The Maid’s Secret is the third book in the Molly the Maid series, and endearing Molly gets a sudden windfall when one of her late Gran’s artifacts is appraised for millions of dollars. But when the treasure is stolen during a live auction at the hotel where Molly works, Molly and the gang are plunged into a deep mystery, and Gran’s long forgotten diary may hold the key. The allure to this series is the quirky, naive Molly and how she interacts with her friends and coworkers, and that theme is on full display here as Molly’s backstory is cleverly told through the reading of Gran’s diary. The descriptive narrative is slow to start, but as Gran’s “voice” reveals more of the story, the reader is held rapt as the backstory seamlessly blends in with the central plot, resulting in a captivating love story that helps solve the mystery and explains the theft. Tedious to start, but definitely gets better as the story unfolds. I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I always felt this series had a lot of lose ends. This book helped clear up many of those questions I originally had about Molly's family.

I enjoyed both narrations from Molly and her Gran (in the voice of her diary). The characters were still very appealing. I liked that this time of wasn't another murder that needed to be solved, since that felt like it was becoming ubiquitous.

I can't wait to see what other novels Nita Prose writes,
(I didn't realize "The Maid" was her first novel which won a few awards!!!)

Molly loves her job, Special Events Manager of the Regency Grand Hotel and she loves her fiancée Juan but her perfect life is soon turned upside down when she discovers a highly valuable and priceless piece of art within her late gran's possessions. Soon Molly becomes a target and after the piece goes missing, she begins to uncover the story behind its original owners.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the opportunity to review this RAC.

Molly the maid is back! She has not been changed a bit! The timelines alternate between current and past (via Gran’s diary). This book was perfect to finish up the series. I am going to have to go back to brush up on some of characters. Now I have to go from book 1 and re-read!

The third full-length mystery in the Maid series finds Molly's life turned upside-down. Just as she's about to marry Juan, the love of her life, an antiques show films an episode at the hotel where they work. When she brings in a few personal treasures to be appraised, one of them turns out to be a rare find: a Faberge egg with a unique history, one that had been hunted for years in vain. Because the audience is entranced both with the find and with Molly's unusual response to it, she becomes a viral celebrity. And she hates every minute of it. And then the egg is stolen.

In alternating chapters, we learn about Molly's beloved grandmother and how she became the person we know from previous books. It fills out Molly's backstory and provides a compelling story of its own.

I admit I'm growing just a tad weary of some of Molly's chirpy sayings, though her quirky character remains compelling. The flavor of the book is a bit different due to the duet of voices, but I enjoyed finding out what happened to the egg as well as the more compelling mystery of how it came to play a role in Molly and her grandmother's lives, and how they came to be the people they became.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
The Maid's Secret is the third full length novel in the series. This story finds Molly having her Fabrege egg assessed by the book's version of Antiques Roadshow and when she goes to sell it, the egg goes missing and Molly must solve the mystery.
This was good, but it is my least favorite of the series. Half of the book is devoted to Gran and we learn her past through journal entries. And, while interesting, this kind of took me out of the book. We didn't spend enough time with the core characters of the story and much of the quirkiness I've come to expect was missing.

This book is a must read for fans of Molly the Maid! This time, famous antique dealers are visiting the Regency Grand. All staff and guests are encouraged to to bring in their junk to see if there could be a diamond among the ruff. Molly’s fabergé egg is authentic and worth millions! You’ll have to read the novel to understand more about the heists and mysteries in the story, but the plot kept me guessing! This book has a lot of content on Gran and her backstory that I really enjoyed. And it may hold the secret to solving the case! I love all the side characters. Molly and Juan are so sweet together.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

4 stars- this happens to be my favorite maid series read! we got a glimpse of flora's past life with the reveal of Mr. Preston at the end of the second book. I particularly enjoyed the parallel perspectives of grandmother Flora vs. present. I loved Flora from the beginning but now that we got a full peak behind the curtain of her life, it made me cherish her even more. thank you netgalley & the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you so much to Nita Prose, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, and NetGalley for this ARC of The Maid's Secret. This is book #4 of the Maid series and from this book it seems as if this will be the last of the series. This book surprised me as it was mostly about Molly's Gran and a mystery that happened in her life! I missed learning and hearing about Molly during these chapters. Admittedly, I think it was time for this series to come to a close. 2.5/5 stars rounded up to a 3 as the ending chapters did some redemption for me!

This was my favorite entry in The Maid series yet. How does it keep getting better, when they’ve all been so good?! One of my favorite characters has always been Gran, and this book has a dual POV - alternating chapters are told in real time by Molly, and in diary entries by Gran.

The novel opens with Molly fainting after finding out she’ll be a millionaire right before she is set to finally marry Juan. We are then transported into a quick series of events that leave us wondering about both Molly’s family history as well as how she’ll adjust to life altering news. In the meantime, Gran’s diary - written before her death - seeks to tell Molly the truth behind her family. Both POVs were equally thralling, but seamlessly woven together such that I didn’t mind that they were always interrupting each other at critical moments! It just resulted in me plowing through through the book to see what happened next.

