Well written, fast paced and full of twists.
The author skillfully tells the story from multiple points of view and timelines.
I would love to have ride or die friends such as Mel, Chloe, GiGi and Whitney.
The crime is twisted with far reaching entanglements. I'd love it if this were a series.

No Body No Crime is a tense, emotionally layered thriller that explores themes of love, loyalty, and survival in a rural setting. Tess Sharpe creates a compelling narrative centered on Mel Tillman, a private investigator with a complicated past, who is drawn back into the mystery surrounding the disappearance of her former lover, Chloe Harper.
The novel’s strength lies in its character development. Mel and Chloe’s relationship is portrayed with nuance, capturing the complexity of past wounds and unresolved feelings. Their interactions bring a raw emotional depth to the story, which elevates it beyond a typical thriller. The small-town atmosphere adds to the claustrophobic tension, where secrets are tightly held and danger can come from unexpected places.
Sharpe’s plotting is intricate and keeps readers guessing with well-placed twists. The pacing balances moments of reflection with bursts of action, although some sections devoted to backstory can slow down the narrative momentum. The writing style is engaging, with a voice that feels authentic to the characters and setting.
The inclusion of queer romance is handled thoughtfully, integrated naturally into the mystery rather than feeling like a token element. This adds an important layer of representation without detracting from the suspense.
Overall, No Body No Crime offers a strong mix of emotional complexity and thrilling mystery. It will appeal to readers who enjoy character-driven thrillers with queer protagonists and a deep sense of place.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy.

If you're looking for a fun book with lots of twists and turns and some fun heroines, this is the book for you! I wasn't sure what to expect but the story was really fun. The characters are well written and have fun quirks to them. Thank you to #netgalley for the arc!

"No Body No Crime" was a very enjoyable thriller. The story features a number of formidable women, especially Chloe and Mel. Mel's upbringing has given her no choice but to become tough and resourceful -- it was the only way to survive. Chloe had a very different upbringing, but found herself in a situation where she had no choice (at least as she saw it) but to use the privileges of her upbringing and the skills she had learned as a rancher's daughter to escape and hide in order to protect the ones she loved until she could figure out how to bring down the "Dicks" -- Big Daddy, Richard, Rick, Junior -- men who were powerful and corrupt and will stop at nothing to protect their "kingdom." The story is full of twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing, especially as many of the characters actions or inactions have been based on incorrect assumptions, which sets in motion events that will have life-altering consequences later. There is also an unexpected humor element with a flock of feral peacocks.

the premise was so good I couldn't wait to start this for a while now especially with the yellowjackets vibes but was disappointed and thought about dnf this book two times.
the plot starts right off with the plane crash and from there we follow mel and chloe from different timelines. it started off like any other book where you're set in the past and what brought them to this point but nothing really happens practically, the characters feel flat and most of the times I forget they're full grown adults🤷 I think the only character I actually liked was whitney. (I won't get to how I skimmed through rick's chapters after the first one)
I pushed through the last 50% hoping for more plot twists I might miss on if I dnf but was left in a ditch really, there's not much suspense you'd expect with the whole premise given beforehand but it was pretty lackluster, and I wish there was more to the ending on how everything was dealt.
Thank you Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Tess Sharpe and Netgalley for this ARC.

I’m a big fan of Tess Sharpe’s stories, and this one hits just as hard as all of her previous work. You’ve got the classic Sharpe points of badass bisexual women, revenge, justice, and at times humour, with everything in between. No Body No Crime is entertaining, filled with twists and turns, exciting, and romantic, with both Chloe and Mel as epic new protagonists.
The antagonists felt a little bit cartoonish at times, dealing with peacocks and continuous escape, and although it took me a little bit out of the story at times, it doesn’t really negatively impact my overall appreciation for the book.
Definitely a fun time, would recommend if you’re looking for more strong bisexual characters in your life!

I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily posting a review. All opinions are my own.
Having loved previous books by Tess Sharpe, I was unrealistically excited when I saw the title of her next book, No Body No Crime. On top of referencing one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs, it promised a sapphic romance! But sadly, this book did not deliver, as either a thriller or romance (and it’s categorized on NetGalley as both).
I was already in more of a bad mood with books with a dual timeline element, thanks to an anticipated book I DNFed. So picking up this one and finding out it did similar things was not pleasant. But I stuck it out, because the writing at least engaged me, and while it was a bit confusing, I had faith it would come together. It didn’t. While the entire book isn’t like this, and the timelines do converge midway, I didn’t feel like the book was better for having done this…it just made it feel very disjointed, especially as the main distinguishing factors were headings anticipating key pivotal events to the characters’ lives, yet I failed to feel really invested in how they changed them.
And this brings me to the characters. I just did not care about them. They’re clearly meant to be deeply shaped by tragedy and murder, but I felt nothing for these people. I did not care about their fates, or their supposed feelings for each other, so any “romance” element subsequently fell flat. It just felt bland and flavorless.
But along with Sharpe’s writing, she can craft a compelling action scene, so I did somewhat enjoy that aspect, even if it lacked any real substance to keep me engaged. And the book is briskly paced, so while I found myself disengaged, at least the pages flew by somewhat quickly.
While I wasn’t a huge fan of this book, I’m not surprised, given it does certain things I don’t typically enjoy, both in thrillers and generally. However, the reviews generally trend toward the favorable, so I’m clearly in the minority here. As such, I’d recommend consulting other reviews before making your decision, and would recommend it if you’re a more avid thriller reader and don’t mind a somewhat odd dual timeline structure.

