unexpected moments.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for the arc. Alison Stockham is a new author to me, but I'll be looking for her back list.

This thriller was a bit out of my comfort zone, as I haven’t read one in a bit. However this book was decent, and I took a chance on it. This book has great potential but I don’t think I was the target demographic for it.

What a great story! As someone who’s dealt with domestic abuse it was written very well and even with my experience of now knowing the signs your writing still had me on a rollercoaster and second guessing myself! The pacing of the story and the reveals was excellent and the character were loveable and relatable, except rob of course 😂. I really enjoyed it

Beth wakes up from a coma and doesn't recognize the man they say is her husband. She may not recognize him, but why does he make her feel uneasy? "The Man She Married" takes us on a wild ride as Beth is determined to find out what happened in the years missing from her memory. With twists throughout that made me audibly gasp, this book will surely suck readers in.

When Beth awakens after an accident having lost part of her memory, she is unable to piece together events of the last 5 years which apparently include a move from Australia to the UK and a marriage!
The man introduced as her husband, Rob, stranger to her. Yet as the days pass, she cannot help feeling increasingly uncomfortable with him. Swinging between mistrust towards Rob and self blame for her mistrust, Beth must find out what the real story is. But who can she turn to?
Atmospheric and convincing, the story comes with an unexpected twist in the tale.

I really enjoyed reading an arc of this book! The premise: You wake up with no memories, all you know is he is lying. So good.
I absolutely loved the story of our main character who wakes up in the hospital after being in a coma, but has lost 4-5 years of memories. Her husband that she does not remember aide's in recovery…
This was a fun story as our main character pieces together the life she was living. While I enjoyed the premise, in practicality much of the story fell apart for me. A super controlling husband hiding much of their former life leaves her alone for hours on end. It took me out of the story because it just turned so unbeatable unfortunately. That aside, this was a quick, fun read.

A creepy and gripping thriller that keeps you wondering what exactly is going on. Lots of shocks, a great read!

Beth wakes up in the hospital with amnesia after being in a car accident. The last 5 years are missing from her memory, she isn't where she thinks she is and she doesn't know the people around her including her husband Rob,
This is a tense read filled with twists and drama.
It is a good read and I enjoyed my reading time. I am already looking forward to what comes next from this author.

1.5 stars rounded up to 2. Looks like I have an outlier opinion. This is a new to me author. I'll start by saying my opinions on this book are mine alone. The low rating doesn't mean it was a bad book. It just wasn't a fit for me. Beth wakes up in the hospital after being in a car accident. She has retrograde amnesia. She thinks it's 2019 and she thinks she's 24. She's missing 5 years from her life. She also thinks she's in Australia where she lived and grew up. Instead, she is in the UK and finds out she is married. She has no recollection of this. Her husband, Rob, seems caring at the hospital, but Beth doesn't quite feel comfortable around him. Eventually, she is well enough to go home. She doesn't recognize anything, but begins getting small flashbacks, and notices Rob has quite a temper that he can turn on and off very quickly.
That's all I can say about the plot because the next part is the ending. Yes, this went on through the whole book. Beth wondering who Rob was. Rob being mean. When I say this was a slow burn, I mean it was tortoise paced. Once I finally got to the ending, it fell totally flat with me. I was expecting something sort of big at the end for all that reading but BAM it was over.
I found all of the characters unlikable. Beth has a friend named Dee and every 5th word out of Dee's mouth is Babe. Rob calls Beth Pooks or Pookie. Over and over. Yes, it's nitpicky, but it got on my nerves. Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I'm sorry to say I do not recommend this book.
