THRILLER QUEEN đź‘‘

Lisa Jewell is one of my OG thriller obsessions. Her books never disappoint! I truly couldn’t believe I got to read an ARC from @netgalley.

There are multiple POV, multiple timelines, and lots of people but it is done so well without being confusing. Of course a final twist too!

🗓️OUT JUNE 24

Not my favorite Lisa Jewell book, but still enjoyed! I found myself having to suspend my disbelief a little too often to fully engage in the story. I enjoyed most of the characters and think thriller fans won’t be too disappointed.

Lis Jewell kept me up all night. I could not put this book down. A narcistic man and the women who's lives he ruined. It was all about the money. I was a little surprised how easily he charmed the women into giving him money, but as the writer said he was an expert.

Lisa Jewel keeps us on the edge of our seats trying to figure this story out. Don't Let Him In looks into the lives of quite a few women who are affected by the same man. Nina, Ash and Martha are connected to the same man eventhough they have no clue they are. You will be trying to figure out the twists and turns of this book. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. .

A very solid 4! Twisty and fun. Easy to follow the characters and plot. I read it over 2 days, hard to put down!

While I am a Lisa Jewell fan, I am not a fan of this book. This was the slowest, most monotonous read with a lackluster ending. Don’t Let Him In does not read like a thriller, but more like a very long and drawn out mystery/suspense. I could not empathize with any of the characters and at times, I actually found myself hating it.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced readers copy.

The last Lisa Jewell that I really enjoyed was the Family Upstairs and this one also kept me very engaged. It is definitely a thriller and I liked both Nina and Martha, two women brought together by a liar and thief. I especially loved Ash, the unreliable character who was the most believable of them all. Ash is Nina's daughter who had moved home from University to recover from mental health struggles and was grieving over the loss of her father who was pushed into an oncoming train. Living alone with her mother, a new love interest comes into their lives and seems a little too good to be true. As Ash digs into Nick Radcliffe's background we begin to get the details that make him the perfect character to hate. With lots of twists and turns we are provided the hints and details that bring Nina, Martha, Amanda, Tara, Emma, and Jessica together.

I found it to be an entertaining read that kept me going long after I should have gone to bed. Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy.

Lisa Unger’s Close Your Eyes and Count to 10 is a thriller and adventurous novel. A famous adventurer named Maverick Dillan, hosts an ultimate hide and seek game and the winner will earn a $1 million dollar prize. All of the are social media influencers, and they gather on Falcao Island. The event becomes a true test of survival

The premise for the book is intriguing. There are multiple point of views which at times was tough to follow —perhaps even too many POVs. I felt that the book didn’t really have a flow and struggled to read it. I love Lisa Unger books and really wanted to like it more.

I always love Lisa Jewell's books! Perfectly suspenseful, keeps you hooked! Jaw dropping, with a story line that keeps you at the edge of your seat. I kept questioning what was going on and I wasn't able to predict! Great book!

Nick Radcliffe is proficient at juggling his busy life. Oozing with charm and charisma, Nick knows how to manipulate to get what he wants. To others, he is the picture of devotion and dedication. But as his deceptions grow more and more outlandish, Ash knows something fishy is going on. After discovering clues, she and Jane investigate his background and what they discover is shocking. Ash's mom lost her husband a year ago and is moving on with Nick. But she's not the only one who is besotted with him. He is besotted with himself, too.. People like him could use an app to track numerous lies.

The multiple points of view and timelines are written well, as is the story itself. What worked less for me is the predictability of the novel and the implausibility of several of the characters. However, it is still taut with suspense and kept me riveted. There is more here than the mystery and I enjoyed my time as a fly on the wall soaking up the atmosphere.

The ARC was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I have read several of Lisa Jewell's novels over the years, and was excited to receive the ARC of "Don't Let Him In". The story revolves around the lives of a recent widow, Nina, her daughter, Ash, a woman named Martha, and Nick, who happens to be a sociopath.

Not gonna lie, this book felt very disjointed from the very beginning. We didn’t get much time with any narrator as the chapters were pretty short, so switching around in three different perspectives was confusing — especially when one was in the past. This did get a little easier over time for me, as I began to recognize their "voices." .

I felt like I knew early on what was happening, and had trouble reconciling that the female characters did not know. The book portrayed deception, manipulation and narcissism fairly well, but I had trouble believing Nick was that slick. I was frustrated by the fact the women were so blind to his machinations.

All things considered, I found it to be an average read. I give it 3-stars.

