I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
This was just an okay storyline for me and I felt it kind of dragged on after a point. I enjoyed the characters and reading about the animals but felt bored by other parts.

This is the first book by Sharon Sala that I’ve read, and I can say that I’ll be looking for her back catalog. Circumstances dictate former rodeo bull rider Sonny’s move from his hometown. He’s immediately faced with the issue of stolen cattle & tack. At the same time, he’s enamored with a server at the local diner/cafe. It’s a sweet story that moves quickly, despite conflict with peripheral characters, to a satisfying end. I look forward to the next installment in this series.

I think my favorite part of this book was how quickly Maggie and Sonny fell in love. Usually, I’m skeptical when it comes to people who fall “in love” quickly. I’m a firm believer that you need to know someone before you can love someone.
But for some reason, this one worked. Maybe it’s because Maggie spent her life alone and recognized true love when it came along because she hadn’t run across so many versions before. And for Sonny? Well, when you go through some of the things that he’s been through, you appreciate what’s real and you don’t settle for what’s not.
The author did a great job, weaving back stories and current stories together. Also, although you may not be a believer in psychic phenomenon (I am), I didn’t feel that Sonny‘s “visions“ came across as unbelievable.

Sala's fans will enjoy this latest which sees Sonny a bullrider who started having visions after an injury and Maggie, an artist working a a waitress fall in love in a small town. It's got all the feels and it's got a bit of danger from Sonny's father (not a good man). Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. There probably won't be any surprises for you (there weren't for me) but it's a good read for a lazy day.

The reader knows what we get from a Sala novel. A stranger will come to a small, usually southwestern, town. He or she will find a love interest and lots of kind people to help the new person settle in. And there will be a few evil people who will be a threat in the background of doing bad things to our hero and heroine. That cloud will loom for the whole book and then get resolved rather quickly so everyone can have their HEA.
This book fits that pattern. The only new aspect is that the hero, Sonny, has visions of when someone is threatening a loved one. Real convenient, isn’t that?
The other characteristic of a Sala novel is how she goes into detail about daily, humdrum actions. If someone is going to make a meal, we see the person go to the grocery store, pick out items, pay for them, come back home, put things away, and prepare the dinner. Every time I read one of her books, I marvel that I don’t mind reading all these details. She does have a gift. I find I like the people in the little town and how they band together to help each other, Except for the town baddies, of course.
If her books appeal to you, you’ll enjoy this one. If you’re looking for a little more conflict between the main characters instead of their quickly falling in love with each other, this wouldn’t be the book for you.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Ms. Sala launches a brand-new series set in a small town in Texas. Sonny Bluejacket once a famous bull rider gets bucked off a bull and barely survives. Having used up all his money in his recovery he lives with his brother working with horses to make a living until an old friend leaves him his ranch in Crossroads Texas.
From his first meal at the Yellow Rose Cafe where Sonny meets Maggie, his life has taken a new turn. Here in Texas people still remember the famous bull rider. Here he also meets his destiny in the form of a horse like no other who seems to have been bred for Sonny. As Sonny gets down to the business of taking control of his ranch and finding all the stuff that has been left to him, Maggie helps him tremendously and more importantly she has become the significant other in his life.
Sonny and Maggie have a fair bit of excitement. Maggie, it turns out has been keeping secrets and is in a world class painter that Sonny will help put on the map through a friend of his. On the bad side, Sonny's father is determined to get a piece of Sonny's inheritance no matter that he has to kidnap or kill for it. The author keeps the story moving in a slow roll as is her wont in these rural romances.
I truly enjoy the world pictures of these slices of American that Ms. Sala brings to us but sometimes I get impatient, and I want the story to move faster though in this one she offers a fair amount of excite through Sonny's visions.

I loved reading the American Indian aspects of this story and made the story feel more real because of all of the details that were shared. Makes me look at Sunsets differently now. I enjoyed reading this book so much and I am telling everyone to read it and then reread it.

Good story. After nearly dying form a bull riding accident, Sonny receives an unexpected inheritance that gives him a chance to start over. Immediately he is drawn to Maggie Brennan, a waitress in Crossroads. Maggie has had a sad start to her life. She has experience abandonment all her life but she is still willing to give Sonny a chance. Theirs is a sweet romance with a little danger from Sonny's dad. Very much Sharon Sala's style.

Oh just wow
I can hear sonny talking in my head while I am reading this book. This is one amazing love story but not all slushy.
So glad sonny has them visions.
I can see Maggie watching the beautiful sunsets.
Sharon sala is a brilliant author she makes the characters and books come alive.
This book would make an amazing film and I can't wait to read it again.

A perfect small town romance.
Sonny and Maggie were so sweet. I adored them so much. Sonny was gone for Maggie from the moment he saw her. Both are going through rough times but find happiness in each other. I found their romance to be incredibly sweet and romantic.
This has the right balance of small town feels, romance and enough suspense to keep things interesting.
I flew through this book. Can't wait for the next one.

