I liked this one but it wasn’t my favorite of hers. I was entertained throughout, but I was also rolling my eyes a little bit wondering if all of the women were truly that gullible. Overall, a quick, engaging read.

Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this title to read and give my honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
Lisa Jewell has done it again. She is master of writing a suspenseful mystery. Of keeping her reader hanging on until the very end, needing to know how it all came to be. It's so hard to review a mystery, though, without giving away the plot and how it works out.
Jewell tells a story like no other. I loved the different points of view (there are three of them) in this one. It was fun to watch the POVs switch around, getting the story from the different characters. And it was great to watch the slow unraveling of the villain in this story. The villain who thought he was above all and would never get caught. His point of view truly showed how very unhinged he was. There was so much gaslighting in this book it was sometimes hard to believe it was happening and the victims couldn't see what was right in front of them. But love will certainly twist your perception!
The plot was totally engaging for this one. And the pacing was fast and easy. I loved the short chapters and the realistic plot.
I will say one thing, I was totally confused by the time line when I first started reading. It wasn't until about 25% in that I realized how the book was structured with the before and afters. Once I saw that, and the timelines began to move along and merge, it made much more sense.
Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It was a bit predictable, and there was less mystery than her other books have given me, but it was nice to watch that mystery build and pretty much know what was going on! I would say I'd put this title up there with my favorites from her in the past. I don't think there is a book Jewell will write that I won't want to read. If you're looking for a slowly unraveling mystery with twists and turns that are unpredictable, pick this one up. Looking forward to more from her in the future!

This was my favorite Lisa Jewell novel!
A recently widowed Nina receives a thoughtful gift from Nick, a past colleague of her husband, and embarks on a romance with him. Martha, a happily married mother, is beginning to wonder about her husband’s job that involves so much travel. Ash, Nina’s daughter, grows suspicious of her mother’s new relationship and begins unraveling Nick’s mysterious past and learns much more than she initially imagined.
I really enjoyed the slow build of this book and the duel perspectives alongside multiple timelines. The character development was a good depth while leaving space for questions to develop. The characters were relatable and interesting and most were likable.
This was a solid psychological thriller that I struggled to put down and I found it intriguing right to the very end.
Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books and the author for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a little slow to start off but it picked up and I got into the book more. I wasn’t a fan of the alternating timelines. I enjoyed the ending so I went up to a 3 stars but it was really hard to get through.

This is going to be THE thriller of the summer.
Don’t Let Him In had everything I’m looking for in a thriller. The short chapters kept me turning the pages, the villain of the story was especially villain-y and there were lots of twists and turns throughout to keep my interest.
If I had any critique, the ending was a hair predictable and I was expecting one more big twist. Still with that being said, I still was on the edge of my seat to the very last page.
This will be a perfect beach read, perfect to get out of a reading slump or just a general fun twisty read with a character you are going to love to hate!

“Don’t Let Him In” is @lisajewelluk’s newest novel and, while I finished the ARC I was generously gifted by @netgalley and @atriabooks weeks ago, I held off on posting my review until closer to the publication date: June 24, 2025.
Lisa Jewell 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 delivers something dark, twisty, and compulsively readable — and her latest is no exception. While it wasn’t my absolute favorite of hers, it still kept me turning pages faster than Nick Radcliffe changes identities.
Nick is 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 guy — charming, magnetic, always shows up when you're most vulnerable... and leaves nothing but chaos in his wake. We’ve all met a Nick. Maybe dated one. Maybe thought, “this could never happen to me.” Well. It could. It might’ve. 😬
Things I liked:
✨ The suspense — classic Jewell, unputdownable.
✨ The slow unraveling of Nick's lies — horrifyingly relatable.
✨ A character study in narcissism and self-loathing (Nick is a slime ball, but a fascinating one).
Things I didn’t:
👎 The tired trope of using mental illness to dismiss a woman’s gut instinct.
👎 The plot got a bit repetitive — too many lies, not enough new layers.
Still, if you’re into stories that blend domestic noir with “John Tucker Must Die” energy, this one's for you. Just remember: when a man seems too perfect... he probably is.

