This told the story of stars perfectly and was engaged with what was being told. It had that scientific element that I was looking for and was hooked on learning the information. Nathan Hellner-Mestelman was able to create a strong story and was able to keep the reader engaged.

This journey from the Big Bang to modern society explores the forces that created and threaten life, the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, and the unifying language of mathematics that connects everything.

Fun and funny, this clever and informative book tells the story of the universe in a warm and inspirational way. Suitable for beginners as well as more seasoned fans of cosmology, it left me feeling awed by the universe and the place of humans in it.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

The Language of the Stars is a love letter to anyone who loves science, history, and the planet we live on. Nathan Hellner-Mestelman takes the reader on an enlightening, yet comedic, journey of how our Universe came to be and what might happen in the future. As someone with a background in astronomy, I loved the insightful commentary, well researched fun facts, and new perspective on the subject as a whole. This book is a great beginners guide to start any budding astronomer on their way to further pursuits in the field. It's a fun read with a variety of topics and accompanying cartoons that keeps you giggling at the next joke. I absolutely recommend this book to young adult and teen readers and rate this novel 4 stars out of 5. It is really strong explaining the inner workings of cosmology and the Universe, but I lost a bit of motivation in the middle while discussing pre-historic Earth. That may just be my preferences affecting the read, but I did really enjoy this novel and highly recommend it!
