The Other Sister by Jessica R. Patch is a phychological thriller full of twists. There are a lot of characters within this story, and you can’t trust most of them. They have something they’re hiding or ulterior motives. Even the main character... You find out some surprising stuff as the story progresses. The only thing I really expected was the epilogue. I just knew it from the start. It ends in a way that leaves room for a sequel. I’m not sure there’d be enough for a sequel though, and I’m happy with how it ends. I kind of hope it’s left as a stand alone with its little bit of mystery left to keep you wondering.

a thriller full of twisted secrets!
it's only after her biological mother dies that charlotte discovers her identical twin sister. she arranges to meet acelynn benedict—but acelynn's weekend trip to chicago goes very wrong, and the easiest way for charlotte to stay safe is to assume acelynn's identity. of course, acelynn's picture-perfect life is not exactly what it seems...
the other sister is a dark and twisted thriller, brimming with secrets and secret identities—along with some grittier topics, like abuse, addiction, manipulation, and overall toxic familial relationships. jessica r. patch is a master of suspense, and these elements never felt, for me, too graphic, over the line, or out of place. page after page, it all weaves into charlotte's story in anxiety-inducing ways, dangerous turn after surprising reveal. and underlying everything that happens is this question of whether the past will continue to haunt charlotte—and what will the consequences be of this new lie she's been living. more than once, i wondered exactly where the story was going, and i enjoyed being along for the roller-coaster ride.
if you love suspense and thrillers, definitely check out the other sister. it's a fast-paced and exciting read.
considerations:
—language: none
—spice: kisses only, mentions of one-night stands and infidelity
—faith: mentions of church and bible verses
—content: violence, murder, manipulation, toxic family relationships, mentions of gambling, drugs, foster care, animal abuse, suicidal thoughts, and prison

This book was very interesting.I love how the tristan turns were in this book. It starts out with charlotte who thought she was an only child and her mother was a drug addict. She had a very.
Hard upbringing because she was put in the foster system. But she had a really good friend, she would hang out with. When her mother died, she found out she had another sister living in Savannah who was her twin Named a c e l y n o. She was living paycheck to paycheck. She had a good friend named tommy who was dating her best friend. He had gambling problem. So she contacted this other woman in Savannah. This one's. Story got really good. Charlotte.
Wanted this lifestyle because it seemed glamorous and fun. So the sister flew to chicago and things were going really well. Then Tommy was murdered and she. Witness this. Her sister said.
Come to savannah so you won't be killed. Her friend did not know her boyfriend Was MURD.E!R.E!D. So they planned to go to Savannah, but her sister was killed instead. Charlotte took on the density of her dead sister and this became really intriguing. Things were not normal when she got there on the plot thickens. Her best friend also showed up. This was a real who done it. There's so many twist concerns at the end of this book. You'll be shocked to find out what really? What is going on?

Charlotte Kane's lot in life is not an easy one. Her life is an exercise in financial hardships and she struggles a lot.
Opportunity knocks when her estranged mother dies and she learns about her twin sister, who seemingly has everything that Charlotte does not. Could she become Acelynn and have a better life? Charlotte's acquaintances and life circumstances disappointed her openly..Acelynn's were more deceitful. Can she make it in her unknown twin's world?
Sometimes, the grass isn't greener on the other side.
Will this move work in Charlotte's favor, or does all the lying and misrepresentation present its own warning?
The perfect family is perfectly capable of anything, as long as it benefits whoever is talking at the time.
This psychological thriller sent my head to spinning, but I liked the creativity. Just as the picture was becoming clearer, the story veered away from what I expected.
This was quite the adventure and worth reading.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC copy of the book. All opinions are my own.

Wow! I certainly did not see that plot twist coming! I love books that keep me wondering what is going on behind the scenes, and The Other Sister did just that. Secret diaries, secret lives, and just plain old secrets kept my interest high. I found this psychological thriller to be hard to put down. It is full of intrigue with numerous twists and turns. Readers who enjoy characters who are a "hot mess" and intense, suspenseful storylines will not want to miss The Other Sister by Jessica R. Patch. I read a complimentary copy of the book through NetGalley and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book hooked me right away with its intriguing premise: secret twins, identity swaps, and buried family secrets. The setup had all the elements of a twisty psychological thriller, and the tension builds quickly as Charlotte steps into her sister’s seemingly perfect life.
While the plot kept me turning pages, I found myself wanting more depth from the characters. Charlotte’s motivations were clear, but some of her decisions felt rushed or inconsistent. The supporting cast, especially Acelynn’s inner circle, could have been more fully developed to heighten the suspense and emotional impact. A few of the twists were predictable, but there were still some satisfying reveals along the way.
Overall, this was a fast-paced, entertaining read with a compelling concept, even if the execution didn’t quite live up to its full potential. A good pick for fans of domestic thrillers who enjoy stories about identity, secrets, and sisterhood.

