Don't Let Him In is both a hot mess and a wild ride. An intense and unsettling domestic thriller. Jewell has effectively written the most detestable antagonist that I have ever read. A liar. A cheat. A complete and total psycho. There are so many characters and overlapping timelines, it almost feels like you're circling the same con which lends to the psychological aspect of feeling conned. I lost count of the twists and just started to expect them, predictable or not, realizing that anything goes and it's not over 'til it's over. Not quite as unhinged as None of This Is True—but close. ★★★ ½

Thank you Atria for my gifted copy!

“The world, she now knows, is not what it seems. Nobody is what they seem. Everything is an illusion.”

I feel like my brain is going to explode. I promise, that’s a good thing. I. Am. Blown. Away.

Lisa Jewell has always been a gem for me (ha!). She rarely misses, and Don’t Let Him In is no exception. I think this might be one of my favorites of hers.

There is a lot going on with this one - so you need to sit down, and focus on the story and the characters. There is so much interlaid in Jewell’s brilliant writing. It’s like these individual puzzle pieces are strategically scattered. You pick them up one by one, piece them together, pick your jaw up off the floor, and continue assembling, moving ever rapidly.

When I finally got to sit with this book uninterrupted, I literally felt like I was chewing up the pages. I *needed* to know what was going to happen next. I *needed* to know if this unhinged, clever sociopath would meet Karma.

I am still reeling from this one. I am going to go to bed with the spins, because it was so intricate and well plotted that I just want to start shouting about it. Read this. Now. So we can shout together.

This was hands down one of my favorite books by Lisa Jewell!! She always does an amazing job giving a great story and providing twists that keep me guessing. While it was clear to see who the con man was in the story Jewell dug into that the story and the characters creating a book I could not put down.

OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!! Once again, Lisa Jewell has outdone herself. This was incredible!!!! The twists. The turns. And then……everything fell into place. However, I did NOT see that ending!!!! WOW!!! I was so excited to see that Lisa Jewell had a book here to request for an ARC and I was even more excited when I saw that I had been approved for it! I love her books, her stories are so creative and for me it all started when I got a copy of "The night she disappeared" in my book of the month and from there I couldn't not buy a book with her name on it. This was the same, I loved it, the twists the turns and the different POVs are classic and just amazing!

I am a major fan of Lisa Jewell and this was just such a classic Lisa Jewell book. I really enjoyed the twists and turns this took. I do feel like there were some loose ends not tied up but I enjoyed all the POV of the different women as well as Nick/Damian/whoever. I thought this was a great take on the scam narrative that seems to be prevalent in true crime lately and I’ll definitely be recommending it!

I'm a Lisa Jewell fan. She has never let me down, I know I'm going to enjoy her books before I start reading them. The book synopsis led me to a plot line that I'd seen before, but I should have known better. The villain of the book is connected to two families, each of which sees a different side of his character, and what a character!!! But I trust Jewell to build a story that I'll never be able to solve, and she delivered. If you love thrillers with unique twists and characters, you've hit the jackpot with DON'T LET HIM IN.

🥳🥳Happy Pub Day🥳🥳

There is nothing I hate more than a liar AND a cheat .. to roll all that madness into 1 human being .
That story just writes itself .
Catfish on steroids 😬

This book was maddening. I was so irritated with these women but then ugh felt so bad for them.
I was screaming at them " AT YOUR AGE YOU NEED TO KNOW BETTER" but then rooting for them to figure it out.

Lisa Jewell has done it again & I think the message here is if something or someone is too good to be true please be aware & when someone shows you who they really are on repeat please believe them .
Maybe this book wasn't super unique but idk about you but I can never get enough of these stories 🤷
& I could not stop reading . I loved all the characters even when they bothered me.

Thank you #NetGalley for this eArc.
I was so excited to read this one & it did not disappoint.

I loved this book so much. In true Lisa Jewell fashion I was totally confused the entire time until the last third of the book when everything started coming together.

I had to know what was going on with this man and how all of the women were connected and it was a twisty ride!

Lisa Jewell is a must read author for me and this one did not disappoint.

The multiple POVs of the different women, combined with the villain's POV intruding in all of their lives, bring this dangerous and suspenseful tale to life. I also loved how they all came together in the end. Fans of psychological slow-burn thrillers will enjoy this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the digital ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

Nina Swann is grieving the unexpected loss of her husband when she receives a condolence card from one of his old friends—Nick Radcliffe, a charming, polished man who quickly weaves his way back into her life. But while Nina finds comfort in Nick’s presence, her daughter Ash grows suspicious and starts digging into his past. Meanwhile, in a nearby town, Martha’s husband has been disappearing for work more frequently, and something doesn’t feel right. As the threads of these women’s lives begin to intersect, they’ll all wish they’d taken one warning seriously: Don’t let him in.

This one was a slow burn—at times very slow—but I stuck with it and was ultimately satisfied by how things turned out. The pacing doesn’t really pick up until after about 60%, and for much of the book, it feels like you’re circling the same con over and over again. That said, there’s just enough tension and character intrigue to keep you hooked—and even though I guessed most of the twists, I was still invested, hoping it would all come together.

And it did. The ending was satisfying, with the right amount of closure and “just desserts” for the characters involved.

While the beginning might test your patience, I wouldn’t recommend skimming—there’s important build-up that keeps the story grounded and makes the final unraveling more impactful. If you enjoy domestic suspense and can handle a long fuse before the explosion, this one delivers in the end.

