At first I was enjoying this story. I read the ebook and listened to the audio in tandem, before switching solely to audio. (The narrator was able to keep my attention). I enjoyed the premise of the book, but was really hoping for more depth to the story. It felt like enemies to lovers, that quickly became insta love, that faltered because of her illness for a third act breakup, and then it was over. I think there is so much more that could’ve been done with the story. It seems that the plot was more to cater to a character-driven story vs. a plot-driven one. I think this one will resonate with a lot of people though! Just wasn’t my fave.

Anna Todd wrote a romance to fall in love with. This is the perfect summer beach read. I love seeing the growth of an author I have loved so much and watching her writing develop and her stories blossom. This was just incredible and to see movie news makes me so happy. It’s going to be so beautiful.

This story was beautiful. Beautifully written, beautifully told, and just full of emotion.
Ry has a rare seizure disorder and believes her time may be running out. So when her mom invites her to Mallorca on a work trip, Ry hopes for one last summer—to really live. To see more of the world, and to connect with her always-busy mom. What she doesn’t expect is to meet someone who makes her want to keep fighting. Someone who makes her want more time.
The setting in this book? Absolutely stunning. You can practically feel the sun on your skin and hear the waves. The Last Sunrise is the kind of story that makes you want to book a flight and cry on a beach towel. There are highs and lows woven throughout, not just a sudden third-act heartbreak. It felt more real that way—equal parts joy and pain.
Even though this is a longer book, I tore through it in practically one sitting. I loved the characters, the journey, and the way everything unfolded. It’s a love story, a coming-of-age story, and a story about healing—emotionally and physically.
Anna Todd may be best known for the After series (which I haven’t read), but after The Last Sunrise, I’m seriously thinking it’s time I change that.

Anna Todd, you’ve done it again! The sheer raw, emotional power this book holds over me is wild. I loved the mental health representation, the journey of self love and self discovery, and over all the way this story sucks you in.

I am just going to have you all look at this quote: "Miss America is a really sexist, degrading competition.....I grew up in a house that didnt sexualize women's bodies but focused on their minds"
For some context, the main character was mad that the mmc called her miss America. This Miss Tessa 2.0, im not like other girls behavior is so icky, im sorry like, you want a cookie for not liking pageants. Why do you have to put down the other girls that do pageants and in fact DO TRAIN THEIR MINDS in order to get the title?
The mmc had 0 chemistry with her. Their 1st meeting is so weird.
I actually did not finish this. I am sorry, I hate to not like books, but I could not keep going with this Tessa and Hardin in another universe story.

The Last Sunrise offers a lot to appreciate, from its beautiful backdrop to the intense summer romance and the unfolding of secrets that span both time and experience. It tackles significant themes like chronic illness, loss, and depression, which adds depth to the narrative. However, I found it somewhat lacking; the characters felt younger than their ages suggested, and the story didn't delve as deeply as I had hoped. While there were certainly enjoyable elements, it ultimately didn't resonate with me as much as I expected.

Anna Todd has done it again! Woah she is just too damn good!
I love how it’s kind of like a slow burn compared to her other books.
Overall the book is great. The writing level just amazing as usual.
The storyline and plot were fantastic.
I felt that the characters were real and not unbelievable.
I’ll read anything she creates.

The Last Sunrise by Anna Todd is the perfect summer weekend read—emotional, romantic, and beautifully set on the coast of Majorca, Spain. The beachy backdrop gave it such an effortless vibe, but the story itself had so much depth.
Oriah and Julian have instant chemistry but both are guarded and not quick to give in. Their journey felt raw, real, full of tension, healing, and self discovery. I loved watching them navigate first love, messy emotions, and complicated family dynamics.
There were moments I wanted to scream, swoon, and cry but I couldn’t put it down. This was my first Anna Todd book and now I totally get the hype.
This book is a heartfelt, romantic, and emotional escape—flaws and all, a must read.

