Many thanks to Hambright PR for the gifted ARC of The Last Sunrise by Ann Todd.
This was my first book by Ann Todd, and I found it to be a very sweet and heartwarming summer romance. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Majorca, the story touches on important and often heavy topics—chronic and terminal illnesses, grief, loss, and depression—all handled with respect, care, and emotional depth. I really enjoyed how authentic the characters felt and appreciated following their emotional journeys throughout the story.
That said, the romance itself felt a little rushed for my taste. The enemies-to-lovers transition happened almost overnight, making it difficult for me to fully believe in the intensity of their connection. Additionally, the double love story twist at the end felt a bit cringy and took away from some of the emotional payoff I was hoping for (no spoilers here!).
Overall, The Last Sunrise is a sweet, emotional story that I’m sure will resonate deeply with many readers, even if it wasn’t a perfect match for me. I would definitely be interested in reading more from Ann Todd in the future!

what an unexpected emotional read. I really enjoyed this one and loved the mental health rep! This is such a good summer read by the pool but don’t be fooled— this will make you emo.

Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for this gifted copy!
The perfect summer read, The Last Sunrise follows Oriah and her overbearing mother back to her homeland for business. Living in a temporary oasis, Ry befriends her hotel receptionist and falls in love with a frustratingly charming local named Julian. With Ry juggling her chronic illness and wanting to experience life she never had, she tries to find herself in the most beautiful of ways. I loved Ry’s and Julian’s character growths. This book gave Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights vibes and I am all for it. The Last Sunrise is also my first Anna Todd and I can’t wait to try out her other books.

I enjoyed it and loved the fmc. Them put me in Spain and yes I’m in love. I just kept thinking man this ain’t the same chem as what I’m used to from the author. Then it’s like wait it’s not that, it’s that it’s just not them two.

Oriah is spending her summer in her Mother’s homeland of Majorca. Between a chronic illness and an overbearing mother, Ry is desperate to finally enjoy a care free summer. When she receives a less than warm welcome from local islander, Julian, Ry is left wondering if the summer will be all she hoped for or a huge mistake.

Anna Todd has written the perfect beach read! The Last Sunrise is a beautiful coming on age story filled with secrets, island adventures, and so much tension.
I was immediately drawn in by this gorgeous cover but the story within is the true beauty. This book has so much depth, angst, and emotion. The relationship that forms between Oriah and Julian is truly a journey. Through vulnerable moments, fun adventures, and heartbreaking truths, these two find love. I could not put this book down and finished it in one sitting. Ry and Julian are impossible not to love. The spice, chef’s kiss! I don’t want to spoil too much because the twists and turns are so good. Anna Todd's writing is so captivating and she is a master at writing young love. If you’re looking for a book with all the feels, The Last Sunrise should be your next read.

I was so excited for this one especially where it is set in Spain ✨️dreamy✨️ but unfortunately it fell flat and I did not get that immediate pull like most of us experienced with the After series. I'm not a huge fan of insta-love and she loved him within a day and I feel like due to this the relationship felt disingenuous.
This might be a great summer read for you if you like..

Thank you @hambright_pr and @netgalley for my copy of this book.

This was an emotional book, in all the best ways, it follows 'Ry' a girl with health problems who has lived a pretty sheltered life, under the watchful eye of her mother, but all of that is about to change when they go to her mother's home town in Majorca, Spain for the summer.
I was not sure what to expect when I started reading The Last Sunrise, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a lovely read.. I loved the romance, but most of all, I enjoyed reading about a girl finding herself, living her life, and making her own decisions all while living with her medical issues.

This was a sweet romance. It really went for sick-lit and I think that micro-genre has been overdone so it didn’t feel new and exciting. I keep expecting another After from Anna Todd but I think I need to accept the fact that there will never be another Harden and Tessa.

