I always enjoy a Sharon Sala book and this new series, like her Blessings series has relatable characters, an interesting setting, and a nice, easy story. The setting is Crossroads Texas, Sonny has a strong Native American life, and Maggie is the girl who believes she was thrown away as a baby but they make a great couple. Lots of interesting secondary characters who I hope we continue to see in succeeding books. Love her writing with the setting as Ms. Sala does such a good job of describing. All in all, a very satisfying read.

A heartwarming new series by one of my favorite authors. After his last devastating ride, when he almost died, world champion bull rider Sonny Bluejacket has retired. When he receives an unexpected inheritance, he heads for his new ranch in Crossroads, Texas. This just might be the beginning of his new future and a way to leave behind the father who wants him dead. Meeting Magnolia “Maggie” Brennen, at the Yellow Rose Café, adds to his thoughts of a new beginning. Maggie, familiar with the ranch and the former owner, offers to tell him what she knows about the ranch operation. Learning that horses were stolen, he involves law enforcement to get them back. When he has a vision about his young niece, he believes that the “Old Ones” are responsible for his visions as well as his miraculous recovery. With their combined desire to watch evening sunsets, a simmering attraction slowly develops between Sonny and Maggie. He makes her feel as if she “belongs” for the first time since she was abandoned at birth. When he learns of her painting, he encourages her to show the world her amazing work and talent. Will his father finally track him down and will Sonny be able to keep them both safe from his father’s wrath? The author is experienced at weaving a story with characters who will stay in your thoughts long after you finish the book. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Sunset is Sharon Sala’s first book in her new romantic suspense series, Crossroads, which is set in Texas. This book is a must-read for all fans of Sharon Sala and romantic suspense. The story contains a sweet romance between a Native American hero and a resilient waitress. Unlike her Blessings and Jubilee series, Sunset contains some supernatural and tribal magic elements like what was in Legend, Tallchief, The Healer, The Warrior, and Touchstone.
Sonny Bluejacket was a world-champion bull rider until he was bucked off a bull and critically injured. He died twice on the operating table and was revived. Now he’s retired from the rodeo circuit, living with his brother and family in Oklahoma. When his good friend, Emmet Cooper, passes away, Sonny inherits a horse ranch outside of Crossroads, Texas. When Sonny arrives in Crossroads, he stops to eat at The Yellow Rose, a popular café. His waitress is beautiful, and he’s instantly attracted to her. Her name is Magnolia "Maggie" Brennen, and she has a tragic background. Maggie was taken under the wing of the café owner, Pearl.
When Sonny gets to the ranch, he discovers that Emmet’s horses have been stolen. While organizing all the paperwork related to his inheritance, Sonny contacts the local sheriff regarding the horses. Sonny and Maggie begin a relationship, and he discovers that she’s a talented painter. He encourages her artistic pursuits, and she gets a good opportunity as a result. Sonny is busy with ranch duties and becoming part of the Crossroads community, but he is devoted to Maggie. Soon enough his no-good father comes around looking for a hand-out and threatens Sonny’s newfound happiness.
Sunset is an engrossing story because of the wonderful characters and the author’s amazing ability to describe scenes so clearly. Readers will fall in love with the characters in Crossroads; Sonny is a dreamboat and Maggie is so resilient. Readers will stay up all night reading to find out if Sonny and Maggie get their happily ever after and Sonny’s father gets his comeuppance. Sunset is a must-read for romantic suspense fans!

Sunset by Sharon Sala
Crossroads, Texas series #1. Contemporary romance. Diverse.
Sonny Bluejacket has inherited a ranch in Texas. On his way into town, he stops at a small local restaurant and meets Maggie Brennan, a waitress, full of sass and a secret talent for painting. They fall in love, survive a few road bumps and aim for the future.
Absolutely lovely. There was a bit of suspense in the first quarter, then the rest is life, love and created family. Sonny and Maggie in the happily ever after. Tears of happiness for them and their future.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased multiple formats of this novel to keep.
A feel good, feel happy, low angst, small town, Native American cowboy romance.

When I'm find out Sharon Sala has a new book I need to get my hands on it as soon as possible! This is the first book of a new series and it is everything that I expected and more. I relished the sweet and instant romance between Sonny and Magnolia and the challenges that they both face with grace and dignity is beyond the scope. Now I am so eager to read the next book. I can't wait!!!

I love this first book in a new series by Sharon Sala. Sonny inherits a farm in Crossroads and meets Maggie as soon as he gets off the bus. Their attraction is immediate and the storyline is just so good I didn’t want to put the book down. No one writes a story like Sharon Sala and she has continued her magic with this series. I can’t wait for the next one!

