2.5 or 3 stars. I really enjoyed the After series by Anna Todd. So I was pretty interested in read this book. To be honest I couldn't get into it , the mother bothered me so so much. I just felt like the story was not going anywhere, I got lost and bored a bit quickly.
Thank you to HamBright PR for the ARC I appreciate writing something honest.

I’ll be honest and say that when I started this book, I did it purely off the cover. I had no idea what this book was about. I just thought, wow that is a really pretty cover, I need to read this! So I think I was pleasantly surprised going into this and being able to experience this without any idea.
This is honestly a really good summer weekend read. I really loved the setting of this book. A coastal beachy vibe in beautiful Majorca, Spain. Ry and Julian definitely have an insta-connection but also not ready to push aside their differences to give into temptation. Along the way, there was a lot of self discovery, first love, and figuring out how to overcome past feelings. Though there are some heavy topics in this book, I think they were handled with care and honesty. It was really fun to see Ry and Julian story come to life.
I combo read/listened to this and the narrators did a really good job with this story. Their accents were believable and made this story sound really beautiful in my ears.

I am in love with Oriah & Julian. The Last Sunrise is a beautiful story of finding your soul mate and fighting to live the life you were scared to dream of. Julian & Ry both have obstacles to overcome but their dedication to each other is a beautiful thing. A beautiful story of desperation and the will to fight for for your truth & happiness.

3.5 stars! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Anna Todd, along with her After series, will always hold a special place in my heart! This book was much different than any of the other books I’ve read by Anna Todd. I really enjoyed the setting of the book. I was able to take the Spanish setting and imagine it well with her descriptions!
The characters, Julian and Ry, of course both had their flaws but I still mostly enjoyed them. I think the main thing I didn’t like was the fighting between them. Some of the fights they had were a little petty but I digress. This one was also kind of insta lovey and that’s not usually my thing either but I didn’t necessarily dislike the quick connection these two had!
I enjoyed this story a lot but I do feel like it could have been at least 100 pages shorter. The ending was just a little too drug out for me. I’ll still continue to read Anna Todd’s stories in the future for sure!
Thanks so much to Anna Todd and Hambright PR for an ARC of this story for an honest review!

I just love Anna Todd. What a good summer romance book. This story was emotionally up and down and tugged at my heart strings so many times. It broke my heart and then put me back together again.
Medical/mental health
Enemies to lovers
Banter
Spice
And family drama.
I was torn on my feelings in some parts of this one, but overall, such a beautiful coming of age/ second chance story!!

Hi. I’m getting on a plane to Majorca okay? This island in Spain sounded so beautiful that I made the mistake of going to look it up… and it’s even better than I imagine. Take me awaayyyyyyyy ✈️

Ry has one last summer before everything changes. Her business tycoon, mother convinces her to spend the summer in Spain with her while she works. Ry throws caution to the wind and falls for a local with a chip on his shoulder—knowing that this is all temporary.
Wow, Ry made some reckless decisions 😅 and wow did these two ever fall fast. But the pleasure they got out of the beautiful island of Majorca, the experience of a different life was needed. Julian breathed life into Ry and it was nice to see her go from drab to full of color.
There were some horrible things said and done by both main characters… making them both very human. They felt real in a way that made you want to shake them for their poor decisions 😆 but also really jealous of their time on Majorca.
Thank you Hambright PR & Gallery Books for the arc.

This book transports you to the beautiful island of Mallorca, Spain. The coastal setting and the characters in the story really made for a unique emotional heartfelt summer read.
Oriah and her mom travel for the summer to one of her mom’s favorite places. Oriah has dealt with medical issues her whole life and is sheltered by her overprotective mother. Over the course of the summer Oriah begins to find herself and fall in love. Oriah meets some friends and Julian, a local fisherman on the island. There is an instant love connection between these two. What starts as a chance encounter now becomes a whirlwind summer romance between these two. There is so much depth and complexities in all the characters. As the summer goes on we get a little more of their secrets and what they are hiding from one another. This is a story about finding yourself, first love and a summer to remember.
“I love him, every dark and light part of him, and I will never leave his side, until my fate pulls me away. And even then, I will fight like hell.”
“I’ve always loved watching the sunrise from my boat. It sounds cliché, but it’s such a good reminder that every day is a new start, every sunrise is a new beginning. No matter what happens during the day and night, we get another chance, another beginning each time it rises.”

