A Masterpiece from one of our Queens of Suspense. & I mean, WOW. Lisa Jewell has once again proven why she's a titan in psychological suspense. If you haven't yet fallen under her spell, Don't Let Him In is about to change that.
You know that rare kind of book that sinks its claws into you from the very first page and simply refuses to let go? This is one of those. The lies, deception and secrets were so intricate, I'm still trying to untangle my thoughts.
Nina's seemingly perfect world takes a curve ball when her husband is murdered. Then Nick arrives. He's charming, captivating, and has a way of disarming everyone around him. Insert Ash, Nina's daughter. She has a nagging suspicion – that gut feeling that screams, "SOMETHING IS TERRIBLY WRONG!" Every page turned peels back the layers, & "unsettling" doesn't even begin to cover it.
In need for some hidden darkness behind seemingly flawless lives? Or do you just crave a thriller that will have your heart hammering against your ribs? THIS IS THE ONE.
Brace yourself for a relentless twists, turns, and that signature Lisa Jewell chill that will make you question every creak and shadow in your own home.

"Don't Let Him" in was a fantastic thriller following the life of Nick Radcliffe. It doesn't take long to realize he goes by many names and has many lives. I sometimes struggle with books that have too many characters, timelines, or locations, but I eagerly dove into the pages to uncover more about him. Highly recommend!

I was going to rate this a 3. But that ending?!??! I swear that ending had me cheering! Not to mention my adrenaline is pumping right now!! Best ending there could be 😍

Yes!! So good!! I did NOT see the ending coming! Lisa Jewell always finds a way to grip me and keep me on the edge of my seat!

This was everything I expect from Lisa Jewell—dark, twisty, and totally addictive. Don’t Let Him In had me hooked from the first chapter with its eerie atmosphere and constantly shifting sense of who to trust. The characters felt real and flawed, and the tension just kept building. I flew through it in two days and loved every unsettling minute.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Too many characters to keep track of what's actually happening in the story. I couldn't really decide if I wanted to keep reading or not and honestly? Not worth it.
The man's an absolute POS and we could tell that from the very beginning. I don't think anything about him is a mystery. It was far too easy to guess what was going on right from the jump.
And the women? They all seem like they're just about to grow a back-bone and then he bats his eyes at them and they cave. With mountains of evidence and suspicions and they're just like "Well, I'm sure it's fine." I'm not typically down for victim blaming, but I am down for asking my thriller writers to write better female characters.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable, quick read that had a few good twists I didn't see coming. I always enjoy parallel story lines to keep me guessing and this wasn't short on an array of questionable characters.

Man I had high hopes for this book. I loved Lisa's book from last year so I was holding this one at a high standard and maybe that was my mistake. This was a good book but I found myself waiting and waiting for the big "drop" that just never really came. There were twists but nothing that really wowed me. I will always and continue to read Lisa's books though! Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

🖤 Just finished Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell… and I have thoughts. 🖤
This one definitely hooks you fast. The vibes? Dark, twisty, and unsettling. The MMC? Absolutely unlikeable—in the exact way he’s meant to be. Watching all his secrets unravel while the violence escalates? Chilling. And that final scene? One of the best moments in the book.
But… here’s the thing.
The story felt a little too familiar. I wanted more originality, especially with a redemption arc that felt weak after everything that went down (and all for a man??? 🙃 No thank you). The twists? Some worked, some were so-so—I saw a few coming from a mile away.
The middle dragged a bit, and there were too many side plots/red herrings that didn’t land. I wanted to be gripped the whole way through, but it lost some of that initial momentum.
Still, the tension and atmosphere? Classic Lisa Jewell. That slow-burn dread, the emotional manipulation, the shifting power dynamics—she knows how to write a psychological mess. I didn’t love this one, but I didn’t hate it either. A solid ⭐⭐⭐ from me = neutral vibes. I liked parts, just didn’t love it.
Not every book will be the one, and that’s okay. I’ll still be picking up more from her!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell definitely pulls you in right away and keeps you there. The MMC is super unlikeable, as he should be, and the unfolding of all of his secrets are done very well along with the escalation of his violence all in the name of keeping those secrets. The ending was probably the best scenes in the book.
However, the story felt derivative. The redeeming scene at the end for one character was expected, but after everything that was done beforehand? And all for a man? Not redeemable enough. A three star rating for me is more like a neutral rating because it wasn’t a bad story, I just wasn’t super into it. I finished it, I liked some parts, but I definitely felt as if it was overhyped. Some surprise twists along the way were good, but also felt predictable. I will give this author another chance, as I know sometimes not everything is a winner, and that’s okay!

