This is so good! It's engaging, fast paced the romance is as always perfect!
Poseidon is too good for Olymus, I love that Icarus found a purpose, Hera is definitely scary and I would love to kick Zeus.
Thank you to Netgally, sourcebooks casablanca and Katee Robert for the E-Arc.

Thank you so much NetGalley and sourcebooks for giving me and early copy of this book go read and review. All thoughts are my own.

This was such a fast pace read. It is shorter than the rest in this series and I do wish it had been longer but it was still enjoyable. I read this in one sitting and just wanted more of these lover boys.

I am curious about Circe but I guess we will figure that out in the next book? The plot was interesting, the characters were great as always, and man…that spice was SPICY. Katee seriously never lets me down with her writing. I can’t wait for book 9.

4 stars!

I love the Dark Olympus series however this may be my least favourite. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it and 3 stars in my opinion is still a good rating. I just couldn’t get past the ‘big guy’ every single sentence. The plot was good and I love the overarching storyline throughout all the books and this one was no exception. A good ending, too. I still highly recommend and I can’t wait for the next one!!!

This was such a great exchange of sweet and spicy! Katee delivered in this story. We got more of a background into the characters, as well as an expansion on all of the thirteen. I don’t normally love instalove but the way Katee wrote it felt very organic.

I absolutely love the reimagining of Greek mythology that Katee Robert writes. Having them all be interconnected stand alone is amazing. And I haven’t found a book that disappoints in this series.

In this story we follow Icarus and Poseidon. The tragedies, the growth, and so much spice. But not too much where the spice is the main focus. But the dynamic between the two will want you to keep reading for more!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the eARC.

The book prior to this one was a flop so it was my hope this one would redeem it. Honestly, I think the series has just gone on too long. It’s lost my interest and wasn’t able to re-capture it.

Sweet Obsession by Katee Robert

The danger is at their door and still the Thirteen squabble like children. Poseiden has been on the fringes of the previous books, but he's at the forefront here. There's much to his backstory that we likely will not find out, so be prepared. And there is much that has not been uncovered. But it's nice to see Icarus come into his own.

Loved reading the mesmerizing and engaging story. Even though Icarus is Poseidon's prisoner, Icarus wants to help Poseidon with the war with Circe. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a must read riveting story by the fabulous author, Katee Robert.

Gonna be brutally honest here even though I LOVE this series. The past couple books have been meh for me. I found myself not that interested in the main couple. Don't get me wrong I love anything about Poseidon which is why I was so excited about this. Icarus was okay, but I just didn't care about their character. Idk why. It could be that I felt just nothing for the couple. Their banter was fine. Idk just didn't hit for me. I loved the political plot. I was more interested in that than anything. Don't get me wrong a pain kink is fun but the politics drama was definitely more enjoyable here. Thank you so much for the ARC! I am excited that I got an opportunity to read a book early from one of my fave authors!

I don’t know about other lovers of the series but I feel like the last couple books have been fillers just to get certain side characters that actually don’t end up serving any real importance to the final end game their own endings. This and the previous two books feels like we’re being strung along just waiting for Zeus and Hera’s story.

I’ve been a lover of Dark Olympus from the beginning, I love how Robert created a unique Olympus where the gods are a role not a particular person is still a genius concept to me.

However, I feel the series as a whole has been slipping since Radiant Sin, we’re now in the part of the series with the overall looming threat but I find none of the last few books have been able to stand on their own, and instead been used as plot devices to get us to the next book.

The sex and the kink was done well, but I found it unbelievable that the entire book happened in three days and it ended the way it did. I love how Poseidon is Icarus’ lover because in the original myth he fell into the sea, and for Robert’s first fully MM romance it was good but I just didn’t feel the chemistry.

All that being said and critical, I still recommend people to start the series and give it a go, it’s still one of my fave retellings and Greek series.

Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for an early eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Olympus is falling, but so is Icarus. I’ve loved this series since I first read Neon Gods, and honestly Kate Robert is an instant buy for me, don’t even bother with the blurb anymore. I really enjoyed getting to know Icarus and Poseidon in this book - and the fact that not everything you see on the outside, and your assumptions of them are correct.

This book starts right where the last one left off, with Icarus being taken prisoner by Poseidon, but (aside from the romantic interest) it did not go where I was expecting. I am very much looking forward to the next book to see how the issue with Circe is going to be resolved.

First off, thank you to Net Galley and Sourcebooks for the e-arc!

