Loved this I remember watching the story on some crime tv show and i have seen some of her reality TV show. What to read this to see it from Gypsy Rose’s point of view. Also to see how she’s doing now etc and was more excited about knowing the audiobook is read by her I love when authors narrate their own books. This was great to get her side of everything before and after and her life story the pacing was great perfect length to tell the story never felt slow gypsy does talk like she’s very well educated which is ironic since her mum didn’t even let her go to school. It’s sad to think prison was the closest to freedom and school she got. The story did make me feel for her and grateful for her sharing it with us. It was very well done.

NOTE: I I did try to leave my five star review on Goodreads but it’s not letting you right now due to review guide guidelines as of people saying nasty things who aren’t even reading the book when able to leave review I will just letting you know why my is not on Goodreads

I've watched documentaries, The Act, and I've even followed Gypsy-Rose on Instagram. So I feel like I know a decent amount about her story but hearing it straight from the source makes a difference.

I was nervous about GR's writing but fortunately she had some help which I think all memoir writers should have. I could tell some parts where it didn't seem like the usual thinking of GR but in others, you could clearly see she had freedom to write in her own way. Some parts are cringey and awkward and I think that's true to who she can be.

Gypsy-Rose's voice is well known and I know some people may find it annoying. I think her voice is actually pretty standard and can definitely be toned down. I never found myself irritated over it.

I think she showed remorse and concern over the people she hurt alongside her mother. I have my own personal opinions on her case but at the end of the day, she was tried and she did her time. Let's just leave her alone if we don't like her. A lot of the reviews on her book are extremely hateful and nasty. Obviously some trolls have decided to review books without reading them or decided to read the book even though they already knew they hated her.

Only time will tell how GR chooses to live her life and do the things she says she wants to rpotect other children in similar situations. I truly wish her the best and I'm glad I read the book. Thank you to NetGalley, Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, Melissa Moore, Michele Matrisciani, and RB Media. I have written this review voluntarily and honestly.

This memoir elicited so many emotions and thoughts, questions, ethics etc. I enjoyed how it made me think about my own thoughts and beliefs, but it left me with mixed thoughts on it overall and I had a hard time remaining interested at certain parts

Thanks to the publisher/RB Media, viaNetGalley, for an audiobook listening copy in exchange for an honest review.

Disclaimer: I’m providing stars on NetGalley because it's required, but will not post stars anywhere else. At the time of submission of this Netgalley feedback, I was unable to leave a review on GoodReads, so this is not posted there. (note: was able to post it the next day after submitting this originally)

This is Gypsy-Rose’s account of the abuse she endured and the events that led to her imprisonment. If you’ve followed her case in other documentaries/media interviews then you’ve heard the gist of everything she shares in this book.

The two authors that wrote this for Gypsy put together a well-written book, so props to them. As far as the actual content of the memoir, I naively expected Gypsy to show SOME level of accountability for her actions, but I thought wrong. I have a lot of thoughts, but that’s neither here nor there and irrelevant to reviewing the book.

If you’re going to read this, be prepared for some very detailed information that nobody needed to know (especially when it’s about other people and not involving her). It’s clear that some of the trauma she endured has led her to have an overly sexualized lens about many things. I hope all of the people involved in her life/past get the support they need.

As someone who never really like Gypsy rose I finally understand her side. She’s a poor girl who was taken advantage of by several people who just wanted a normal life bless her heart

I couldn’t get into this. I’m not sure why. I didn’t mind her as the narrator; I was interested in hearing her story. I know almost nothing about her. I don’t remember her arrest on the news and haven’t watched any documentaries or films about her (for example) sorry

I did this one as an audiobook and the book is ready by GRB.

I don’t really believe in “rating” memoirs because you can never fully know someone else’s “truth” or their perception of events.

A lot of people have lots of thoughts on the Gypsy-Rose story and Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder.

I think people who have been victimized will be able to empathize with other victims to an extent and let’s be honest, we can all say we know how we’d react in a certain situation but you never truly know unless you’re in it.

That being said some of the things described in the book are, as they say on SVU, “especially heinous.”

This entire story was bizarre and seemed made up but we know for a fact that most, if not all actually did happen.

Either way you look at it, she was given a sentence and whether you agree with that sentence or not…she served her time and this is her story.

I have been aware of Gypsy-Rose’s story for a long time and was curious to hear the story in her own words. While some of it was what I knew, there was so much more I did not. It was very interesting to hear in her words how she felt or what she thought was happening as a child and how she pieced together the truth. There were some shocking moments and there was a lot of insight into the crime and time in prison. It was quite the jump that she was married to someone, then divorced and expecting a child with another. We did not get any insight into that, but everyone is entitled to keep some things private.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I'm glad Gypsy was able to sit down and tell her side of everything in this memoir. The world's perception of Gypsy up until she was released was solely based on the media from the trial, interviews while in prison, and The Act. Within My Time To Stand goes through everything from small memories in her childhood up until she was released from prison at the end of 2023. I cannot imagine going through some of the traumatic events she has faced in her life. Her being able to narriate her own memoir was the best choice.

The challanges I had with this book are the following. First off I am disgusted that there is absolutely NO TRIGGER WARNINGS, there needs to be and why there isn't I have no clue. Throughout this book there are contradictions so it's hard to believe which is the truth or if it lies somewhere in the middle. Fact checking before putting this book together should of been high on the check list and it seems that things fell through the cracks that stories have changed throughout the years so again it leaves the reader questioning if you can believe the author.

