Is Nick Radcliff too good to be true? Nina's daughter, Ash, thinks maybe he is. Is Martha's husband, Allistair, cheating on her? What is really going on in the lives of these characters and how are they intertwined? Lisa Jewell creates another suspenseful tale through overlapping timelines and perspectives as we find out the truth.

Anyone who knows me also knows that I love Lisa Jewell. I had high hopes for this book, as I’ve loved her others, but I was a little disappointed with this one. There was so much going on at times, with so many characters, that I found myself getting lost multiple times while reading this book. This book wasn’t for me; however, I’m sure other readers enjoyed it!

I’m still thinking about all that happened in this book. At first the multiple characters and timeline got me confused but then the story picks up and it all started to make sense. Nick is just the most awful narcissistic person it’s amazing how the women fell for him. Ash had her issues but she knew something wasn’t right so she persevered in proving who Nick really was and how dangerous. Looking forward to the next book from Jewell.

Thank you @netgalley and @atriabooks for a copy of the book!

Where are my Dateline, 20/20, true crime, the husband/boyfriend did it girlies? This is your book!

This is a bingeable thriller that will hook you right in. Creep factor? High. I guessed very few of the twists and turns along the way. "Nick" is a character that you'll love to hate and want to see him get everything he deserves.

The only thing keeping this one from a five star for me was the ending. I wanted something different. If you've read it, my DMs are open to discuss!

I reccommend print for this one. With jumping timelines and lots of characters, it may be harder to follow on audio.

Bottom line: Highly entertaining thriller. Well worth your time!

"Don't Let Him In" presents a compelling premise, particularly in its antagonist. The villain in this story is exceptionally well-crafted, designed to truly draw readers in and make them invested in his eventual downfall. This character is undoubtedly a highlight, providing a strong anchor for the narrative's darker elements and a clear focal point for the reader's emotional investment, especially as we root for the women involved. However, the novel's structure, while potentially intentional, poses a significant challenge. I found myself having a hard time keeping the intersecting storylines straight. While this narrative complexity might have been a deliberate choice to build and maintain suspense, it often led to moments of confusion rather than heightened tension.

I like Lisa Jewell and typically at least find one of the characters in her books compelling. This one was incredibly flat and gave far too much voice to the antagonist, who also was not particularly interesting - just upsetting. The plot was really repetitive (man does something bad, woman sees something is wrong but is gaslit and backs off, rinse and repeat.) If anything, it felt a bit like an afterschool special trying to teach us about relationship abuse - but in a really sloppy, predictable way.

No plot twists surprised me and no one really grew or changed throughout the story. It wasn't an offensive read, but I don't think I would pick up another of Jewell's books if this were my first (I promise she's written much better!)

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This one had me hooked from the start! Don’t Let Him In is classic Lisa Jewell—dark, suspenseful, and full of secrets you need to unravel. The tension builds perfectly, and just when you think you’ve figured it out… nope. If you like thrillers that keep you guessing and characters with messy, complicated lives, this one’s for you.

This is my new favorite Lisa Jewell book! This is a thriller about 3 different women (actually more, although we don’t get much of the story about the others) with connections to the same man. There are different timelines and different perspectives, which was difficult to follow at first, but once I adjusted I thought it was brilliantly done. I thought the story was unique and I was fully invested in seeing how it played out. I love stories with dysfunctional families, and this has a few of them. Overall a great read!

DNF 46 percent… This book was not for me it just felt like endless scenes of women getting screwed over by the same man. There were so many characters I kept getting mixed up who was with who especially with the time jumps. Usually I am a fan of this author but this one was not for me I had to restart it three times but really wasn’t enjoying it. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

This book was extremely frustrating. I feel like it could have been told in a way that was much more mysterious, or didn't make every single woman in it look like an absolute idiot because of a guy. The twist wasn't a twist, since it was obvious from Chapter 3, and I just feel like the stereotypes it perpetuated in the female main characters were absolutely not worth the ending. No thanks.

Love Lisa Jewell, she never disappoints. She is an automatic buy for me and cannot wait for the next book. She is a queen of twists and turns. She knows how to keep your attention.