Very entertaining and suspenseful. I could not put it down! I highly recommend this book, which I think is this author’s best yet.

Lisa Jewell’s Don't Let Him In is a dark, twisting thriller that pulls you into its tangled web of secrets and deception. With the shifting perspectives and alternating timelines, the novel keeps you hooked as you piece together the connections.

Paddy Swann’s sudden death leaves his wife, Nina, and daughter, Ash, reeling. As they navigate their grief, their lives intertwine with other women, each hiding painful secrets. Nick, an old friend of Paddy’s, only adds to the mystery. The revelations about manipulation and charm unfold gradually, leading to shocking twists.

The complex storytelling can feel overwhelming at times with so many characters making appearances, but once the pieces fall into place, the tension is gripping. Fast-paced chapters that always keep jumping between characters and timelines make it a true page-turner with a satisfying conclusion. A compelling, immersive read. It was chaotic yet engrossing. One of my favorite Lisa Jewell's to date!

I absolutely loved this book—it’s yet another brilliant addition to Lisa Jewell’s incredible body of work. I was hooked from the very first page, completely drawn into the intricately woven lives of Nina, Ash, and Martha. The narrative was layered with suspense, heartbreak, and moments of unexpected connection, which kept me glued to the story. I felt the grief and confusion of Nina and Ash as they tried to move forward after Paddy’s death, only to have their lives upended again by Nick’s sudden reappearance and the mystery surrounding the lighter. I was fascinated by the dynamic between the characters, particularly the tension that grew as secrets began to unravel. Martha’s storyline added another level of emotional depth. I sympathized with her struggles and admired her resilience as she sought to take control of her life despite mounting challenges. The way the author brought these women’s worlds together was masterful, and I loved the shocking twists that kept me guessing until the very end.

As always, the author’s writing was vivid and evocative, making me feel like I was right there with the characters, experiencing their joys, fears, and uncertainties. The blend of family drama, suspense, and mystery was perfectly balanced, and I couldn’t put the book down.

This was a gripping and unforgettable read that will stay with me for a long time. If you’re a fan of Lisa Jewell, you’re in for a treat—you won’t be disappointed!

Lisa Jewell knows how to write a page turner. Wealthy widows are charmed and fleeced by a handsome con man. I could not stop reading.

Thank you, Atria Books, and Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book. I highly recommend it.

I love Lisa Jewell books, she is one of my favorite authors, so I may be bias. I believe the characters in this story are suppose to upset us, as women we know we should see and react to red flags. This novel shows that when you're in it, your brain will find anyway to ignore those red flags. A great portrayal of a toxic mentally ill man.

Lisa Jewell writes the best domestic suspense, and she's penned another hit with Dont Let Him In. The story starts off a bit confusing, but the confusion is necessary for the story to unfold perfectly, and it does. Everything comes together in a satisfying ending.

If you devoured the Dirty John podcast/TV show, you’ll plow through this book like I did (and also, Connie Britton could totally play Martha). I was trapped on a plane delayed on the tarmac for hours and yet I can honestly say I was thrilled because I got to finish the last 60% of this book in one sitting.

Ash and her mother Nina are mourning the loss of Ash’s father Paddy Swann when out of the woodwork comes the handsome restauranter Nick Ratcliff (I was picturing silver fox Pierce Brosnan).

In another picturesque village Martha’s husband Al is always away for work. He can never seem to respond to texts and money seems to always be out of reach…

This is my seventh Lisa Jewell book, it’s not my favorite one, but it is in the top three. I enjoyed the quick chapters and how Jewell is somehow able to weave an incredibly complex web and yet I never felt lost. I found the pace a little slower than some of her other books but as always, the last chapter/epilogue had me in a daze.

An extremely detail oriented and highly successful conman gets the best of a myriad of women, until the daughter of one of his would-be victims puts an end to all his tricks.

I strongly disliked this book when I read it many, many years ago. You may have heard of it? It's called The Girl on the Train. From basically chapter two of this hot pile of mess, I could tell this was pretty much the same novel with all the same tropes-several women are duped by the same man until suddenly, someone is bright enough to see him for who he really is. None of his felt truly suspenseful to me because at every turn, I felt I knew exactly what was going to happen. Only for my hunches to be proven 100% correct. Even the final "reveal" in this book's epilogue was not the least bit surprising! I honestly should have just DNFed this nonsense, but after reading and really enjoying None of This is True, I just had such high hopes that some redeeming quality was awaiting me. Joke's on me! Happy April Fools' I guess?
