okay, how cute is this one?!
My four kids LOVED IT. My six year old loved how sweet Ghost Quilt was, and I was so touched by the ornament crafting. This is a must for every holiday home that wants to celebrate togetherness and love. This one is so so sweet and so so good. Adding it to my buy list for next winter!

Thank you NetGalley, Tundra Books, and Riel Nason for the early access copy of The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise.
The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise is a beautifully illustrated picture book about the ghost quilt and his adventures in the cold weather. While the other ghosts who are sheets get too cold in the winter, the little ghost quilt does not. He, for once, doesn't overheat, gets to see what happens in town around the festive season, enjoy the winter, and feels happiness and excitement. The little ghost quilt decides to bring home the beauty of the festive season to his friends who are too cold in the winter the holiday season.
A stunningly illustrated continuation of the beloved character of the ghost quilt will be loved by all. Students adore his character.

I've absolutely loved these first two Little Ghost Quilt books, and I would happily read dozens more! In this adventure, our little ghost quilt is initially sad because his more lightweight friends can't enjoy the winter the same way he can. They chill and freeze and have a generally tough time. But after a stroll through the neighborhood, he takes in all of the beautiful Christmas decorations and admires how everyone is celebrating together. Quick thinking as usual, the little ghost quilt decides that if his friends can't go out for the holidays, he can bring some holiday cheer to them!
This is a lovely addition to this series, and a perfect book for the holiday season. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for an honest review.

A spectacular follow up to the Little Ghost who was a Quilt!
An enchanting story with superb illustrations, huge commendations to both author and illustrator. As a quilter myself I was immediately drawn to the first book in this series and was so thrilled to see this second one. I love the references to the Little Ghost Quilts ‘binding’ and ‘batting’ and how it’s ‘stitches tingled with excitement’.
The story was charming and the illustrations perfectly depicting a cozy winter day, though it would be a delete to read any day of the year.
Absolutely would recommend!

After enjoying, “The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt”, the continuation of its heartwarming tale did not disappoint! A perfect story for cold weather. The beautiful pastels against the sepia background create whimsical illustrations. Would absolutely recommend this book for a cold winter night, reading under a nice warm quilt!

We so enjoyed the first Little Ghost Quilt book and were thrilled to see there was another one. This was such a cozy read that will be perfect for the holiday season-- especially for my youngest who loves ghosts all year long. Much like the first book the illustrations pull you into the setting and the use of color to bring to life the Christmas celebration was such a treat. We loved that Little Ghost Quilt stayed focus on wanting to share the magic with his ghost friends along with all of the details in the illustrations.

A nice follow up to the first book in the series, although you don't really have to read them in order. The artwork is lovely and continues to walk a line between somber and whimsical. Ghost Quilt is again discovering things about his uniqueness and how it impacts his friendships with the other ghosts who are sheets. This one is set around Christmas, so it makes a great gift for littles who may be looking for something that ties together both Halloween and Christmas. And who may not be ready for Jack Skellington and Sally.
All in all, the lessons here are again conveyed softly and with sensitivity. The only thing that I found a bit problematic was that there seemed to be a few jumps in the plot here and there. Nothing major but I did have a moment of pause.
If you are looking for a fun book about ghosts for young ones, and you also want to tackle Christmas, this is a must. If you're looking for a nice story and some pretty pictures for bedtime reading, also a great choice.

We love the little ghost quilt book at school! Adorable. Loved it. It’s always nice to have a cute winter story about friendship.

I really enjoyed the story of the ghost quilt’s adventure. I can see this book being used for a children’s program centered around a theme of thoughtfulness with an activity that involves designing quilt patterns. I can see various programs being created with this book as the center piece.

As big fans of the original Little Ghost Who Was A Quilt, my daughter and I were positively delighted to give this one a read. And it lived up! This story was full of the same heartwarming adventure and delightful bravery and friendship as the first. My daughter ooh’d and ahh’d at the beautiful Christmas lights on the pages, and we all thought the finishing touch of the Christmas tree was so sweet. Can’t wait to grab a copy of this one for our Christmas book collection!

