Book #3 in the Molly The Maid series finds Molly getting closer to having her dream life as she moves up the ladder at the Grand Hotel and is only two months away from her dream wedding. But trouble always seems to find Molly. This series has provided me with some very entertaining reading as I follow Molly through her ups and downs and around a circle no one wants to be on. But THE MAID'S SECRET gives us a look into Molly's family history and the surprises she finds waiting for her there. Nita Prose keeps the story fun and the mystery unique, what more could a mystery lover want?

Molly Gray and her friends and family we have grown to love return for another cozy mystery that delves into her beloved Grans life before she became a maid.

All Molly has known her whole life is that her Gran was a modest maid who enjoyed cups of tea and watching Columbo. She shared nuggets of knowledge for a simple life without all the frills and helped Molly navigate difficult social behaviors while growing up. Little does she know her Gran has been keeping a secret from her about a previous life, much more grand and complicated than she could ever imagine.

I enjoyed jumping back into life at the Regency Grand Hotel and seeing Molly thrive in her role as Head Maid and in her relationship with Juan Manuel. I’m glad we had a big return of Gran through her diary and life story but I felt this installment lacked the pizazz of the first two books in the series. The drama with the Fabregé egg felt forced especially the weird heist and then return off the egg and the revealed character connections in the end felt rushed and incomplete. Honestly what was the point of her long lost mother even appearing? Algernon’s death was honestly anticlimactic because he deserved way worse and for a mystery, why did we never truly find out what happened to Mrs. Mead like who really killed her and why. There’s a lot of vague innuendos that leaves the reader with more questions than actual closure. Grans story could’ve been a novella and I wanted more for Molly the Maid than a lackluster half mystery. 3/5 stars - one and done read.

The opinions expressed here are my own. Thank you to Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for providing an advanced readers copy.

I was so excited to read The Maid's Secret!

The Maid's Secret follows Molly and her husband Juan Manuel as they navigate finding out the worth of the Fabrege egg that came from Molly's Gran. Molly's Gran's diary helps Molly solve the mystery.

I have not yet read the other Molly the Maid books so there were a few things that I probably missed the background on, but I adored Molly and Juan, and also reading her Gran's story.

The characters were lovely and there were some sprinkles of dry humor mixed in throughout the cozy mystery.

I really enjoyed this third installment of the Molly the Maid cozy mysteries. It alternated between present day Molly and diary entries of her grandmother, Flora Gray, that explained her past. It was a good story and a quick and easy read. Thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC.

I’ve loved the maid stories but this one was a little slow for me. I am glad i didn’t give up because the last half picked up and it was a great addition to the series!

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the series on Molly the Maid. I love how the author perfectly includes her quirkiness. This book felt like a nice wrap off of the previous books. It was an easy read and I would recommend to anyone.

The Maid's Secret follows dual timelines and perspectives to wrap up the Molly the Maid series. You encounter a lot of the same characters working through another mystery, with flashbacks to Molly's grandmother, Flora's past. I liked learning the backstory - this is really intended for those who have read the series, it would be challenging to follow if not!

Thank you to Netgalley and to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for an ARC.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to preview The Maid's Secret by Nita Prose. I have enjoyed the previous entries in the Maid series, but this was an exception. Most everything that made Molly charming was missing from The Maid's Secret. It seemed that all of Molly's quirks were turned up so high that it infantilized her. Additionally, too much time was spent on her grandmother's story, which I didn't find very compelling.

I am sorry that the final installment in this series wasn't up to the standard of the others. I hope Nita Prose comes back with another entry in Molly's story more like the first book in there series to end on a high note.

I've enjoyed the first two books in this series, but was not as enthralled by this one. The story told by Molly's dead grandmother through her letters was melodramatic, and less interesting than Molly's own story and her character as it has developed over the series. I'll keep reading, if just to see how Molly and Juan's marriage works out!

