My views, and I know others will absolutely love this book. For me not yet a finished article. Inventive urban fantasy with a unique magic system. In fact the magic system based around seeing and controlling people’s fears and phobias was the best part of this story. I really liked that. But things that didn’t make sense to me.: How these fears/phobias came into being in an actual physical hurting/battling thing was not explained. Affecting people mentally, I could make that jump, but fire and water suddenly being produced not so much and not explained. Second, a bug bear of mine - that ‘week’ to perfect use of magic skills before a huge boss battle event; and in this case an untried, being trained, newly recruited member of the Fearwalkers who is let loose time and again into that scenario. For me that’s just not realistic at all. Thank you to Jibran Karim and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.

I love to read books about fears and this is no exception. I enjoyed this very much. The plot, the characters and the writing is a trifecta. Thank you to NetGalley andthe publisher for this ARC!

This was a really well done novel, it had that element that I was hoping for from the description. It had that feel that I was looking for from this type of book and was invested in what was happening. The characters worked well in this universe and Jibran Karim wrote them and the story perfectly.

Shadow Walker is a dark, immersive journey into a world where fear takes on a life of its own—literally. Tyria, born with the rare ability to see and wield fears, is both strong and vulnerable as she battles to master her powers and face the terrifying Phobias threatening humanity. What I loved most was how the story blends psychological tension with vivid action, making the stakes feel personal and epic at the same time. If you enjoy stories where characters grow through their fears and friendships hold them steady, this is the perfect read.

👀 You think you know fear? HA! Shadow Walker says, “Hold my shadow.” Tyria’s got powers, problems, and a bestie in Irene who’s ready to back her up against creepy, living nightmares that’ll give you chills. The best part? It’s not just monsters and mayhem (though there’s plenty of that); it’s Tyria’s journey to owning her darkness and kicking some Phobia butt. This book had me gripping the pages, whispering, “Don’t look behind you…” at 2 a.m. If you love fierce heroines, spooky vibes, and epic showdowns, grab this one now. 🌒🖤📚