“I received this book as an e-arc but unfortunately it was not for me. I was intrigued by the plot but a lot of the story just seemed confusing and somewhat far fetched. I did not connect well with the authors writing style. I felt that plot wise there were too many of the cliche thriller tropes in one story (secret twin, mob bosses, murders, traumatic childhood etc). Also the hopping back into the past was confusing for me. For now I have dnf'd because I am not invested into the characters but will maybe give it another try in the future.”

I'll read anything Jessica Patch writes...even though my heart races through them all. Great twists and turns!

*** sigh ***
Yet again Patch has captured my attention from page one and did not let go. I couldn't tear myself away. And then there's a death pretty early on, I was completely floored. But it all leads to the ultimate storyline!
Now let's talk about Petal for a moment. I thought I had it all figured out. Then I got a ways further and thought something else. Then further, and changed my mind again. And then the end - BAM. Did not see that coming at all! I tried retracing the story in my mind for little clues, and oh they were there but oh so subtle. This is why Patch is a genius!
For those who don't like darker themed books, it's probably not for you and that's ok. But for those who don't mind it, I think your mind will be blown. I know mine was. Get ready for tons of twists and turns in Patch's latest psychological thriller! You won't be disappointed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve been a fan of Jessica R. Patch ever since A Cry in the Dark pulled me in. She has a unique way of blending psychological thrillers with Christian themes, and The Other Sister is another solid example of that rare balance done well.
This book is a dark story of deception, betrayal, and hidden truths, with subtle elements of redemption and hope. Charlotte Kane comes from a rough background. She’s spent most of her life feeling unseen, unloved, and unwanted. Her half-sister, Acelynn Benedict, on the other hand, has always had everything, wealth, love, and a life seemingly untouched by tragedy. But secrets run deep in this family, and when their worlds collide again, everything begins to unravel. Things are not always as they appear.
This was a total binge read. I flew through it in just a couple sittings because I had to know what was going to happen next. There are some serious twists along the way that kept me guessing until the very end. The pacing is quick, the suspense is real, and just when I thought I had it figured out, the story pivoted.
The book alternates between Charlotte and Acelynn’s POVs and switches timelines between past and present, which gives the story so much depth. Watching their lives unfold side by side builds tension and gives insight into how each woman became who she is. The characters are fully fleshed out, flawed but real, and the way their stories intertwine is both tragic and compelling. There are some dark and heavy themes in this book, so I would recommend checking trigger warnings before diving in, especially if you’re sensitive to content around abuse or trauma.
That said, it’s also a story about forgiveness, second chances, and the hope that healing is possible. If you’re a fan of fast-paced thrillers with emotional weight and redemptive arcs, this one is definitely worth adding to your TBR. Another hit for Jessica R. Patch and 4 stars from me.

Beware. If you don't like dark, heavy books, then this book is not for you. I have never been a fan but decided to give this one a try. Maybe because I'm not used to reading them, but I had a really hard time with this book. It is a story of a very dark humanity, yet ends up showing the light of Jesus. Multiple times I felt like I should have just put the book down, but chose to try to hang in there. Not upset I did. But again, I am not a reader of dark reading. However, I have heard from plenty of readers that truly enjoyed this book and this author. I can only speak of my own thoughts.

I’m genuinely bummed this one didn’t work for me. I’ve been deep in a psychological thriller era, and this had all the elements I usually go for. But I just couldn’t connect with it.
Charlotte, the main character, never quite came into focus. I kept waiting to care about her past, her choices, her motivations... but it didn’t happen. I couldn’t get a grip on who she really was, and because of that, I found myself disengaged early on.
I gave it a fair shot, but after several chapters I realized I wasn’t invested—and with so many thrillers out there competing for attention, this one just didn’t hold mine.

