This is so interesting. I did find the different perspectives to be a bit much but you get into it after a while. At the end you want those perspectives. It was wonderful.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sian Gilbert for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for I Did Warn Her coming out June 17, 2025. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I really enjoy murder mysteries and suspense type stories. I thought the summary sounded really interesting. I was interested in the first half of the book. I think I was expecting something different. I would check out other books by this author.

This was a fun, locked-room mystery complete with the most unlikable, catty women imaginable. It was drama galore and Mean Girls on steroids. Set on a super yacht in the middle of the ocean, this held the sense of claustrophobia and paranoia. Told through several different perspectives, it kept the pacing steady and the story engaging. While it was entertaining, I felt that it was a bit too much at times, almost taking away from the plot. I never felt completely consumed by this one as I so often do while reading. Overall, this was thrilling, highly entertaining, and full of twists. Three and a half stars.

Thank you, Netgalley and William Morrow, for this ARC.

I Did Warn Her - Sian GIlbert
Pub Date - 6/17/25
Rating - 2/5
Thoughts - Thank you to Netgalley, Sian Gilbert, and William Morrow for this gifted advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review. This was a locked in mystery starring a captain, an engineer/assistant captain, 4 stewardesses, 4 guests, 2 deckhands on a super yacht on their way to the Big Apple. Both books by this author so far have included catty mean girl drama, which has been really annoying and makes the characters hard to be relate to/be likable to the reader. The drama between the stewardesses seemed to be overly stretched out and unnecessary at times. While the plot was full of drama and of course murder, the fact that there were so many POVs and that each stewardess looked exactly the same confused me while reading. I couldn't seem to get certain POVs straight, which was frustrating when trying to figure out who was talking and what was going on. Overall, this book wasn't for me.

4 out of 5 Stars!

The Ophelia is a ridiculous, luxurious yacht that is owned by a ruthless money man and staffed by a crew that is instructed to indulge in the guests’ every wish. When a stewardess leaves the yacht prior to the last sail of the season, Sasha is hired for a weeklong Atlantic crossing. When she meets the other stewardesses, Jade, Imogen, Euphemia, and Lola, she is shocked to find they are almost identical. Everyone who works on the yacht joined for high wages and the chance to leave all of their problems behind. But even though the yacht is all fun and games, it isn’t as perfect as it seems. A stewardess on the prior charter has died under mysterious circumstances and the guests’ expensive jewelry keeps disappearing. As the week goes on, all the crew start getting more suspicious of one another. But the tip of the iceberg is when a crew member turns up dead after a night of partying. Who is stealing jewelry? And who is the murderer?

WOW! “I Did Warn Her” by Sian Gilbert had me in a chokehold until the very end. I absolutely loved this book. Almost two years ago, I read “She Started It” by Sian Gilbert when it was a Book of the Month for June 2023. I really loved Gilbert’s way of writing, so I was really excited to read her second book and, man, it did not disappoint. There were so many twists, so many characters to keep track of, and perspectives changing every chapter to keep the book moving.

In most novels, when characters are snotty, I am typically not a fan. But, I love Gilbert’s humor with the different stewardesses. I love all the different perspectives throughout the novel. I felt like every character had different problems and mysteries to figure out. I was really devoted to all of their storylines. I will have to admit, I would have given this book a 5 out of 5 stars if there were fewer twists in the end. Don’t get me wrong, I love a twist that goes until the very last page. But, I felt like it went a little extreme in the end. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to any mystery/thriller reader who loves the lock-in trope!

Pick up “I Did Warn Her” by Sian Gilbert on June 17th, 2025!

“So many secrets, so little time.”

I Did Warn Her follows Sasha and other crew members aboard the Ophelia, a super yacht setting sail across the Atlantic. Full of murder, intrigue, secrets, and rich people behaving badly, this book is full of twists and turns that will have your head spinning.

My biggest issue was there were too many POV’s and it was hard to follow who all the different characters were. I was often confused and had trouble following their storylines and motivations.

🎧: Thought the narrators were great, but got a little confused about which character was talking. I mostly attribute that to there being too many POV’s.

Unfortunately I think the timing was bad on this for me. I found it so hard to care about rich snotty people being awful. I don’t think it was the book but the moment.

