This book was an excellent read. It had me guessing through the whole thing and when I thought it had gotten the right idea of where it was going I was totally wrong. It took me a minute to get into it because the writing style was a little different than I'm used to but once I got into it, I couldn't stop.

This book made me question my sanity. The twisted storyline made me second guessing everything about the whole plot. I could feel myself getting agitated whenever Catie was getting dragged into the mess. I felt so bad for her at first but knowing the truth- It broke my heart to see what happened with Olivia.

I was a bit confused with the dual povs at first but it completely made sense at last. Everything was falling back into it's place & things started to make sense. The writing was really good too.

Wow! This book was brilliantly written!! So many twists and I honestly couldn't figure it out until the very end.

This storyline touches on Stockholm Syndrome, extreme brainwashing and so much deceit. I loved it and definitely recommend it!!

I really enjoyed this audiobook—the narrator was fantastic. I loved the dual timeline and all the twists and turns along the way. But the ending? That didn’t quite work for me.

This book was full of twists and turns from the start. The characters had you invested from the start. The plot twists had you guessing till the very end. A great ready full of suspense and twists that will leave your jaw on the floor.

There are some books that will make you question your sanity, and this was one of them for me. This tale of sisterhood had a psychotic touch that offered some kind of emotional depth to the story though it was logically questionable. While I swept through the pages and drank it like lemon juice, I can't help but notice some sourness. It was confusing if you skimp through chapters and the complexity of the sister's characters changed 180 degree after a particular scene which didn't sit well with how I imagined her.

The whole guessing game was like tossing a coin, switching between two outcomes. Since I have read my own share of thrillers it made me see through one of the major plot-twists in the book.

Wow! This book is quite the psychological thriller. Just when I thought I had things figured out, Bam; there was a new twist.
A story of family love, loss and betrayal. The people you think you can trust aren't always the people you should trust.
You will not be disappointed in this book.

TW: Incest, Stockholm Syndrome, Child Marriage.

This book is more of a heartfelt kind of novel than a mystery.

When Olivia disappeared, Caitie's life was forever changed. She's tried to build a life for herself amidst guilt, heartbreak and blame. Now, Caitie is a people pleaser, forever stuck in her sisters shadow. She's become a replacement doll for people who mould her into what they want, her parents, her sisters best friend, and even her fiance. After years of pushing down her own innermost thoughts and feelings, Caitie feels trapped in her own life. Until Olivia suddenly appears. But though this woman looks and talks like her sister, there are gaps in her story which lead Caitie to believe that the woman who came back is maybe not her sister at all.

This book makes you feel frustrated at Caitie and sorry for her all at the same thing. Her lack of action, her willingness to forgive and brush everything under the rug leaves you wanting to shake her fiercely. But the way everybody treats her makes you understand her frustration with her life and the feeling on being trapped.

The mystery is pretty easy to solve early on. The multiple povs pretty much give it away. There are a few twists that leave you surprised but I wouldn't call this the best thriller ever written. It's a one time read.

I loved the strong love that Caitie has for Olivia. Her words make you feel sorry for the sisters and everything they had to go through. I also felt sorry for Elinor as well. Poor thing. And whatever happened to Flynn.

I would've given this book 5 stars except for the incest part. Though it isn't detailed much, it leaves you feeling icky and slimy. That'd why I have to bump down my rating to a 3.5.

Overall, it's a great one time read, especially if you enjoy complicated relationships and twisted sisterly bonds. The incest part could've been completely cut out and this story would've been for the better and not changed one bit. So if you can sit through the revulsion of brother-sister incest, I would recommend it to you.

I received this book as an ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this book, I couldn’t read it quick enough. It starts out with two different story lines, Caitlin and her older sister Olivia. Olivia was abducted as a child, but then returns sixteen years later. Also the story of siblings Heath and Elinor.
There were so many twists and turns, some very dark content and lots of guessing. You’re not sure in the beginning if the two story lines are relevant to each other, but you will by the end! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes dark thrillers.