Bravo! This psychological thriller was full of twists and turns. Just when I had recovered from one and started to figure out the ending, another twist would be masterfully thrown into a muddle of loose threads.
Jessica Patsch is a master storyteller, one who keeps her readers on their toes. She masterfully weaves loose threads into a stunning masterpiece. But when one looks at the back, it is a muddle of loose threads. This is how I was, trying to pick up the pieces and figure out the ending, right before another twist was artfully exposed. But trust me, the final piece is masterfully crafted into a brilliant story.
The Other Sister is a dark read like most psychological thrillers, with characters that have chosen a dark path. But there is a sliver of light that leans towards hope that one can change, one can sacrifice for what is right.
Content warning- while this is a clean read, some of the crimes committed are rather dark and sinister. There is mention of extramarital affairs, but no bedroom scenes.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I read this book because I saw a post about it from one of my book besties. What a ride it turned out to be! I was hooked from the very beginning! The idea of discovering you have a long-lost twin—and then stepping into her life—is already wild, but The Other Sister takes it to a whole new level. It’s twisty, suspenseful, and totally addictive.
Charlotte Kane, our main character, is struggling to make ends meet and just wants something more out of life. When her estranged mother dies, she discovers she has an identical twin who was adopted by a wealthy family—her whole world flips. At first, it’s kind of a dream come true. Acelynn, her twin, seems to have everything Charlotte’s ever wanted: a loving family, a successful career, and a picture-perfect life in Savannah. But of course, nothing is as perfect as it seems.
Without giving too much away, Charlotte ends up having to impersonate her sister in a really desperate moment, and that’s when the real suspense takes off. She’s quickly caught in a web of secrets, and no one in Acelynn’s world is quite who they seem. What’s great is that we're discovering everything right along with Charlotte.
The story shifts between past and present, slowly revealing pieces that eventually come together in a satisfying and shocking way. Most of it is told from Charlotte’s point of view, which makes it hard to tell what’s real and what’s not—especially since even she isn’t always sure who she can trust. This book kept me guessing the whole time and the ending blew my mind!! If you enjoy psychological thrillers, The Other Sister will keep you guessing until the very end.
The audiobook was well done. I thought the narrator did a great job bringing the story to life and gave each character a distinct voice.
I received a digital copy from the publisher Harlequin - Romance via NetGalley. All opinions in this review are my own.

Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!
Protagonist Charlotte Kane has a lot to unpack in this breakneck speed psychological suspense thriller masterpiece. Author Jessica Patch has a way of hitting the throttle and whipping the reader around hairpin curves, twists and turns, without ever loving mercy. And I relished every single second of it.
Addictive with tight prose, fast-paced, unpredictable without losing plausibility, immaculate dialogue and characterization, an incredible plot, masterfully layered POVs which kept the ground shifting beneath this reader’s feet—this one had me guessing over and over again.
A psychologically riveting solid 5/5 star read for me.

The Other Sister is a twisted tale of deception, betrayal, redemption and hope. Charlotte Kane never had much growing up. Acelynn Benedict grew up with everything she could ever want. Hold on for the roller coaster of emotions that are packed into this book, and the unexpected twists that will toss your ideas about what’s happening out the window. Even in the darkest corners of this story, light is shone in a subtle but meaningful way.
I received an ARC from NetGalley of The Other Sister. The opinions are mine.

WOW!!!! This book blew me away! It is definitely going to be a reread. The story is very dark at times, but there are glimmers of God working in the midst of terrible situations. The characters are very well written & I felt like I was in the story with them. In typical Jessica Patch fashion, the twists & turns kept me turning pages to see what would happen next. I’d love a sequel sometime yo check in on these characters again someday.

Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Romance for the chance to read this book.
Very fast paced, hooked me pretty good from the beginning, a lot of characters to keep up with and a lot of twist and turns but in the end it all comes together quite nicely. Was very enjoyable I will have to check out this author in the future!

"Somewhere out there is my sister. No, not somewhere out there. This isn’t An American Tail—a movie I was forced to repeatedly watch in my third foster home. I was eight. No, seven. But it feels like it a little, I guess. Like I’ve been separated from my family, and I’m alone in that glass bottle drifting across the sea of life, trying to find her."
Charlotte Kane has a troubled past. Her upbringing was challenging. When she finds out (early on in the book) that she has a sister, she has high hopes that her life is going to turn around. Little does she know that her real troubles are beginning.
Trying to review this book is challenging because spoilers abound. The plot is tight and well-constructed. So many original subplots are part of the story as well.
The ending shocked me. Although I could anticipate certain parts, other aspects surprised me. The author definitely knows how to write a thriller.
This is one of the most intense books that I have ever read. Jessica Patch is such a brilliant writer. But I will say that this book is not for everyone. Although I wouldn't say the plot goes out of bounds, some of the storyline is quite gritty. Especially for a book with faith elements. So sensitive readers may not be able to handle this book.
I read a copy of this book through NetGalley. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.

This book grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let go. The plot moves fast & twist after twist kept me guessing. I was completely hooked by the unraveling secrets and the tension that built with every chapter. The reveals were perfectly timed. The epilogue really ended the book with a bang that I love in books! This is definitely an easy 1-sitting read. I’ll be picking up this author’s backlog!
Thank you NetGalley & Harlequin Publishjng for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