When the main character starts off saying they aren’t taking their medicine and hinting that they won’t be around for long, you immediately know what kind of ride you are on. Even with all of the warning signs, this book sucked me in! A summer in Spain, a sunshiny new friend and a grumpy, gorgeous local made it so I couldn’t stop reading. I knew tears were coming but the story was too good! So here I am recommending this book to you, please make sure you grab your own copy when it comes out on May 6, 2025.

Thank you so much to Gallery Books, Hambright PR, and Netgalley for the eARC!
4 stars!
I think this is the perfect summer read! I've been a fan of Anna's writing since After and I really enjoyed this book!
I loved Ry's character and I think she was so strong & brave regarding her medical issues. I really loved also getting to see her build a better relationship with her mother but also stick up for herself too. I think she is such an insanely strong character!
I really loved her relationship with Julián, I felt like it was the perfect "summer fling" turned into the sweetest romance. The ending had me so emotional!
I definitely recommend picking this one up if you're looking for an addicting and emotional summer themed romance book!

I was so excited to read this book, Anna Todds, AFTER series is one of my all time favorite series!
I enjoyed this book, it kept my interests-- and was such a beautiful heartbreaking story. I will say though the back and forth back and forth at the ending, and some of the banter between the two characters was cheesy. I LOVED the spice, it was tastefully done-

Just finished The Last Sunrise by Anna Todd and I’m still thinking about it. Ry’s journey felt so real her struggles, her growth, the way she slowly lets herself actually live. I loved how the story captured that feeling of being stuck between fear and freedom. And Julián? Totally swoon-worthy but also such an important part of Ry finding herself.
It’s more than a summer romance, it’s about healing, bravery, and choosing your own path. Definitely one of those reads that stays with you.

I wish I was on the beach and reading this book with the sun heating my skin and the sound of the waves in the background.
The Last Sunrise is an emotional, beautifully written book. The way Anna Todd tackled mental health in this book was amazing. She showed us the ugly side of it but in a very compassionate way. It was great to see a mental health rep in the MMC.
This book was all about first love and finding yourself. The MFC found her voice and made decisions about her own body and health.
And can we just take a moment to talk about the imagery? I felt like I was in Mallorca walking the beach with the waves lapping at my feet. I feel the ocean breeze and hear the cry of the seagulls.
The Last Sunrise is the best kind of summer read we all need to experience!
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC read.

This is an angsty summer romance! Ry and Julián have a major enemies to lovers vibe with great banter. Ry is just here for the summer, and I loved anxiety that loomed as it was nearing her time to return home.

Oriah (Ry) is relocated to Majorca following her Mum and her work, she starts up a summer fling on the island with Julian.
Ry has disability rep and Julian has mental health rep. Overall the story was quick and simple. The start of the book felt like I was reading a sequel, it was hard to connect with the characters. I didn’t even know what was wrong with Ry for a while!
It had a really good premise to be fun, it just wasn’t for me.

I’m going to preface this review by saying that I have been a fan of Anna Todd since After was fan fiction. Granted, that was when I was a teenager, and romance writing and books have come a long way for me since those days.
I was really excited for this release because 1) it’s Anna Todd, duh, 2) I liked the idea of the book being set in Mallorca, Spain, and 3) I liked the representation and diversity that it brought to the genre. Our MMC is Spanish, the FMC is the American daughter of a Spanish immigrant, the MMC portrays mental health challenges, and the FMC is chronically ill. Despite this, I was hoping for a light and breezy turn-off-my-brain kind of romance, but this was not that for me.
From the first time we’re introduced to the MMC, he screams red flag and someone I would NOT want to leave my drink unattended around. He gives off creepy and predatory energy, and I think some aspects of this remain to the end of the book despite personal struggles that are later revealed to us.
I also struggled to connect with the FMC. She felt entitled, whiny, and like all she wanted to do was “get back at Mommy” for the entire book. The medical aspect of this felt very “Everything Everything” by Nicola Yoon, and I was rolling my eyes at both the immaturity of Oriah )and also at the entire story).
There were some lines in this book that I really liked, and they usually had something to do with the way Todd would relate something happening in the book to a sunrise. I also enjoyed the way this was an overall theme throughout the book and tied into the title.
I absolutely HATED the “twist” at the end of the book. I think that it was a violation of medical consent and that it would be a walking talking LAWSUIT if this was real life- medical malpractice is NOT a joke and neither is disrespecting people’s wishes when it comes to their medical care. I think that this was written in extremely bad taste.
Also- the spice in this book didn’t anatomically make sense at times, and the phrase “x minutes or x hours could have passed, she wasn’t sure” could NOT have been used ANY more times- please come up with a new line to document the progression of time!!!!
I’m sure that there will be a generous amount of readers who can enjoy this book and get past these things, but I am not one of them unfortunately.