The story unfolds from two story lines and two different narrators that in the beginning feels a bit confusing. Neither story seems to be at all related but then comes together at the end.

This one keeps you guessing. There are many twists and turns that convince you the story is heading in one direction, only to be derailed and takes off in another. I love when a story is not as predictable as you thought. The author is a master at her craft, she nails the suspense and mystique and puts together one hell of a story.

The characters were mostly likable, even the villains had some redeeming qualities. Some reviewers mentioned this as a dark story. I didn’t feel that way, there’s just lots of suspense.

Two missing sisters. Two villains. And two shattered families. I totally enjoyed it.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author and Embla Books For an ARC of this great book.

This was not for me. It had too many ick factors for me to enjoy it. But the writing was decent and it did have a few twists. I admit I did not finish it, however.

Thank you to the publishers & Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in advance!

This book was brilliant! It contains lots of suspense, which I love and knew how to kept me reading right until the very end.

This book definitely took an unexpected twist! Sisters Caitlin & Olivia were home alone as their parents enjoyed an evening out. When they returned, Olivia had disappeared and Caitlin was scared silent. There has always been speculation and lingering emotions regarding what happened that night. When years later Olivia returns, Caitlin is not convinced that this is truly her sister, as there are things she should know & she appears not to. Is this an imposter? Is it really Caitlin? Caitlin’s parents are so happy to have her home, they are not willing to question any nor be doubtful.

Meanwhile, there’s a second storyline taking place with the POV of Elinor Ledbury! I can assure you that you will be wondering how these stories intertwine & will be completely shocked as it is revealed!

Overall a solid read that I found very intriguing. Thank you Kensington Publishing for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I enjoyed the Catie and Olivia storyline for about the first half. The second storyline was distracting and not all that interesting. Yes, they tied together at the end as expected, but by then, the Catie/Olivia section has gone from interesting to absurd. There were just too many pieces that fell together in a rush towards the end, and it didn't ring true. I think there was potential here, but it needed to be more believable to be a satisfying read.

An interesting storyline that involves 2 characters telling a story from their point of view and we, the reader, are trying to figure out how they are connected. One story involves a young woman who is remembering the kidnap of her older sister 16 years ago. The parallel story involves an older teenager living in solitude with her brother as they await their inheritance. Some other reviewers didn't enjoy this book but I really did - I found it well plotted and the pacing was excellent. I thought I had the connection figured out but then found I was incorrect towards the final 50-100 pages, which made for an interesting conclusion. Well worth a read.

Picking a random Netgalley thriller to read in the hopes of being entertained while in the hospital before being jumpscared by incest wasn't on my 2025 bingo card. No point in that. Couldn't recommend this less.

I loved this book. The first three words that come to mind are disturbing, engrossing, and original. Although it is dark, and there are a few places that went on a little bit longer than may be necessary, it was a really good read.

Thanks for the opportunity to read and review.

This was...really bad? Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I've read this book, but with a better plot, at least three other times. I'm still at a loss for what the main purpose of the book was or which characters we were supposed to be rooting for. It felt like it was both trying to do too much and also not nearly enough.

I actually really LOVED this book! It kept me on my toes. I found myself literally gasping and covering my mouth at points. While, yes, I did figure out some of the plot twists, I was still left guessing what was going to happen and was still shocked by some. I will absolutely be recommending this book.

Thriller about a young girl, Olivia, who gets abducted at the age of 13 when she is left alone at home with her 10-year old sister while her parents go out. 17 years later, she suddenly reappears but then her younger sisters starts wondering if it really is Olivia or someone pretending to be her.

The book was really gripping until the last few chapters when I felt the whole thing got a little silly and the ending was not only absurd but also felt rushed.

The characters were well developed. A few twists to keep you guessing. Entertaining.
