Katee Robert is my favorite spicy author, and I love this Dark Olympus series. All of her books have crossover, continued drama, and a great unique universe with lots of easter eggs. the SPICE of course is magnificent and the plot keeps it all moving seamlessly. Auto-buy author!

Love all things Katee Robert, every book in the Dark Olympus series has held something fun and intriguing that has me coming back for more of these books and retellings, this one fell slightly flat for me though. As much as I loved the idea of it, I didn't connect with the characters as much as I hoped, but still really loved reading it!

While the premise was nice, the writing was... not what I expected. I wanted more from the characters because I felt that what was on the front cover and the front flap was not what we were given.

Reading this book was really fantastic! I've loved this series since the beginning, and we're really getting into the end stages, there's only 2 more books after this. And boy, are big moves being made! Plus, I adored Icarus and Poseidon together!
The events in the previous book have really ramped up the stakes in this book, Circe and Aeaens are right on the verge of attacking, and there's not much of a defense that Olympus can put up, given now that their main method of the barrier is now down.
Katee Robert had made it a point not to write a MM romance until now, which I totally understand. But I'm glad that they wrote these two together, because I really enjoyed them as characters, and their dynamic, that Poseidon was in a place of power, and Icarus was his prisoner, but in the bedroom, it was different.
There were a few big moves in this book, and so much plotting and scheming that Poseidon doesn't want to get involved in, but because of his position, he has to. With what happened in this book and where we left things, I'm really excited for Hera and Zeus' story!
Loved reading this book, and I can't wait to see how the series is going to wrap up and conclude!

Every single thing this human rights is literal gold.
They can do no wrong, and I will accept no criticism.
This whole series is political genius!!!

I enjoyed this one but not as much as the other in the series. I fear I maybe be approaching burn out. I'm was glad to see progression in the Olympus-in-danger storyline but the fact that there are still multiple more books to come is worrisome to the affect of how much more I can continue this series when it now is starting to feel a little repetitive.

Once again another perfect book for this series! Was full of adventure and lots of twists I definitely did not see coming. Thank you again for the ARC! I cant wait for the next one I love this series!

Once again, Katee Roberts has proven to me what an excellent world builder she is! This new entry to the series is so good, and so "next step" to this world, I am already ready for the next one!

Icarus becomes Poseidon's prisoner and intends to seduce him for his own safety. But he doesn't mean to actually fall for him. This was a fun, steamy romance and I liked how both had to come to terms with what they actually wanted in life in order to be together. They were really cute and I was rooting for them the whole time!

I didn’t love the last book in the Dark Olympus series (it was a little too dark—pardon the pun—for me) so I was hesitant going into this one. But it was so enjoyable! It reminded me of the books I liked earlier in the series with more of the political drama and world-building, while keeping the focus on the characters and the romance. It was a fun and spicy read that brought me back into the series and now I can’t wait for the next book!

Eight books deep, and it’s still a fun ride! The previous book wasn’t my favorite, but this one put things back on track for me. I really enjoyed Poseidon and Icarus’s love story, and we also got some interesting developments in the overarching series storyline. After seeing Icarus through the last few books, his character development in Sweet Obsession was a nice change of pace. Really looking forward to Hera and Zeus’s story next 👀

Katee Robert has done it again, but this time with an unlikely pairing. I wouldn't have thought to put Icarus and Poseidon together, but in this case it works great. With forced proximity and age gap being the main tropes this is a beautifully told story mixing modern day with the Greek mythology. The little hints and references to the original mythos really make the story. This is one of my favorite series to consume and I would recommend it to anyone who grew up reading stories based on mythology but now want something more adult.

The plot advanced nicely with some threats and some twists, all sprinkled with 🌶️. The couple was a little insta love, and the epilogue has some interesting implications for the timing of the next two books. I can’t wait for Zeus and Hera next!

