Riding the high is the third installment in the Silver Pines Ranch series and delivers a captivating story full of romance, personal growth, and tension galore.

The book follows Cole, a single father and sheriff & Ginger a teacher that has been pining after him for years. An impulsive Vegas wedding and a job nannying for him bring the two closer together.

All in all it's a charming, feel good, small town romance.

"Ginger Danforth doesn't chase any man, even Cole Ashby."

Cole Ashby, the man you are!

Ginger and Cole are secret friends throughout the years and both are fighting their attraction to one another. One drunken night in Vegas got them hitched. They agreed to hide their marriage while Cole's gonna sworn in as the local sheriff and Ginger worked for him as the nanny to his daughter.

I am so glad I love this. This is my favorite book in the series yet!

We've seen glimpses of Ginger and Cole's throughout the first two books and I was so intrigued by them. Their dynamic seems so refreshing and I am always a sucker for the tropes in this book, and it really fit them.

I love both our main characters. Ginger's a sunshine girl who's outgoing, ball of sunshine and just knows what buttons to push for Cole. He, on the otherhand, is a doting father and just prioritized his daughter above all else, and lowkey down bad for Ginger ever since.

"There is a lot to do to get ready, but first, I must make my secret wife some coffee. Husband, brother, and dad mode, activate."

They have history since they were teenagers so they saw each other's ups and downs, good and worst. Not generally a fan of friends-to-lovers but this book just delivered it. Their friendship was solid and that was a great foundation that when they found out they got married, they got through it together.

Mabel, Cole's daughter, is a great addition to the story. Generally, I don't like kids in books but I didn't mind her because she was so endearing and acts her age at the same time.

Love seeing the side characters and the overall found family and girl friendship presented here was great. It stayed true throughout this series.

Howeverrrr, I am not a fan of how the physical aspect was a bit prominent with little to no communication about their relationship. But, I just swept it on the rug because I love them. I am biased lol.

Overall, I had a great time reading this and it basically one of my top fave in the small town romances. Looking forward to the rest of the series and I am patiently waiting for Liv's story!

Cole and Ginger’s story was perfection!! I just loved everything from the beginning to the end!
The tension, the pining, the longing has all been building for years!! Cole was the sweetest, kindest person, best dad and oh man did he have a mouth on him. Ginger, she is fierce and her sass! I just loved these two perfect people and their accidental but perfectly perfect marriage! All the feels, laughing, crying, swooning.

“I wanted you. I never admitted it, not even to myself, but I knew if I kept spending time with you, if could just keep you in my grasp, one day you'd be mine.”

“Her heart is wild. Only he can capture it.”

Book 3 in The Silver Pines series follows the Cole & Ginger after a drunken night of truth or dare in Vegas ends in an accidental marriage!

If you're like me you've been wondering what is up with the tension and the relationship between the middle Ashby sibling, Cole, and Cece's best friend, Ginger since Book 1.. well, Paisley Hope delivered with their story😍

It was spicy, and so so sweet to read deeper into who these characters are behind the face they put on for their friends, family, and public. Cole is known as the ladies man of town, but you also get to see his dedication to his job and most importantly his daughter Mabel! His love and protection of her was heartwarming! And Ginger, you originally see her as this carefree, wild, troublemaker of a friend but come to see she has just as big of a heart for those around her and has worked to overcome the weight of the burdens her family (mostly her father) has put on her throughout her life.

Tropes/Themes:
- Dual POV
- Small Town Romance
- Single Dad x Nanny
- Best Friend's Brother
- "Secret" Friends to Lovers
- Forced Proximity
- Pining for each other for yearssss
- So many MY WIFE moments🔥🔥

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Publication Date: May 6, 2025

Paisley Hope does it again! Riding the High is her third book in the Silver Pines Ranch series and it’s just so fun. I love this little world she’s created so much that I didn’t want to put this book down. If you’re looking for a cozy, feel good, small town romance, you have to read this series.

I loved Ginger and Cole. I love how they had this relationship for years where they confided in each other. From the start, it felt like they were more than friends based on how much they trusted and knew each other, so being together didn’t feel far fetched. I loved how Paisley incorporated Cole’s daughter Mabel into the story. Not only did we get to see Ginger and Cole’s relationship grow, but we saw Ginger become a role model to Mabel and how the three of them really became a team. I loved seeing Ginger, Cole and Mabel become a family.

This series is perfect for fans of Elsie Silver and Lyla Sage.

Plot Summary:
Riding the High centers around Cole, a single dad, and Ginger, his sister’s best friend. She’s been into him for ages, settling for being his friend and confidant over the years and giving him shit any chance she gets. Cole is about to become sheriff and Ginger is the daughter of a congressman running for re-election. When a group trip to Vegas leaves them waking up married, they decide to keep it quiet and stay married for a bit so as to not make headlines that would impact Cole’s appointment as sheriff or Ginger’s father’s congressional election. Ginger ends up nannying for Cole’s daughter Mabel for the summer, moving in and becoming even closer to the two of them. She starts to wish the countdown for her to return to her home at the end of the summer would slow down.