“I love him so much it hurts. It might kill me, but he’s worth my last breath.”
Coming of age, summer romance set in Majorca? Yes pls.
It’s been a while since I’ve read an Anna Todd book so this was such a lovely experience 🥹
This story follows 22 year old Ry, whose mother brings her along to Majorca for business. Ry has lived a sheltered life, dealing with chronic health issues and an overprotective mother. This trip is her opportunity to regain a bit of freedom and she’s ready to finally start living her life.
On her solo adventures, she encounters Julián, an arrogant but charming local. The tension between them sizzles from the beginning as they fight with each other and against their growing attraction. But they both have secrets from their pasts and presents.
These “enemies” fall fast and hard for one another. I’m a big believer in “when you know, you know,” so this trope made me kick my feet a little🥹 Ry and Julián have undeniable chemistry and, being from vastly different worlds, teach each other things about themselves.
It felt like I was watching a movie play out in my head with the visuals of the beach and the Spanish street markets. I just adored the European summer setting and I felt like I was right there with them!
The side characters really round out this book with their own sub plots developing throughout. I love reading about female friendships and Ry finds a beautiful friendship in Amara. These two are girl’s girls and I was living for their chats!
This book covers some serious topics including mental health and chronic health issues, as well as strained familial relationships. All are handled with the utmost care and had my bawling my eyes out 🥺
I really loved this book and would definitely recommend if you’re looking for:

I loved the After series, so I was excited for this one. Unfortunately it fell flat for me, felt very dry and I couldn’t get into it. Other people might love it, it just wasn’t for me.

Thank you hambright and galleybooks for my first Anna Todd read!
It was a little slow to start but once it hit it hit! I didn't think I was going to cry but the ending hit me hard. I enjoyed the character development overall. You never know what life will bring and where you might be when it happens. Sometimes it's too late to make a change you've had everyday to do. But you can! What a beautiful story overall.
Sometimes it takes a major event for people to wake up and smell the sea breeze. I truly thought this wasn't going to end in an HEA, and I kinda got the feeling there's more from the epilogue. We shall see!
"Promise me, keep watching the sunrise"- 😭

The Last Sunrise is my first book by Anna Todd and I absolutely smitten. I don't think I love anything more than a cute coastal setting and a summer romance. It's 10/10, absolutely loved!
The story told us about Oriah been moved to Majorca due to her mom's job placement. She decided to explore her potential freedom but she has some health issues (no spoilers).
During her adventures she meets Julian who is rather infuriating in the beginning! But he dares and inspires her to embrace and be overwhelmed by this possibly last summer.
And of course they found their first love.
The book is so heartwarming, so sweet, sunny, cozy, fun. Banter, adventures and mischief are fantastic. And also very, very emotional story!
I recommend it to each and everyone! I will absolutely make a re-read in the summer at the seaside!

I wish I could curl up on the beach and read this one again with the sound of waves, sand between my toes, and the actual sunrise as my backdrop.
The Last Sunrise is a beautiful, emotional story that truly surprised me in the best way. Mental health plays a big role here and it’s handled with so much care and honesty. That alone made me fall in love with this book—but the setting, the romance, the quotes that made me pause and reread? All of it sealed the deal.
This book is about first love, finding your voice, and finally choosing yourself. I first became an Anna Todd fan during the After series, and this story reminds me why I keep coming back to her writing.
Also: can we talk about the ocean imagery? I’m a sucker for any story with a coastal setting, and Anna paints it so vividly you’ll want to book a flight to Majorca immediately.
The Last Sunrise is the kind of summer read you finish with a full heart and a sun-kissed smile. I’ll be rereading this one again and again.
The Last Sunrise releases May 6th.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for an arc of this book. All opinions are my own.