I do love a good Tess Sharpe book and this one sounded so good.
I really liked Mel and Chloe. They're both strong and resilient and smart as fuck. Gigi was a delight and added some levity. The best part was reading Mel and Chloe reconcile what happened as 16 year olds and how it shaped their lives and present situation.
Plot wise, it was really good. The past and present chapters kept the story unfolding at a deliciously maddening slow pace. I am trying to be vague because this went in a way I wasn't at all expecting and I am here for it...and don't want to ruin it for anyone else.
Overall, this was a fun and sarcastic story with women who were so easy to root for. I can't wait for the next book from Tess.
**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC of this book!
4.5 stars, rounded up.
I am a huge fan of Tess Sharpe's YA books and push The Girls I've Been into as many of my students' hands as possible, so I was thrilled to read her second adult thriller. I loved it! No Body No Crime tells the story of Chloe and Mel, who are bonded forever due to 2 things--hiding a body and falling in love. Chloe disappeared as a result and Mel, who is a PI, is hired to find her. This story has some of my favorite things in books--brilliant, badass women and stupid men. I loved Chloe and Mel's characters and thought their longing for one another was really sweet. The mystery and action kept me hooked (I read this in 2 sittings) and I think this is a perfect book for someone who enjoys thrillers but doesn't necessarily want something SUPER dark. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of unsavory and unlikable characters, but I didn't find anything disturbing. I thought the multiple POVs and timelines worked well and I was able to follow along without issue. If you are a high school teacher and have students who really like Sharpe's work, I think this would be fine for more mature/advanced teen readers. There is nothing too graphic about the romance and while there is violence, it wasn't overly gory.

*4.5 ⭐️
This was so fun and fast paced. I found the timeline and POV jumps a bit confusing but they also kept me engaged and I spent the whole read desperately wanting to know. The sapphic yearning in this was perfect and I loved their relationship and Chloe and Mel as characters. Overall amazing read and truly solidifies Tess Sharpe as an auto-buy author for me!
Thank you netgalley & the publisher for an eArc of this book in exchange for an honest review

I really enjoyed this book! I was a bit confused to start with the time jumps especially as I kept picking it up when I didn’t have much time to read but then I reached the 10% mark and could not put the book down.
This follows two women through their lives ages 16-24 and all the drama that occurred through out. But it does it in a way where the chapters start by telling you the time in reference to one of many events which can be a bit difficult to wrap your head around at the start especially when you’re trying to figure out what happened too. Once I got past the initial confusion I was swept up and fell in love with all the characters! Mel and Chloe were such loveable main characters even if you did want to scream at them to talk and not run but at times they are children so you cut them some slack. Their love story was extra icing on top and I just wanted them to be together and happy!
The ending brought the rating of the book down a bit because while I loved the women it all felt a bit too easy and fantastical. A lot of this book I had to suspend my disbelief because how but I put it down to police never doing their job properly and could move on but the ending it felt a bit harder to do.
However, overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone who wants to read a book about bisexuals, murder, love, friendships and mystery.

I will never love any book more than I love The Girls I've Been duology by Tess Sharpe. Nobody writes character-driven thrillers like her. I absolutely devoured this book. It's the first adult book I've read by her (the main characters are 24, so it's kinda like new adult, but I always struggle to define where the new adult genre begins/ends, LOL). I didn't love it as much as TGIB (I honestly wasn't expecting to, though, haha). But it kept me on the edge of my seat. I felt myself stop breathing at certain points (I kept having to remind myself "jules get a grip this is fiction these characters are not your friends"). Yes, not everything was realistic or believable, so you have to suspend your disbelief a little bit.
I feel like I'm in the minority here, but the dual timeline (more like multi-timeline, because there are chapters from when they are 16, 18, two hours ago, present, etc.) didn't bother me. It might be because I'm used to Tess Sharpe's writing style; this is how she writes all her books, and she somehow always delivers a cohesive story.
I wish we saw more of the connection between Mel and Chloe. I didn't really feel the love between them until the very end. I also wanted to see more of Mel's relationship with her brother, Ted (I also couldn't get a sense of how old Ted was. I don't think we're ever told this. I think he's older because he's homeless when she's 16, but she was very much the caregiver in their relationship. How much older though?). Overall I didn't feel like Tess developed the relationships between the characters as much as she has in her other books. I really loved Gigi and Whitney (Mel and Chloe's best friends).
I didn't care for the chapters from Rick's POV. I don't think they added a whole lot or told us anything we didn't already know. It did show us what a dumbass he is though, LOL.
So, I liked this book and I recommend it, but I don't consider it one of Tess Sharpe's best.

