Molly is at it again with another caper at the Regency Grand. In this installment of the Molly the Maid series, Molly’s life couldn’t be better. She is Head Maid, Events Coordinator and planning her wedding to the love of her life Juan Miguel. Art dealers and hosts of the television show Hidden Treasures will be filming at the Regency Grand. Molly brings a few trinkets and finds she is the owner of a valuable objet. Of course, it wouldn’t be Molly or the Regency Grand if something unexpected doesn’t happen.
In what is likely the final book in this series, we learn the story of Gran’s life, how she came to be a maid and how she came to be in possession of the valuable objet. This is more than a mystery, it is a feel good story of true love and family. A sweet ending to a feel good series.
Thank you to Ballantine Vooks for the arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As always, a fun and heart warming story about Molly the Maid. I read this as slow as possible because I didn’t want the book to end. Sigh. I am finished and hoping the next installment comes out quickly. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for gifting me the book in exchange for my honest review.

Molly Gray, the maid, is back in the third book of this series. We see Molly's role at the Regency Grand Hotel expand to include the Special Events Manager. Her marriage to Juan is fast approaching, but first is an upcoming event at the hotel - hosting the famous antique appraisal team of Brown and Beagle. She takes several of her Gran's items for appraisal and encounters quite a surprise.
The story is told in dual timelines - alternating chapters between Molly in the present day and her Gran's diary which gives us the extensive back story of her grandmother's childhood and adulthood.
This book is just as charming as the first two (and the Christmas novella). Don't worry, Gran's favorite sayings continue to be included. The big bonus is finding out about Gran's and Molly's mother's experiences. It is a quick yet delightful read, giving me a warm feeling about Molly and the other characters. Looking forward to Nita Prose's next Molly Gray adventure.
Thanks to Ballantine Books and NetGalley for this advanced reader copy.

The Maid's Secret is the fourth book (if you count the Christmas novella) in the Molly the Maid series. You don't have to read the previous books to enjoy this one, as all pertinent facts are provided, but it will be a richer reading experience if you have read the previous books.
First thing you need to know about this novel is that it is NOT a murder mystery. I loved this about the book. So many mystery series just have murder after murder, and it starts to be ridiculous that there is so much murder involving a town or individual.
The next thing you need to know is if you have been reading this series and you've missed Gran, you will be super pleased with this story as we get a lot of her history. This book is a dual timeline story. We have the present with Molly working at the hotel, where the television show Hidden Treasures (kind of like The Antiques Road Show) is taping an episode. And then we have the storyline from the 1950s (I think) of Gran (Flora) as a young girl. In her dying days, Flora wrote her life story in a diary for Molly to read one day.
The story started off a little slowly. I was immediately intrigued by Flora's story, but every time we came back to the present, we just had Molly on the carpet after fainting. That scene dragged on way longer than it needed to - I was all like just tell me why she fainted and move on with the story.
Eventually, Gran's story of the past becomes intertwined with the mystery of the present day. I don't want to tell you too much about what the mystery is, as that will ruin some of the suspense for you.
If you are looking for a mystery to lose yourself in but aren't really wanting a murder, this is the perfect book to pick up.
My review will be published at Girl Who Reads on Friday - https://www.girl-who-reads.com/2025/05/2-mysteries-to-keep-you-guessing.html

It was good to be back at the Regency Grand! While this series certainly won’t go down as one of my favorites, they’re great, cozy mysteries with lovely, albeit quirky, characters.
I LOOOOVED the chapters from Gran’s diary; I honestly could’ve read a whole book just about her childhood. Her and Mr. Preston’s love story isn’t marketed or written as a contemporary romance, but it certainly should/could be (a future spin-off, perhaps?). Just when I thought there was nothing more to learn about Gran (there’s a lot of her backstory in THE MYSTERY GUEST as well), Nita Prose serves this to us on a freshly polished silver platter 🥹
The present-day timeline, on the other hand… nothing to write home about. It was interesting to see how both timelines were connected, but I found myself skipping through, just wanting to get to Gran’s diary chapters ASAP! Plus, there were barely any “Molly-isms,” as in the first two books, which was a bit disappointing. :(
Overall, this is a cute, quick, binge-worthy series. And if you’re into regency-era romance (or just romance in general), I’d pick this one up!!

I think this was my least favorite of the series. I’ve always had hesitations about the portrayal of Molly being sort of ableist and reductive, and this was it its worst in this book, where she came across as more cutesy and with less depth. The story itself also felt a bit trite and superficial, which was frustrating. The mystery was interesting enough and the writing had some bright spots, but overall this was a miss for me.