Once again, I found myself besotted with Anna's writing – grinning from ear to ear and barely able to put this one down.
I loved the push and pull between Oriah & Julián – the angst and chemistry was there from the beginning, and I was forever routing for them.
The Last Sunrise was the epitome of " 𝘛𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥."
My heart broke with the relationship between Ry and her mother... the lessons they learned while in Spain were exactly what they ALL needed!
This was a quick-paced, fun, emotional read about learning to live and let love in – with the most perfect summer vibes!!
The only thing missing was the beach waves roaring in the background 🌊

I had read the After series by Anna Todd and really enjoyed it so when I saw this pop up I was so excited to be able to grab the eARC.
Oriah is a sheltered 22 year old, living with a disease that could take her life and her work-obsessed single mom. Oriah decides to accompany her mother on a summer work trip to Spain. There she meets Julian a local fisherman who despises tourists and what they have done to the island he loves.
The characters in this book fell flat for me. I never felt a real connection between them and definitely didn’t get a sense of any passion between them. The quick switch from enemies to lovers was almost jarring and didn’t really make sense. Overall it felt like the characters were underdeveloped.
I did love the setting and the descriptions of Spain and the food and culture.

Oriah “Ry” Pera is in her early twenties about to spend the summer in beautiful Mallorca. Her mother’s fancy company is paying for the entire bougie stay, but what Ry is most looking forward to is spending the summer reinventing herself. She wants to do things she wouldn’t normally do back home in Texas, & wants to try to forget about her long list of medical issues. When she meets Julián Garcia, she knows she is in for the summer of a lifetime…even though it may very well be her last.
This story was so sweet 🥲
The setting was so picturesque & beautiful, and would make for a perfect summer vacation read. Ry & Julián had a great connection and I loved seeing their relationship develop throughout the story. I will say that the “insta love” trope can be a bit much for me at times, but there were some heavy real life moments too which gave the story more depth. I personally enjoyed this way more than After! 🩷

I was so excited to open my mail and see this wonderful book! Once I ready the synopsis I knew it would be amazing!
Julian and Oriah (beautiful name) story was breathtaking! I enjoyed the dynamic between them and the tension! They were able to get through the hardships of their relationship and get their HEA. I also enjoyed the setting being in Spain. I felt like I was there in Mallorca, watching the sunsets and swimming at the beach. I was laughing at the banter and crying during this book. I highly recommend to any reader! 5 stars from me!
Thank you so much to Hambright PR and Anna Todd for sending me this book to read and review!

I really wanted to love this one, mostly because of the Wattpad nostalgia it brought back, but sadly, it just wasn’t for me.
At first, I was flying through it. Anna Todd’s writing still has that super-easy-to-read quality that made her early work so fun to read. I thought that maybe I could really enjoy this book. But the more I got into it, the harder it became to stay invested.
One big thing that didn’t work for me was the relationship between Ry and Julian. It had major insta-love vibes. Like, they went from not liking each other at all to being obsessed in what felt like five minutes. I kept wishing there was more of a slow burn, something to really feel the chemistry build over time, instead of jumping straight into being inseparable. Plus, even after they got together so fast, their relationship was full of miscommunication and constant arguments. It just made it hard to believe in them as a couple.
Also (no spoilers, don’t worry), the ending took a turn that made me really uncomfortable. The plot twist added near the end just didn’t sit right with me, and honestly, it kind of sealed the deal on how I felt about the book overall.
On a positive note, I did love the representation of Oriah’s illness. I had never heard of it before, and I appreciated learning something new through the story. There were also a few quotes that really resonated with me. Still, at the end of the day, I don’t think this one was for me. And that’s okay! Not every book has to be.
Thanks to NetGalley and Hambright for providing me the opportunity to read this book early.