So, this new book by Lisa Jewell is different from her other books. It's loosely inspired by the Tinder Swindler: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tinder_Swindler
Knowing that, this book definitely doesn't have some of the big, unexpected twists that some readers may desire. I don't think I'd call it a slow-burn necessarily, but it builds on itself. That said, this may end up being one of my favorites from Lisa Jewell. This story was a masterclass in building tension. Not only for the many women in Nick's life, but also for Nick himself.
This story alternates between Ash, Martha, and Nick's POVs. We see Ash and Martha's views in real-time, but Nick, we see his past until we arrive at the present day. The author does an excellent job of bringing Nick's personality to life, but also his escalation. I found myself thinking that this is why so-called petty crimes can lead to bigger issues down the line. I also don't generally love multiple POVs, but the author crafts these characters so well that they have very distinct voices and you never become confused as to who is who.
As Ash is digging into Nick, you do almost feel like you're investigating with her character. I enjoyed this, and it felt like I was getting the best of both worlds in terms of great fiction, but also the true crime feeling.
I would highly recommend this book. I love Lisa Jewell's books, but this one was a reminder of her insane talent as a writer. This felt different than her other work, but I loved it even more than I could have expected.

Lisa Jewell has done it again with this thriller! What a page turner! Described as a kaleidoscopic thriller, and I can think of no better way to describe this book.
After Paddy Swann is tragically killed, his wife Nina receives a card from his old friend, Nick Radcliffe. Nick is hoping to connect after her husband’s unexpected death. Nick is charming and raises red flags for Ash, Nina’s daughter, who starts digging into his past after Nina and Nick start to become romantically involved. She is led to Martha, a florist who is having her own marital troubles. As the storylines intertwine, everything becomes unpredictable and Nina, Martha, and Ash will wish they had heeded the warning: Don’t let him in.
This book was such a wild ride. Right when you think it couldn’t get any more crazy, it does! It’s a typical Lisa Jewell book and I loved it. My only complaint was that the beginning was a little hard to follow but once it got going, it was truly so easy to keep track of all of the characters and plot and such a fast-paced thriller.

A gripping psychological thriller about grief, charm, and dark secrets. When Nina’s husband dies, Nick enters the picture—handsome, kind, and seemingly perfect. But her daughter Ash isn’t convinced. Told from multiple perspectives and timelines, the chaos builds tension until everything snaps into place. Fast-paced, unsettling, and classic @lisajewelluk . Fans won’t be disappointed. 👏📖

Lisa has become one of my favorite authors, and she’s shown why again in this new twisty suspenseful read.
The seemingly multiple POVs, the multiple timelines, and how stories seem to crossover makes this read a bit confusing at first (which is what makes it hard to stick with at the beginning) - but hang in there! Because it gets SO GOOD.
I say this often about a good author, in my opinion of course: if they can create characters that make you have strong feelings - they are doing a good job. Whether those feelings are positive or negative is irrelevant. They hit the mark if they make you feel something through their writing to get your emotions to immerse you into the story they are spinning around you. Lisa nailed it with this one. You will be frustrated with several characters… it’s worth the frustration though!
I definitely recommend this book for fans of Lisa Jewell, or anyone looking for:
- A suspenseful/thriller read
- Con artist MMC/all the red flags
- Plot twist
- Relatable relationship trouble
Possible triggers:
- mental health
- Psychological abuse/gaslighting/manipulation
- Toxic relationships
- Death/murder

For fans of the Tinder Swindler or the Dirty John series a charismatic conman reinvents himself to hide his dirty deeds and past wives. Told from multiple POVs and interweaving timelines this pacing will work for many. Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for an advanced copy for a honest review.

Dark & twisty. Multiple POVs and timelines. Nina, a grieving widow and her new mysterious man. Martha, a small-town florist and her frequently absent husband. As their lives intersect -> Secrets unravel. Shocking truths. Tensions build. Who can be trusted?

Wowow!! I started this book yesterday and just finished it now, I literally could not put it down! I've been a big fan of Lisa Jewell's work for years, but this one has become an instant favourite! This book was so fast-paced, with short chapters, dual timelines, and multiple povs, and a story that I just had to get to the bottom of!!
I really think that with this book, you want to go in as blind as possible so I don't want to say more. If you're a fan of a good mystery-thriller, this should be at the top of your list this summer!!

