It was so good to be back with Molly the Maid! I love Molly's character, she is so quirky and straightforward, it gives her a quiet confidence at her job and with others. There are times when I feel a little second hand embarrassment when she doesn't pick up on social cues but Nita is always so good at writing past that.
At first I was worried about the back and forth between past and present but I loved learning about Gran's life and story. It helped answer questions about Molly's mom and it connected well with the present mystery of the egg. The theft kept the story moving along, without it I don't think there would be enough for a 3rd book in this series.
There were some aspects that I didn't love so much; the tv show felt over the top at times and some of the characters were slightly annoying. But there wasn't enough to make me hate the story and stop reading it! Molly is just such a unique character that you can't help but cheer for!
This is my least favorite of the series but overall a satisfying read and a solid 3 stars! Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

The Maid’s Secret is the fourth book chronicling Molly Gray. Molly is a maid at a hotel and her fiancé is a pastry chef there too. This book alternates each chapter between present day Molly and then her grandmother’s journal. There is a television show for collectors that is filming at the hotel. Molly brings a box of trinkets. In the box is a jeweled Fabergé egg. The egg is actioned off as for ten million dollars. Right at the end of the auction, the egg disappears. Alternatively, her grandmother’s story comes to tell about the Fabergé egg came into the family’s possession. Back to Molly’s story. The egg was found on her cleaning cart at the hotel. They thought that the two men who were the hosts of the tv show and auctioning off the egg were involved. Molly devised a plan to set them up to expose themselves. The plan worked and one of the men was involved. In the end, Molly solved the crime and married her fiancé Juan. 3.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Ballentine Books for an advanced e-copy for an honest review.

This is the third book in the Molly the Maid series by Nita Prose- and I still love the character of Molly. Each book can be described as a "cozy mystery" but the best part is truly the main character. In the third book we meet Molly again as she has been promoted from Head Maid to Special Events Manager at the hotel her and her fiance work at. The hotel has the opportunity to host a favorite TV show "Hidden Treasures" where two popular art appraisers have guests bring in their treasures to see what is junk and what is really worth something unknowingly. Molly decides to bring in a shoebox with some of her Gran's old things- and everyone is surprised when one item is infact a hidden treasure with a hidden story.
The story is half of her reading her Gran's diary and the other half present time of her trying to decide what to do with this "hidden treasure" and the secrets that lay beneath it.
I love the characters in this story but the storyline felt slow for me. I also wasn't surprised by the ending because I think there were plenty of clues exposing the "twist"
Thank you to the author, publishing team, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Book is set to release 4/8/25!

Once again we are in the world of Molly the Maid but this time we get to know more about her Gran. This is so comforting, heart warming mixed in with a little mystery. I find that I have a fun cozy time while reading these novels. If you read all of this series you'd love this one.

When the reality show Hidden Treasures films at her hotel, Molly the Maid brings one of her gran’s items to see it’s worth. To her surprise it is worth millions! But then it suddenly goes missing. In her quest to find the missing treasure she finds her gran’s diary to be the key and in the process learns so much about her beloved gran.
I really enjoyed other books in this series but this was a let down for me. I liked hearing more about Gran’s story and I found these to be the more entertaining chapters. However, they didn’t fit great with Molly’s chapters and the Gran portrayed really didn’t feel authentic. Overall I still adore Molly as a character but I struggled to stay engaged in this story.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC!

My thanks to Net Galley, and Random House/Ballantine for allowing me to review this arc to review.
Molly the Maid is back! This time getting some of Gran s trinkets appraised on an Antique Roadshow type show filming at her hotel. When one of the trinkets, a valuable Faberge egg is stolen, Molly and friends set out to find the culprit while planning her wedding to Juan. In between we get excerpts from Gran s diary that fill in her back story.
I did like this but thought Gran s story could have been shortened.

I loved the original book “The Maid”. I thought it was charming and original. The second book was “okay” and this latest installment has lost most of the charm.
2.5 stars

Who else has been swept up with the romance with Molly the aid and Juan Manuel? I’m ready to pack a bag and head to The Regency Grand Hotel today! Nita Prose does a great job at writing each of her books so that it easily works as a standalone.
Molly the maid #3 is a special book in the series. The book starts by bringing readers up to speed on her life. Then the diary is opened. I love the family secrets that are revealed through her grandmother’s writings. What an inspiring history of this rags-to-riches family.
Molly and Fiancé Juan Manuel, new fiancés, are planning their wedding when the Regency Grand Hotel hosts a reality show much like Antiques Roadshow. Several employees bring in their trinkets, and Molly gathers a few things, too. One of her family treasures is an egg that she has kept for sentimental reasons. Surprise! It is an authentic Faberge egg and worth millions of dollars. Molly faints, and the story gets rolling. Will she quit or continue to work as a maid? Plot twist! The egg is stolen, and Molly’s life is threatened. Detective Starks, the staff of the hotel, and us readers are hot on the search for clues. on the case. Grandmother’s diary has the answers! It’s just a good, fun story and an excellent getaway from real life.