One issue when you read primarily ARC books is that when there is a book that’s a great read for a particular time of year, you’re generally not reading it at that time. That’s the case with the last sunrise.
I just wanted to curl up on a lazy summer day and consume this cozy romance. I did find it on the fluffier side with the second change romance which did have a bit of angst toward the end with the ticking clock since it take place
On vacation.
I think I’d you’re looking for a quick low stakes romance this is the book for you. I will mention that on NetGalley it is categorized in the erotica category. I’m not sure if I have been reading too much dark romance as I wouldn’t categorize it as erotica at all. If anything the spicy parts were a little clunky and I skimmed over them as it wasn’t the strong suit of the book.
I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary eARC from Hambright PR to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars
⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

Thank you to Gallery books and Hambright PR for the advanced copy of this title.
This book is labeled as erotica, but I didn't get this at all. This is a deeply emotional and romantic NA book with the two main characters living completely opposite lives.
There are deeply imbedded undertones of social class, pollution, consumerism, and land preservation as the story takes place on a beautiful island in Spain.
Orian is a rich girl who has lived under the thumb of her overprotective mother. When she meets Julian, a local fisherman, she is swept away into a life of adventure and love. She learns more about herself, her past, and her mother, as secrets are revealed that put a strain on her relationship with Julian.
There was a bit of repetitiveness in the middle of the book as the main characters fight like children. And then I had to tell myself they are immature 20-year-olds, so it tracks.
Both characters struggle with their own set of demons. The author handles Julian's depression abruptly and head on, making his darkness contrast starkly with the lightness of his character. This felt honest and raw and was well done.
The last few chapters were the best of the book, when the author switches to dual POV and the longing and angst ramps up.
I would recommend for readers who want a deeper emotional NA story with spice.

I’ve been a fan of Anna’s writing since the after series and let me say she’s wrote another 5 star book in my opinion! The last 40 pages had me sobbing! I kept dragging through this book because I didn’t want it to end, now that it has I’m not sure what to even attempt to read next. This book will take you on an emotional roller coaster and you literally can’t get off!

Feeling stuck in her life as a sheltered young woman battling ongoing health issues, Oriah’s life changes when her mom takes her to Majorca. Braving a trip to the beach alone, she meets Julian. While the two don’t hit it off on the right foot, Ry finds herself drawn to him. And soon, her summer in Majorca leads her to finally start living her life and maybe falling in love?
I enjoyed the premise of this one. It really intrigued me. But it did fall a bit flat for me. It felt a bit like it was written for wattpad. It’s said to be enemies to lovers, but it indeed felt a lot more like insta love to me. There was just a bit of depth lacking for me. There were parts I did enjoy, but this book was not really for me. Thank you to Hambright and Anna Todd for sending me an ARC of this one. If you enjoy a fun, summer romance than this may be for you!

This was my first book by this author and I really liked it. I thought it was a beautiful story with a nice setting that can reach a lot of people with the themes used. I liked that we get most of the story from Oryah's perspective but still get some important moment from Julian's perspective. I really liked Oryah as a character. She is flawed but very conscious of it and works to get better. Her outlook on life was such a nice take and I couldn't help but connect with her and love her. I had a bit of a harder time with Julian but he was such a mystery and we got to know him on a deeper level very slowly. I thought all characters had a good development and growth over the story and thought everything was wrapped up beautifully by the end. I am glad I read this story and I will definitely read more by this author.

What I loved about this book:
The summer vibes, the scenery and setting of the story.
Unfortunately this book fell flat for me beyond that. I do feel that there was a lot of potential here with the story line and where things were headed but this overall felt extremely YA to the point that I did not care for any of the characters. Their banter was very immature and childish for 2 people in their early 20’s. They were “enemies to lovers” in the strangest way. Enemies for about 2 seconds over nothing in particular and then insta love to miscommunication.
I feel like we saw more romance from the side characters than we did from the main characters and I just could not connect or feel any emotion towards anyone.
Thank you netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

. Anytime I can get my hands on @annatodd ‘s books I know I’m going to be happy. This was a raw, emotional, heartwarming read that had me craving for more.
