Some characters in books cannot be liked.

Ash at 26 years old can see clearly that there’s something odd about Nick who recently started dating her widowed mother, Nina. It’s hard for her to watch how easily her mother -- who has always made smart decisions -- is now easily overcome by his charm. Ash notices that some things aren’t making sense about him. That’s when she becomes somewhat of a back-door investigator.

This psychological thriller is complicated at first like going into an abyss and then after a few chapters, everything makes sense and moves quickly. It’s dark and shows a weak part of humans. Some parts are repeated to create a good flow and reinforce what’s happening. When you start to read this, it’s all the way to the end for your own sanity.

My thanks to Atria Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book with an expected release date of June 24, 2025.

I always love anything by Lisa Jewell! This was so juicy, reminiscent of Dirty John but much darker! A conman charms his way into the lives of many, many women, with disastrous results! So good!

I really enjoyed this book especially the ending. The final scene was just a punch in the gut for the main character. Perfect ending.

Another win for Lisa Jewell! This book had it all and I was here for every second. I could not put this page turner down. The delicate web Jewell weaved in this one is a master class of writing. Buckle up because this one is great!

I feel like this could have been so much easier to follow if each person from the past that he targeted has their own chapter. Intertwining them into the multiple story lines with so many women just made it impossibly hard to follow. Jumping timelines amongst every storyline also makes this impossibly confusing.

Lisa Jewell is a staple in the mystery/thriller world but she’s been changing her style first with None of This is True and now again with Don’t Let Him In.

I’m not going to provide a synopsis and this is best to go in blind. There are three different point of views used across multiple timelines and because of this fact it took me a while to get into the story. In fact, I just couldn’t believe that this was Jewell’s writing. It was so clunky, with incredibly short sentences and repetitive use of nouns and adjectives. There were alot of copouts as well that I felt such as using mental health as a reason to not believe someone or make them an unreliable narrator.

That being said, once I reached the 60% mark things really started to pick up and I couldn’t put it down. There was still one POV that I groaned at and wanted to (but didn’t)skim through, however I do think it was a neat tool used by Jewell.

However, I think 60% of the book is too far in for any action to occur. If it wasn’t an author I loved so much I probably would have DNF’d it before then.

This is a far cry from her other works in the sense it’s more a psychological story and a character dive into the mind of a narcissist than it is a mystery or thriller like her other books. I’m very interested to hear what other readers think.

Thank you NetGalley, Lisa Jewell, and Atria Books for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I was a little let down by this one, but I think a big reason of that is my own fault. I went into this one expecting a big mystery, but it’s more of a detailed look at a con man and everyone that he hurts. It’s dark with some twists and turns, but I also found it kind of confusing at times keeping the characters and timelines straight. I will say, though, that I ended up reading it in two days because it’s very fast-paced and entertaining. Just not what I expected! If you’re looking for a book that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat, this is the one for you.

Though predictable, this was a page tuner. I liked the female characters and was intrigued by the depths of deception from the central male character.

I feel like I have two moods on Lisa Jewell books… I either LOVEEEE them or a HATEEEE them. This one fell in the purgatory in between. I didn’t love it, that’s for sure, but it had some interesting and exciting twists (hello epilogue) that were super unexpected. I liked Ash a lot and related to her biiiiig time in so many ways. The quantity and “value added” of secondary and tertiery characters however was a bit lost on me and I felt like it wa a bit hard to follow sometimes. I liked how unique the storyline was and it was definitely unlike other thrillers I’ve read, so in that case it’s a win. Pick this up if you are a Jewell fan, but otherwise… meh.

Thank you, NetGalley, Atria Books and Lisa Jewell for this ARC..

It took me awhile to get into this book since it felt like there were so many characters being introduced at one time. It kind of felt overwhelming until I was able to put together who was who and that a con man was involved with multiple names. The plot was interesting and I kept thinking Lifetime movie as I read the book. I felt for all of his victims and it is kind of scary how a woman who is looking for love could fall in love with a con man. I know we may have blinders when it comes to the person that we loved but there were so many red flags with this man. I wanted to yell at these women and ay "open your eyes"! Some even had children trying to protect their moms but they weren't listening. That was kind of upsetting, believing a strange man over your own children?!