The Last Sunrise by Anna Todd is an independent standalone. This story follow Oriah, or Ry to her friends, who is set to spend the summer on the island of Mallorca with her mom. Although she is there for her mom's business, Oriah wants to discover the island and the people where her mom grew up. While visiting a beach, Oriah meets Julian, a man who she instantly sees as beautiful, until he opens his mouth....their first meeting was contentious but as the days pass, they become close and this could be the best time of her life...or maybe it is just her last Sunrise after all....
Oriah and her journey sucked me in and I didn't want the story to end. the growth and development of both characters was inspiring. They heath have secrets but they just want to spend the summer enjoying each other company. I cannot even imagine how it would be to grow up with a disease not knowing when your last day will be. Anna brings to light the determination of one woman to not let her sickness get in the way of her enjoyment of life. Ry was going to see the beauty of her life and learn every thing she could about where her mom came from. There are heavy moments in this book that had me shedding a tear and the banter between Julian and Ry had me laughing at times. I loved reading how Ry and her mom put their relationship back together.....albeit not an easy task.
This story really focuses on the life you are given and how you choose to live it. Whether you sit and wallow in pity or live it to the fullest. Anna Todd has given us a story about life, the ups and downs. the beauty and the hard. This story truly made. me think about what I have. and what I do with it to make my life full. A beautifully told tale of hardship and resilience, sadness and joy and the beauty of a last sunrise and who you share it with.

This book wasn’t for me. It didn’t catch and hold my attention like I wanted it to!
I didn’t have any connection with the characters. I wanted a deeper connection but it felt like the readers got to the surface and that’s it.

This was a generational love story I was not prepared for. It made me feel things and made me ugly cry. The amount of emotion and yearning for love before time runs out in this book was on another level. I kinda knew this book would make me smile and also destroy me. There was a moment where I was not sure we would have a HEA and that really scared me
- I kind of stared off into space for a few minutes, enough that my hubby asked me if I was ok. Thankfully, I found a HEA and this book overall was really, really good. I loved the backstory of not only Oriah and her mom Iz but also of Julian and his dad Mateo. The tension between big corporate companies and the average working class is a very real issue and this book really took a dive into what that can look like, in this case, in the fishing community of Mallorca, Spain. I got so much more out of this book than I was epxecting and it was really beautifully written as well which is why I gave it my five star rating! Thank you Hambright PR, Gallery Books and Anna Todd for the early copy.

The Last Sunrise is not just a typical romance novel—it’s an emotional journey that touches on some of the most difficult, yet important, aspects of life: mental illness, chronic health struggles, grief, and the complicated weight of family expectations. The characters are young, but the experiences they carry are heavy. It’s painful to witness what they had to endure. But watching them slowly come to understand themselves, their family, and each other was satisfying and heartfelt.
This book truly tugged at my heartstrings. It had me in tears more than once, but it also left me feeling hopeful for the characters. They found light in each other when they are at the darkest place. It was truly a beautiful story.

I really liked the idea of this story but it fell flat for me and I struggled to want to continue reading. The characters are incredibly immature and the writing felt juvenile, not new adult. The storyline and romance both were overall not great and I didn’t particularly like any aspect of this book. The ending was also underwhelming and morally wrong. I understand there wouldn’t be a HEA if the FMC dies but to blatantly (and fairly easily) go against her wishes rubbed me the wrong way. And then it felt rushed, where Ry accepted it instead of working through (what I would’ve assumed she had) some complicated feelings. This was a miss for me.

