I love Meg Mitchell Moore's books so I was really excited for this one. I definitely liked it, but it's definitely not her best.
Most of MMM's books include a wide range of characters (age-wise, at least). The characters in this one were all young people and while she wrote them well, I missed the varied perspectives her books usually include. I loved the Block Island setting but wish she'd gotten more into the specifics of the island and its people.
This book moved very slowly and didn't include much action. I was a bit bored at times, if I'm being honest.
I recommend this as a beach read but if you're looking to be wildly entertained, I say skip it.
3.6 rounded up to 4.

I’m not sure what to say about this book except that it had good bones but seemed to lack follow through. It was an interesting enough story with characters that intrigued me, but when push came to shove, I just didn’t care that much about the different characters and what happened to them along with their motives for things. It was kind of like a reality TV drama with some upper class opulence and lack of awareness of consequences mixed in. A somewhat mediocre book.

Mansion Beach is the new novel by Meg Mitchell Moore. Set on Block Island it's a good summer read with a bit of romance, a bit of mystery, and an insider's look at the very rich. There were some characters that came across a bit cliche', but then again cliche's are present because of how often people present in certain ways.
I enjoyed reading this book and sitting in my beach chair it read easily. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. Mansion Beach is available now.

Decent but the ending was disappointing. 3.5 stars rounded up to four for me. Thank for for the opportunity!

I always enjoy Meg Mitchell Moore's novels. Mansion Beach, a twist on F. Scott Fitagerald's The Great Gatsby, does not disappoint. This drama is filled with wealthy characters who lead dysfunctional lives. The story is told from multiple points of view. Nicola, the poor relation can be caomapred to Nick, who sereves as the narrator in Gatsby! Mixed in with the drama is a mystery. I highly recommend this novel. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

Mansion Beach is completely engaging. The characters and the setting are great. I never wanted to put the book down.
The character development was very well done.
A beautifully written and well plotted page-turner.
Absolutely and thoroughly enjoyed this amazing new novel.

Hello summer, hello Block Island. Twisty new novel by Meg Mitchell Moore will have you not wanting to put it down. Complex characters set in a beautiful setting is a winning combination.
Nicola is starting on a new professional path leaving her career as a lawyer. With the help of her favorite cousin, she moves to Block Island for the summer. Immersed in a world of wealth and opulence, she finds everything is not as it seems. Definitely recommend this for your beach bag this summer! Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow Publishing for this advance read.

This was a fun twist on a Great Gatsby retelling! I enjoyed the setting and the retelling portion of the book, but in general it fell a bit flat for me. I found it to be a little wordy and just not super attention-grabbing. I also liked the rich-people vibes, that's always a favorite of mine in a book.
Overall, this is a worthy summer read and I'm sure it will be appearing in my social media feed soon!

Many thanks to NetGalley and William Morrow for gifting me a digital ARC of the new book by Meg Mitchell Moore. All opinions expressed in this review are my own - 4 stars!
It's summer on Block Island, Rhode Island, and things are heating up. Nicola is looking for a fresh start and some rest at her cousin David's cottage, but the parties happening next door pull her in. That home belongs to Juliana, an entrepreneur with a mysterious past who is preparing for a major IPO. But she's also hoping to rekindle a flame with a many who has connections to Nicola. Taylor is David's wife; she has everything she planned for and won't let anyone take it away. Then there's a dead body.
This is being touted as a take on The Great Gatsby, but although I'm sure I read that in high school, I don't remember enough of it to speak on that. I had a bit of trouble figuring out the time switches as we learned about the characters’ pasts, but as soon as I got started in the chapter, it was easy to figure out. This is a good book to escape into, a character study of classism, and how our secrets threaten us and hold us back. None of the characters are extremely likable, but it's filled with scandals and messiness - just what you want for a summer beach read!

The perfect book to read this summer -- Mansion Beach is a retelling of Great Gatsby, set on Block Island, Rhode Island among the super-wealthy and privileged. Nicola arrives on Block Island for a fresh start. She's just broken up with her long time boyfriend, is about to turn 30, and has quit her job as an attorney. Now, she is living rent free in the cottage owned by her cousin David's wife's family and starting an internship with the goal of studying marine biology. She is soon fascinated by her next door neighbor, Juliana, who has a huge, fabulous house and throws huge parties (and doesn't attend them, mainly). Nicola gets to know Juliana, and connects with her cousin David and his wealthy wife, Taylor. She only realizes later that David and Juliana have a connection from their past, and she plays a part in getting them together. This book is so engaging and well written, I couldn't put it down. I look forward to recommending it. I think readers who enjoy books by Elin Hilderbrand will love this.

