Thank you Atria Books for the gifted digital ARC!

Christmas came early for me when I received that blessed NetGalley approval email from Atria for Jewell's newest book. And this one did not disappoint!

While chatting with my buddy reading group it occurred to me that even though this felt pretty predictable and there weren't (in my opinion) any big twists, it was SO well-written that I could not put it down. It is a true testament to Jewell's impressive storytelling abilities.

I don't really want to say too much else because I wouldn't want to spoil it for future readers. Don't Let Him In pub date is June 24, 2025.

Don't Let Him In by Lisa Jewell was a highly disappointing read for me. The familiar trope of con man taking advantage of women is the gist of this story. This story didn't grab my attention, it meandered through different time frames and tons of characters that ultimately I didn't care about. Nothing new here. It was not thrilling, suspenseful or overly engaging. Huge disappointment of a read.

I loved this book by Lisa Jewell. This was about a man with multiple relationships and names that gained his financial come up by frauding women he met and wooing them. He became jealous of a famous restauranter and decided that he wanted that life for himself. He planned in essence what was a "long con" on the chef's widow. The only problem is her daughter Ainsley was immediately suspicious of how he was trying to assert himself into their lives. With some detective work on her part, along with her dad's old girlfriend, they start to put together the pieces of 'Al's' past.
The book kept me interested, and I read it over two days' time.
Thank you to #netgalley for this #arc

Have faith in Lisa Jewell’s skill to make sense of the narrative chaos and deliver the closure you crave.

You’ll meet three women:
Martha - a florist who struggles to raise a family and hold down a career with a husband who’s always out of town on business
Ash - Paddy Swann’s daughter in her twenties who’s moved back home
Nina - Paddy’s wife who’s devastated at his death

You’ll be wondering how these women are linked. You may not identify with any of the characters. You may not like the point of view switching. You may even get frustrated. Hang on. Jewell will prove why she’s known for her art of subtlety, her plot cohesion, and her character transformation. She unravels and ties up loose threads at just the pivotal moment. Plus, you’ll get to meet the slimiest villain Jewell has ever created; I call him Rico Suave or Teflon Man. You know the type; they have ulterior motives, take advantage of people, yet come across as a ‘silver fox’. Beware there’s mange below that glittering exterior.

Jewell’s narrative takes you through some uneven terrain; it’ll be a twisty, dark and somewhat disturbing ride. Buckle up. Don’t believe everything you see. For goodness sakes, don’t let him in.

I was gifted this copy by Atria Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

THank you for an advance copy of one of my FAVORITE authors. Lisa Jewell is the master at storytelling these well developed, character driven thrillers. She takes her time telling her stories and doesn't sacrifice to give a good story. This one is about a man with many names, who has spent his life lying, cheating and deceiving women to his own ends. We learn about each of these women one by one...Martha, Nina, on and on...and eventually all is revealed. I could not put this down, it was so engrossing and well done.

I enjoyed Jewell's last book, so I knew I needed to pick this one up. I think it was a good choice to have the antagonist and protagonist perspectives because they played off each other. Sometimes going back to the past was annoying because I don't love the use of past to play off the present, but it worked in the end. The antagonist was so awful that sometimes it was hard to read his perspective, and I know that was intentional. Overall, it was a very satisfying thriller.

Wow! I devoured Lisa Jewell's 'Don't Let Him In' in one sitting. Knowing her work, I anticipated a good read, but I was utterly hooked from the first page. The twists and turns were relentless, keeping me guessing throughout. The main character, a chillingly depicted psychopath, added a layer of unsettling realism.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to any fan of thrillers.

I was a little disappointed. It was very predictable. Hoping for more back story and some more twists.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book before its release in June 2025.

The plot flows like a classic Lisa Jewel novel- quick chapters, thick plot, a lot of suspicion and many characters. For a story who references many characters, it cues you each time with enough past info to help you keep them straight. It was apparent from the beginning how this story would end. This story was not a unique however it was written well enough to keep you reading. If you’re looking for a solid, women win/ teamwork kind of book, this is an enjoyable read.

Over 3 stars...

Lisa Jewell is the master of twists and turns. This one is a little different, because there's no real whodunnit. The reader meets the bad guy early, and the rest of the book is a race to see how and when he'll be caught. This narrative structure didn't allow for as much tension and anxiety as her other books, but it was still an interesting web of lies to watch unfold. And it's very past paced. The story is told through multiple points of view and on different timelines, and the switches can be a bit jarring, but never confusing.

Thank you to Lisa Jewell, Atria Books, and Netgalley for the advance copy.

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the ARC! 3⭐️ Had good details of how the man was so manipulative that the women did whatever he wanted. I did like the back and forth of the present/past. I feel like it gave an insight as to his thoughts and how/what was going on to lead to the present. I do feel it was a bit slow at times. I think it didn't need to be as long as it was. O did skim some due to details that didn't necessarily pertain to the main story line. This is my second book of hers, and it was okay.