THE MAID #3 book about Molly the Maid and esteem Maid at a hotel. She is well respected and gets promoted to events manager and also engaged to the love of her life ..well how could things get better for her? The hotel decides to have a show at the hotel where they appraise old items such as antiques. Molly brings some of hers and surprises everyone including herself that it is worth millions. Life has just changed again for for Miolly again..for the better or worse?
Thanks to Randomhouse and Netgalley for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

"The Maid’s Secret" is my favorite of all the Molly the Maid books! Nita Prose delivers a charming, feel-good mystery that’s both fluffy and heartwarming, making for an utterly enjoyable read.
Molly Gray, now the Head Maid and Special Events Manager at the Regency Grand Hotel, is preparing for two major milestones—her wedding and the auction of a priceless artifact she unknowingly owned. But when the treasure vanishes, Molly and her friends find themselves at the center of an art heist filled with twists, surprises, and a few heartfelt revelations. Through her Gran’s old diary, Molly uncovers a long-lost love story that ties directly into her present in ways she never expected.
This book is a cozy, lighthearted mystery with just the right amount of emotional depth. Molly’s unique perspective and growth make her an even more endearing character, and the past-meets-present storyline adds richness to the plot. While the pacing drags slightly in the middle, and the mystery’s resolution is a bit too tidy, the book’s warmth and charm more than make up for it.
A delightful, easy read that blends humor, intrigue, and heart. Perfect for fans of cozy mysteries and uplifting stories!

it always feels like coming home every time i start a new book with molly and company, and this one was no different. i loved learning more about gran and her life and it was so heartwarming to connect her and molly’s back stories. i did feel like this book was a little slower paced, but still a great story and a fun time reuniting with my friends!

I received a copy of the book,"The Maid's Secret" by Nita Prose from NetGalley. I have read the other Molly the Maid books so I was glad to get this chance to read the most recent Molly book. This time Molly wants to bring the Faberbee gg her grandmother had over the decades. She there is a show coming to the hotel she works that prices items brought to them. { kind of like the Antiques road show} Molly is sure this Egg should be worth some money. she is delighted when she finds that this Egg is worth a lot. the book then goes back and forth between Molly and then a diary Molly"s grandmother Flora wrote over the years. the diary is mostly from when Flora is a teenager. We find that Flora grew up in a wealthy home. At this time Flora's parents are struggling to keep their riches. . they want Flora to start dating and hopefully marrying the rich spoiled son of another family. Flora writes about this in her diary. even being gifted this fancy Faberge Egg. Molly has never known much about her grandmother as a teenager.
Meanwhile the egg comes up missing, there are threats made against Molly about the Egg. there are claims the egg belongs to someone else.
Added to the story Molly's wedding is coming up to Juan Manual. there is lot going on in Molly's life with the expensive Egg, Finding out things about her grandmother trough the diaries. And getting way more attention. A lot for Molly to take in. A good book. I liked having part of the book seen through Flora's narrative. Glad I got the chance to read another Molly the Maid book.

I always enjoy the oddness of Molly and how cheesy all the puns are in these books. This one was a little more unique as it flips back and forth from a perspective of current Molly and reading a diary from Gran. I just loved reading Gran’s diary and finally hearing about her past.
I don’t typically find myself reading what I’d call a “cozy mystery” but gosh I truly enjoyed the entire book.
While I loooved this one, I do hope it’s the end of Molly the maid. I feel like this would be the perfect place to end her journey.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review.

I just love Molly the Maid (Molly is authentically Molly and we need more of that in this world) and thought this was a good continuation of the series. I think it is the perfect finale to Molly's story and I hope this is the last book, with a happily ever after and everything wrapped up. I liked finding out about Gran through her diary and how everything was all connected. It was cool to bring back the egg from the earlier installments. This whole series is a good mix of a little mystery and a lot of heart. Highly recommend Molly's universe!

Just when I thought I couldn’t love Molly Grey anymore. She truly is a good egg and I enjoyed reading her story. This one provides some insight into Gran’s history. I loved getting to hear her background. It sheds some light on the influence she had over Molly. Overall, a great read!
Thank you to NetGallet and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

If you love the Molly the Maid series, then you will love this third installment. A show called Hidden Treasures descends onto the regency Grand hotel. The staff are permitted to bring their items to be appraised, and Molly brings her Grans beloved fabrege egg and it’s worth millions! Just as Molly thinks her financial troubles will be gone, the egg is stolen and her life threatened. This is interesting because we are reading about this heist but every chapter in between is about Gran’s story of her childhood and young adult hood presented as diary entries. Her diary entries become very important toward the end of the book. The verbiage and language used are very old school and not necessarily something that is accurate to either time period but adds to the charm of the book. If there is a fourth book, I would love to see it about Juan’s family either visiting the hotel or Juan and Molly visiting them in Mexico.