The mystery itself is fun and a little surprising, but the main hold for me and what left me wanting more was the affection I felt for Molly and her gran, and their deep love for one another. I also loved how each of them stayed true to who they are through extraordinarily difficult circumstances.

Thanks to NetGalley, Random House - Ballantine and Nita Prose for the ARC.

Love LOVE this book-just like the others before it by this author. I was transported and transfixed. I couldn’t stop reading. These characters are beautiful and multi-faceted. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series, fingers crossed.

As a huge fan of Nita Prose’s Maid series, I was beyond excited to receive an ARC of the newest installment, The Maid's Secret. I dove right into the book and quickly found myself lost in the world of Molly Gray and the quirky characters that have become so beloved. Prose has an incredible ability to craft characters that feel real and endearing, and I was thrilled to reconnect with the familiar faces from the previous books.

In this latest installment, we’re once again immersed in the Regency Grand Hotel, where Molly finds herself wrapped up in a new mystery. As the story unfolds, we alternate between Molly's predicaments and chapters that delve into her Gran’s past through diary entries. While I was excited to see where Molly’s new adventure would take her, the Gran chapters, unfortunately, didn’t quite capture my attention in the same way.

It was interesting to learn more about Gran’s background and her life before Molly, but I found myself eager to get back to Molly’s storyline every time the focus shifted. There’s something so captivating about Molly’s unique perspective, and the moments where we dive into her investigative skills and interactions with the hotel staff are always so fun and full of charm. In contrast, the Gran chapters, while adding depth to the story, felt a bit disconnected from the pace of the main mystery, and I didn’t feel as emotionally invested in them. Every time a Gran chapter came up, I found myself thinking, “But I want to know what’s going on with Molly!”

The mystery itself, while engaging, felt a bit too contrived and the reveal didn’t come as naturally as I had hoped. The solution to the mystery seemed somewhat forced and didn’t quite unfold in a way that felt true to the progression of the story. I love Prose’s knack for subtle clues and clever twists, but in this case, the conclusion felt a little too neatly tied together, almost as though it was a bit rushed.

That said, The Maid’s Secret still provided plenty of heart and charm that kept me engaged throughout, and I truly hope this isn’t the last time we see Molly Gray and her quirky cohorts. I’ve grown attached to the characters and their lovable eccentricities (except for Speedy; I found him to be grating and did not enjoy his inclusion in the story). I’m eager to see how Molly’s story continues to evolve.

This is a solid addition to the series, with plenty of the wit, charm, and mystery that made the previous books in the series so enjoyable.

I have heard so much about these books and I now regret how long it took me to read this author! Just phenomenal. I loved this story. It captured me from the first page. Loved it!

Molly’s life is changing due to planning a wedding to Juan Manuel and she is now employed as the Head Maid and Events Manager at a prestigious hotel. She is juggling life and work. At work, she is planning a big event for a taping of an antique show and she brings in some of her own trinkets to be evaluated. She learns that one of her objects is worth millions, and on auction day it goes missing. Molly and her friends must search her grandmother’s old journal for clues to help solve this mystery.

This book is on par with the former books in the series. It has charm and fun throughout it. It’s a past/present timeline between Molly and her grandmother’s journal. If you liked the first books, then you’ll enjoy this one as well. It’s a great ending to the series.

Thank you, NetGalley and Ballantine Books for a DRC of this book. The opinion in this review is my own.

Thank you NetGalley, Ballantine Books, and Nita Prose for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I’ve really enjoyed all of the other books in this series, and this one was no different. This one follows Molly once again as her life changes when she realizes an old trinket that she has is worth millions. She faces a media frenzy and isn’t sure who to trust…

This book goes back and forth between Molly’s story and her Gran’s story. She finds her Gran’s diary and learns more about who she was and her relationship with her grandfather. I really liked learning more about Gran and thought that her chapters were especially well-written and entertaining.

Overall, if you’ve enjoyed Molly’s story so far, you’ll love this one. And as long as the author continues to release books in this series, I will continue to read them!

Molly the maid and the staff of the Grand Regency Hotel returns in The Maid's Secret. Molly Gray's life is changing in exciting ways. She is now Head Maid and in charge of special events and Molly can't wait to get married in two short months to her fiancé, Juan. When the popular TV show Hidden Treasures chooses the Grand Regency Hotel to shoot their next episode, Molly brings a box of her grandmother items to be appraised. When one of those items turns out to be a rare antique possibly worth millions, Molly is turned into an instant celebrity. In a daring heist, the priceless heirloom goes missing during the auction. Molly and her friends must look into the past to find who is behind the theft.

This book is the perfect ending to this series. The chapters alternate between Molly and her friends as she investigates the theft and diary pages from her grandmother that tells the story of her past. I loved reading the diary chapters and learning more about Molly's grandmother. I was excited to see many of the same characters from the previous books (even Cheryl) make an appearance throughout the story and I couldn't have asked for a better ending. If you have followed Molly since the beginning, you do not want to miss reading the conclusion of Molly the Maid.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC of a book by one of my favorite authors. This read was just ok for me. Too much back and forth between stories. I enjoyed her first two much better. Maybe a little “lighter” in story? Not sure why. Worth reading though.