‘Don’t Let Him In’ follows the story of multiple women and families who are all victims of the same man. As we are introduced to each character, the story is a little hard to follow, but by about 40% of the way in I was having a hard time putting the book down. Everything in me wanted to see the women finally gather all the facts and win. The Epilogue had me audibly gasping - it’s worth the wait !
Thank you for the opportunity of an eARC and I am leaving this review willingly.

Who doesn’t love a new thriller from one of the best? Lisa Jewell is no stranger to writing thrillers with twist after twist, and Don’t Let Him In is her newest release. Written in multiple perspectives, she tells the story of many unconnected families torn apart when they let one man into their lives. He’s Nick, he’s Alistair…well, who is he? Ash is worried about her mother moving on so soon after her father’s death and things about this new man aren’t adding up. He’s too perfect, and Ash finds more than she bargains for.
No one can say that Lisa Jewell cannot write. Her stories are well composed with clear prose. I found this one a little harder to get into because right off the bat are three different POVs and it’s overwhelming. It finds it footing pretty quickly, but I didn’t love this one as much as I’d hoped. I wanted more twists, more of those “oh my god” moments. Don’t Let Him In is simple, not hard to follow once you know the characters, and still has you hoping that justice will be served, all signs of a well composed novel!
Thank you Netgalleyfor an ARC of this novel!

Lisa Jewell is a master of suspense, and while Don't Let Him In doesn’t follow the typical thriller format of her other novels, it still delivers plenty of tension. Nick is one of the most unlikable characters you’ll ever come across, and his erratic nature makes it a challenge to keep up with him.

This book was the equivalent of a horror movie where you want to scream at the screen for the teens to not go into the house, knowing the killer is going to be there! I wanted to shake all these women that got scammed in this book. The book focuses on multiple people points of views, including the man who is the scammer and some of his victims. I will say at times It was hard to keep track of all the characters but in the end it was just a really good book about a messed up person.
Thank you to Netgalley and to the publishers for allowing me to read this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC.
I’ve read several Lisa Jewell and have been generally impressed with the twists and turns! Her newest book, Don’t Let Him In, was creepy and off putting in the best way. It didn’t have as many twists as I usually like, but it had a really consistent aura of unease and tension that I loved. That said, it had an intentionally confusing start that I found to be too much, and far more characters than felt necessary. Either way, definitely recommend!

I almost didn't finish Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell, not because it was a book that I did not want to read but everyday that I was reading it my blood pressure went up more and more.
The main character of this story is so loathsome that it is hard to read at times. Nick has reached out to Nina Swann who has recently lost her husband in a horrific accident. Her daughter Ash, after meeting Nick believes that he is just too good to be true and that there is something off about him. She reaches out to her dad's ex-girlfriend to find out more about Nick since he says that he knew her father back in the day. Together they go down a rabbit hole that they did not expect to find.
The book is well written mixing up present day with insertions starting 4 years in the past that explain Nick's past and expands more on his character. I don't want to spoil the book but Nick has a trail of woman that he has left behind.
He is a master manipulator and his life is full of lies so much so that I really wanted him to get what he deserved in the end. The twist at the end though is testament to the lengths he would go to get what he wanted.
This is my first Lisa Jewell read and it won't be my last. This was an engaging, psychological thriller that kept me reading late into the night.
Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley who provided me with this ARC for an honest review.

After the death of her beloved husband, Nina Swann unexpectedly connects with Nick Radcliffe—a man who claims to have worked with her late spouse years ago. Much to the dismay of her adult daughter, Ash, Nina and Nick quickly form a romantic bond. But Ash can’t shake the feeling that something about Nick doesn’t add up. Troubled by inconsistencies in his stories, she begins to dig into his past, only to uncover a shocking truth: Nick is a charming con artist. Now, Ash must race to uncover the full extent of his deception and convince her mother that the man she’s falling for isn’t who he claims to be.
This novel follows a manipulative man who preys on women by pretending to be the perfect partner. While the premise is intriguing, I wouldn’t classify it as much of a thriller. In fact, the plot left me confused for a good portion of the book, and the pacing only really picks up more than halfway through. Overall, it’s an enjoyable read, but may fall short for those expecting a dark, twist-filled thriller.