This is such a wonderful book. The writing is stellar. I adored Maggie. She is full of kindness. Sonny is a wonder. These two made me smile often throughout the book. It’s full of heart. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

I always find myself in awe when I read a story by Sharon Sala. Her writing and the characters she creates always leave me feeling so happy. I always wish that I could hop a bus and find myself in one of her worlds.
I enjoyed Sunset so much. There were times that I laughed myself silly and then there were time that I had to grab my tissues.
Sonny Bluejacket is a World-champion bull rider who had a terrible accident that ended his career. He's been living with his brother and his family when he gets an unexpected surprise. Once he strolls into Crossroads his life will forever be changed. He'll find love, friendship and a purpose that has been missing the last few years.
Magnolia Brennen has always felt like a throwaway, until she was dumped on the steps of The Yellow Rose and Pearl the owner took her in. She's a hard worker by day and a secret painter by night. Always watching and painting those Sunsets.
When Sonny and Magnolia first meet, you could see the chemistry flying off the pages. It didn't take much to know these two would have an incredible love story. Of course if you've read a Sharon Sala book before, you would know that there is always trouble brewing somewhere and it just has to be coming for Sonny. Sonny though will have none of that and is ready for when the storm comes.

This book was so wonderful. It took the reader to another place and the characters were so fun to follow. Wonderful summer read.

I love Sharon Sala's series Jubilee Kentucky so when I found out she had started a new series I couldn't wait to read it. Sunset is book one of the Crossroads series. It did not disappoint. It is the perfect small town romance story. Sonny is a champion bull rider who was injured in a rodeo and died twice on the operating table. He survived, retired from bull riding and inherited a ranch in Crossroad Texas. It is love at first sight with Maggie, a waitress who is the first person he meets in Crossroads. Their relationship grows as they get to know each other and new opportunities arise for each of them. Thanks for @NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Sonny Bluejacket is a rodeo man who was bucked off a bull and was critically injured. He died twice on the operating table and survived. He was given a gift. He was living with his brother and his family on his ranch, when he received word that he had inherited a ranch in Crossroads Texas. . He stopped at a dinner he was familiar with and the person he knew still owned it. There he met Maggie.. Follow their journey to see where it goes and also how with his gift, he saves his family. A GREAT READ. Looking forward to more in this series

Sharon Sala is hands down one of the best storytellers currently writing romance. Her latest book Sunset is another fabulous addition to her body of work. Former bull rider Sonny Bluejacket is lucky to be alive. He's living with his brother and family and working horses for others in the area. One day he receives a big surprise. An inheritance and a way to start the next chapter in his life. This begins Sonny's journey to Crossroads Texas and his meeting with local waitress Maggie Brennen. Maggie has been dealt the short hand in life but she keeps moving forward. After getting stranded in Crossroads, Texas, she has found friends and built a good life for herself. She would love more but has grown accustomed to accepting what she's been given in life. Sonny and Maggie are perfect together but there's a lot of bumps along their way to their HEA. I really loved this story. It made my heart smile. It was told from multiple POV and is very sweet with a bit of heat. I look forward to reading more stories set in Crossroads.

ARC REVIEW
Liked the premise of the book. The mystery and the romance are all there to enjoy and Sharon Sala is enjoyable.

Sharon Sala brings us the story of two souls who find each other in a cafe. We meet former bull rider Sonny Bluejacket on his way to Crossroads, Texas to claim his inheritance from a friend on the circuit. He meets waitress Magnolia Brennan when he enters The Yellow Rose cafe when he gets off the bus. Sparks fly off with that one encounter. Will they take that chance with each other even though the past has not always been kind to them? What happens when their past catches up with them? Will they trust each other or will doubt tear them apart? Follow along as you see how Sonny and Maggie react to what life throws at them.
Sharon Sala brings us the story of love, hate, revenge, and family. She brings us to the community of Crossroads, Texas which reminded me of the community of her Blessings series. Here we find those who mostly look out for each other with a few bad apples. We get to see how Sonny and Maggie help each other and how their past shaped their present and how the choices they make today will affect their tomorrow. Will they make the choices that keep each other in their lives or will what life throws at them be too much to handle? See what happens to Sonny, Maggie, their family, and their community.
I have read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this privilege.

Sharon Sala's new series kicks off with Sonny Bluejacket and Magnolia Brennen. Sonny is a bull rider who survived a trampling and Magnolia is a waitress who survived a rough start to life. They meet and soon love blossoms. Life isn't easy for either or them and they still have some trials to go through together before they can start their happily ever after.
Sala is a master at characters and these are no different. I loved Sonny and Maggie from the start. Their story was compelling so it was a very fast read. I didn't put the book down.
5 stars!

Sunset by Sharon Sala (Crossroads #1) 4.5 stars
A new small town romance series by Sharon Sala is an exciting event and this one does not disappoint. Sonny Bluejacket is a world champion bull rider that suffered a career ending injury in a rodeo. After dying nearly dying twice on the operating table, he survives the long rehabilitation and is living with his brother. He is surprised when a lawyer contacts him to tell him that he is the sole heir to property near Crossroads, Texas. The first person he meets in town is Maggie Brennen, a waitress at the Yellow Rose Café. You could say that romance blooms, but every rose has thorns and in this story there are bad people and outright evil to overcome.
I found this book to be reminiscent of Ms. Sala’s older novel when she was writing as Dinah McCall. The Native American themes and mysticism are part of the background of this book. I had a great time reading this book and look forward to the next book in this series.
Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for this ARC.
