I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

So much fun! I adore these two heroines and the worldbuilding is delightful. I did not expect the book to go where it went and warn you that there is a cliffhanger at the end! That one drove me crazy! Luckily the wait for book 4 isn't too bad.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an ARC of this audiobook for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Yet another wonderful adventure with Reyna and Kianthe, and definitely their highest stakes one yet! As always, Thorne provides us with a colorful cast of characters, most familiar, but some new. I really enjoyed a glimpse at Leonol and meeting some Leonolan characters!

As always, the audiobook was narrated to perfection, and I look forward to the final installment of the series (for which I already have an ARC audiobook lined up hehehehe).

It pains me to rate this book two stars, because I loved the first book of this series. I lost a little bit of interest in the second book but still enjoyed it. However, this book, the third in the series, did not have the same feel as the first two books. I usually don’t mind character-based books but I feel like this was lacking plot-wise. I will still see this series through to the end by listening to the fourth and final book.

I will be upfront and admit that I ended up DNFing this title, but not for lack of a good story. It is very much a cute and cozy fantasy with some adventure and mystery going on, but for me, and I want to emphasize that - FOR ME - the plot was just too slow to really get into. I myself enjoy a story with a plot that keeps me glued to the book and turning pages, or in this case, refusing to pause audio.

Jessica Threet as the narrator was a good choice. When I was listening the audio, I was focused. She kept my attention with the details and bringing the characters and scenes to life.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a slow placed cozy with fun characters.

This is my favorite of the series so far! A delightful romp, this time with a political intrigue twist. I especially enjoyed getting to see the main couple grow in their relationship in new ways, proving that falling in love is the just the beginning. Established queer couples don't get enough page time, usually, so an entire series devoted to one is a breath of fresh air!

This third installment in Rebecca Thorne's Tomes and Tea series is just as good as the first two -- wonderfully cozy with just enough action and intrigue to keep readers invested in the story. Narrator Jessica Threet really brings these characters to life, and I can't wait to listen to book 4!

In this installment, Kianthe and Reyna are planning both a wedding a coup, what could go wrong? There’s cute baby dragons, their cozy tea shop and we get to revisit all of the wonderful townsfolk. In terms of plot there's a lot less in this book and it's more character development. The pace is a lot slower than the previous books. As always the narration was well done and the storyline makes sense for where the series has been/is going. It does kind of feel like we could have stopped at three books instead of keeping the series going. I would read the next book but I won't be prioritizing it.

Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan audio for this ALC that I chose to listen to and review

What a sweet story. First I have to say I listened to this as an Audiobook and really enjoyed it! The characters, their voices and their relationships were developed well at the beginning so I could jump right in even though I hadn't read the first 2 books in the series. Loved the connection of their dragons and the sweet moments in the tea house.

Review: Tea You At The Alter 🫖

Kianthe and Reyna are finally ready to walk down the aisle! In just seven days, their lives as wives will begin. With the big day approaching quickly, there’s load to do and everything seems to be going awry. The baby dragons are causing mayhem, Kianthe’s uptight parents invite themselves to the wedding, and Reyna gets enmeshed with the plans to overthrown Queen Tilaine. The seems to be against them, so will they make it down the aisle to say, “I do?”

This is the third book in the Tomes & Tea series and it feels like the story gets better with each book!

There’s not many specifics I can give without major spoilers, so bear with me here.

I love this series so dang much! Mages, assassins, dragons, pirates, tea, books, political plots, relationship drama, found family, nosy & lovable side characters…these are the top things I love from these books, but there’s probably more of I think about it more. The writing is atmospheric and really whisks me away to Tawney each time I books up this series.

In particular, I love how interwoven each book is and how characters who are mentioned or seen in previous books show up later on to have their stories fleshed out more. I also LOVE the coziness of it all! In this books, there’s the fun of wedding planning and our MCs working on perfect wedding gifts for each other mixed in with meetings to overthrown the Queen.

When this series ends, I will be devastated. But, also, I need the next book ASAP!

Run, don’t walk, to pick up this series!