I expected this book to tear out my heart and put it back together. And I was ready for it. Instead I was met with a book that read like a cliched teen movie filled with little to no chemistry and dramatic and vague mentions of a mystery illness. (We do eventually find out what the FMC is plagued with)
Oriah is 22 or maybe 23? I can’t recall because the whole time she acts like a whiny teenager. Her Mother is a bit overprotective sure but it could be because she acts nowhere near her age.
She travels to Majorca with her Mother for work and meets local Julian. He has a reputation for loving and leaving tourists after one night stands but claims “I’m not like other guys.” Ok.
What unfolds is a lukewarm romance full of awkward exchanges, tepid chemistry, and quick intimate moments that felt lacking.
On a positive note I will say it was an easy and quick read. I don’t believe it’s marketed as YA but I feel it would fit that demographic more than my old age.

Unfortunately don’t think this was the book for me.
I thought the writing would be similar to the authors previous work which wasn’t the case.
I’m really big on the “show don’t tell” rule of writing and this felt like every thought and feeling was spoon fed to us as readers, where I prefer writing that allows me to draw my own conclusions.
In saying this, I could see this being an enjoyable read for others. I will say - the setting is incredibly beautiful and descriptive and I appreciate the medical needs representation.

This was an interesting story - the characters were really intriguing, the storyline moved quickly and kept me involved. A few spicy scenes.
Ry is spending the summer with her over-protective mother on a work project. She befriends their hotel desk clerk and soon finds herself on all kinds of adventures. She has been coddled by her mom, and this is her first time breaking out. There is a lot of family dynamics, mental health concerns and illness - but it was all handled carefully.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a temporary, digital ARC in return for my review.

This book was so complex, emotionally devastating, and painfully beautiful, but, at the same time, it was also so simple and effortless to read. Thank you, Anna Todd, for making me fall in love with reading again.

This was such a beautifully written story. The main character having her coming-of-age story as her mom relocates her to Mallorca for the summer on business. Whenever a book starts off with someone not taking their medication, I know I’m in for an emotional rollercoaster of a ride.
Oriah (Ry) lives with a chronic health disorder which leads to her having a very overprotective mother. Yes her mother is rich, but she doesn’t exactly live the privileged life most would assume. She has spent most of her 23 years of life in and out of the hospital. Ry decides that she is going to spend the summer doing things for herself. She doesn’t know exactly how much time she still has.
Julian is a fisherman with a reputation of a one night stand playboy. But there is so much more to him, you can’t help but start to fall for him. I think he is just misunderstood and fueled by anger on those who are ruining his homeland.
Ry and Julian’s first encounter had me cracking up. They could not stand one another, but Ry could not deny there was some attraction to him. They end up running into each other again and he comes to her rescue, but then leaves her at the beach. The two had me cracking up. But the more they spend time together, the more the sparks begin to fly between them. Their story is beautiful and you can’t help but want them to have a long future together.
Ry grew so much in this story. She found her voice and started living for herself. It was so beautiful to watch her as she grew. There is a history between Ry’s mother and Julian’s family. My heart hurt when I thought it was going to keep the two from being together.
"If I had to do it over, I would love you again and again, even if it meant losing you again and again. In this lifetime and the next, and the next, I will find you and I will love you."
"I'll be waiting for you. I'll wait at the door of every lifetime for you, Julián. I never dreamed that I could feel this way, know what it's like to be loved and to be loved and I'm so grateful that it's you."

It was so easy to get lost in this story! It was emotional and romantic - I loved the coastal setting of Majorca, Spain. The author did a wonderful job painting this beautiful picture of the coast. I think this would be a perfect summer/beach read!
This books follow Ry as she just moved to Spain with her mother for work. She goes off on her own and meets Julian…yes they have a bit of a rocky start but also share an instant connection…but this can only last one summer right?
As the summer goes on, we see Ry’s confidence and her and Julian’s relationship really grow….But both of them are hiding pieces of themselves (her illness and his mental health struggles.)
As we learn more about Ry and her chronic illness and how series it is, my heart broke for her. Her experiences it felt so authentic to me, especially her mother being a little over protective.
Both Ry and Julian have some great character growth and they also uncover so unexpected family drama. I would keep tissues handy while reading this!
