Thank you NetGalley and IDW Publishing for the ARC!
As a fan of Monster High's gen 1, I found the new take on the main cast's dynamic interesting! The art is very pleasing to the eyes, my personal favorite being the story with Kieran and Spelldon.
The pacing however, could have been better. Once Bitten Twice Dead is pretty much a required reading if you want more details on why Draculaura is being so distant.
Overall, I would recommend this to every MH fan, new and old! I'm looking forward to reading the next volume.

Dare I say this was fangtastic? I love the humor of the Monster High series, and I could read many more comics about these characters. I’m especially interested to see how the mystery that was introduced in this volume plays out in the next installment!

As a long-time MH fan, this just didn’t feel like it fit the stories I grew up with and continue to read. It was confusing at parts because of that ;(. If someone was just getting into MH then I would recommend but not for a long-time fan!! There was also way too many wordplays and puns for my liking compared to the usual amount in Monster High.

fun, silly and cute! i love the art style & seeing all the outfits & i will definitely pick up the next one <3

I used to have three little sisters so I have had Monster High in my house for a long time. This novella was super cute and the drawings were really fun. Loved the new storylines and the cut scenes.
Would def buy and recommend for teens and ya.

Monster High New Scaremester Volume 1
I really love Monster High. My kids used to watch it all the time and this book brought me right back to it. There’s drama, hi-jinx and teen angst a plenty. I love the queer representation in this book. Being queer myself finding characters I have loved for a long time that had something in common with me was nice and refreshing. This book has me desperate to read Once Bitten Twice Dead. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much to IDW publishing and Netgalley for giving me a chance to read this arc!

This comic book was perfect and more than I expected. The mixture of the unique storyline and a beautiful art style made a book I couldn’t put down.
The unexpected storylines have a twist that any fan of the web series and movies can enjoy, without the characters being carbon copies.
New dynamics between specific characters stole my heart the most.
However the only downfall were the constant monster and spooky puns. They mostly felt forced as each ghoul used them in pretty much every sentence

I grew up adoring monster High. I begged for every doll, every play set. I even had a bed set! So when i seen this little comic i got so excited at the newer audience it will reach. I personally love the character Changes. The lgbtq+ representation was so Good and i would of loved it growing up. I still love it now!
The little story line is genuinely good because why did i genuinely get grumpy seeing to he continued, absolutely need volume 2 asap.
The art is beautiful, its colorful and the monster lingo is such a fun thing to see!

Thank you net galley for the arc.
It was a cute and quick read. Excited to continue with the series

I was obsessed with the monster high movies when I was in middle school so I’m already familiar with all the characters and their backstories. Despite my preexisting knowledge and preferences (I loved Frankie), this comic felt like such a fresh, fun take on the characters and their dynamics as friends! I’m super intrigued by who’s behind the disappearances and what actually happened with the friend group and how everyone is going to come together again! There were only a few moments, regarding some of the puns and scary monster wordplay, where I was taken out of the story and I don’t think I’m alone in that. In theory it’s very cute and campy but trying to follow along with the story with so many puns is a bit difficult at times. The illustrations are by far the best part of the reading experience. I surprisingly really enjoyed the makeover the ghouls got despite being a Gen1 truther. I’d recommend this to anyone who loved the movies when they were younger and were interested in a new dynamic between the ghouls with a side of mystery.
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this ARC!

This was a fun read, but I didn't love it as much as I expected to. Shoutout to the artist, the art was amazing!

This brought back all of the nostalgia of Monster High. The characters going through situations middle and high schoolers can relate to, while inserting humor, character, and friendship. I love all the funny/cute puns around monsters, the different lore and history behind how the monster world works. The art work is true to the Monster High of my childhood, and I love it so much.

A super diverse and creative reimagining of the ghouls we already know and love! A modern mix on monster high with new relationships and angst between beloved monsters.
I found this to be a really fresh take on monster high as someone who has been a long time fan and collector. I can’t wait to continue the series and expand into the other media coming out for monster high that was given a nod to in this first installment!

I've been a fan of Monster High for over a decade and I've even gotten my niece interested in the series. My favorite characters are the lesser known Robecca Steam and Scarah Screams. They may not have as much screen time as the main ghoul girls, but they're special to me. Monster High: New Scaremester was an interesting comic showcasing another year with the teenage monsters of New Salem. From vampires to mummies to werewolves, this school has got them all. I absolutely adored the artwork and the endless puns, but this didn't quite do it for me. The dialogue bubbles were too verbose and the plotlines were incredibly dramatic. Certain couples didn't make sense to me, especially considering they were "immortal" enemies. This was a light read and it ended on a major cliffhanger. I'm conflicted on whether or not I'll continue the series, but that artwork was pretty compelling. Whatever my decision, I'm sure these ghouls will support me no matter what.

A fun read! This reminded me a bit of reading Archie comics when I was younger at moments. More spooky and with more queer rep though! The stories were cute and weaved together nicely; curious how they'll continue it.

honestly I'm just a really really big monster high fan over here.
I loved this so much. adding lore to some more characters and giving them more depth was amazing to see and read!
AND it's JUST SO PREEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!! Thank you for making this. i hope this comic series keeps going forever.

I loved the art and the colour scheme. I can see tweens enjoying the silly sweet puns, the sisterhood and the fashions. But I found the actual story plot/arc to be confusing.

First of all, I wanna start with these illustrations are AMAZING!! My jaw was on the floor when I saw this on NetGalley and I ran to request it. Sadly, I feel like fell short for me. This didn’t really follow the lore that is Monster High and because of that I was put off. I feel like if this wasn’t revolved around the story of Monster High it would make a great story and I would have enjoyed it more, but because I grew up watching all of the movies and all of the episodes, I had a hard time liking this. I did not like that Cleo is not fearleading captain, I feel like that’s a major component in this series. Also, I feel like Clawdeen and Torelli didn’t make much sense to me,if anyone were to be paired with Torre I feel like it would be Cleo since they have the most chemistry. I have always felt that Clawdeen was never meant to have a partner and would just be on her own. Maybe she would be attracted to both male and females, but for the most part she would remain on her own. I never knew that a lot of people shipped her as liking girls. I know that there is more to the story of Clawdeen and Deuce, but I felt like it doesn’t make sense that it caused a breakup. Everyone knows that him and Cleo are endgame, especially her best friends, so how would there be a confusion that there’s something there. If anyone Cleo would confront them about what they are hiding. I found it completely random that Draculaura’s dad is somehow dead too? Where is the relationship between her and Clawd??
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.

This was a super nostalgic graphic novel as someone who grew up with and played with Monster High. I loved the art style of this so much and story was great. I can't wait to read the next volume.

This seems a little bit all over the place, like two stories were put together into one volume. This is definitely not something you can pick up if you haven't watched the show, as it assumes you know a whole lot of backstory that I was lost on.