4.5 stars- I enjoyed this book! Compared to book 1 & 2, it was second in my favorite. (Not counting but yes I also read the Christmas special!) Molly's representation has always been appreciated, and I just adore her view on life.
Grans background was such a juicy storyline, that weaved seamlessly into the present mystery. Bravo.
I definitely got emotional at the end, and love the way love is depicted. ❤️

Nita Prose is a highlight when it comes to humorous, well written mysterious that call back to Mrs. Marple and Murder She Wrote and Molly The Maid fits perfectly in the same vein.

The fourth book in this series. I received an advance copy and should have finished it sooner. A nice, easy to read story with a happy ending. Four stars.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this ARC publication for an honest review.
This was the perfect conclusion to this series! All the characters we have come to love and hate (I'm looking at you Cheryl!) come together for another misadventure.
We get mystery, romance, and a must needed backstory from Gran's past...ending with Juan Manuel and Molly getting their well-deserved happily ever after. I love how far our beloved Molly has come yet she has stayed true to her quirky self!
4 stars

I enjoyed this book! I have read most of hers and enjoyed each one of them! This was such a good add in to the series! I will be purchasing this to go with the series! Love all of them!

TVRating:TV-14 for D, disturbing themes including for sexual assault and murder
Finished The Maid’s Secrets and it was such a fun read overall! I loved how we got two different perspectives this time. It kept the mystery fresh and gave extra insight into the story. Nita Prose’s signature humor is definitely still there but felt a bit dialed down with the dual perspective. The Maid still has my heart and is my all time favorite!

I enjoyed learning more about Gran and how her story shaped Molly’s life! The mystery was a nice twist that I wasn’t expecting!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced digital copy of this book!

Another charming adventure of Molly the Maid! I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in the series, and the third did not disappoint. I may have teared up just a little at the ending! So much love for The Maid books!
Thank you to NetGalley & Random House for the ARC!

I enjoyed The Maid's Secret, but I didn’t find it quite as endearing as the previous books in the series. While I still appreciate Nita Prose’s unique voice and the charm of her protagonist, I felt that some of the character’s distinct personality—the quirky observations and heartfelt awkwardness—was missing this time around. The present-day storyline felt a bit flat and didn’t draw me in as much as I’d hoped.
That said, the real standout for me was the grandmother’s diary. It brought a refreshing new layer to the story and kept me engaged, trying to piece together the mystery alongside the characters. This dual timeline element added emotional depth and intrigue, and it’s ultimately what kept me turning the pages. Overall, this was still an enjoyable read, especially for fans of the series.

Molly is one of my favorite characters so I was excited to revisit her, and the rest of the Regency Hotel gang in the latest installment of the Molly the Maid series. I wasn’t aware before reading that this is the last book in the series but after reading I can say that I found this to be a satisfying conclusion. I particularly enjoyed that with this book readers were offered a look into Gran’s (Flora) backstory and her history with Mr. Preston.

Molly is back in the third book (fourth if you count 2.5!) of the "Molly the Maid" series: "The Maid's Secret." Once again, Nita Prose delivers the cozy, quirky charm we've come to expect from our favorite crime-solving maid. This time around, Molly is juggling wedding planning, a hit reality show filming at the Regency Grand, and a high-stakes art heist tied to her late Gran's mysterious past.
The real heart of the book is in the uncovering of Gran's life. For a character that's been gone since book one, she remains a big presence, and her diary adds significant depth to the story. The mystery is fun, the characters remain delightfully offbeat, and even if the plot leans a bit over-the-top, it's always a joy to spend time in Molly's world.
It is not my favorite book in the series, but it is still an enjoyable read. I'll keep turning pages as long as Molly keeps solving crimes.
Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group, and Ballantine Books for an advanced reader's copy; all opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Another installment of Molly the Maid. Gosh, do I love this character. She is deeply resonant and I love reading her adventures. Molly’s signature charm makes her an unforgettable protagonist.
With the latest book, we find ourselves on a clever whodunnit blended seamlessly with a deeply emotional journey of love, legacy, and self-discovery. This book is as charming as the first two and you will be touched and engaged. The warmth and wit of this book is irresistible. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

Molly Gray is back, and oh bless her feather duster, she’s sharper, wiser, and still charmingly precise. The Maid’s Secret is like a puzzle box wrapped in linen napkins—every corner crisply folded, every clue quietly waiting to be noticed. I devoured it like a hotel mint left on a suspiciously spotless pillow.
This sequel has all the delightful quirks of the first, but with deeper shadows and higher stakes. Molly’s unique way of seeing the world is both heartwarming and hilariously blunt—I laughed, gasped, and occasionally whispered, “Molly, nooo…” only to be proven wrong (again!) by her quiet brilliance.
If you're a fan of mysteries with brains, heart, and a heroine who wields kindness like a superpower, you’ll love this one. Nita Prose delivers a tale as polished and unpredictable as the Grand Regency itself.

I’m not a big fan of multiple timelines in stories, so it took me a bit longer to get through this one. For me, there was more going on to keep track of than what I was looking for.
Overall though, a decent ending to this set of stories.
