Felt like I was reading a scaled-down version of “Yellowjackets” without the cult and gore. "No Body No Crime" kept my heart racing throughout its pages, and the twists and turns were really satisfying. This is my first Tess Sharpe read and looking forward to the next!

Thank you to NetGalley, MCD, and Tess Sharpe for this ARC in exchange of an honest review.

This is my second time reading Tess Sharpe and unfortunately it's not go as well as first . I absolutely loved Six Times We Almost Kissed but No Body No Crime painful for me to get through. I don't mind The occasional flashback that leads up to a pivotal moment but this book jumps all around the timeline and I hate that . At first I was very much invested in the plot and then it kind of went over the top in unnecessary ways and lost me . I didn't hate the characters though but I had trouble connecting with them with all the other stuff in the book that I disliked. Overall this one just really didn't work for me and so many ways.

“No Body, No Crime” by Tess Sharpe is gripping, twist-filled thriller that had me by the throat from the very first page. The non-linear timeline adds to the tension, making it extra satisfying to piece together the mystery as the story unfolds.

The secret relationship and second-chance romance between the queer FMCs is steamy and fierce. Eccentric villains, a whip-smart cast of side characters, and tons of twists that will take you by surprise - this one’s got it all!

4 ⭐️ highly recommended as a summer thriller!

Unfortunately, I'm DNFing this at around the 50% mark.

The pacing of this just isn't working for me. Every time I start to get invested in the story, we either switch timelines or POVs, and all momentum is lost again. I like Chloe, Tess, and Gigi, but I'm not invested in any part of the story, and I'm not enjoying my time with it.

No body, No Crime is a story about survival, protecting your loved ones, and dismantling a bag of Dicks.
I appreciated the fact that Mel and Chole have two distinct personalities that complement each other. Chloe is like a deer. All she knows is to run to survive. Mel is more observant in a cold way. She is also determined and fierce.

It took me a bit to get my mind around the multiple-timelines aspect of the book, but it got easier as they converged to make the whole story clearer. Unfortunately, as a fan of mystery and anything involving solving a case, it felt a bit flat in my opinion. It wasn’t as thrilling as I expected. Maybe it was because everything went a little bit too well. However, I have to say that I didn’t see the plot twist coming and was pleasantly surprised.

Regardless, No Body No Crime was enjoyable and its ending left space for a sequel.

I'm thankful to have received this ARC via NetGalley.

I would give this book 6 stars if I could. I know that it might seem wild, but I love it. I really do.

This is a story of two girls who are having a somewhat similia journey with their sexuality, but every other part of their lives is wildly different. Until they're paths tangle together because of one shitty boy. Both are angry with him for different reasons, but both are due to his negligent violence and because of their confrontation, he ends up dead. Which brings both Chloe and Mel together in a romance that defies their rules to act like they barely know each other. It's good for both of them, but of course the dead boy finds a way to fuck them over yet again and Chloe goes on the run to protect the people she loves.

Learning what happen as Chloe and Mel reconnect (read as: Mel tracks her down on behalf of Chloe's dying father) really drives home what both have been going through for me. It's not something I usually like, but Tess makes it work for this story. You get to see the feels that were and how they're still there, despite all the things they've gone through during their years apart. We see the way grief has effected almost everyone a part of this group of loved ones. How they all perceived in spite of circumstances. Plus, how a teenage boy who thinks he's hot shit can really fuck everything up for people, even from beyond the grave.

The short time period the present day of the story feels parallel to what brought both girls together in the first place. Full circle almost. And though I would love more of the story that goes into their future, I really liked how things wrapped up. How they finally were able to free themselves of their secrets and embrace a part of themselves that they thought needed to be hidden.

Also, there's a twist that I love, because as the story went on I wasn't sure if what I hoped for would happen.

The real crime here is my rating, I know. But I just didn't have a good time with this one. And part of that has to do with an observation I made about Sharpe's last release THE GIRL IN QUESTION, which is : things are just.. kind of overtop? This almost could've been easier to swallow considering it isn't YA but as a result of the dual timeline/flashbacks it also kind of toes the line on that.

More than anything, though? What started to kill this for me early on -- despite a very well-hooked first chapter, maybe even two? -- was the fact that we were dropping full on monologues, rife with commentary on things you wouldn't just drop on another person you haven't seen in years, whilst running for your life. But also, every time we had one, that one line from <i>Pitch Perfect 3</i> would run through my head :

"<i>That was a lot of exposition</i>."

