This book is told in dual timelines between present day Molly and Gran's diary about her life and upbringing. Some parts of Gran's diary made me wonder who it really was because it does not sound like the Gran we all know and love. Over the series I have grown to love Molly more and more. I did miss getting to see more of her in this book, but Gran's history was necessary for this book. The Bees, the antique auctioneers and TV hosts, were fun side characters. This is the perfect ending to the series, but I am sad we will not get to see more of Molly and the crew. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book.

I love this series and Nita's writing style. I really liked getting Gran's backstory this time around and a full understanding of their connection to Mr. Preston. This book was a touch mystery with a beautiful love story and lots of hope in humanity mixed in. I definitely would recommend this series and this book in particular.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the advanced reader copy!

This series has always offered a comforting return to the quirky charm of the Regency Grand Hotel, and The Maid’s Secret brings back familiar faces with a fresh mystery. While I didn’t find myself fully swept up in Molly’s current storyline this time, I was completely captivated by Gran’s diary entries. Her past was rich with emotion, forbidden love, and family secrets—and for me, those chapters were the highlight of the book.

The main plot involving a rare artifact and a high-profile heist had its fun moments, but I found myself craving more of the emotional depth found in the historical thread. Molly is still her lovable, literal self, but the pacing and stakes didn’t grip me quite as much as in previous installments.

I didn’t dislike the book—far from it. There’s a lot to appreciate here, especially for fans who’ve been following Molly’s journey. But cozy mysteries may not be the right fit for me long-term, and I think this might be my last visit to the Regency Grand.

That said, I’m still curious about Molly’s mother and the pieces of that relationship that remain a mystery. If future books explore that storyline, I just might check back in.

I have loved Molly the Maid since the very first book released. Nita Prose is so talented in bringing Molly and her friends to the page. It took me a few chapters to really get into this latest novel, but once I did, I didn't want to put it down. I loved reading about Gran's history, and I enjoyed the way Nita wove the past and present together, it was beautiful and I felt for Gran and Molly, whom I finally think got some well deserved closure about the woman who raised her. I did guess the mystery part of the novel, but I was really here for the love between Gran and Molly.

Molly and Juan are back and two months away from getting married. When her beloved Gran dies, she gives Molly a very important key. But what does it unlock? Molly continues her work at the hotel, and takes her yellow egg to be evaluated at a hotel event. Turns out it is a Faberge egg and Molly and Juan decide to auction it off. However, the egg is stolen! Who did it? This installment in the series alternates between present day and the missing egg to the past to reveal the story of gran. I enjoyed the book but felt it to be a bit slow in parts. Molly is a delightful character. Thanks to NetGalley for the arc,

Thank you Ballantine Books for the advanced reading copy!!

Another sweet edition to the series -- so sad to see it end, though I think this was a great farewell!

I have mixed feelings on this one overall. While I enjoyed hearing Gran's side of things and her life before Molly, I missed having more Molly! Molly has become such a loveable character, and I truly cherish the time I get to spend seeing the world through her eyes. I really appreciated the way that Gran's past intertwined with the present in this book, despite it taking a bit of time for me to get interested in her side of things. Luckily, that picked up while our present-tense mystery did, as well.

The mystery at hand was solid, with a few surprising twists. As always, this book was filled with some heartbreaking moments and heavy on the heartwarming, which I love. I do feel a bit robbed of a Molly-centered story, though I can understand how this one was a great round-out of the series as a whole. One things for sure -- I will greatly miss Molly the Maid!

Oh Molly! This series is one of my favorites. Molly is someone who you are drawn to throughout the series and this book is no exception. Molly makes you laugh and empathize with her. This author can honestly do no wrong and I’m so happy I got to read this last book in the series!