A locked room mystery on the high seas is always so fun to read. Even better when all the characters are so nasty and out for themselves. I Did Warn Her ticked all those boxes and more.

There are rich people behaving really badly, the crew who are all hiding terrible secrets and then there is a murder. Anybody could be the killer so so many reasons. Oh, and of course there is bad weather and, issuing life saving equipment!

I enjoyed this wild ride so much. While one of the characters were easy to like, it was fun to see them all be unmasked for what they really were and have to deal with the chaos onboard The Ophelia.

Thanks so much to William Morrow for my copy of this book to read.

A murder mystery set on a yacht at sea, with the crew as the suspects, yes please! This was a mash-up of Below Deck, The Heathers, and Scary Movie, in short, it was great! There is so much going on in this novel! All of the stewardesses look alike, one of them died on a previous charter, items are being stolen, and then another crew member turns up dead after a night of partying, this is just the beginning. What ensues is a high-stakes thrill ride on a super yacht where anyone could be the killer. Highly recommend.

This book wasn’t for me. I read a chapter by each of the 5 characters, but each one came off a petty and manipulative. I prefer characters I can root for, but none of these characters were ones I wanted to read about, so I chose to dnf.

I Did Warn Her by Sian Gilbert, when Sasha left her nursing job in London to become a stewardess she only thought of the adventure and that due to her beauty she would do well in such an affluent setting but she is taken a back when she arrives and sees all the other stewardess look exactly like her. except for Chef Runa and staff chief Melinda all the women on board including the escorts Eva and Jasmine look exactly alike. There’s naïve Lola who they call mouse, there’s Imogene who they tease because she grew up poor there’s Effie the model and Jade the head stewardess. The site of them is really jarring to Sophia but she doubles down and tries her best to do her job the only thing is the other girls are petty childish and do everything they can to get her in trouble. even accuse her of murder when one of them winds up dead. While on board Sasha will learn the only person she could trust is someone she isn’t even supposed to talk to and is surprise to learn they’re there to solve their own mystery. Everyone on the Ophelia has a secret worth killing for. I love books with women behaving badly but almost thought this one was too much but as I have come to learn from the authors books just hold on because the ending will make it all worth it and for the second time she has a note some people didn’t enjoy this book but I must say I ate it up! there was so much intrigue backstabbing jealousy pettiness and I was down if not for all of it definitely most of it. When you have to be good all your life it’s fun to watch others back badly. I really enjoyed this book and will absolutely read another one by the author probably anything she writes there’s not only a murder and assault on board there’s previous mysteries and missing stewardesses and all the questions will be answered by the end. Let me just say one more time I really really enjoyed this book. #NetGalley,#WilliamMorrow,#TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #SianGilbert, #IDidWarnHer,

Sian Gilbert’s "I Did Warn Her" is a fast-paced thriller that takes a deep dive into the dark side of friendship, jealousy, and payback.

The story follows Sasha, a last-minute hire who joins a group of nearly identical, model-like stewardesses working aboard The Ophelia, a yacht owned by a ruthless billionaire. At first it appears to be an incredible opportunity for good money and exotic travel, but the job quickly turns unsettling as a previous death haunts the ship, items go missing, and tension among the crew rises. When a murder shatters the illusion of paradise, everyone onboard becomes a suspect.

Gilbert's writing is clear and sharp, with just enough detail to pull readers in without too much unnecessary info bogging the story down, and she does a great job building suspense and creating tension throughout the story. The narrative alternates between different characters and timelines, which adds to the mystery and slowly reveals the truth bit by bit. The characters are also complex and often hard to pin down, which makes them feel real, even when they make questionable choices. While some of the plot twists might feel a bit over the top, they’re entertaining and fairly well done.

"I Did Warn Her" is a twisty, satisfying thriller that keeps you guessing until the end. Readers who enjoy stories about secrets, lies, and complicated relationships, should find this a worthy read.

This reads like a reality show on Bravo. So it's basically Below Deck mixed in with Real Housewives. The characters were incredibly annoying and lacked any real depth. Overall I was underwhelmed. 2.5 stars.