The Martha's Vineyard Beach and Book Club by Martha Kelly follows the lives of the Smith family during World War 2. Brother Tom ships off to war while sisters Briar and Cadence along with the grandma and friends work on the family farm. The island is taken over by the military and many events unravel through the story. In 2016, Mari goes to the farm and meets Ms. Dev ereax. This story is beautifully woven between the past and present.

Meg Mitchell Moore is one of my go-to authors for smart, satisfying beach reads, and Mansion Beach totally delivers. I was so happy to be back on Block Island again—she always captures the vibe perfectly. This one follows a woman who escapes to the island after her marriage falls apart and ends up getting caught up in the buzz around a new app called Look Book, which is kind of like Pinterest meets Instagram for your real life. Honestly, I wish it existed because I would download it in a second. There’s family drama, second chances, and a touch of mystery too. It’s the kind of summer read that’s breezy but still has some emotional depth. Loved it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
This was another delightful beach read from Meg Mitchell Moore. This time, the book took a spin on The Great Gatsby and is a semi-retelling of the classic book by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I enjoyed the characters in this book, and I found this book to be pretty addicting to read. Once I started this book, I was hooked. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I can't wait to see what Meg Mitchell Moore writes next!

The island is small, but the drama is large!
Nicola has ended a long-term relationship that was going nowhere and is summering at Block Island, RI thanks to the generosity of her favorite cousin David's extremely wealthy wife. Enjoying her job as an intern at a local aquarium, Nicola's summer is nothing like she expected after she hooks up a famous golfer, meets a fashion executive whose company is getting ready to go public and a slightly annoying PR employee to both her cousin's wife and newly wealthy neighbor.
The voice of this book was so unique it made the story much more engaging. Half-way speaking to the reader, but more to narrator himself (herself?). it is almost like the story is a conversation. Twisty enough at the end - I was really starting to panic on whose body it would be - I highly recommended beach read.

Meg Mitchell Moore’s Mansion Beach is a lush, windswept gender-swapped retelling of The Great Gatsby, set against the glossy backdrop of coastal privilege and buried secrets.
✨ 3.5/5 stars — great for fans of Elin Hilderbrand and modern literary reimaginings
This is a quiet, introspective read — less about plot twists, more about emotional unraveling. I appreciated the fresh take on the classic tale of longing, wealth, and reinvention, but with a fresh perspective, not to mention female ambition. The tension was slow-burning, but real, though some moments didn’t hit as hard as I hoped.

Mansion Beach by Meg Mitchell Moore ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Reading the beginning I thought I was re-reading The Great Gatsby all over again. You find out at end with Author's notes, that it's not a re-telling, so I'm telling you now so you can get that out of your head and concentrate on the plot and characters. There are many so pay attention to who's who.
There's a murder on Block Island and Meg keeps you entertained till the ending when all will be revealed.
Thank you Netgallery and publisher for this advanced copy

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
5 STARS⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mansion Beach delivers a truly unique and captivating story, reminiscent of The Great Gatsby in its exploration of wealth and longing, yet forging its own unforgettable path. The characters are richly drawn and utterly compelling, each with their own secrets and desires that pull you deeper into the narrative. Set in Block Island, the story unfolds with a masterful, twisty plot that keeps you guessing until the final, satisfying reveal. I could not put this one down, it was an easy 5 stars for me because of its originality fascinating story. I think this will be a favorite this summer!

(ARC review) — Thank you to author Meg Mitchell Moore and her publisher William Morrow Publishing. I received an Advanced Reader Copy for the May 2025 release of MANSION BEACH in exchange for my honest review.
The writing style was different and made for a very slow read. I was often rereading sections multiple times.
This book brought the drama and bad behavior. It was entertaining, but not enjoyable if that makes sense. It’s the type of book where you won’t like a single character.
I also didn’t like that the book finally got going and then felt like it abruptly ended. This book was just so/so for me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was really fun and set on beautiful Block Island - there are a lot of things going on - fabulous parties, a mystery, old love and secrets, and even a career change! It made me want to go to the beach! The pacing was both fast and slow at times and the chapters are very long but I still loved it’
Thank you to NetGalley and Williams Morrow for the digital advanced readers copy!! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Add it to your TBR!

Thanks Netgalley for an ARC of this book. This one took me a really long time to get through. It’s the story of Nicola, who’s spending the summer on Block Island courtesy of her cousin’s rich wife (she’s staying in one of their properties on the island.) She lives next door to a wealthy entrepreneur, Juliana- her backstory was the best part of the book. The story follows the two neighbors as they interact and have various dramas with the other island residents.
The book doesn’t really find its footing until the last 20%. I felt like it just dragged a lot and meandered. It’s a decent beach book but I didn’t love it.