Everything in Molly Gray’s life is going just right. She’s about to be married to her love Juan Manuel, and she takes great pride in her role as Head Maid and Special Events Manager at the fancy Regency Grand Hotel. The hotel’s latest special event is a taping of a popular Antiques Roadshow-eque tv show, and the employees can bring in their treasures to be appraised too. Molly brings in an old trinket that her Gran left her, and it’s the shock of a lifetime when the egg Juan Manuel affectionately calls the “Golden Huevo” turns out to be a priceless Faberge egg. When the treasure is stolen from under their noses right after fetching a $10 million bid at auction, it’s up to Molly and company to solve the mystery.
I enjoyed this latest (and last) installment in the Molly the Maid series but felt it lacked a little of the charm that made the earlier books so special. I absolutely adored Molly when I met her in The Maid, quirky and literal with grown-up Amelia Bedelia vibes. Although Molly and her world have grown over the course of the series, I felt like the Molly I knew and loved was a bit missing in The Maid’s Secret, reduced to repeating her Gran’s trite pearls of wisdom.
Speaking of Gran, the dual timeline focuses heavily on her riches-to-rags backstory. While I did end up enjoying her story and how it tied into the egg plot, I honestly wanted less Gran and more Molly. I found myself skimming Gran’s chapters (especially the early ones, where young Flora bears zero resemblance to the wise, gentle Gran we’ve gotten to know before) to get back to Molly and the gang. And maybe it was just me, but the vibe of Gran’s chapters feels slightly off too, like they’re taking place in the Victorian era rather than the 1950s.
All that said, the two timelines come together perfectly, and the series ends on a perfect happily-ever-after note with Molly and Juan Manuel getting married at the Regency Grand. If you’ve been with Molly from the beginning like I have, you won’t want to miss this heartwarming conclusion that’s as sweet as Juan’s marzipanimals!

Protect Molly at all costs!! I love this series so much it is a hot cup of tea and a cozy sweater. I loved this story and appreciated learning so much more about Gran and her life. Just a precious series with a light cozy mystery. Hope these books keep coming!

Molly is one of my favorite fictional characters of any series that I have read. Her quirky banter and big heart make her easy to love. I loved reading the connection between Molly, her Gran and Gran-Dad.

Book Review: The Maid’s Secret
A review of Nita Prose’s latest installment in The Maid series, with Molly the Maid back for her best mystery yet!
By Mandy Crow
Since we’ve highlighted every one of Nita Prose’s books in The Maid Series—The Maid, The Mystery Guest and the Christmas-themed novella, The Mistletoe Mystery—it’s clear we’re big fans here at The Bookery. Prose’s next installment, The Maid’s Secret, releases in just a few days on April 8, and, well, it might be our favorite book in the series!
In The Maid’s Secret, Molly and her beloved fiancè, Juan, are happily planning their wedding, which is just a few weeks away at the beginning of the novel, and working at the Regency Grand, where Molly serves as head maid and head of special events, and Juan is busy as the head pastry chef in the kitchen. The book opens as the hotel staff—including all our familiar favorites such as Mr. Snow, Angela and Cheryl, who’s back to her old greedy ways—is preparing for a big event. The hosts of a popular TV show “Hidden Treasures” (think PBS’ “Antique Roadshow”) are on hand for a taping that could change someone’s life forever.
And that someone, as it turns out, is Molly.
Molly brings a knick knack of her Gran’s for appraisal only to discover it really is a valuable Faberge egg. Of course, the egg is stolen, setting off a mystery that delves into not only Molly’s past but also her Gran’s and Mr. Preston’s. Finally, readers get a chance to hear Gran’s story, told in her own words through diary entries written for Molly, and learn more about Molly’s elusive mother, Maggie.
One of the things I’ve personally loved about Prose’s The Maid series is Molly. She’s likely on the autism spectrum, and it’s interesting to see how she interprets and reacts to things. Of all of the novels in the series, Molly feels the most well developed in this installment. Maybe it’s my current place in life, but I felt like I connected more with Molly in this book, and she began to feel a little less like a character and more like a person I knew and understood slightly better.
But the real power of this novel is the flashbacks that reveal Flora Gray’s, Molly’s gran, story. We learn that Gran wasn’t always the thrifty, commonsense maid who worked for everything she had, but a privileged young woman of means. We learn where so many of Gran’s catchphrases came from, like “A tissue for your issue,” and get to see the series and its characters from a whole new point of view. Gran’s history is recounted through diary entries that are beautifully written and infuse the novel with Gran’s warmth and love.
While I love all of the novels in Nita Prose’s series, The Maid’s Secret is my favorite. Molly is such an interesting character, but she’s always appeared a little two-dimensional to me, and Prose achieved a new depth and perspective in her portrayal in this book. The plot is tightly paced, maybe a little better than in other novels in the series, and the mystery is captivating. I actually stayed up late to finish the book “on a school night,” because I wanted to see if the pieces all fit together the way I thought they would.

The Maid’s Secret is the best installment in Nita Prose’s The Maid series yet!