There were 80 chapters in this book, but they were short chapters which I appreciated. There didn't seem to be a lot of fluff information like some books with a lot of chapters seem to have. I will admit though that after awhile I kind of wanted the book to be over. It wasn't cause the book was dragging but I wanted to know how it would end! I have mixed feelings about the ending and feel I need to go back and read some parts again to make it make sense! Again, I will stress that it had a Lifetime movie vibe and I do love my Lifetime movies.

Lisa Jewell is one of my favorite thriller authors and this one really worked for me! This was dark and twisty and really went there. The plot is engaging and keeps you on your toes. This book was a wild ride and something that is harder to review because i don’t want to give absolutely anything away. It’s a book that you want to experience blindly and enjoy the ride. This will be my favorite thriller of 2025 because it is just that good!! 5 freaking stars!

Ash’s world is shattered when their father is killed after being pushed onto train tracks. As her family tries to heal from this tragedy, their mother, Nina, begins seeing a charming man named Nick. But Nick is no ordinary suitor. He’s also Al, Jonathan, Damian, Alistair, Andre (one man with many identities, multiple wives, and a trail of deception spanning years).
A riveting thriller that peels back the layers of a master manipulator while reminding us how much we may not truly know about the people we trust most.

Liss Jewell’s Don't Let Him In is a masterfully crafted thriller that explores grief, deception, and the dark secrets hidden within relationships. From the moment Paddy Swann’s tragic death sets the stage, the novel pulls readers into a labyrinth of intertwining lives, lies, and shocking revelations.
What I like :-
1 Intriguing Premise: The mysterious death of Paddy Swann and the ominous warning to “don’t let him in” immediately sets a suspenseful tone. The lighter sent by Nick Radcliffe acts as a symbolic trigger, unraveling the lives of the three women.
2 Complex Characters: Jewell excels at creating multi-dimensional characters. Nina’s vulnerability, Ash’s suspicion, and Martha’s struggles as a small-town florist and mother are deeply relatable, drawing readers into their individual dilemmas.
3 Interwoven Narratives: The alternating perspectives of Nina, Ash, and Martha add depth and tension, slowly revealing the connections between their lives and the dangerous men around them.
4 Atmospheric Writing: Jewell’s vivid descriptions of the small-town settings and the emotional undercurrents in each scene create a tense, immersive atmosphere.
What I dislike :-
None.
Overall :- Don't Let Him In is a gripping psychological thriller that expertly balances emotional depth with nail-biting suspense. Liss Jewell’s ability to weave multiple storylines into a cohesive and compelling narrative ensures readers are hooked from start to finish. A haunting, twist-filled tale that will leave readers questioning how well they know the people closest to them.
Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for giving me an advance copy.

Paddy Swann’s death sets in play a complicated, twisted plot involving very different women. Paddy’s widow Nina is a successful, wealthy woman mourning her husband’s death when she receives a note and gift from Nick Radcliffe, an old friend of Paddy’s. Nina is soon drawn in by the charismatic Nick upsetting her daughter Amy who does not trust him. Martha is a florist with two sons from a previous marriage and a baby daughter with her new husband Alistair Grey. Hard working Tara’s marriage to Jonathan Trusscot is breaking up due to his spending and unexplained absences. As Amy digs into Nick’s past, she discovers that He, Al and Jonathan have things in common. She needs answers before she or her mother may become victims.

This multilayered, complex mystery/thriller told in several voices is just what you expect from Lisa Jewell. Sympathetic (and unsympathetic) characters quickly become real. As their stories intertwine, the plot quickens. You’ll turn the pages as fast as you can to a totally surprising conclusion. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books and Lisa Jewell for this ARC.

Okay, like, wow—this one totally pulled me in right away. A thriller that’s all about secrets, lies, and, like, super complicated relationships? YES, please! You’ve got this drama-filled trio of women, and OMG, the twists are wild. Every time I thought I knew what was happening, I was all gasp “Wait, WHAT?!”

The multiple POVs kept things spicy, and even though it gets dark (like, seriously dark), the story still manages to be sooo addictive. I flew through it! Some of the characters were a bit, um, eye roll-y (looking at you, Ash), but honestly? It just added to the drama. Plus, the mystery dude? Total nightmare fuel, but in the best way possible.

It’s not the perfect thriller, but it’s juicy, clever, and totally binge-worthy. Four stars and a solid rec for anyone who loves their thrillers twisty and intense!

Big thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. 💕