Verdict: REALLY FREAKING LOVED 🥰

I love Rebecca’s books so much! This one might be my favorite (so far)! Kianthe and Reyna have gone through so much together and apart.
The narrator did an amazing job bringing the story to life. They made me feel like I was there and a part of the action!
I cannot wait for the next book!

So happy to be back in this world and with this couple. This continues from where book 2 left off and Kianthe and Reyna are ready to get married, but it can't be that easy for them. I think this may be my favorite in the series, but I love them all, so much. It feels like this could end their story, but there is another one coming. So I'm very excited to get more of their story.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Libro.fm's ALC program for eARCS and eALC of the book in exchange for my honest review.

I DNF'd book 2 but know what happens just because I wanted to continue the series; It just lost the plot on that one.
This book wasn't as bad and it had a nice cadence to it due to the countdown towards the long awaited wedding. I loved that we did get new people joining the cast and more diverse in their own personalities and preferences. It was definitely much better and the chaos of everything was good, just a bit more political than I expected.

Thank you to the publisher for the ALC and this is my honest opinion.

It's the event we've been waiting for: Kianthe and Reyna will be getting married. Yay! There's much to do, including decorating and cooking, but there's also a little matter of dealing with Queen Tilaine.

Some time earlier, the Queen's spymaster Locke paid Reyna a surprise visit one night, proposing a daring and treasonous plan to the former Queen's guard.

We also meet a young woman named Tessalyn, who has lived in obscurity far from the Queen's palace her whole life, and under the protection of a young swordsman, and practically speaking older brother. Locke is bringing Tessalyn to the wedding.

This puts Reyna in a difficult place, but Kianthe understands, and together with Diarn Feo and Lord Wylan, Reyna's significant understanding of the Queen, and Locke's knowledge, the wedding will be not just a joyous occasion, but the sight of a bold plot against the Queen to bring change to the Queendom.

Author Rebecca Thorne brings back various characters from previous books, while introducing more, and keeps the dangers of enacting their plot against Tilaine balanced nicely with the usual banter and lighthearted coziness of this series.

Despite Reyna's uneasiness with their actions, Queen Tilaine has never shown herself to be wise or a great ruler, so the coup plot makes sense. I really liked Tessa commonsense, and her radical ideas (or radical if you like about monarchies).

Of course there's a happy wedding with much merriment, and the ending left me eager to read the next, and last, book in this series.

I listened to this book, and enjoyed Jessica Threet's narration, despite never really liking her voicing of Kianthe. Threet's Reyna has always worked for me, by contrast.

Thank you to Netgalley and to Macmillan Audio for this ARC in exchange for my review.

The perfect continuation of Kianthe and Reyna’s story as they plan and prepare for their wedding!

This series has been absolutely delightful to listen to and I’ve grown so fond of these characters. This is the perfect cozy fantasy series with amazing representation and tons of love! I can’t wait for the last (I think) book!

The narrators did great at portraying the characters.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Rebecca Thorne, and Macmillan Audio for providing this free ARC. This is my honest review. This published on March 4th.

I received copies of this book through NetGalley from Tor Publisher, and audio from Macmillan Audio. Thank you! All opinions are my own.

The third installment in the Tomes & Tea quartet takes place several months after the events of book two. The pacing in this book felt relatively quick — with all the events taking place within a week. Reyna and Kianthe are planning their upcoming nuptials, and it’s going to be the event of the year. Everyone is invited — but it’s not all smooth sailing. New friends, and old ones, arrive in Tawney all wanting to wish the couple well. Well, maybe not everyone…

Oh wow! Book three was absolutely amazing. This is probably my favorite in the series so far. Following Kianthe and Reyna on their relationship journey has been an absolute joy. And I can’t wait to see what adventures they’ll have in the final installment of the series. I absolutely enjoyed this book, as well as the audio narration by Jessica Threet. I’ve enjoyed Threet’s performance for all three novels so far. She gives each character their own unique voice and style, and I can really appreciate her commitment to the performance and voice work.

Overall, Thorne has created a sweet, cozy, fantasy series, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys sweet romances, fantasy bookstores, and of course, tea.

This was absolutely my favorite book in the series yet. The DRAMA.

This book was full of a concentrated, suspenseful plot that took this from just a cozy fantasy to a fantasy with a strong plot line and many cozy elements.