Thank you NetGalley and RBmedia for providing me with an audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review.

**This review will be written without any biases on the criminal case itself.

***At the time this review was written, Goodreads has turned off reviews for this book.

It was really nice to hear Gypsy’s side of the story after hearing everything from social media the past year or so. I cannot imagine enduring what she endured, and being able to come out of it as she did.

Luckily, the book itself was written well (I assume due to the other two authors who contributed). It all flowed well, and was easy to follow.

I listened to this, and I think Gypsy’s voice really made this a better experience. If you read this (which I recommend you do if you’re into true crime and/or memoirs), I definitely recommend the audiobook.

Typically I do not rate memoirs as it is someone’s personal experience. If I were to rate this book, I would give it a 3.75/5, rounded to a 4!

I loved this audio book.

Even though I am familiar with the Gypsy rose case I loved hearing it from her perspective from beginning to end. I love how she started the book talking about her childhood. I learned so many things about her case, her life ect that I didn’t know about.

Such an interesting and emotional read.

Gypsy finally tells the world her side of the story in her own way. And it's nice that she also got to do the narration herself. This is a very informative book. A lot of new information is shared by Gypsy about her life and a lot of her upbringing. She gets pretty vulnerable at times and opens up about things that I'm sure were very hard for her to relive through the memories. And she does a wonderful job narrating her own story. If you're a supporter of her then you should definitely read this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and RBmedia for allowing me to listen to this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

i enjoyed this book.
i appreciate the authors, and net galley for giving me the ability to read gypsy’s full length book. i read the short writings upon release so i appreciate the book for a review. i did try to review on goodreads but it is currently not allowing me to post a review(if you’re reading this on goodreads, i made it). i have full intentions of posting when allowed.
i listened to the audiobook which is read by author which i like. i am neutral in my approach to gypsy overall, i don’t hate her and i see flaws in her, but i also empathize with her story. the book was written well enough and i enjoyed reading and got through quick because it was easy but also because it engaged me.
many will read this book, empathizers, those with dislike for gypsy, and those curious about the story.
though the reviews are overwhelmingly hateful, the story was explained fairly candid with some accountability.
i could have heard less about gypsy and nicks relationship but you know what i guess it was important to the story too.
overall i didn’t hate the book, and feels candid to me.

I have been following Gypsy’s story for years, I find it very interesting and was immediately invested. I love this audiobook, hearing her side of the story and also in her voice. Things you haven’t heard before coming to light, the things she went through to get to where she is now. I really enjoyed this audiobook!

Thank you NetGalley for the ALC!

Thank you to NetGalley and BenBella Books for the ARC.

I was so curious about this story. You never know when you read a story if it is all true, of course. However, I wanted to get more of the story. I listened to the audiobook and I thought she did a good job narrating it. I like when the author narrates.

I am conflicted on what to think at this point; if she is a victim or a perpetrator. She admits she is both. Her life did seem very sad and terrible and it is tragic how things ended with her mom as well. It is hard to write a review on a book like this though but it was worth the short listen.

I am torn on how to give this review. The audio book was fantastic. The narration was great, but there are so many inconsistencies with Gypsy- Rose's story! I feel as though her story changes to suit her needs. I really don't know how I feel about this one.

As someone who has followed Gypsy Rose Blanchard's story, I deeply appreciated her vulnerability and willingness to be an open book in My Time to Stand. Her courage to lay bare her experiences, emotions, and personal growth is both compelling and admirable. Gypsy’s honesty makes this memoir a valuable insight into her journey of reclaiming her life after years of unimaginable abuse.

That said, I found the writing style to be a bit inconsistent with Gypsy’s authentic voice. If you’ve ever heard her speak, there’s a natural, conversational way she expresses herself that didn’t always translate onto the page. At times, the narrative felt more polished or formal than expected, which created a slight disconnect between the Gypsy we know and the words in the book.

However, despite the stylistic choices, My Time to Stand remains a heartfelt and powerful story of survival and self-discovery. It’s clear Gypsy poured her heart into sharing her truth, and for that, I commend her. If you value raw honesty and the power of reclaiming your voice, this book is still worth the read.

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book. I received an arc audio of My Time To Stand. I really tried to come into this book with an open mind and just listen. The book was very well-written and I really enjoyed hearing it read by Gypsy herself. It was awful to hear the terrible things that Gypsy went through by the hands of her mother. It is really hard to imagine having such a sheltered life where you do not know that your normal is, in face, not normal. I think it was very brave of her to write this memoir through her own eyes and feelings. I would actually love to read another book from her once she becomes a mother.

I listened to the audiobook and the author is the narrator. It took a couple of chapters to get used to her voice and there was a surprising lack of emotion while telling her own story. An editor was needed as this book is full of inconsistencies, sometimes from one paragraph to the next. There was at least one major inconsistency per chapter-usually much more so I don’t know which was actually true. I was left with a lot more questions than answers and I would not recommend this book as it was so poorly written.

Gypsy's memoir of a horrific childhood that she endured at the hands of her mother. Overall a very interesting memoir. I feel like Gypsy's narration was easy to follow as a listener. TW: molestation, abuse, murder.