Sharon Sala is always a must read for me when she has a new book coming out. I was so happy to receive an advanced copy of Sunset, thank you NetGalley and Ms. Sala. While not as good as my favorite Sala book, Sweet Baby, I did enjoy this series starter, which is set in another small town like her previous series, Blessings, Georgia. You are really going to love both Sonny and Maggie.

Sunset by Sharon Sala ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Romance and suspense is what you'll get when you read Sharon's new book. Action and tension will keep you wanting more especially with all the characters telling you their story in this multi POV'S book. They share they love with the small town community, that's like no other.
Perfect ending and no cliffhangers.
Thank you Netgallery for this advanced ecopy for my honest review. Hope you pick up your copy today at your favorite retail store.

Chalk up one more excellent novel from Sharon Sala, as Sunset is the first novel in her new Crossroads series. This time she's given us two more characters to love, Magnolia and Sonny, and yes, it's an insta-love romantic suspense novel, but I never mind insta-love romances when Sharon Sala writes them. For this reader, it was a 5-star read.
What I especially loved about this novel was that Ms. Sala included a good deal of fascinating Native American culture, since Sonny is Native American, and the relationship between him and Maggie (Magnolia) was incredibly endearing. Maggie grew up in foster care, which made her a sympathetic character from the very beginning. Ms. Sala's characters in this novel are fully fleshed-out, and even Pearl, who owns the diner where Maggie works, has a heart of gold. Additionally, no one writes small-town romance the way Ms. Sala does.
There's plenty of mystery and suspense in this novel as well. Sonny has inherited a horse ranch, and his ne'er do well, absentee father wants in on his inheritance and is willing to go to any lengths to make that happen. Hang onto your hats when his nefarious plot takes a dangerous turn.
As small-town love stories go, this novel is a gem, and I'm very much looking forward to the next novel in this new series.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

A heartfelt romance with magical realism and kind leads, but held back by a slow pace and some repetitive moments. Pleasant and uplifting overall. This romance blends mysticism, light suspense, and heartfelt emotion in a small-town Texas setting. While I loved the kind, complex leads and the magical touches, the story sometimes felt told rather than experienced, with moments of melodrama and repetition that slowed the pace. Overall, it’s a pleasant, uplifting read with a unique mix of romance and magical realism.

This book has all the feels of a classic western Sharon Sala book with a definite contemporary vibe and is a beautiful start to a new series involving a small Texan town. I received an advanced reader copy of this book for free from NetGalley , the publisher and the author and am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts are my own.
Sonny is an ex bull rider and rodeo star with a second chance at life, in more ways than one. A chance inheritance changes the course of life, when he meets the love of his life in a small diner, in an equally small town. Maggie feels like she’s always the forgotten one, easily put aside by many in her life until coming to Crossroads, Texas. Then fate or destiny intervenes and the lives of these two change in an instant.
This is a somewhat insta romance, even though their relationship seemed like it clicked right from the start as a friendship. Both leads have had struggles but their realistic and straightforward attitudes have kept them from dwelling too much, letting them almost “click” right from the start. It is a soft romance with definite heat, just not much detail. The western/ cowboy angle is still contemporary yet carries a mystical nature that flows well with the story line.
Those familiar with the author will be happy to see many interesting characters introduced in this new series, as she’s known for her small town vibes, and as I previously mentioned an almost old-time / early on in her writing sensation ( I adore her stories with visions). I loved that there are many little twists throughout the book, so it’s more than just a “simple” relationship and even better in my opinion is how she always closes the loop for each side story. 5 stars and I can’t wait for book 2.

I absolutely loved this story! It's full of a great cast of characters. The romance is everything you could want. I enjoyed the community. There's action and tension. And there is a lot of heart. The ending was perfect and I was sad to say goodbye.

Emersed in the worlds that Sharon Sala builds. I want to meet Sonny, Magnolia, Pearl and the rest. I want to watch Sonny ride. I want to meet his brother Charlie and his family. Emersed. Sonny is part of the Indigenous People. There are so many levels to this book. Not just the plot but the bits and pieces we learn and revel in as Sonny shares. The level of giving from and love from Magnolia and Pearl. I could wax on and on. It's a book for people who want to share life in a small town with all its wonders good and bad. Thank you for the advanced copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #Sunset #Crossroads #SharonSala #SourcebooksCasablanca #NetGalley

This is a classic romance, which is definitely how I prefer my romance to come. I generally read Sharon Sala for her light Romantic-Suspense books, which I really like. This one is a mix of romance, mysticism and light suspense. It's a different kind of romance and a long one too. Several plot threads all weave round Sonny Bluejacket, but I didn't feel engaged by any of them. It felt like Sharon Sala was telling me the story instead of letting me experience it. 3 1/2-Stars
My thanks to the Publisher, and Author, for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

another great read by Sharon Sala. this is about an inherited horse ranch. I have read all of her books, and they are all great.