I absolutely loved this installment of the Dark Olympus series. Hands down my favorite so far, which I was not expecting, because book 7 was my least favorite. This being the 8th book in a series, there is pretty much nothing I can tell you about the plot without spoiling something so I’m not even going to attempt to go there. But I can say that I adored Poseidon and Icarus. The vulnerability that was shown by both of them was really lovely and important for the relationship, and it was done very very well. This story does take place over only a few days, so the emotions involved are incredibly intense and insta-lovey, but it’s actually recognized by both parties, which I appreciate. And because of the histories of both characters and the trauma they have both dealt with, this story could have gone very differently. This is one instance where the insta-love didn’t feel super forced. Neither character forgot that they had responsibilities to their people, but they also were able to find the safety they need both needed to let them choose themselves as well. I know this is all terribly vague, but hopefully it gives you a feeling of the vibes at least! Lastly, I am very glad I liked this book because I saw yesterday that the audiobook is narrated by one of my favorite narrators, so I’m super excited to go back and listen to it if I need I refresher! Thanks again to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for the opportunity to read and review this e-arc!

Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the preview. All opinions are my own.

For this Dark Olympus installment, we have a MM captor/prisoner romance with Dom/Sub play. And for someone who USUALLY complains when one of these books is too plot heavy, I was happy this one was rather heavy on the plot because I didn't love the romance. I did really like Poseidon. Honestly, he's too pure for this world. But I just didn't like Icarus from the get-go, and never really came around to him.

At least the spice was spicing and it's a short and easy read. I actually can't wait for Hera and Zeus's book next because I have a feeling that one is going to be insane. Plus, I need to know what's going to happen with the Circe plot.

I do think this one will have a lot of fans. Each book is just different, and I tend to prefer the books with more than 2 people in the relationship.

Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC of this!

I am so obsessed with this series and how fun it is! As soon as Dark Restraint was ending, I could see this pairing coming and I was READY. It didn’t disappoint, I especially like how power dynamics were played with. It continued moving the overarching series plot, showed more insight into the current 13, and managed to be as fun and hot as the rest of the series.

Katee Robert has an absolutely magical way of turning myths into something new and exciting. This story of Icarus and Poseidon was one I never thought of as a reality but after reading this book, I feel as though Katee Robert’s has rewrote Greek Myth for me. Her writing was just superb as always.

I will say some parts did drag out a little bit and others I didn’t connect with but those were minimal in comparison to the whole story.

I received this eARC from NetGalley (thank goodness because this series has been living rent free since I finished reading Dark Restraint)! I loved Icarus’s and Poseidon’s story, the tenderness and respect between the two was wonderful…we love a man who calmly talks through disagreements (and a man who talks you through it). Overall, it was a phenomenal love story, and it sets up well for the next book. Also godbless Katee for not leaving us on a massive cliffhanger because I don’t know if I would’ve survived waiting until the next book if there was one!

I wanted to love Sweet Obsessions, but at 35%, I knew this one wasn’t for me. Katee Robert’s Dark Olympus series has been a hit-or-miss journey, and unfortunately, this installment leans toward the latter.

The setup had promise—Poseidon, the gruff and duty-bound warrior, and Icarus, the so-called enemy who may not be so villainous after all. The captor/captive dynamic, the tension of Olympus on the brink of collapse, and the potential for a slow-burn, forbidden romance all sounded like the perfect ingredients for an addicting read. But instead, the pacing felt sluggish, the chemistry lacked spark, and I struggled to connect with either character.

Icarus, in particular, felt underdeveloped. His personality seemed inconsistent, bouncing between bratty and vulnerable in a way that felt more forced than organic. Poseidon had potential as a broody protector, but he read as flat and unmemorable. The push and pull between them wasn’t enough to keep me invested, and by the time I hit the 35% mark, I realized I didn’t care about the outcome of their relationship—or the war looming over Olympus.

I typically love Katee Robert’s signature blend of heat and emotional depth, but Sweet Obsessions felt like it was missing both. Maybe it picks up in the second half, but for me, the slow pacing, lackluster chemistry, and uneven character development made this one a DNF.

I’m usually a fan of this author’s work but this book I don’t know why but I just couldn’t get into it I’m found myself finding it hard to even pick up the book at times but I did find it to be an alright read like a dead in the middle meh read

Since I had read first few books of this series and enjoyed them I thought this book will be the same for me. I absolutely loved the captor/captee dynamic but for me the insta love/lust didnt sit right. Also for people who might have read first few books, the book can get a bit complicated in terms of details and world building.
