I wanted and needed more from this book. While the insta love can be enjoyable in books this felt a little rushed and under developed. We know one of the MMC, Icarus, from other books in the series, learning his motivations/backstory; this book furthers our understanding of the role he played in Minos’ games. Poseidon, we knew next to nothing about throughout the series and this book (his book) we don’t learn all that much about him and his character feels underdeveloped. The information we get about him in his POV is repetitive and that time could have been spent giving him a richer backstory.
The overall story arc throughout the series feels dragged out at this point and no progress was really made in this book. The issues with the thirteen and Circe invading felt anticlimactic and basically pointless in this book, leaving us on a ship with no confrontation. Circe is proving to be too elusive for the thirteen and the romances are being lost to this story arc.
I love Katee's book and look forward to each installment of this series but the romances are being used as a vessel for Circe’s invasion instead of that story arc enriching the romance.

I crushed this book and read it in one sitting. I liked this story way more that I thought I would since I wasn’t sure about Poseidon and Icarus. But their relationship turned out great and I actually really enjoyed their dynamic. However, I struggled with the plot in this book. Not much actually happened considering the barrier keeping Circe out was destroyed in the last book. I thought there would be more action in this book but nothing happens until the end and even that part wasn’t much. I will say that I am very excited that we finally got to see more from Zeus. His and Hera’s relationship has been up in the air for so many books and we finally got to see his side of things. I am so excited that their book is next! I have been waiting for their story and think it’s going to be so interesting!

Katee Robert is a favorite of mine. Her latest, Sweet Obsession will leave her fans wanting more. Pick this one up on publication day.

Definitely a comeback after the last book in this series! It surprised me how much I enjoyed reading about Poseidon and Icarus - The tension, spice and kink were just perfect, I loved it!
I found this book a bit heavy on the Olympian politics - The whole Circe saga has just dragged on a bit too long for me. Looking forward to that all being resolved - and can we please have Hermes' book next?!

Literally, I have no words for how obsessed I am with Sweet Obsession. I read it in one sitting. I didn’t care about anything else until I finished reading Sweet Obsession. And I literally obsessed with it so much. Like, I need everyone else to read as soon as possible. It’s so freaking good. I need to reread it again and wait patiently for the next book in the series.
If you haven’t already caught up with the series, then you need to. There is too much to say without knowing the plot from the beginning. It’s best to start the series asap.
For those who read the series and are waiting for Sweet Obsession, let me tell you that the series and the plot are getting more and more intense. Seriously, the plot is so freaking good and backstabbing that I can’t wait for the next one. I can’t wait to know what’s going to happen. I need to know who is going to win, or more like what’s really going to happen with Olympus.
And the spicy between Poseidon and Icarus was too freaking amazing. Like the spicy, the tension, the tease, the longing! Ma’am, you know how to write a hot, spicy romance scene, Katee Robert’s! I need more, please.

Icarus is the supposed enemy of Olympus but he just wants to escape. He falls for Poseidon....
Love this series. The political intrigue... the steamy scenes... :) Poseidon is interesting and so is Icarus.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Wow. Just. Wow. Katee Robert hits this one out of the park. I’d been putting off reading this book because I know the next one won’t be released for MONTHS and my heart hurt at the idea of having to impatiently wait. But I’m so glad I read it.
I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t a fan of the book right before this one, Dark Restraint. I had to push through that one to get to the end which is never the case with her books. So I was a bit trepidatious in reading this one. But I will never doubt Katee again.
Poseidon is just ugh. Such a strong rock of a teddy bear. And Icarus’s growth through the book is lovely to see. I also enjoyed the side characters and how sneaky (or not so sneaky?) they all attempt to be. I have no idea who is the true villain or the true hero but I’m loving the ride.

The next book in Dark Olympus is finally here!! I swear I eat these books up in 1-2 days, they’re always so captivating and a great mix of romance and plot.
We’ve got some major political shifts happening throughout Sweet Obsession. The war seems to be looming closer each day but there are so many unknown allegiances still at play, I have no idea how this war will end! Still hoping for Zeus and Hera endgame tho🫶🏼
Icarus and Poseidon aren’t my favorite pairing in the Dark Olympus universe, but they aren’t my least favorite. I don’t quite buy their insta-love / attraction due to being enemies on opposite sides of the war. However, they do bring out the best in each other, with Poseidon growing in confidence and autonomy and Icarus finding self-love.
I cannot believe we have to wait until 2026 for the next book, I’m dying for the next😩 Always a top tier series for dark fantasy/romance lovers
Thank you NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Katee Roberts never misses. Every book in this series is a win, and this is no exception. Loved picked back up on the world and delving into the storyline of these two.

I have loved this entire series, and this book is no exception. I enjoyed the continuation of the Circe plot with the addition of Poseidon and Icarus. Although I've read some MMF books before, this was my first MM book. The tension that builds between Poseidon and Icarus is addictive. It was hard to not completely ignore life and read this book in one sitting. Now to not so patiently wait for the next book.