Sunset by Sharon Sala is a small town romance for sure but it is also a kaleidoscopic journey of so many souls tied to Crossroads. Sonny Bluejacket, the ex bull riding champion who survived death and was blessed by the ancestors, found more than his happily ever after with Sunset Ranch. He found peace, healing and happiness. Magnolia Brennen was a tortured soul behind her sweet smiles and sunshine persona but she found home with a man who is epitome of loyalty, protectiveness and righteousness. The journey wasn't an easy one. But it was rewarding and life changing.
🧡 small town romance
🧡 Native American hero
🧡 bull riders, horses and ranches
🧡 Third person POV of multiple characters
🧡 Touch of supernatural and tribal magic
I think this is only my second book where the hero comes from a native American Tribe. And not only that, he carries the ancestral magic and power inside him after his near death experience. It was humbling, fascinating and intriguing to read about the culture. Sonny is the best kind of man. Well respected, adored by everyone, with a strong sense of right and wrong. Sunset Ranch was left to him by the man who was part of the accident during a bull riding competition that left him
almost dead. So it's a full circle. A new beginning. His first meet with Magnolia in the diner set something fierce into action in his heart. I feel so sad for this beautiful woman. So kind hearted, sweet, lovable..yet she suffered so much heartbreak and abandonment. Sonny claimed her firmly and made her heart whole. Sonny had to deal with a lot before he could set the plans for their future in motion. Dealing with the thieves, handling the changes and most importantly, defeating his evil father. His visions helped him but Magnolia was his strength too. The story was like a river. With waves of different persons coming and going and affecting Sonny's life in tiny ways before they move with their own destinations. I loved this format of storytelling as I got to experience a myriad of emotions. Crossroads is a perfect setting with the stunning sunset vividly described by the author.

Sonny Bluejacket found himself heading to Crossroads, Texas. When his good friend, Emmet Cooper passed he left Sonny his horse ranch in the small Texas countryside. Upon his arrival he found that Emmet’s horses had been stolen. While working to organize all the paperwork of the inheritance he contacted the local sheriff regarding the whereabouts of his horses.
While stopping in Crossroads for a meal at The Yellow Rose, a popular cafe he was introduced to a waitress who was pleasant and quite lovely. Magnolia was a child who was left at a young age at the local fire station. She was in foster care her entire life until she turned eighteen. She did well in school and managed to find the owner of the cafe, Pearl. She gave her a small apartment for rent and a job at the cafe as a waitress. It was a welcome and loving home for Maggie.
Sunset will be published on June 03, 2025 by Source Books. I was able to read and review Sala’s latest novel via NetGalley. It is a delightful story of Sonny’s Native-American history and Magnolia’s lonely life until she arrived in Teas. The characters are charming and welcoming. It is the first book of the Crossroads series. Excellent!I look forward to reading the next.

Sunset has Sharon Sala’s signature style of telling a story with characters that I loved. This story takes place in Crossroads, Texas, a small town not big enough for its own police station. It does have a diner which is the center of town. You will feel right at home here.
Sonny Bluejacket’s, former bull rider, story is almost as interesting as Magnolia "Maggie" Brennen’s. Both have some heartbreaking parts but also show the resilience of both characters. I loved this story, which made me laugh with the best skunk story, mad a time or two, swoon a bit over Sonny’s total attention to Maggie, and some tears with Maggie’s speech near the conclusion. With a western favor Sunset is one great story for fans of Sharon Sala and for new fans to come.

Love this book! Good character development, interesting plot, unexpected twists and turns to hold your interest! It ended way too soon!

I love Sharon Sala and her Blessings, Georgia series, has a place of honor on my shelves. This is book 1 in her new series Crossroads. It is a wonderful love story of two people who both have been hurt in the past. Native American, Sonny Bluejacket died twice on the operating table after being stomped by a bull. When he inherits a ranch in Texas from that bulls owner it is the new start he needs in life. Maggie was left high and dry in Crossroads Texas on the steps of a diner where she now works. The two are blessed with finding each other and a wonderful story emerges. Don't miss this one.
