2.75 ⭐️ and maybe that’s even generous.
First, thank you netgalley, atria books, and Lisa jewell for the advance copy.

This was very slow and boring and insanely predictable. Very little happens, and all of the “shocks” were not shocking in the slightest. Maybe Lisa jewell just isn’t for me. I generally try not to think much when reading thrillers so that I get the full twist experience, but man there was not a single surprise in this entire book. Went exactly how I thought it would. And calling this a thriller is a stretch, it’s not thrilling.

At least it was semi short, although 10 days on a short thriller is very very long for me. I liked the multiple pov and multiple timelines. Just next time add in something shocking and interesting.

I was debating 2 or 3 stars for this, but the ending at least didn’t completely piss me off like I thought it would. At least it didn’t get the none of this is true ending.

Lisa Jewell is one of my favorite authors and Don’t Let Him In is her latest book. After Nina lost her husband unexpectedly, a stranger got in touch with her telling her he used to work with her late husband, when they were younger. He asked if he could visit and talk about her husband and the times they worked together. To her adult daughter Ash’s dismay, he sticks around and him and her mother are getting close. Ash doesn’t really trust him but can’t really say why. This book had many POWs and was sometimes hard to keep up with them all, but regardless I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to Netgalley for this arc.

Oh my word! This book was gripping, intense, edgy…you name it. Lisa Jewell has blown me away with her writing in this one. Loved every page and couldn’t put it down. Such a good plot, full of characters that are engaging and I found myself very invested in them.. There were points I felt like screaming out loud for these women to WAKE UP and to stop allowing this guy to take from them over and over. I would highly recommend this one to others who love a good psychological thriller.

Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book. This one was just ok for me. Couldn’t take the back and forth between characters and timelines. Usually love this author but not this time.

5/5 exciting from the first page to the very last. Pace was great, story moved along well. There are a lot of characters and that was hard to follow at times. I just love Lisa Jewells writing style. Interesting and easy to read.

I LOVE Lisa Jewell books. This one was an exception though...This was not a thriller nor a mystery. This was a predictable domestic/family drama featuring a con man and a bunch of manipulated women. It jumps abruptly between several perspectives which was made jarring by the different points of view (two in third person and in the present, one in first person and in the past). The women featured were all so similar that it was hard to keep track of which was which.

It was very easy to connect the dots from the start and figure out what the guy was doing to the women and how. There were almost no surprises the entire book and I didn't feel like it was thrilling at all--the ending felt inevitable and not very satisfying. I spent the entire book learning about how the man was scamming the women and getting annoyed by how easily they were scammed (to be fair I don't know if I personally would have seen through it).

Also the whole thing with Ash getting diagnosed with <spoiler>borderline personality disorder because of the man felt super unnecessary and infuriating. Personality disorders are not to be taken lightly as they are a huge part of a person and prevalent throughout their lives. Sure, she seemed like a creepy obsessed stalker, but that didn't seem like it met criteria for BPD. Unless it was some commentary about how personality disorders are sometimes misdiagnosed, I don't see the purpose of the storyline. </spoiler>

Overall, this was the first time I felt so let down by Jewell. I really enjoyed None of This is True last year and that prompted me to read some of her backlog, all of which I was thoroughly entertained by. This feels like a strange outlier in her catalogue of books.

Thank you to NetGalley + Atria Books for the ARC!

Lisa Jewell has done it again. This story is chilling. After losing her husband, Nina is pursued by a man who says he knew her late husband when they were young. But he might not be all he seems to be, and there are others who have been fooled by his charms in the past. I really enjoyed this one. It was a slow burn, and the. Suddenly it was a freight train of revelations.

Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books! WOW! This Lisa Jewell book had SO many layers!! Overwhelmed at first with the characters and timelines, but as more about each character and timeframes were revealed the more you realized how tangled the web was!! I continuously found myself on the edge of my seat! I wish I could have jumped into the book to give the characters advice! LOL I couldn’t read fast enough! Jaw-dropping twists all the way through the epilogue! You’re gonna want to grab this book as soon as it hits shelves!!

Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell is a psychological thriller about three women dealing with relationships with someone who may or may not be conning them. It begins when a supposed old friend of a Nina's late husband becomes a feature in her life, to the chagrin and concern of her adult daughter Ash. The story then follows the steps Ash takes, and the partnership formed with an old ex of her late father's, to get to the bottom of who this man is. I couldn't put it down! Lisa Jewell is so good at developing characters, and kept me wondering all throughout - was there another "bad guy" in the mix? I don't want to give away too much, but I highly recommend if you are looking for a book that will keep you enthralled from the first page until the last.

I love Lisa Jewell’s books. I liked this book, but it was easy to figure out what the plot was early on, I did enjoy the ending. It was perfect in my opinion!

I loved this book!! I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down. I had a gut feeling about one thing, but love how I kept being shocked. Everything unfolded so well towards the end and a much deserved epilogue!! I love reading this author!

This book kept me in the edge of my seat. I gave never read any other books by Lisa Jewell, but now I want to read them all. The look into the mind of a psychopath was eye-opening. The powerful way the women all came together was realistic. It makes me wonder how many oriole really lead these double lives. I highly recommend this book!!

This book hit close to home. I dated someone for over a year who conned men out of thousands. The book was a bit confusing going back and forth in time and the main male characters different aliases but in the end it all came together. I liked the short chapters and reference to ADHD as I work with a lot of ADHD patients.

Lisa Jewell has crafted a wickedly clever read that pulls you in and never lets go. Patty, a restauranteur gets pushed in front of a train. His wife and daughter receive a letter from an old friend of Patty’s who wants to express his condolences and return an old keepsake. Martha lives with her second husband Al. Al works all the time, but they never seem to have enough money. The way that Lisa Jewell weaves the lives of these three women together is fascinating. The writing is incredible. I don’t know how Lisa Jewell seems to keep putting out these amazing novels. This one is a must read. You won’t regret it.

I really enjoyed this book, just like a couple other of her books! Liked the premise a lot, I just wish I had more info on Jane - she seemed to just be too conveniently helpful for no reason.

Lisa Jewell has always been hit or miss for me. Don’t Let Him In was a great story, but had a few too many characters and the timeline jumped around a bit too much. It was an interesting book and I did want to know what happened.

I thought this story was engaging with a good amount of suspense. There were some surprising twists, but other parts of the plot felt very unrealistic. The middle was slow and I felt myself getting frustrated with Nina and Martha. It is a quick, entertaining read and perfect if you’re looking for something fast-paced.

Another compelling thriller from Lisa Jewell. Doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's typically compelling and I'm sure it will be a hit!