I was so down for this sapphic romance featuring competent women and thrills and chases and mysteries and while all of that is an accurate description, complete with some twists, it just didn't feel well executed. I didn't feel like I got to know the characters enough to care about the romance or the stakes. And even having made it to the end of it all, I still feel like we were thrown into this whole debacle out of left field. And while the concept into blundering into something serious by accident, complete with repercussions that follow, isn't new, it can still feel.. I don't know, solid? This didn't.

The good, though? This is definitely a girl power kind of story. It's the women who are strong, skilled, devious, intelligent, and capable, not the men. And one male character in particular was constantly bemoaning this fact, which was pretty funny.

Having said all that, this experience certainly won't stop me from picking up releases by this author in the future as this is the first dud in a string of wins -- but, as we all know, you can't win them all. And I think if any of this sounds like a good time to you, I would still recommend picking it up.

Messy murder? Check. Twisted small-town secrets? Double check. Teenage girls who bury a body and then grow up to become an off-grid survivalist and a jaded PI? Say less.

No Body No Crime is a sharp, suspense-packed ride where loyalty cuts deeper than any weapon and the past refuses to stay buried. Mel and Chloe made a choice in those woods, and now the consequences are clawing their way out—and bringing a whole lot of trouble with them.

Thank you Tess Sharpe, Farrar Straus and Giroux, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

"She made you feel seen in a way that cut you if you got too close. And Mel got too close, over and over. Cut herself to ribbons on Chloe’s sweet sharpness and asked for more. Begged for it. Loved her for it."
Mel and Chloe are for sure my favorite bi FMC's I have ever read about. Tess Sharp really knows how to write very complex and strong woman who take no shit and have a side affinity of killing men who push them too far.
First off Mel Tillman: Super PI, super smart thanks to having grown up being abused by her father shaped her into the woman she is now, which has great representation of what trauma like that does to a person when they are sixteen.

"You grow up with someone who hits you, you get really good at knowing when they’re watching you, ready to explode. It’s a sixth sense violence gives you."

Chloe Waters: Bow handler extraordinaire, and baddest wild survivor. Grew up with money and strength due to a ranch upbringing and yet still very capable of killing a man.

The Bag of Dicks: Big Daddy the main big bad(that's not all he is tehe),Richard the assemblyman(his wife is better than him), Rick the poor black sheep of the family(he's obsessed with peacocks and has a meathead minion), and Junior the assembly mans son who is set to move on up to congress(he's pretty but stupid)

Two sixteen year old girls end up tangled up in such a bigger mess than they originally thought when they killed Toby Dunne but its ok after 5/6 years of running and hiding ends when Mel is sent to find Chloe and it all spirals out of control from there. There are some crazy twists and turns in here that I could barely keep it together. This was so well thought out and even though the ending kind of got wrapped up in a neat little bow I still really am glad they got a happy ending.

The chemistry between the Mel and Chloe was so palpable it made me warm inside knowing two people like that(hardened by life and circumstance) can truly look out for each other and find one another later down the line and still be madly in love just like they were in high-school. The writing, the atmosphere, the sassy comebacks, the badass woman, this book was made for me. Thank you so much Netgalley for letting me read the e-Arc copy of this one, I urge everyone to buy this when it comes out.

I loved Far From You and The Girls I've Been but really struggled to connect with this.

It's a sharp-edged, flinty book that (to me) was dialogue-heavy. The narrative is also fairly complicated in structure. The book starts with a dramatic plane crash and then has both a backwards narrative AND flashbacks.

Despite the title, there are a LOT of bodies involved. I was invested in the romance but there was just so much else going on and so much shifting in time and space that I could never really settle into the story. The emotional component was missing here for me.

Tess Sharpe’s No Body No Crime is a compelling, edge-of-your-seat mystery that hooks you from the first page. The story centers on a young woman, Melanie, determined to uncover the truth behind her friend’s suspicious disappearance—despite the odds stacked against her and the secrets lurking beneath the surface.

Sharpe’s writing is sharp and evocative, capturing the emotional turmoil of grief and betrayal while delivering a tightly woven plot full of twists and turns. The characters feel authentic, flawed, and fiercely loyal, which makes the stakes feel real and personal. The author does an excellent job exploring the depth of relationships, particularly queen relationships.

At the beginning, I found it difficult to keep track of the secondary characters and their roles as the story unfolded. This became more clear as the story progressed, lending to support the twists. The twists were not overly surprising and a bit untied at the end, but it all ended in a manner that was very satisfying.

