I received an ARC of this title from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and were not affected by the free copy.
Mab has what she wanted, both Estrella and Caldris under her command, and Estrella in Tartarus to get her a snake from Medusa's crown.
I've been waiting for this book for what feels like forever now, so the moment I saw it was available on NetGalley, I grabbed it. And I must say, I haven't been this let down by a book in a very long time. I went into this book thinking it was the last book in the series. Maybe that's my fault, I'm not a devoted follower on the author's social media accounts; however, no where on Goodreads, NetGalley, or her website was it listed that it was to be a SIX BOOK SERIES. And honestly, I'm very upset about it.
Once again, we spend the majority of the book traveling, just this time in Tartarus. That's the first thing I had an issue with. We have spent three books focusing on a new world, with a little bit of Fae (Seelie, Unseelie, Sidhe, etc) mythology, but suddenly we are tossing in not just the prison of Greek Mythology, but many characters from it (Kharon, Cerebus, Medusa, etc). I absolutely LOVE Greek Mythology, Greek retellings are some of my favorite things, but that hasn't really been alluded to up this point, so it felt very out of place.
We do get some good character growth from Estrella, she's finally accepting everything about herself, even the dark parts she doesn't want to acknowledge, and we finally, finally get to see her history, but that isn't enough to save this series for me. I'm exhausted with author's expanding their series so many times, I miss trilogies. I probably wouldn't have been so upset if there had been more advertisement that this was a 6 book series, but even on her FAQ's on Facebook, that was posted on December of 2024, so I don't know how long it's been like that.
Honestly, I don't know if I'll continue this series. This book was fine, but between the surprise 6 books and the length of time between book 3 and 4, I might be giving up. Only the future will tell, but at the very least, I'll be waiting for the series to be completed before I consider finishing it. I'll still recommend this series for Fans of the romantasy genre, but be forewarned that this is not the finale.

I currently am struggling to put together the words for how I feel right now. This book was so incredibly eventful all the way through and so much was happening keeping me on my toes a lot.
I really liked as well how there was a lot of Greek mythology in this book. It really enhanced the storyline!

WHAT SLEEPS WITHIN THE COVE.
OH MY GOODNESS ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY! I was so freaking EXCITED for this book. I needed to know what was going to happen, and just wow!! I was absolutely engrossed with the story. Each page I read just kept me on my toes. There are so many twists and action. Caldris and Estrella pack a punch, and just seeing these two are no words of the awesomeness. I am so incredibly excited for the next one.

I’m so excited to see how beautifully these are being re-released. It’s one of my favorite series and one of the best enemies to lovers I’ve read.

Oh wow, how I loved this book. This story is action-packed and full of so many shocking twists. The writing is just so good. It seems like every book is better than the last. Estrella is developing into such a fantastic character. I was shocked by sone of the revelations in this book. Caldris is finally pulling his own and behaving like the being he is meant to be. This one definitely pulls at the heartstrings. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait until the next book!

I love this series because each book somehow tops the previous one! This is my favorite yet. Most of this book is spent with Estrella in Tartarus, which added some freshness to the story with new plot lines and characters. It almost felt like a separate story from the other books, but everything is so vital to the series overall. There is still a heavy dose of Mab’s cruelty and the events going on at her palace in Tar Mesa. Although it doesn’t seem possible, Mab becomes even more unhinged and it will make her (hopefully) eventual downfall even more satisfying.
I’ll say it, I wasn’t a huge Caldris fan in the first book but his character growth throughout the series has been phenomenal. Estrella brings out the best in him and helps him see the world in a new light, but we also still get our “he’ll burn the world for her” morally grey MMC. I was worried we wouldn’t get much of Caldris & Estrella in this book, but rest assured there are plenty of both tender and heated moments between them!
I want to shout from the rooftops about so many things, but it is hard to say much without giving major spoilers since we don’t know what happens after Estrella jumps into the cove at the end of book three. I will say I love all of the mythology references used in the world of Tartarus, including characters like Medusa & the Morrigan. Woods does an excellent job setting the scene in Tartarus with vivid writing that had me picturing everything while I read.
And let me just say the TWISTS and reveals in this book left me kicking & screaming with my jaw dropped. I am so glad there will be at least two more books because I am not ready for this series to end!
And thank you to Harper L. Woods for this lovely message in the acknowledgments that really resonated with me:

Thank you to Bramble & Tor for providing me with an advanced copy of this book. This review is voluntary, and all opinions expressed are my own.