I love the breath of the characters in this story, and how developed our main crew is at this point in the series.

I can’t wait for book 4. That cliffhanger was brutal.

Tea You at the Altar is the third book in the Tomes & Tea cozy fantasy series, and it follows Kianthe and Reyna as they plan their wedding… and possibly a coup. (This review contains spoilers for books one and two.)

I really enjoyed Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea, but I thought the second book faltered. While the first book was mostly cozy with a few dramatic scenes, A Pirate’s Life for Tea felt like a series of slow speed boat chases—neither cozy nor exciting. It also didn’t help that Kianthe and Reyna were separated for a lot of the story. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but I’m happy to say it returned to a lot of what I liked best in Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea.

Because the plot revolves around planning the wedding and its accompanying political confrontation, there’s a bit of a countdown element, which is fun. It also is a great balance between coziness and epic fantasy: there’s tablecloth colours to pick and allies to persuade.

Similarly, at the same time that Reyna and her allies are trying to decide on a replacement government, she’s also trying to win over her parents-in-law. Kianthe’s parents planned for her to marry a man. They always expected her to end up with her childhood best friend. After being estranged during her magic education, they unexpectedly show up prior to the wedding—with her childhood best friend in tow.

Reyna is initially surprised and even amused, especially because “Female pairings are always preferred in the Queendom.” Still, being rejected and seen as inferior by her in-laws is painful, and trying to win them over and help to repair their relationship with Kianthe adds a whole layer of complexity to an already overwhelming endeavor.

Another fun aspect of the wedding is that it brings together characters from the previous books in a new setting. There’s Bobbie and Serina, of course, who played a major role in A Pirate’s Life for Tea and still haven’t totally settled into their new relationship, often resorting to bickering like they did as kids. There’s also the Dastardly Pirate Dreggs, who is a fun addition.

The lost princess Tessalyn along with her bodyguard are the new additions to this growing cast, and I really liked them. Tessalyn is coded as asexual and aromantic. She also grew up in a culture that values academics above all else, so she brings a different perspective. I appreciated her strength in her own convictions and independence, regardless of pressure from others.

The subplot I found most interesting was Reyna’s questioning of her faith. Until recently, she lived in the Queendom, where its citizens worship a pantheon of gods. Kianthe, like most non-Queendom people, worships the Stars and Stone that she draws her magic from. As Reyna questions more of what she was taught, she also begins to doubt the gods—but there is so much else going on, she doesn’t have much time to think about theology. What comes out of this helps add to the worldbuilding.

I will say that sometimes the cozy and high stakes elements clash a bit and end up with something like a Disney movie villain confrontation, but I think that’s okay. It may be a little overly neat, but you’re not going to cozy fantasy for realism. I also want to warn that this volume ends on a cliffhanger, but we’ll be getting the last book in the series in August.

Book 3 is a wedding!!! This was a delightful read with diverse characters, tons of puns, drama and dragons. This series is cozy but with some added higher stakes elements. Anyone that has been apart of planning a wedding knows how stressful it is. The novel follows our town of Tawney as they rally behind the wedding of the century but there is more to this wedding than most of the town suspects.
We are introduced to new characters and get more adventures with beloved side characters.
The baby dragons are tons of fun in this novel and you really get to see their personalities develop.

I’ve loved the Tomes and Tea series since they were indie, so I was delighted for Rebecca but gutted about the longer wait for book 3 when they got picked up to be traditionally published. But it’s here and it was absolutely worth the wait (and book 4 is coming this year too 🎉)

I adored being back in Tawney and seeing so many of their friends from the previous two books come together, along with some new faces!

Our girls are finally getting married, but of course they can’t do that without a spot of treason. This time they’ve tracked down the Queen’s secret younger sister to dethrone her. Unfortunately, they need to convince her to take the throne first, and that might not go how they planned 👀

The plot was strong, the vibes were cosy, and there were baby dragons! What more could we ask for?

If you’re a fan of cosy fantasy generally or this series specifically, I highly recommend picking up Tea You at the Altar, and I’m eagerly awaiting the finale in Alchemy and a Cup of Tea!