In Don’t Let Him In, Lisa Jewell delivers another twisty domestic thriller filled with unsettling secrets and layered characters. When a woman invites an old friend into her home under uneasy circumstances, she sets off a chain of events that exposes the dark truths lurking beneath the surface of her family and past.
Jewell excels at tension and atmosphere. The claustrophobic setting worked well, creating a sense of dread that lingered throughout. The psychological complexity of the characters was a strong point—especially the subtle shifts in power dynamics and emotional manipulation.
While the pacing started strong, it faltered in the middle with a few too many red herrings and side plots. Some character motivations felt underdeveloped or inconsistent, making the final twist less impactful than it could have been.

3.5
this started off really slow and i struggled with continuing to read it. i also found the beginning was hard to follow. bht when things started picking up i couldn't put this down. simon is one of the most obnoxious and terrible character i have ever read, i was literally hoping he would die. overall, i liked this

This thriller is a tense, addictive read that grabs hold and doesn't let go. The plot is full of sharp turns and perfectly timed reveals that keep you constantly guessing. The writing is atmospheric and tight, pulling you deeper into the danger with every page. The characters are layered and unpredictable, adding to the suspense. It’s the kind of book you finish in one sitting because you have to know what happens next.

This book was tense! The suspense had me on the edge of my seat. The writing was well done and easy to read. Had me needing to know what was going to happen next and how it all would play out. This takes you on a journey of deception, lies, manipulation and trying to decipher the truth. One thriller that’s worth the read. Overall I enjoyed it and would recommend.

Sigh. I had to read this because 1. I received an ARC and 2. For book club. I’ve read 3 Lisa Jewell books and I think I’m done for the foreseeable future. I guessed the twist within the first 2 rounds of POV rotations and found the book dragged on and on and on to finally get him caught. The characters were lack luster and obviously the main man pissed me off so much I wished he really would have died. At least he doesn’t get away with it, but god this was not thrilling at all. I would have DNFd it if I didn’t have an obligation to finish it.

This story was great! Guy meets girl, guy lies to girls and a vicious cycle repeats itself. Sometimes some of the situations were predictable, but well thought out. Some bits were crazy as well as creepy. I liked learning the backstory on how and why things evolved the way they day. The ending was a great wrap up.

Just finished Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell and wow—this one had me hooked! Super twisty and tense, with that classic Lisa Jewell vibe that keeps you guessing the whole way through. I couldn’t stop turning the pages! A couple parts felt a little rushed, but overall it was a wild, satisfying ride. If you love a good thriller, definitely check this one out!

I love lisa Jewell. The only reason I gave it four stars was for the slow start and goofy ending. It was very suspenseful.
Not my favorite book by Lisa Jewell. But definitely worth the read.
I received this galley from NetGalley.

Thank you Lisa Jewell, Atria Books, and NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for an honest opinion.
I was super excited to be approved for this ARC. Lisa Jewell’s books always have me on the edge of my seat. With that being said, this one was a little more slow paced than her usual thrillers, but it was still gripping and entertaining. Lisa really knows how to make her audience despise a character in this one.
This book is about the perfect man. He’s charming, attractive, and knows exactly what a woman wants to hear.
Nina recently lost her husband. He was pushed in front of an oncoming train by a stranger. After his death, Nick Radcliffe, aka the perfect man, wrote Nina a condolence letter. After that, their relationship bloomed,
Martha is a florist who is married to her perfect man, Alistar. They have a child together and she thinks their life is perfect, until Alistar starts disappearing and not coming home at night.
As these stories intertwine, secrets begin to unravel. The past and the present start to tell a more sinister story. Other women start to come forward.
And the ending… I didn’t see it coming but it was very satisfying.
3.5/5 stars.

Don't Let Him In, easier said than done! A charming stranger enters the lives of three women. Nina, a grieving widow is seeking comfort, but her daughter Ash sees all of his red flags. And for Martha, he is her loving husband who is getting more mysterious day by day. Their stories begin to overlap and his truths come to light. The man that they have let in, is not who he claims to be and trusting him can prove to be a very dangerous mistake.
A masterful Tinder Swindler story full of suspense without any cheap thrills, every plot detail feels intentional and diabolical. I loved the pacing and the way the story keeps you guessing. It was slow burning but tension building in the sense that there is always a fine line between vulnerable and safe and being in danger in intimate spaces and settings. There are several "main characters" in this story and every single one of them are flawed in one way or another and makes you question who you can really trust. The middle did drag out slightly, but the payoff is well worth it. The ending is unsettling, chilling and clever!