Thank you to Paisley Hope, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine (Dell Romance), and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Riding the High comes out May 6th.

Riding the High- Paisley Hope
Silver Pines book 3

The scream I scrumpt when I received this Advanced Reader Copy of Riding the High!

Paisley Hope has quickly become one of my favorite authors! The first 2 books in the Silver Pines series were so very good and the 3rd is no different!

Riding the High is the story of Cole and Ginger or Law Daddy and Vixen as they like to call each other. Cole is a single dad and Ginger is his sister's best friend. On a drunken night in Vegas they end up married. Newly elected sheriff Cole cannot afford to have a marriage scandal in his first days in office. So what better answer than to stay fake married while Ginger becomes nanny to his daughter. What could go wrong?

I laughed and I cried and am so happy to have gotten the opportunity to read their story. A+ again from Paisley Hope!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an opportunity to read this eARC!

When I tell you I did a happy dance when I got this ARC, I’m not kidding. I absolutely love the Silver Pines books and after seeing bits and pieces of Cole and Ginger in the first 2 books, I was SO excited to finally have their story.

I wanted so badly for this book to be 5 starts, but had to give it 4 for a few reasons.
Number one being, after Wade Ashby I don’t think ANYONE can compare 😂 Wade and Ivy relationship in the second book just did me in, and Cole and Ginger just didn’t quite get there for me.

Number two, I wanted more emotion!! I am allllllll for the spice and the bedroom scenes, but after having so much of them in the first two books, I wanted their story to really go deep.

I do love Cole and Ginger, both separate and together. And Mabel is just the icing on the cake for their story, she is just too cute! This was for sure a great third book in this series and I’m dying to see who the next one is about! Im already missing the family on Silver Pines Ranch!

Thank you, NetGalley for the eARC.

This was my most anticipated couple from the series. I have been waiting to read about Ginger and Cole since we first got a glimpse of them in the first book. I loved the friendship between the both of them and how we got to see glimpses of their past to see how their relationship has grown from there. The tension was well written and the banter was so good. The friends to lovers and accidental marriage trope was done so well. Their friendship was special but adding a romance along with that was even better.
Cole is so dedicated to his job as sheriff and to his daughter, Mabel. You can really see how much he cares for her through all of his actions and it truly adds to the book and his personality. Ginger is sassy and fiery and you cannot help but love her as a main character. Together they make the perfect team and it was so cute to watch that blossom and become exactly what they need for one another.
I truly cannot wait for the next book in this series!

ARC review
I’m panting🤭😩🙂‍↕️1st of all yes and 2nd when is it my turn😭 I had a feeling Cole and Ginger would be my favorite in the series because I LOVE a single parent romance where we get to watch one of the main characters fall in love with their SOs child(ren)
Mabel was so so so perfect- I absolutely adored her and she made everything better.
I love how there were multiple scenes where I kept expecting there to be a blow out scene or fight between the MCs as that’s what we often see and have come to expect in the contemporary romance genre, especially as of late. Cole and Ginger treated one another with so much respect and kindness that it made that sexy stuff even hotter. I’m 100% obsessed!!

Cute friends to lover entry in the Silver Pines world. The first one is still my favorite but enjoyed this sheriff and senator’s daughter match up. I look forward to the next book!

4⭐️

Now THIS is what I wanted from this series. In the other books, once the characters got together, it felt like their entire story from there on was just them getting intimate. In this book, however, the plot still felt present.

This one follows Cole and Ginger, who have known each other since childhood, and Ginger is his sister, Cece’s, best friend. The two of them have a secret friendship (think Hothouse Flower vibes), but they’ve always pined for the other behind closed doors.

Cole is a fantastic father and an even better partner, if that’s possible. Ginger is a spitfire who has no problem saying what she believes, when it comes to anyone other than her father.

This book has so much angst and tension, and when it finally comes to a head 🥵🥵🥵 definitely my favorite of the series!!

Definitely my favorite of the series so far! It was a lot of fun with a ton of banter. And these two were spicy! I knew I was going to love Law Daddy and Ginger based on their interactions in the other two books.

Their friendship was way deeper than I had realized. The way they looked out for each other when times were tough was really sweet, even if the sweetness was covered with a dry, sarcastic remark. Cole and Ginger had so much chemistry that I was surprised that it took so long for them to really act on their feelings. I loved seeing how Ginger got Cole to loosen up a bit and how Cole became a possessive man as the story went on. I couldn't get over how much they loved each other even before they officially admitted it.

This is also the first book where I feel like the storyline continued to be strong after they hooked up whereas the others lost that a bit.

So excited to see what comes next in this series!

Thank you Paisley Hope, Dell Random House, and NetGalley for the ARC!

