From the first page, this thriller ignites a sense of urgency that never lets up. Twists come fast and flawlessly, each one deepening the mystery while raising the stakes. The writing is sharp, the pacing relentless, and the payoff incredibly satisfying. A standout in the genre that keeps you hooked until the very last word.

The two families have been friends for years. Their children have grown up together but a dreadful act totally destroys all that in a moment. When Jo gets an urgent phone call from her son asking her to come quickly over to the friends house she rushed to his side. She finds him covered in blood beside the body of Freya, the daughter of the house. What can she do? She can't believe her gentle Toby could have done this but she knows she must call the police. The friendship of years shatters. Is Toby guilty or is there more behind this tragedy?
I don't know why, with a cast of mainly six characters, I found it tricky to get a handle on who was who! This wasn't the most thrilling book I've read this year but it was an enjoyable one. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

"My son's murdered someone" are words you can't unhear and that was certainly true for Jo and her son. Her son has called her to the neighbor's house and she is met with a dead girl and the murder weapon in her son's hand. He was always the sweetest child, how could this be? And the victim was his girlfriend! Jo regretted her opening statement to 911 and did everything in her power to prove her son's innocence after her initial shock.
This was the start of an exciting domestic drama about two families whose lives have been intertwined for years that comes unraveled bit by bit as the secrets and lies unfold. This quiet, affluent street was home to two families who traveled together, shared spare keys, carpooled and had lives conjoined for years. Even though they thought they knew everything that was happening across the street, the author showed us that wan't true.
So many hints along the way for the reader as to what happened but there was always a new twist that you didn't expect that kept the pages turning.

I found the beginning of this book a little difficult to keep track of who the characters were. A little more time spent on character building would have been beneficial. I loved the storyline, I found that it wasn't predictable at all. Such an enjoyable read.

This is an engaging domestic thriller read. There is not a dull moment while reading this book, you will be invested in trying to figure out everything that will be happening next. I love the different POV. I absolutely recommend this book and look forward to more books by the author.

✨ narrations was perfection and it was a lovely rendition to this story.
✨ a story of friends, mainly 18 years of age. For being too perfect to Instagram to a tragic accident that different families need to endure.
Fast paced story, it wasn’t a hea ending but it was a little story which is close to reality we faces today .

The Mother's Phone Call was a fast-paced story that had me gripped and kept me on the edge of my seat. It was packed full of twists and turns and had an ending that I did not see coming.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

Thanks for approving my request to read this book early.
I can't wait for it to be available in bookstores in Nigeria.
This book was absolutely bonkers and showed a mother's desire to protect and just how far humans can go. Honestly just amazing all through.

I enjoyed this book and found it to be a quick read. It centers on 2 families who have been close knit their entire lives when the unthinkable happens and we see the lengths to which these parents would go in order to protect their kids. I would classify it as domestic suspense vs thriller.
I’ve heard others say this was a slow burn but I thought there were enough secrets where it read fast to me. Beyond the primary storyline of the murder, there are multiple other things going on that uncover the weaknesses in the long time friendship between these 2 families. I did think that some of the characters made unrealistic decisions that were risky at best, starting from the moment the murder is discovered. That being said, I still enjoyed the tension and the overall suspense as the story came together. The end was a little predictable but I still liked it and felt like it worked well with the rest of the story.
Overall, I thought this was an engaging read in a genre I enjoy and would recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Such a good read! I enjoyed the change in perspective with each character. Storyline kept my attention throughout and I enjoyed the twists in this book.

A real page turner, however the plot is slow and the ending predictable. Solid 3.5 star from me. Recommended for novice readers of thrillers.

I have to admit that book took me by surprise. It was a slow burn, but I kept finding myself wanting to pick it up to read another chapter. I really enjoyed the character development between neighbors/friends and parents/children. This book has you continually guessing "whodunnit". I did not see the twist coming at the end, but the continuous reveal of secrets and lies all come to fruition in a heart pounding ending!

Wow! This author just gets better and better! This book was amazing! A page turner from start to finish! I could not put it down. Just wonderful!

This was absolutely amazing!! Loved all the characters, who all seem to have secrets, and it’s the perfect storm of family drama and mystery. A mother’s love has no limits when it comes to protecting their children!!
Highly recommend this fantastic book.

I enjoyed this one but not favorite of hers. I found the ending very predictable. I would give this book 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Great concept, I love an ethical dilemma in a thriller! It was a slow burn of a book, but still good.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #TheMothersPhoneCall by #VictoriaJenkins. This book is full of lies, secrets and murder and I devoured it in one sitting. Jo’s life has had its ups and downs but for the most part is good. That is until she gets a phone call from her son at the neighbors and she rushes over. Her son is standing over the dead body of his girlfriend and Jo’s best friend’s daughter, Freya. Her son isn’t capable of murder, is he?

I need a rest after reading that!
Jenkins took me on a roller-coaster ride unlike anything I've been on before. It was like bam, bam, bam as twist after twist hit and made me re-evaluate everything I was thinking.
Fast paced and fraught with tension, The Mother's Phone Call is an engaging domestic thriller that has unpredictability and suspicion in spades.
It has a great cast of characters, all of whom are complex, credible and veer on the toxic side of life.
Brilliant plot, great author.

I enjoyed this one. Quick read and an emotional thriller. Proof a mother will do anything for their child. I love the premise and didn’t figure out the twist.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc

This was more of a drama than a thriller in my opinion, but if you are into slower burns, this is for you!
