Hollywoodski by Lou Mathews is an offbeat, quirky novel that mixes the glitz of Hollywood with a dash of eccentricity. Picture a rollercoaster ride through Tinseltown’s back alleys where every character, from washed-up actors to bumbling agents, is hilariously out of sync with reality. Mathews’s humor is sharp but warm, creating a world where ambition, confusion, and oddball charm collide. The plot? Well, it's like trying to solve a mystery wrapped in a comedy while wearing sunglasses at night.

While the book definitely doesn’t take itself too seriously, that’s what makes it so fun. The characters are exaggerated but endearing, and the way Mathews pokes fun at the Hollywood dream is both hilarious and oddly heartwarming. If you’re into satire, oddball humor, and a sprinkle of nostalgia for the golden age of Hollywood, Hollywoodski is your ticket to a wild, weird, and wonderful ride.

I loved that this as a collection of stories from a "faded" screenwriter, it had that element that I was looking for from a Hollywood memoir. I was hooked from the first page and enjoyed the way everything was written. Lou Mathews has a strong writing style and am excited for more.

After reading about this book, I was really excited to dive into it - but unfortunately it was not quite what I expected and it didn't really catch me at any point. Maybe I simply knew too little about what it was about so it just went over my head. I am sure that people who know much more about the film industry enjoy this read much more than I was able to. This is a classic case of "it's not you, it's me".

this was a pretty good read! it pulled at different emotions as I was reading, and even though i couldn't be more different from the character, I still was able to feel emotions for them. I liked the way this book was written!!

Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!