I haven’t read the entire series. I jumped from Neon Gods to this one. So I missed a lot of the back story but it didn’t really affect me understanding the story. It was fantastic. Katee doesn’t disappoint! Was the perfect amount of spicy with kinks and lots of naughty goodness. I ate this book up so fast. Absolutely devoured it. Finished it in just a few hours because I couldn’t put it down. Loved it.

Sweet Obsession takes place after the fall of the barrier in Olympus and the escape of the Minotaur and Ariadne. With Circes’ army on the rise, Icarus must learn to adapt to his captivity under the irresistible Poseidon. And my is he steamy! Bratty sub/grumpy dom with a twist! A celebration of kink with a compelling storyline.
I love anything by Katee Robert and I am still gushing I got to read the latest installment of the Dark Olympus series. Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for the ARC!

I love Katee Robert and the Dark Olympus series has mostly been hit or miss for me. The first three were pretty strong but there are others that aren't my favorite. This one is a strong one! Icarus and shy cinnamon roll Poseidon were a treat. I am genuinely excited to see how this series will wrap up and I'm glad these two got their story. It's sweet and sexy and tragic all at once. Really liked it!

All of the Lore Olympus books have a decent balance of plot and smut, but Sweet Obsession seems to be a bit more plot-focused, which I actually really loved. This series has had such a wonderful buildup falling in love with/alongside all of the new characters we meet, and I'm glad that the overarching story hasn't gotten lost in there. Across eight books, that's really impressive and each one gets better and better. An absolute must read!

Sweet Obsession is a great addition to the Dark Olympus series.
Starting right where the last book left off, Icarus is captured by Poseidon. Poseidon and the rest of the Thirteen are having to face the looming threat of Circe off the coast of Olympus and the barrier having fallen. Poseidon tries to gain knowledge from Icarus, but along the way things heat up between the two of them.
Yet another fantastic read from Katee Robert. This book does a great job at balancing advancing the overarching plot and giving us a great love story between Poseidon and Icarus. I continue to eat up this series.

Icarus makes me want to just wrap him up in a hug and tell him everything is going to be okay. Thankfully Poseidon does it for us. This was not the story I expected from these two and it was all the better for it. I think the buildup to them getting together was really well paced and their attraction to each other was HAWT! Can’t wait for the next Katee Robert book in this series!

I enjoyed this installment of the Dark Olympus series after being a bit disappointed with the last two and I think it is because the spice was incorporated into the plot more so than the last few books. The story builds upon the greater threat to Olympus.
The title is so appropriate as this romance was very sweet; it is the story of Poseidon and Icarus and their forced proximity and captor/captive situation. The way these two approach their relationship felt honest and mature even with all the obstacles. The inclusivity, including pronouns, of this series continues in this book.
Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley.

This wasn't my favorite of the Dark Olympus series, but it was still very good. I liked the characters, but felt the story line was lacking a bit. Regardless, people are already requesting it and we've added several copies to our purchase list!

Sweet Obsession is definitely the sweetest of the Dsrk Olympus series, in my opinion. I related so much to both Poseidon and Icarus and their desires for different lives and wanting to be seen for their true selves, rather than the public perception of them. I loved the neurodivergent representation of Poseidon. I won’t spoil the ending, but I found it to be very satisfying, more so than the others in the series. I’m looking forward to the next books in the series!

I’ll be honest—I wasn’t completely sold on the last two books, but this one felt like a return to form for Katee Robert. While the romance is still front and center, there’s a stronger plot this time, and the characters feel more fully developed rather than just being driven by their attraction. This one finally balances the steam with an actual plot (yes, miracles do happen). The stakes are high, Olympus is on the brink of war, and amidst all the chaos, Poseidon and Icarus find themselves caught in a complicated, slow-burning connection that feels both intense and surprisingly tender.
Poseidon is the perfect mix of stoic strength and reluctant vulnerability, burdened by responsibility yet unable to ignore his growing feelings. Icarus, on the other hand, is fiery and defiant, but there’s a softness to him that makes his journey all the more compelling. His sharp tongue and rebellious nature make for a fantastic contrast to Poseidon’s more measured approach, and watching their relationship evolve from enemies to something much deeper was truly satisfying. Their dynamic—built on tension, banter, and undeniable chemistry—kept me hooked, and I loved watching their walls slowly come down.
Beyond the romance, the world-building adds depth to the story, with Olympus on the verge of collapse and old allegiances being tested. The stakes feel real, and for once, the external conflict isn’t just a backdrop for the romance but an integral part of the narrative. It makes the emotional moments hit even harder because there’s so much more at risk.
Is this a historically accurate retelling of mythology? Absolutely not. But does it deliver on drama, passion, and an irresistible slow-burn romance? Without a doubt.