3.5/5 🌟

a better late than never pub day review! happy pub day to lisa jewell & don’t let him in - special thank you to @netgalley & @atriabooks for an ARC of this book!

i just finished and im still trying to gather all my thoughts! the alternating POVs were super confusing at first because it doesn’t say who’s who at the beginning of each chapter but then you get used to it once you can figure out which of the MANY characters POV it is 😂 there are SO many characters in this book.

i feel like i loved this book but also didn’t at the same time?? a con artist so lots of repetitive nature to the story line which annoyed me but also couldn’t put it down?? i did love the ending though so that is a win!

not my favorite but not my least favorite by her!

Lisa Jewell does it again, with such a brilliant story. She’s right, this is yet her darkest character.

The story follows multiple POVs all of women confused of who they let into their lives. While also following a timeline of the events that leads up to our main characters shady life. Now our main character has got a “too good to be true” vibe and things start to unravel quickly as the story goes on.

I recommend going into this book blind, to get the full effect of the shock and twists. There’s a reason why Lisa Jewell is the queen of thrillers, she always makes my jaw drop. This book has got to be my favorite book of hers. Never have I ever hated a character so much 🤬 and disgusted at the same time.

Do yourself a favor and add this to your beach bag for a shocking beach you read!!

If someone seems to good to be true....beware

Paddy Swann, a successful restauranteur with a larger than life persona, is dead, randomly pushed under a train by someone with problems. He left behind his wife, Nina, and adult daughter Ash, to struggle with the sudden loss of the man both loved. When Nina is contacted by Nick Radcliffe, a charming and handsome man from Paddy's past, the two have an instant connection and soon become deeply involved. Ash is at first happy to see her mother coming back to life, but there is something about Nick that troubles her. Maybe it's too much too soon, but she thinks there is more to Nick than it appears and she starts digging into his past...and what she discovers is far worse than even she suspected. Nina's and Ash's paths intersect with that of Martha, a hardworking florist who is struggling financially and whose husband Al's behavior, including frequent and insufficiently explained absences, is making her doubt their relationship. It turns out that neither Nick nor Al is whom they claim to be, and their deceit is far from innocent. Charming personalities can mask a multitude of sins, and the abuse of trust that the women have experienced may be the least of their problems.
As the story in this latest tale from author Lisa Jewell unwinds through multiple perspectives including those of different women whose lives have been affected by a man's deception, the suspense slowly builds. What kind of person deliberately inserts himself into another's life, taking advantage of their vulnerabilities, making himself look like the perfect man for them all while manipulating them to act to his benefit? Nina's grief makes her easy prey to someone who claims he knew the husband she lost, and single mother Martha was no match for an experienced liar's campaign to woo her. It is Ash, who is dealing with her own share of problems and is having difficulty in finding her direction, who sees past the slick facade and senses the less than pure motives of her mother's new beau. When the women connect with one another, and then cast a net on the internet to find out just how many victims there are of this master manipulator, they find that as a group they have more power than they realized. Looking for love online has always posed a measure of risk, and in this day and age the amount of digital trickery that abounds is truly frightening. Don't Let Him In is an unsettling thriller with relatable female protagonists and a twisted villain, one which handles themes like trust, grief, isolation and vulnerability well. A great summer read, it should be of appeal to fans of Paula Hawkins, Freida McFadden and Gillian McAllister. My thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for allowing me access to this novel of deception in exchange for my honest review.

**Short Review of *Don’t Let Him In* by Lisa Jewell:**

Lisa Jewell delivers another incredible psychological suspense story with *Don’t Let Him In*. When Nina Swann reconnects with a charming old friend of her late husband, her daughter Ash’s instincts tell her something’s off. As Ash digs deeper, secrets unravel and lives begin to intertwine in chilling, unexpected ways. Across town, Martha’s seemingly perfect life begins to crumble under the weight of suspicion and lies. Lisa Jewell expertly weaves these parallel narratives into a gripping, slow-burn thriller that builds to a jaw-dropping climax. If you’re a fan of Lisa Jewell, you don’t want to miss this one!

What a page turner! Lisa Jewell does not to disappoint with this latest novel. In true fashion to her previous work, you will find a main character you will despise because he is so well written. There are different timeliness and characters to that are so intertwined you'll be left wondering throughout how it all connects.

This book had me suspicious of everyone… including the author.
Lisa Jewell knows how to set the mood: eerie men, tense households, and a whole lotta secrets. But whew—this one had more storylines than a soap opera marathon. Every time I started to get invested, boom, we’d hop to someone new dealing with their own chaos.

Three women. Two mysterious men. And at least four subplots fighting for attention like it’s open mic night.

Yes, the themes were juicy (hello, love bombing and hidden motives), and I did want to know how it all tied together… but somewhere between chapter jumps and backstories, the suspense fizzled.

🔍 Read if you love:
– Domestic thrillers
– Unreliable charmers
– Multiple POVs with secrets galore
– Saying “wait, who’s this again?” every few chapters 😅

Would I lock my door after reading it? Sure.
Would I reread it? Probably not.
But if you like slow burns with tangled threads and a dash of drama, this one might be your cup of chaos

I enjoyed the way the story lines come together- how at first they seem completely separate and as story continues you see what's really going on and what these women have in common. I found it super interesting, but not particularly thrilling. I was expecting more of a twist or wow moment, but ther never came. I enjoyed the book, it just wasn't quite what I was expecting.

3 Stars. I feel like this is a relatable story. You hear about this happening all the time. I did figure out the ending, sort of the Epilouge twist did get me though.

I’ve loved Lisa Jewels other books and it’s not that I didn’t like this one, I just didn’t love it.

There were so many characters which did make it quite difficult to follow at first. Eventually I was able to though.

The ending was not as strong as I was hoping as well.