While this was a fast paced, twist after twist thriller, it just wasn’t a favorite of mine. I love a good unreliable narrator, which this story is full of, but at times I felt the storyline was full of such messy people that it was a little too much for me at times. Overall, still an enjoyable read

While the premise of this book is murder on a yacht, behind the scenes with the crew, the dialogue is childish and almost like a child's idea of what rich people and adults are like and how they act.

That said, it's a fun, quick read that I blew through it in a few hours.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review.

A super yacht takes off on a trip, but everyone on the ship has their own secrets and reasons for being there: staff and guests alike.

This one starts exciting and I really enjoyed it for a while. Then about halfway through I realized just how nasty and mean every single character was and it just overcame my enjoyment of the story. It is a fast paced suspense and shows the perils of uber-wealth, as well as how it is to live that lifestyle.

“Well. We have our confirmation now, don’t we? The bitch is definitely dead. I did warn her.”

I Did Warn Her comes out 6/17.

Sian Gilbert has done it again! If you were captivated by the sensation of She Started It, prepare to be absolutely ensnared by I Did Warn Her, a cunningly crafted locked-room mystery that redefines high-seas suspense. This isn't just a book; it's an all-inclusive passage into a world of opulent deception, where every polished surface hides a sinister secret.

Step aboard The Ophelia, a billionaire's yacht so ridiculously luxurious it practically gleams with unspoken desires. Gilbert masterfully sets the scene, introducing us to a crew of "model-gorgeous" stewardesses, each lured by the siren call of high wages and the promise of leaving their pasts in their wake. Our entry point is Sasha, a last-minute hire who quickly discovers this isn't the idyllic escape she imagined. The previous charter ended in a mysterious death, expensive jewelry keeps vanishing, and suspicion festers like a dangerous contagion among the outwardly flawless staff.

Gilbert excels at building a suffocating atmosphere of paranoia. The arrival of the yacht's ruthless owner, his best friend, and two more equally beautiful — and equally secretive — women ratchets up the tension to an unbearable degree. You'll find yourself scrutinizing every glance, every hushed conversation, as the author expertly weaves a complex web of rivalries and hidden agendas.
Then, the inevitable: a crew member is found dead after a night of revelry. Suddenly, the luxurious confines of The Ophelia transform into a gilded cage, and everyone, from the guests to the crew, becomes a suspect. The brilliance of I Did Warn Her lies in its relentless pacing and the dizzying array of questions it poses: Who is the jewel thief? Who committed murder? And what happens when the veneer of wealth and privilege finally shatters, leaving everyone exposed?

I Did Warn Her is endlessly twisty and delightfully voyeuristic, pulling you deep into the dark undercurrents of the ultra-wealthy. Gilbert doesn't just deliver a whodunit; she serves up a psychological pressure cooker where secrets have nowhere to hide. Just when you think you've figured it out, a new revelation throws everything into disarray, keeping you guessing until the final, shocking reveal. If you crave a mystery that's as intelligent as it is thrilling, secure your copy of I Did Warn Her now—you've been warned, it's addictively good!

Juicy locked room thriller on the high seas!

Sasha is a last minute hire for a weeklong passage crossing the Atlantic on a billionaire’s super yacht. When she is introduced to the other stewardesses, she immediately notices that they all look alike. All of the girls are blonde, and model beautiful…strange! She also discovers that a stewardess on the last charter died under mysterious circumstances and there was little to no investigation. As they get further out on the high seas, jewelry starts to go missing and one crew member is found dead the night after some serious partying. Tension is high and suspicion develops among the crew and passengers. Finger pointing doesn’t produce any answers because everyone has brought their secrets on this trip. The isolation of the deep, wide ocean and forced proximity of the passengers on this luxurious yacht is anything but glamorous, it’s deadly!

I devoured this book in a day, it completely captivated me!

Thank you Netgalley, William Morrow, and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be available for purchase on June 17, 2025

I just finished I Did Warn Her by Sian Gilbert, and wow, it was a wild ride. Twisty, dark, and full of messy characters you love to hate, I couldn’t look away even when things got seriously unhinged. If you’re into drama, secrets, and a narrator you’re not sure you can trust, this one delivers.
