Twisted and perfectly played, Don’t Let Him In is a gripping thriller that masterfully builds tension and plot like only Lisa Jewell can. Another five star read!

I was really disappointed in this book. It seemed to miss that Lisa Jewell sparkle and captivating characters. I struggle to find a single twist from this book because anything that could have been perceived as a twist was so painfully obvious. Lisa Jewell is one of my favorite authors but this book just didn’t have the same magic.

Lisa Jewell fans won’t be disappointed.

Ash’s father was murdered a year ago. Then one of her Dad’s old friends connects with Ash’s mom, Nina. There’s just something about Nick that she doesn’t like.

Martha’s husband Al is always disappearing. Work pulls him out of town for days on end and often at a moment’s notice. She’s left alone with their baby girl and her boys from her first marriage. She loves her husband, he’s practically perfect, except for the disappearing.

Having the antagonist’s POV is a unique feature, I didn’t always love being in his head. It’s giving Joe Goldberg, lite on the murder.

This would be a fun book club read !

Thanks to Atria Books and NetGalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.

THIS WAS UNREAL!! Lisa Jewell has done it again with her most detestable main character yet!! My Instagram page @nelliesreads has my full review but overall 10/10 recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for review.

So. I'm a longtime fan of Lisa Jewell. This latest outing...was a struggle for me. I am not a fan of what I call 'domestic thrillers' (is that an official phrase? I have no clue). It took me 67% of the way (I looked at this on my Kindle) to finally get interested in the story. The first 2/3 of the book were very slow and I just hated the main male character and all of the dumb women he conned. The final third was better, with finally some action and resolution. But this still wasn't a favorite.

Lisa Jewell can never write a bad book, I'm convinced. Was this my favorite? No. Was I still up late reading? Yes.

I absolutely loathed the main character of Nick (or any of the names he went by). He was written so well as to make you hate him with a passion. I enjoyed the semi-unreliable narrator of Ash as she worked to figure out what the deal was with Nick before he destroyed her mother's life. The back and forth timelines and multiple POV just made this already enjoyable book hard to put down.

Every new book that Lisa Jewell puts out just gets better and better. This story is masterfully crafted and kept me on my toes the entire time!

Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewel, is a well-written enjoyable read. The story's setup takes some time and is a bit complex as it switches between timelines and POVs, but this intricacy adds depth to the narrative.

As the story unfolds, I can see the level of manipulation and denial required to make the plot work, making it easy to imagine this scenario happening in real life. The male main character is quite the con man, and his actions and persuasion kept me engaged throughout.

When all the moving pieces finally come together, the ending is quite satisfying and wraps up the story beautifully. Don't Let Him In is an engaging and captivating read that showcases Lisa Jewel's talent.

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the advanced reader copy.

Lisa Jewell is kind of hit or miss for me, but I was excited to read this one. It started out really good and I liked the idea of the book but it fell a bit flat for me. I kept waiting for a twist, but it never came. I the middle of the book was a bit slow and felt very predictable. Not the worst book I’ve ever read, but not sure I would recommend it as a favourite!

There’s a reason Lisa Jewell is an auto-buy for me. This fast-paced thriller was very satisfying & the topic is so timely. Highly recommend, especially if you need some escapism!

This is by far my favorite of Lisa Jewell's books! Twisty, fast paced, and just an overall enjoyable read. Nick was so easy to hate and fun to read. Thanks Net Galley for the ARC. This is definitely one you don't want to miss!!

Unfortunately this might be my least favorite Jewell book. I found the first person and third person chapters to be extremely confusing. I didn’t like the fact that from the very first chapter we know who kills Paddy. Also, I didn’t find anything thrilling about this book.

Fantastic read. I could not put it down. So many characters involved. I got to know each of them. The suspense kept my on the edge. The ending was perfect.

I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review. This is my second Lisa Jewell book (first was None of This is True via audio) and am definitely adapting to her style. For this particular novel, the change in fonts did help (Slightly) in keeping up between the current day and flashbacks; however, the various aliases of Simon Smith were rather confusing. I was trying my hardest to keep up. While I liked how she wove in the Swann family into the overall narrative - in multiple ways - I still felt like the overall plot, especially the MMC scamming people/abandoning wives and kids, in multiple scenarios within a train ride away over the span of 30 years and never being caught was pretty preposterous. Toward the end when Martha thinks to herself "How...had she lived for four years with a man who claimed to have a job but never took a business call, never introduced her to a colleague, never took her to a work function, a man who went on business trips that require him to switch off his phone for days on end, a man who claimed to have severe ADHD yet managed to hold down an important job, garner respect, be given promotions. How did she not ask more questions? Push him? Corner him?" That's exactly what I thought the ENTIRE TIME I READ THIS BOOK and by the time we go to like the sixth women in his scamming spree, I was quite over it. And let's talk about Amanda (aka the first wife). The fact that she disappeared for four years after all that craziness - despite leaving her after faking his death and scamming her out of money, abandoning her with her two young kids and then showing up 20 years later with all (seemingly forgiven)? And by seemingly, waiting another FOUR YEARS (without her children or grandchild, mind you) to get her revenge? I think its too far-fetched, I'm afraid. I'm going to give this one 3 stars for creativity and effort - and general respect for Lisa Jewell.

First off, holy cow. The ending and epilogue was perfect for the roller coaster of a story/life of Nick Radcliffe. Lisa Jewell kept me on my toes the last part of the book because I truly did not how it was going to end for Nick. Who was I going to trust? Were there going to be even more women and victims of this extravagant scheme Nick was keeping up with?

We get these multiple timelines, storylines, and even POV’s but it was never confusing and had me constantly turning the page because I needed to know what crazy connection was going to happen next. The further we got along in the story pieces finally start to fit and make sense and the epilogue really solidified what a great book this is. The only thing I am left to wonder is why Nick did what he did to Ash that made her have her mental breakdown. I wish there was more.

Another jaw-dropping thriller from Lisa Jewell. The antagonist of this book was so vile and evil, I wanted punch him. It was like shouting at your TV when the kids go after whatever is making that noise instead of running away and you are itching with tension because you know what's behind the door. The story follows Nina and Martha and Nina's daughter Ash. It kept me on the edge of my seat and just might be my new favorite Jewell book.

Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell is a book you will read in one day, two days tops! A restaurant owner named Paddy Swann is killed when he is shoved into the path of a moving train. His wife Nina and daughter Ash are devastated. They receive a note from an old friend of Paddy's who knew him in the early days. When a second note arrives along with a lighter they are interested and want to know more. Nina starts to date "Nick" but Ash has suspicions right away. Something just seems off. You can't really say much more without giving something away so I will just say you must read this book!