Molly the Maid’s story concludes in The Maid’s Secret. In the final book, Nina Prose intertwines two stories. Molly and her grandmother’s diary entries are in the past, while the egg’s history unfolds in the present. A mystery arises at the Regency Grand hotel when the egg vanishes.

It’s an enjoyable book, but some parts excel over others.

Molly, I am so glad you are back! I have missed you. Molly, the maid, once again has pulled my heartstrings and won’t let go. Her direct, honest approach, big heart, and dedication to perfection are on full display in this entering, original, and emotional mystery. Stolen treasure, long-hidden secrets, and everlasting love dominate this touching and at times, heartbreaking tale. Molly is, as always a breath of fresh air as she embarks on a new beginning. The meticulous maid once again touches my heart as the mystery unfolds. Thank you, NetGalley and Ballantine Books for my copy. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

⭐⭐⭐
The third novel in the Molly the Maid series is another cozy mystery that focuses far more on Gran's life and backstory than the actual heist involving Molly. We resume the story with Molly and Juan Manuel taking one of Molly's treasures to be evaluated by a tv show auction house. All is going well until the treasure is stolen right as it was set to make Molly very wealthy. From there, we follow the investigation in the periphery, for most of the book is diary entries from Gran's youth.

Overall, I enjoyed learning about the mysterious Gran after 2 novels and a novella reading about how she didn't like to talk about her past. Her story was engaging. I would say, though, that if you are looking for a Molly-centered mystery, you aren't going to get much from this book. In fact, I'd say the mystery is hardly even present. Prose attempts to make it high stakes, but I don't think it pays off. Fans of the series will probably enjoy this. Readers could probably jump into having never read a previous Molly the Maid story, but I don't think they would find it very enjoyable. A solid continuation of the series if you're someone that likes Molly and a good cozy mystery.

I know that the new “format” this book offers in style compared to the others may throw some off- but it’s what I found most endearing. I cried, I laughed (as usual), I think this last one gave a good solid round up for this trilogy. Molly is still lovable, Juan is such a loving partner, and grandad and Nan shone through their past. Overall, completely enamored with this book and I’m so thankful to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I wish I could rate the first half of the book and the second half of the book. I love the characters, but the mystery didn't start until a third of the way of the book. The first third to half of the book was primarily focused on Molly's grandmother's story. While it was fun getting to know Molly's family history, her grandma's story was a little slow.

Once the mystery unfolded and Molly's grandma's story started to make connections, that's when I couldn't stop reading. The mystery was not necessarily the most sophisticated or exciting but the connections between the past and present made it intriguing.

For people who have enjoyed the series, this will definitely mean more to you as it brings in a history of the characters you love. For those who haven't read the first books, I would suggest starting from the beginning. I don't think this book would mean as much as a standalone.

It hurts me to write this, but I think my love of Molly the maid has come to an end. I loved all the prior books, but this one just didn’t work as well for me. I still enjoyed every part of Mollys story, but this one alternated between Molly and her grandmother. I just did not feel as connected to Grans story - in fact at times I disliked her. I think if the story had been all from Mollys perspective I would have enjoyed it more. All the other characters were there and great. I enjoyed the actual story line - it moved quickly and was fun. I just did not love the dual pov.

Thank you NetGalley for my advanced reader copies.

Molly the Maid is back for the third installment in the series. This version centers around an antiques roadshow like production that comes to be filmed at the hotel. I liked the idea but this storyline never grabbed me. I am disappointed since I loved the first book and liked the second, however I likely won't continue the series after this book 3.

This is a great addition to the series! I loved getting to know Molly’s gran and gran-dad especially the way the author did it interwoven with the current time. Well written and enjoyable! I not only recommend this book but the entire series!

4.5/5 stars

After falling in love with Molly Gray and her story in book one, I felt let down by book 2, and the Christmas book. This book definitely redeemed the series, but I loved Flora’s chapters in the story more than Molly’s. I found myself quickly reading the Molly chapters so I could return to Flora and her story.