Paisley Hope has become one of my favorite authors to read. I applied for this arc without realizing that this was the third in the series, so naturally, I had to go back to the beginning and read my way through the series. I am so glad that I did. Paisley hope writes stories in a way that make you want to continue to read them. The romance and characters drive the story line but in a good way. You connect with the characters and that has you ready for the next one. This book was easily 5 stars and well worth the read. I definitely recommend that you check out her other books!

I couldn't put this book down! Whenever I had to close my Kindle for my adult responsibilities, I thought about Cole and Ginger until I could finally curl up in bed with my Kindle. Their story completely hooked me, and I loved every second of it.

This book was a fun read—Ginger's witty comebacks and banter with Cole were spectacular. One of the things I love most about Paisley Hope is her writing and ability to draw you in from the very first page. The pacing and buildup were spot on, and the epilogue was perfect. I love when an epilogue fits the characters so well.

A massive plus for me? No unnecessary third-act breakup! These characters communicate; yay for that! I also loved seeing Ginger and Cole's secret friendship and how deeply they understood each other. And Mabel? Watching her and Ginger grow close and become inseparable was a sweet touch.

This book also features two of my favorite tropes in a cowboy romance: the single parent/nanny dynamic and the accidental/secret marriage. Paisley Hope executed them beautifully.

It's not quite a five-star read for me, though. While Cole and Ginger's relationship was well-written, I felt a disconnect between Ginger and her best friends. I also wish we had gotten more of them and a scene of Ginger's father apologizing in person rather than just through text.

That said, Riding the High is a solid 4-star read for me. It's easy to read, comforting, and the kind of book I'll be rushing to recommend to my book besties!

Thank you, NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group, for the arc!

thank you to random house publishing and netgalley for the arc!

two arcs in a row? who even am i?!?

another fun addition to this series! Ivy and Wade will forever be my favorite but Ginger and Cole were a whole lotta fun!

the pining!!!!! these two took friends to lovers to the next level! add in the complexities of getting drunk married in vegas and needing to keep it a secret? this book was chalk full of shenanigans!

this couple has been the main one teased throughout the first two books and i was very ready to see the push and pull of their relationship.

overall, i give this one 4 stars!

this one is out in may!!! i’ll be picking up a physical copy and so should you!

Thank you Netgalley for this arc. Cole is a single dad and ends a job in a small town as a sheriff. Ginger is the daughter of the congressman. Everything in her life is neat and steady and she's dying for some adventure. After a night of a truth and dare game and way too many drinks, they find themselves married in Vegas.

Wow, Riding the High by Paisley Hope really took me on a ride I wasn’t expecting! From the very first page, I was well and truly hooked. The story is the absolute perfect mix of excitement and heart, with just the right amount of depth to have you vouching for Ginger and Cole from the get go, despite their obvious push and pull throughout. But let’s face it, Ginger’s hilariously sarcastic whit is enough to drive anyone to despair.

Paisley has this amazing way of making her characters feel so real and relatable. You can’t help but get invested in their journey, rooting for them through every twist and turn. That skill is especially highlighted in the Silver Pines Ranch series, every character we know and love is always fully in for the ride.

What I loved most about the book was how it tackled some pretty deep themes, both of them managed to overcome their obstacles, discover who they truly are and find that inner strength we all know we need in life but maybe never knew you had. Their personal growth was beautiful to read, and that made it all the more rewarding once I got to the end.

Riding the High is one of those books that sticks with you long after you’ve turned the last page. I honestly can’t stop thinking about it, book slump anyone? If you’re looking for something that’ll lift your spirits and remind you of the power of perseverance, this one’s definitely worth picking up!

this was so scrumptious! i love a long-time friends-to-lovers moment and i loved how unconventional their journey was to finally being together. getting to see ginger with cole and mabel was so sweet, and i loved that we got to see moments in their past that led them to here.
(that said, "it's always been you" when he got married, had a kid, and slept with like everyone in town... yeah i'm going to choose to ignore that) i was worried about a miscommunication third act break-up but the situation was handled just as i hoped. i also loved getting updates on the rest of the ashby fam and hanging out in silver pines for a little longer <3

I actually squealed when I received this arc. Ginger and Cole are the couple that I've been waiting for. I thought I'd have to wait until May to read this, so getting to read it early was a dream come true.

This book did not disappoint. Getting to see flashbacks of them in the past was something I loved. Also watching Ginger become a mother figure to Mabel was so heartwarming, they had such a good bond with each other. And despite Ginger and Cole having feelings for each other from the beginning, the book was not rushed at all. The pacing felt perfect to me. I loved seeing sides to both of them that we didn't get to see in previous books. Not to mention, the spice was sooo good. Also, the epilogue was everything I needed. It felt like the perfect ending for Ginger and Cole.

All in all, this book lived up to every expectation I had. I am so grateful to have the arc, and I will continue to read Paisley Hope's writing.