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC ✨️

Okay I 100% liked this way better than None of this is True. I went in with mixed feelings because I know Lisa Jewell is highly rated but I've never been thrilled by her books and usually DNF them. But this one? She nailed it !

You follow along 3 POV:

First you've got Nina and Ash, who have just lost Paddy, the husband and father leaving everyone devastated. He leaves behind a restaurant business and large amount of wealth.

Second you've got Martha, who runs a flower shop and manages her children while her husband Al is always on the go for work but they never seem to have any money.

Lastly you follow the flashback of this mystery man as it leads to current day choices

I have to say the writing was quiet clever and thrilling to piece everything together. I could not put this down and when I did it was cause I physically couldn't stay awake any longer.

Lisa Jewell books always go beyond "dark and twisty" and are as much character study as thriller. Don't Let Him In is far more chaotic and layered than her most recent book, None of This is True, which relied on creeping tension and dread. This shift is incredibly appropriate to communicate the headspace of our narrator, but it admittedly led to some confusion early on as I tried to navigate the multiple characters and timelines. While it is still extremely character driven, I didn't find as much morally grey here as I'm used to with Lisa's novels. I did find parts of this more predictable than I would have expected - there was never a twist that really knocked me off my feet. Regardless, I could not put it down. My biggest gripe is actually with the epilogue, which I felt created more questions than it answered - mainly, after all these years, what was it that led to Amanda's drastic change of heart?

At first I was just in a complete state of confusion as I started this book. I’m sure it was intentional. Then throughout the rest of the first half I felt suspicious, frustrated, and annoyed… in a good way I think. I started having serious suspicions toward the start of the second half of the book and the part I’m at right now, I believe is about to confirm this, so I will most likely start feeling angry. SO AMNY CHARACTERS! I felt I could really connect with Ash and some of her feelings, not all (she’s a bit much). This book kind of felt like watching a car crash in slow motion, you know can’t stop it but there’s enough time that you can’t help but yell NOOOOOOO! WHAT AN ENDING. Almost had me in a rage but DAMN. Loved it!

For the Lisa Jewell fans out there, brace yourselves! This new release coming in June 2025 is worth the wait! This psychological thriller is exactly that. With an antagonist who is simply one of the most despicable, and deplorable individuals, this is a character you might see profiled in a breaking story on the nightly news!

The book begins with the death of Paddy Swann, a restauranteur who has been murdered. His wife Nina receives a note from his former colleague Nick Radcliffe. Ash, Paddy's daughter is taken by the kindness of the note and encourages her mom to reach out to Nick. A year later, Nina and Nick are dating. The more he is around, the more Ash becomes suspicious of Nick, and she reaches out to an ex-girlfriend of her father to see if she has any memory of Nick. The two women bond and begin a journey together, unraveling the mystery of Nick Radcliffe.

The story shifts and the reader is introduced to Martha, a florist with big dreams, married to a businessman named Al. Al goes from the loving and present husband to disappearing and going radio silent for random bouts of time. Martha becomes suspicious that her husband may be having an affair. Little do the women know it, but their paths are about to cross.

This book is loaded with a lot of characters which got a little overwhelming at times, but as the story progressed and the plot unfolded, all started to reveal itself and all the pieces started to click together. If you find the beginning to be slow, stick with it. It is worth the wait! I definitely recommend reading this one when you will have limited interruptions so you can pay attention and stay focused on all of the different characters and their piece of the story.

This book is well written with well-crafted characters. The way the different people interconnect, and the continuous plot twists will keep the reader on the edge of his or her seat. Make sure you are buckled in for the ride. Just when you think it is done, the next twist takes hold!

I want to thank Atria Books, Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review the advanced release copy of this book.

Lisa Jewell never fails to disappoint in a thriller and this book is certainly no exception. The story is intricately plotted with wide spanning timelines and perspectives that are delicately woven together. What a feat!! The book was a bit slow in the beginning while it was building up but at the midway point I couldn’t put it down! There were a couple of moments that had me raise my brows and want to yell at the characters for doing slightly dumb things, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to other thriller enjoyers. If you enjoyed other Lisa Jewell books this one is certain to impress.

I enjoy this author, Lisa Jewell work immensely. Her writing flows smoothly and is very easy to keep reading. I had a hard time putting it down. The story is very common to a few real stories about conman but with a twist.

The chapters and paragraphs at times, were hard to distinguish what character was talking or what time frame. I had to go back a few times but it did not keep me from reading.

Thank you again. I will be excited for more books to read from this author.

Don’t Let Him In is a classic Netflix docudrama about a conman who moves from place to place, woman to woman, bleeding them dry of their money and moving on once they’re broke or hip to his game.

Except this story is a bit darker - a bit more twisted than some. Jewell really explores the domestic thriller here with relationships full of gaslighting, love bombing, financial abuse and vindictiveness. On the other side it’s sad to see just how easy victims are to be found and desperate many women are to find that perfect man.