There’s so much to love about this children’s book — from the adorable illustrations to a new cross-holiday loving character. Fans of the first story “The little ghost who was a quilt” and fans of “There’s a ghost in the attic” by Oliver Jeffers will love this winter story about the ghost quilt!
At 48 pages this is a bit of a longer children’s book yet it didn’t feel long and would be perfect for many ages (3-9). My 6 year old loved this book and also gave it 5 stars.
Thank you to NetGalley, Riel Nason and Tundra books for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

super cute! thinking about buying and gifting it to one of my baby cousins when it officially releases as it is just such a perfect childrens book!

This was such a cute little story about a Ghost made from a colorful blue quilt instead of a white sheet and discovered Christmas in the human neighborhood and wanted his other ghost friends to see so he decorated their ghost house with a Christmas tree of his own and celebrated it with his ghost friends. Such a cute read!

What a boo-tiful tale! First of all, the prose rolls off the tongue nicely and is fun to read aloud. There are fun plays on words like booooookkkss and boo-tiful. The character is quite adorable since he is made from a quilt unlike the other ghosts. Our story takes place in a charming winter wonderland, and our ghost discovers the joys of the holiday season from decorating the tree with lights to getting together with close friends and family to do crafts and enjoy one another’s company. Ghost Quilt brings the joy of the holidays to his beloved friends who are delighted in decorating a tree of their own. A special treat for the spooky soul who just can’t quite leave Halloween behind, this kooky picture book with warm your soul and bring a smile to your face!

This is a lovely Christmas companion to The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt. It is about the little quilt ghost helping his friends enjoy the magic of the Christmas season. They are not able to go outside and see Christmas lights and decorations themselves, so he brings it to them. It’s a great message about friendship and using your unique gifts to help others. I hope the author continues to write books in this series. Thank you to NetGalley and Tundra Books for the ARC.

Sooo sweet! This was a lovely follow-up to The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt. I enjoyed the illustrations, colors, and cute ghosty friendships.

Loved this charming Christmas book! My daughter got so excited when she realized the lights that were drawing the little ghost in were Christmas lights. The illustrations are fun and beautiful! We loved it! Thank you to Tundra books and NetGalley for this free ARC!

This is a sweet story about a little ghost who is just a bit different than all of their friends - and the pros and cons of being different. The illustrations are adorable and the story conveys several messages that are great for young children to hear. I can’t wait to read this to my students next fall/winter. Definitely recommend for parents and libraries.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I think it's perfect for children who like a little sweet, a little spooky, and holidays. I immediately was caught by the title of this book and the illustrations and stayed for the wonderful story. A mixture of ghosts and the winter/Christmastime is relatable for a lot of children and parents as between October through December are really when those fun times and memories are made! I also enjoyed the lesson that despite differences and what makes your differences beneficial, you can come together to use those differences to enjoy your friendships.
Once this is published, I will definitely be purchasing a copy for my little one.

The Little Ghost Quilt's Winter Surprise by Riel Nason and illustrated by Byron Eggenschwiler continues the story of our favorite ghost quilt from The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt. This time the Little Ghost finds strength in his differences by being able to fly around in the winter because his quilt keeps him warm. While he does this, he stumbles across new decorations in the human town and all he can think about is sharing them with his friends.
This book shares a beautiful story of finding strength in your differences, making joy out of what you have even if it is a little different, and most of all, sharing that joy with your people. While Nason brings the reader on a journey that builds off of the first book in the series, it is absolutely not necessary to read or remember the details of the first story to still find value in this one. Nason paces the story in a way that is entertaining for both children and adults and provides plenty of pausing points to discuss the aspects of the book with the kiddo.
Aside from the adorably perfect story, the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. Eggenschwiler's work is cozy and beautiful while still adding some haunting touches. The pops of color, scattered throughout in all the right places, helped highlight the haunting and slightly spooky setting which the little ghost fills with joy. I particularly loved the illustration on the last page. I will not spoil it, but I hope you go see it for yourself!
I highly recommend both books in this series to any parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, big sister or brother, teacher, and librarian who will listen. If you have a little one in your personal or professional life, read this book!
