Another twisty thrill ride from Jessica Patch! This story hit the ground running and never let up! This one is a full-on Psychological thriller, and I would classify it as "Christian-light", but completely clean. There is a subtle faith thread hovering under the surface that comes to light at the end, but by and large, this one has a lighter faith thread than I'm used to with this author. It worked well for the story though. When Charlotte Kane learns she has a twin sister she was separated at birth from, she understandably wants to get to know her twin and seeks her out. When she has an opportunity to step into her sister's life, she learns that not all that glitters is gold. This story has a bit of a time shift as well, as a few chapters (headed simply as "Then") are journal entries from the past. Having both voices in first person threw me a bit at first, but once you are aware that the past are journal entries, it flows easier. While I thought I was smart enough to stay on top of what was happening, and the author kept proving me right in my assumptions, I got thrown for a couple of major curveballs at the end that I did not see coming. And the epilogue at the tail end, threw me even further as I still have questions. All in all, this was a thoroughly enjoyable ride and I can easily recommend this one to fans of suspense and psychological thrillers. Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

The Other Sister is a twisting, turning thriller about an evil twin and an almost good twin. The girls didn't grow up together, in fact, the better twin, Charlotte, did not even know she had a twin until her mother died and the evidence was in her personal effects. Charlotte contacts Acelynn, her sister, and they decide to switch places. Charlotte finds herself stuck in her sister's life and realizes that her sister is more than horrible. The rest of the story is how Charlotte survives and ultimately seems to triumph over the evil depredation of her sister's life.

This book is perfect for a weekend read for anyone who likes to read with all of the lights in the house on.

I received a free advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.

I would say this is my favorite but each of her books are my favorite.

The Other Sister by Jessica Patch

Charlotte Kane grew up with her mother for part of her childhood then went into the foster care system when her mother lost custody due to mental illness and drug and alcohol abuse, self medicating. She never gave up on her dream, desire to have her own family and she accomplished that through her best friends Tillie and Tommy.
When her former case worker showed up to check in with her, even though she had aged out of the system, she was glad to see her,  it had been awhile.  She told her that her mother had just been found that morning, she had overdosed.  Glenda told her she should go over and pick up a box that her mother had in a closet, she said she would think about it.
Later in the day she went over and retrieved the box. While she was still at her mothers place she started to look through the box and found a letter from a woman thanking her for letting her adopt her baby. " I have a sister."

Thank you, Jessica Patch, for allowing me to be on your launch team. I loved this story.

True to her writing style, Jessica Patch delivers a fast paced, twisted story that is FULL of suspense and keeps you guessing right until the very last page! It is an absolute page turner, and is not one that you’ll have figured out before it’s over!

Many of Jessica Patch’s books have a clear element of faith, and while this one is also marketed as Christian fiction, it reads much more like a mainstream thriller. There is a very faint underlying hint of redemption that could be identified as the faith aspect, but it could easily go unrecognized. The story also goes to darker depths that will likely be off-putting to someone who is expecting a cleaner Christian read. If you aren’t bothered by that, you will enjoy this one because it was an excellent book and very well written!

Jessica R Patch does it again. Such a great story of trauma, redemption and resilience with so many twists and turns. Just when you think you have the story all figured out you realize you know nothing. The story keeps you guessing and wondering until the last page. Read it you won’t be disappointed!

“I learned very early in life to never burn a bridge, even if someone else lights the match….”

Very wise advice from the heroine of Jessica R. Patch’s psychological thriller, The Other Sister. I applaud the author on delving into the mind of someone who was in the foster care system and struggles with wounds of abandonment. As an ex-Extended Foster Care social worker, I know there are some youth who carry a heart of bitterness. And foster youth or not, who wouldn’t want a carve out a better life for themselves? But poor Charlotte. Circumstances had her in a real pickle.

I wish there was a little more faith development after Charlotte met Christian. She’s angry at God, which is a real issue and if done right, makes the story stick with me. Not saying that this one won’t. There are a lot of twists and turns in this unpredictable story.

This story will be great for those who love psychological thrillers, mind games, whodunits, serial killers, secrets, drama, women’s fiction, domestic thrillers, dark, twisted, family sagas, chilling beach reads, elements of horror, and maybe even split time novels.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All words are my own.

Loved reading the riveting and engaging story. When Charlotte finds out she has a twin sister, Acelynn, Charlotte wants to meet her, Acelynn comes to visit, and when Charlotte goes to save her friend, Tommy, Tommy is murdered, Charlotte runs, Acelynn is accidentally killed, Charlotte becomes Acelynn, someone tries to kill Charlotte, and there is a Cupid serial killer on the loose. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read story full of mystery and suspense.

“She’s tried to kill me before.”

“Truth hidden in darkness always comes to light, and secrets with it. Sins always find you out.”

“I’m your other sister.”

Another enjoyable novel by Jessica R. Patch. This one was a psychological thriller that includes faith elements as well. I enjoyed the characters and settings and I thought Jessica created a nice, twisty plot. The twists were well executed and though I had some inklings about one or two things, there was a lot of twists that were hard to predict. I did think there were parts that dragged even though the beginning and the ending was fast paced and excellent.