I found this book an enjoyable read. I loved all the characters, even though there were a lot and at times hard to keep up with. The story was good, but it felt a little jumbled with so many POV and time jumps. I liked the ending and how all the characters came together. I would recommend it for Its Bisexual representation and as a good cat and mouse thriller.

I was kindly provided with the arc of this book by NetGalley and Farrar, Straus and Giroux in exchange wan honest review, thank you ✨

4.5⭐️

This was my first sapphic book and I LOVED every minute I was reading it😮‍💨 I love Chloe, my girl was so resilient, she was just a kid when everything happened and she only wanted to protect her family and Mel, all the things she had to endure and do to finally be able to get back to those she love
And Mel, my other girly, she’s tough and so brave and smart, she never could left Chloe behind even if she wanted to, the moment she new about her it was like time never passed by and she was there for Chloe, I loved reading their story and I loved all the side characters here, Gigi, Whitney, Nat and even Rick (he was sunny sorry not sorry) oh and also Doris IYKYK 😂

This was one of the best books I’ve read this year and I’ll be looking into more books of the author ✨

After going through a traumatic experience involving a murder, Chloe and Mel are irreversibly bonded. They develop a strong, loving relationship, but two years later, Chloe disappears. The novel is split into different timelines, following the aftermath of that first event and the beginnings of their relationship, the aftermath of Chloe's disappearance, and what happens when they find each other again. There's ongoing mystery within each level that all ties together, complete with one of Sharpe's irresistible final-act twists. The romance isn't a slow burn—they trauma bond fairly instantly—but the reconnection takes time and is carefully, thoughtfully developed.

The various, constantly changing timelines are well stamped, allowing the reader to follow the multiple storylines without getting lost. Likewise, each POV is marked at the beginning of each chapter, so you know not only where and when you are, but who you're with. The predominantly-female cast is strong and the different dynamics are great. Numerous side characters, including the villains, feel solid and three-dimensional, with a couple given their own POVs. The novel is gripping, with good drama and interesting twists and revelations, as well as a satisfying resolution.

If I had any criticism, it's that I would've liked Chloe and Mel to have more individual character development. They're fairly consistent throughout. They learn things (like Chloe's survival skills) and hold onto their experiences, but they end up feeling pretty much like the same people they are at the beginning. I think a lot of this comes from the interwoven timelines—rather than a steady development throughout, going back and forth makes it harder to clock a developing change in character. Given the traumatic nature of their experiences, I would've liked to know more about how it affected them, but their consistency doesn't feel like a bad thing by any means either.

I'd recommend to anyone looking for badass female characters, an unbreakable wlw relationship, or a generally action-packed, mystery-filled read.

I had a lot of fun with this, I thought it read a lot like an action-packed film to me. I enjoyed that it had two bisexual women protagonists and we got to have a POV from the villain as well. At times, it was silly, but it was always enjoyable.

It did read a lot like a YA novel to me, though. There were POVs from when the women were girls and we were thrown back to where it all started, but even the adult voices didn’t feel that different, they were just dealing with bigger things.

Mostly, I had a good time. This is only my second Tess Sharpe book and I can see myself reading more from her in future.

Great pacing, great use of the different POVs and their shifts, great (albeit often unbelievable) plot. The focus seemed to be more on the plot than the character development, which left some questions throughout, but overall I really enjoyed this campy thriller and would be interested in reading more of Tess Sharpe's novels.

This was a quick, enjoyable adventure to read. The main characters are interesting and the plot is fun. The non-linear structure wasn't difficult to follow, which I was initially worried about given the two central events.

This was my first time reading a book by this author, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect — but I was pleasantly surprised! From the very beginning, the story pulled me in and kept me engaged all the way through to the end.

The book is packed with diverse, well-developed characters and full of surprising twists. It’s told in dual timelines and multiple perspectives. There’s plenty of action throughout, making it a fast-paced and exciting read. I found myself hurrying through the pages because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

I especially loved the protagonists — I think they were so well suited for each other. Their dynamic added depth and emotion to the story, and made the stakes feel even more real. I also enjoyed the secondary characters-the twins and a family of Dicks, and they were so aptly named. These characters added comic relief when needed.

The ending was absolutely perfect — satisfying, surprising, and wrapped up just right. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read, and I’ll definitely be picking up more from this author!

While the concept is amazing, the book was all over the place with a dual timeline and a lot of characters to keep track of. The story jumped right in to the action and I was confused from the very beginning. I found that as I read on and was moved between timelines that I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters. I am sure this would be a fun read for many people but I couldn’t get invested in the characters or the plot.