I think that this may be my favorite book in the Dark Olympus series so far!! This book was absolutely amazing! The pining and angst was so beautiful and I just loved Poseidon and Icarus so much! The way Icarus took his past and his time captive with Poseidon to learn more about himself and to really confront the uncomfortable things and grow! His journey with his feelings and his self-image is so heart wrenching but also so incredibly beautiful! And getting to see Poseidon in his role as a Legacy Title and how he leads his people is so amazing, and seeing him both in his own eyes and through Icarus's just makes you fall in love with him immediately! The way he supports and trusts Icarus as he continues to learn more about him is so wonderfully written. Watching these two slowly warm to each other, and over come their own pasts and assumptions of the other to be together, even despite the politics and impending war in Olympus, was so amazing. Adding the all the contention of the current state of the world of Olympus and this whole book was non-stop emotion, kept me on the edge of my seat, and just kept me hooked the entire time!! I had the hardest time putting this book down anytime I needed to. I loved these two so much, and I think they may be one of my all time favorite book couples! Once again, Katee Robert delivers an absolute BANGER and makes me sob over this series!!! 5 stars; 4.25 chili peppers

Katee Robert is in a completely different league of her own and stratosphere above so many other authors. Every time I read one of her books they just keep getting better and better..

I loved Poseidon and Icarus. They were a great mix of sweet and sexy. Both of these characters grew so much in this book and learned to lean on one another and accept that their past does not define them and they are in control of their own futures.
I was thoroughly invested in the plot and story right from the get go. I have been reading this series since Neon Gods first came out, and watching all of the characters have their story told is so fun. Poseidon has always been more of a mystery. He tended to stay out of the spotlight of the other books, which just intrigued me more. Icarus had previously been painted as a villain, but he got his redemption arc in this book. I only hope we see them in the final book.
The chemistry between these two was off the charts. The spice was, as always with a Katee Roberts book, next level. I really appreciated the neuro divergent representation in this book and how it was depicted on the page. The relationship really grew and I enjoyed every page. It was also nice to see a more gentle character depicted as the other characters all seem to be more rough around the edges.
Overall, I loved this book and I can't wait to see what is left of the remainder of the series.

This is the 8th entry in the Dark Olympus series, and very quickly became one of my favourite Katee Robert books yet. I have been WAITING for this one because I’ve been intrigued by Poseidon since Neon Gods, and I feel like I fell in love with him alongside Icarus throughout this story.
The relationship between Poseidon and Icarus felt so genuine and real, and I really appreciated the pacing of their romance. I’ve had some issues with some of the other couples in this series (I’m looking at you, Ariadne and Minotaur + Helen/Patroclus/Achilles), but there was something that felt so grounded about these two. It felt incredibly human, and the tension between them was GORGEOUS. And as always, Katee delivers with the smut. I blushed my way through a lotttt of this book.
I genuinely enjoy the world building of Dark Olympus and find it much stronger than the Wicked Villains series, but I’m really finding the Circe storyline to be a bit tired. She’s a fantastic “antagonist” - and as all of Katee Robert’s characters do, she gets provided with really interesting motivation - but I’m just sort of ready for the conclusion we’re approaching.
All of this to say, I very much enjoyed this one, and it’s reinvigorated my excitement to see how the series is going to play out! (Also I am gnawing at the bars of my enclosure for Zeus and Hera’s story. Give it to me nowwwwwwwwwwwww)

The book felt very drawn out. I feel like over the last three books there has been very little action and the story line is being drawn out to the point where the books are getting boring. I’m only reading them still to get to Zeus and Hera honestly. We’ve had the same overarching storyline for all 8 books now and it’s still barely progressed.

2.5/5 Stars | They had me in the first half...
What I liked: I really and truly thought for the first 75% of this book that this was plot-forward and actually going to make some progress on the overarching plot for the series as a whole. I think that the relationship aspect of this book could have worked incredibly well if the entire book had been set over more than just three days--they were well matched and I see where Katee Robert was going with them together.
What I didn't like: Insta-love gives me the ick every time. You cannot convince me in any world and under any circumstances that after 3 days and barely any conversations that they're saying "I love you"s and making life-altering plans. I was also incredibly disappointed in the letdown of the overall conflict. We spent an entire book setting something up just for it to be kind of resolved, but not really and no additional progress to the overall plot.
I really, really want to finish this series, and I plan on it, but the last 3-4 books have all been 2 stars for me. It may not be for me and that is sad, but we shall see!
Thanks to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this e-ARC!

Sweet Obsession by Katee Robert describes Icarus’ captivity with Poseidon. Poseidon is a gentle and caring captor who realizes Icarus isn’t the enemy and vows to take care of Icarus while Circe is ready to set fire to Olympus.
I enjoyed the story telling and relationship development between Icarus and Poseidon. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