Wow, this was a wild read, one that had me reading longer than I intended. The serpentine prose weaves in and out, making you wonder what's real and what's not. Jessica does a masterful job with character development and she packs a wallop with the secrets spilling out on the page. Plus she does a superb job handling of some pretty heavy topics and scenes with authenticity and taste. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys a suspenseful mystery wrapped up with a dose of southern comfort.

Wow. What a rush!

I’ll be transparent: I struggled with the book at first. This is probably the darkest a Patch novel has ever gone. And a few of the scenes early on gave me the willies.

But I’ve been reading books by Jessica R. Patch for close to a decade, and I know I can trust her. I know that the darker the tale, the brighter the light of hope and faith will shine.

Some readers don’t care for psychological dramas. And that’s okay. Every book is not for every person. But if you love thrillers and need the adrenaline rush without the ‘ick’, you have found a fabulous book here!

Charlotte felt like an unreliable narrator. Turns out she didn’t have all of the facts. There’s a thread that runs through the book that continually feels loose. But when that puppy connects and ties everything up—wow!

Oh, and it was nice to see Asa Kodiak very, very briefly (IYKYK).

So many twists and turns left me dizzy but longing to know what came next. And by the end I couldn’t read fast enough. Now I’m going to read it again because, now that I know everything, I can read without the knots in my stomach and the white knuckled grip on my Kindle!

I received an advance copy from the publisher. My review has not been solicited and can be trusted.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
INSANE! Oh my gosh Jessica R. Patch what have you done to my brain🫣 this novel was packed with so many twists and turns that each time you think you solved a mystery 2 more popped up. It had me on the edge of my seat freaking out, so many lines gave me goosebumps because I was that shocked by the plot twists. A powerful lesson for sure reminds me how it says in the Bible Matthew 7:15.( "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves".) There is deception, betrayal, manipulation, and dark secrets in this book, this needs to be a read for people who like psychological thrillers I was hooked I couldn’t put it down! As always thank you to Netgalley and Harlequin Love for an ARC of this book. Stay blessed everyone 😊🙏

Oh my goodness! This book! I have read many of Patch’s books and have loved them all. But this was a step behind the ready in creepy level and suspense. It was so thrilling I was worried I’d have nightmares. I didn’t, thankfully. But that’s how real the story felt.
The way we see into Charlotte’s inner thoughts and motivations really gives the reader insight that we don’t often have. I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know what would happen next.
Highly recommend!

I had enjoyed other thrillers from Jessica R. Patch and this book was no different. It worked in this genre perfectly and enjoyed the twists of this storyline, the characters were everything that I was expecting and was glad everything flowed to tell the story.

Wow! What a ride! So many twists and turns in this book!
In full disclosure it took me a couple chapters to get into this book but once I did I was hooked. The author writes about some very deep and somewhat dark topics but does it well.
What would it be like to be in someone else’s shoes. Is their life better than yours? What if those shoes have more problems and are even darker than yours?
So many questions , but a great story to find out the answers. Highly recommended

The Other Sister has more twists and turns than a bucking bronco! Jessica R. Patch has penned a thriller that stands out in the genre!

I love how drawn in to Charlotte's life I became - and yet I knew that something was off. I couldn't figure out what, exactly, and the further I got into the story, the deeper the web of deception became, and not just about Charlotte, but about her sister, too. The crime, lies, and unknowns make this a very dark story, and yet it's never overwhelming - Tillie's light, the detective's work, and the clear, hopeful truths that litter the pages keep that from happening.

The ending is awesome. While I never figured it all out exactly, it's the perfect ending for this story - and Patch makes it even better by turning that spotlight of truth up by dozens of megawatts at the end. I highlighted many of these and love how these quoteable truths bring the whole point home.

There is always light, no matter how dark it seems, and we always have the choice to turn to it, no matter how we feel. The Other Sister proves that clean, Christian stories have power. If you enjoy suspenseful thrillers, you need to read The Other Sister - just don't turn off the lights.

The Other Sister is a chilling story about a woman’s struggle to make the right choices, even as everything around her spirals out of control.

Charlotte Kane is trying to rebuild her life when her estranged mother overdoses. While sorting through her mom’s meager belongings, Charlotte discovers a shocking secret—she has a twin sister who was adopted as a baby. After some digging through social media and the internet, Charlotte learns her sister has the life she has always dreamed of: wealth, security, and everything Charlotte has never had. Reaching out, she is thrilled when her sister welcomes her with open arms.

But things take a dark turn, plunging Charlotte into a series of tragic events that derail her plans and push her into a life-altering decision. Charlotte, to save herself, leaps into her sister‘s life and assumes her identity. Only when she gets to Savannah, things are not as they appear. Secrets abound in the wealthy population, secrets that might get Charlotte killed.

Jessica R. Patch’s The Other Sister is gripping, twisted, and impossible to put down. I was sucked into Charlotte‘s story, silently begging her to make better choices as I watched her already broken life spiral further into chaos. She wanted so badly to do the right thing, to move forward, but her decisions only pulled her deeper into the darkness.

The Other Sister kept me captivated until the last chapter. Well done, Jessica! What an unforgettable read!