4⭐️ | 1.5🌶️

I was super lucky to receive an ARC of Don’t Let Him In from @atriabooks (thank you!) and the second the audiobook dropped, I jumped right in. This was my first Lisa Jewell read and now I fully understand the hype. Suspenseful, sinister, and sneakily addictive.

The story opens after Paddy Swann’s tragic death, with his widow Nina and their daughter Ash trying to move forward. Then along comes Nick- charming, mysterious, maybe a little too smooth, and Nina invites him into their lives. Ash isn’t convinced. Across town, we meet Martha, whose husband Alistair has a habit of disappearing… and who may not be who he says he is. Spoiler: he’s not!

Multiple POVs and timelines kept me on my toes, but once I found the rhythm, I couldn’t stop listening. Ash quickly became my favourite- intuitive and fierce, and the only one seeing through Nick’s mask. Speaking of Nick, his chapters are so unsettling. The narcissism, the manipulation, the way he justifies everything (yikes!). And hearing all that in @richardcarmitage ‘s velvety voice? Chilling in the best way. The full-cast audiobook elevated the entire experience (can we get a screen adaptation already?)

This isn’t a thriller packed with shocking twists, but more of a psychological slow burn that gets under your skin. By the end, I was yelling internally at these women to run while also rooting for their strength.

A gripping first taste of Lisa Jewell for me…safe to say, it won’t be my last.

Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with this one. I've read multiple books by Lisa Jewell and have really enjoyed them. I didn't feel like this was a thriller. There were a lot of characters, and I didn't feel like it was really needed to convey the storyline. It felt SO repetitive. Just the same things over and over, and I kept reading hoping that SOMETHING different would happen! I kept hoping the ending would be worth it, but it was not.

I has such fun tracking Al/Damian/Jonathan/Nick et al. Like always, Lisa Jewel has painted a picture with such detail - the characters, settings, relationships - I felt it all. And oh my gosh how badly I want to go to Paddy’s for seafood!

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, Jewell did an amazing job constructing one of the most narcissistic men out there. He was easy to despise. And honestly, as convoluted as things got at one point, it did keep me interested and wanting to know how it all played out in the end. On the other hand, it did feel rather long and somewhat repetitive at times.

Really enjoyed this book. Once I put it down I found myself thinking about the plot and wanted to read more. You can always count on Lisa jeeel to hook you in!

This one had quite a few characters to keep tracked of and different time lines. Some of the characters and timelines ended up overlapping. We got to be inside the head of the male MC and though it was repetitive at times, it was also entertaining. The level of his deceit was astounding and made a lot of drama. The actual ending was a highlight for me because I definitely wasn't expecting that. Though it wasn't suspenseful, it was well worth the read.

TV-MA for language, violence, and spice

Once the story picked up, I was hooked. The ending had me wanting more as in I’m vengeful person. It was entertaining mystery.

This was an intriguing and riveting read. The characters and situations compel the reader to peel through the pages swiftly to figure out what is happening.

What would you do if your instincts told you one thing and the person you love convinces you of something else?

Lisa Jewell always spins a good tale and keeps you on the edge of your seat. This story is no different. It's full of mysteries and secrets that will keep you in suspense.

Thank you, NetGalley, and Atria Books for the advanced reader's copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m gonna preface this review with the fact that I love this author. Despite the slow burns, i always trust her writing and way of wrapping things up in the end.

Thank you for my copy Atria Books and Simon Audio for the ALC.

𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐛📝:
When Nina’s husband died tragically, she receives a letter from an old friend of her husband’s Nick, who is looking to connect. Nina’s daughter Ash felt something off about Nick, so she digs into his past. Across town, a mother named Martha is married to Alistair and together they have a small child. But lately, Alistair has been disappearing for days at a time. Nina, Ash and Martha form a connection and together realize that things are not what they seem.

𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. I trusted the process, but unfortunately it fell short for me. Right from the get go, there were too many characters and POVs that I was getting so lost I was in a doozy. The audio route might not be what’s best for this book because I just couldn’t keep up with all the characters that way and the jumping timelines didn’t help either. The audio did have a full cast though, which is always great. However, I really didn’t know what was going on half the time and while the events that had unraveled was wild, I just feel like I had simply lost interest and just wanted to quickly find out how it ended. Which fell flat for me as well. I’m sad because i really do love this author and her slow burns, but this one just really missed the mark for me.