This was one engrossing tale. You know at the start there's a murder and who did it so you'd think it couldn't be a gripping story. You'd be wrong. It jumps backwards and forwards in time for a Good bit of the story but it's not confusing. It's letting the reader know the reasons behind what's happened. I got this book thinking it would be an OK read but I thoroughly recommend it. Although you know the gist of what happened you're wondering why it happened, what led up to it and what's happening now and why. Oh yes, well worth reading.

Overall, an okay read. No Body, No Crime jumps right into the action with a plane crash and at that point, you feel like you’re about to be on a riveting rollercoaster ride that features action, unexpectedness, and drama. However, as the story built, it started to lose its power and felt muddled in parts, and overall felt very lackluster by the end of it.

Whoa. I couldn't put this book down! This is my first time reading a novel by Tess Sharpe and was quite pleased at how quickly I was hooked. Loved the witty banter between all the characters, especially between Chloe, Mel, and the twins. I think it was a good way to show that they all had history together. It did take me a good minute to understand the multiple storylines, though. I caught myself needing to go back because the characters just seemed to appear out of nowhere. I found myself needing to pause several times to get my bearings straight. "Wait, who's Ted." "Gigi? Whitney? And how's Tiffany involved in all this?" I did want a little more backstory on Chloe and Mel's relationship as teenagers. There were moments I I wasn't quite convinced for their love for each other because I didn't have any history to go off of. BUT, all in all, I enjoyed this book and excited to dig in to other novels from Tess Sharpe.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Tess Sharpe is one of my favorite YA authors, The Girls I've Been, 6 Times We Almost Kissed, etc.
First, let's start with the cover. I don't judge books by their covers, but I love the vintage, old-school look of this cover. I am getting tired of the newer, more typical mystery / thriller covers.
This book is a 4.5 for me. I loved Chloe and Mel. The back and forth made the pacing A+ for me. I don't want to give too much away, but the two girls as teens had revenge in mind as well as self-defense. 2 years after Chloe's sweet 16, she runs off. Chloe is the daughter of ranchers, well off, and the princess. Melanie grew up in a trailer w an abusive dad and no mom. Her growing up made her more resilient. Mel is strong, physically, and becomes a PI.
Mel is hired by Chloe's family to track her down because her dad's dying of cancer. Only Chloe is on the run because dangerous men are after her. She has eluded the "bag of dicks" many times- The Newell family are local politicians and dangerous in different ways. I didn't enjoy the Rick/Junior/Richard chapters. That's probably why I can't quite get to 5 stars.
There's a wonderful sapphic romance between Mel and Chloe, timely for Pride Month, but their actions at 16 make them stay secret. There's the twins, Whitney and Gigi, whom I adored. I absolutely loved this book for many reasons. so almost a 5 star. releases July 15, 2025. I highly recommend getting this book. 4.5/5☆

3.5 stars
Thanks to MCD Books and Netgalley for providing me with an e-ARC. All thoughts are my own.
This one was engaging from the start. A murder, a plane crash, missing diamonds, missing persons? Absolutely enthralling.
Both Mel and Chloe were great main characters. They were both really interesting. Both so tough because life had forced them to be, yet both so soft and broken too. I honestly would love more PI stuff with Mel because that had me so intrigued by her.
I loved Gigi and Whitney, too. They were absolutely brilliant and the mystery around Whitney was an extra layer that really drew me in.
I didn’t really buy the romantic relationship for most of the book, though. We’re TOLD they love each other, but until the end, I didn’t really FEEL it. But the ending they got was utterly lovely and put me in my feels a bit.
I felt like the Rick chapters were a waste of time. They provided nothing except some backstory with the peacock feud which, while terribly amusing, could have probably been covered in a better way.
All in all, a captivating feminist thriller.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it had that element that I was looking for from previous books from Tess Sharpe. The concept was everything that I was looking for and enjoyed getting into the world in this. It was action packed and enjoyed the overall feel of this book. The romance concept worked well and was invested in what was going on. Tess Sharpe wrote this perfectly and I was glad I was able to read this.

This was such fun to read! Just like an action flick, which isn't my usual read, but exactly what I needed as a break right now.
So many badass women, a compelling plot, excellent writing, and a dash of romance. A lesbian twist on classic action/thriller novel. I couldn't really ask for more.
Thank-you NetGalley and MCD for allowing me to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

As a huge fan of "6 Times We Almost Kissed" I went into "No Body No Crime" with really high expectations -- Unfortunately, I don't feel like this one totally delivered. I think my biggest issue here is the tonal whiplash, it felt like this book couldn't decide if it wanted to be a true thriller or a satire of one, a la Drive Away Dolls. The reasoning behind Chloe's disappearance lacked propulsion and the bumbling villains never successfully instilled any kind of fear in me as a reader. I was rooting for Mel and Chloe, and loved their relationship, but I wish the life-or-death stakes they were up against had felt more believable.