If it's not OK, it's not the end

Life is turning out quite nicely for quirky Molly Gray. Having long found satisfaction in her job as a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel, she is quite proud to now be both Head Maid and Special Events Manager for the hotel, positions for which her meticulous attention to detail and quest for perfection serve her well. She is engaged to Juan Manuel, who himself has risen from dishwasher to the level of pastry chef, and their marriage is set to take place in just a few weeks. But Molly seems to attract crime, and what should have been an exciting day at the Regency Grand will upend her life completely. She and Juan Manuel are committed viewers of the hit show about antiques, Hidden Treasures (think Antique Roadshow with a twist of QEFSG), and its two hosts Baxley Brown and Thomas Beagle (aka The Bees) have decided to tape an episode right there at the hotel. Employees are encouraged to bring items to be appraised, and Molly brings a shoebox full of her late Gran's treasures just for fun. Not only does Molly find out she has an actual treasure, but the video clip of her interaction with The Bees goes viral. Molly likes her anonymity far too much to enjoy becoming the latest viral meme star, even if it does mean that she might be a millionaire...and when her treasure goes missing in the middle of its auction, Molly and her friends are back in the detecting business. To discover who took the priceless artifact, she will need to learn more about her Gran's early life...but is someone out there willing to kill to keep their secrets?
Fans of the Molly the Maid series will be pleased to once again follow in the footsteps of the young woman who, though she sometimes has trouble deciphering the literal from the figurative, knows enough about the world and the people who inhabit it to determine who is a good egg and who is a bad one. The usual cast of characters....Juan Manuel, Molly's loving and nurturing fiancé; Angela, her best friend; Mr. Preston, the hotel's former doorman (and Molly's recently revealed grandfather); and Detective Stark (who for once doesn't think that Molly is the perpetrator)...join a host of new ones, including many from Gran's past. Molly discovers the truth of her Gran's background and in doing so learns how to hold on to what is truly valuable in life. Fans of the series will definitely enjoy reading her latest exploits (and learning about Gran's beginnings, her relationship with Mr. Preston and more), as will those who enjoy Anthony Horowitz, Richard Osman, and Elle Cosimano. Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group/Ballantine Books for allowing me access to this entertaining read with its endearing heroine in exchange for my honest review.

Molly will always have a place on my Bookshelf! In the third installment of the beloved Molly the Maid series, this book delivers a heartwarming and intriguing tale of love and mystery.
The story beautifully alternates between Present Day and Gran's Diary entries, uncovering secrets of the past that hold the key to solving a present-day theft.

The Maid's Secret - Nita Prose

With the help of her loyal friends, Molly dives into both timelines, piecing together clues to catch the thief. This charming blend of a whodunnit thriller and heartfelt narrative is sure to capture your attention and warm your heart. Molly brings love, friendship, and suspense... What's not to like

Wedding bells will finally ring for Molly, but first her hotel is hosting a television show , Hidden Treasures, where experts appraise the value of items brought in to the show. The hotel staff are invited to bring in their own “treasures” and Molly, and her fiancé, Juan Manuel are completely caught off guard when it turns out that one of Molly’s “treasures” is worth millions. Overnight, Molly becomes a viral sensation and her life quickly goes off the rails.

I love this book so much, and was sad to see it will be the last Molly book, however it ended beautifully.

The book alternates between chapters of the present and diary entries written by Gran, and these were honestly my favorite. It’s amazing how much character and life Nita Prose is able to put in to her characters.

This book is perfect for fiction fans of feel good books with a little bit of mystery thrown in.

I will miss Molly dearly, but I will always treasure these stories. There is nothing like a Molly the maid mystery novel, the kindness and honesty shown by Molly has warmed my heart over the years.

Thank you to the publisher, Nita Prose, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love Molly the maid and her crew! The author does a stunning job of helping us really see these characters and they are so consistent. This book took me a little longer to become fully engrossed, as it was a duel timeline between Molly and her Gran, Flora via her journal. So each story had to build but, in the end, you get two fully developed storylines that weave together.

First, there’s Molly with another mystery, this time involving a property crime and threats against Molly, herself. Here, we have the cast of characters we have grown to love such as Mr. Snow, Angela, and the team of maids, as well as, of course, Mr. Preston. Angela is featured more and there’s a new employee working the door who adds something fun and different. Molly is also planning her wedding and we have the backdrop of the hotel, almost a character in itself.

Then for the background is Flora’s story and a few new characters who featured in her late teen life-some become dear and others are clearly villains. Flora tells of the way she was raised and gets to tell a love story.

If you even liked the previous books a little, you will not want to miss this. Rarely do I think all installments of a series are five stars but this whole series is a delight.

This was my third Maid's book by Nita Prose and I enjoyed reading more about Molly, Juan and Gran.

Comfortable cozy quick read.

I don't think anyone was as excited to see that Molly was back more than me. I adored the first two books, and The Maid's Secret is my favorite. In this novel, Molly discovers that a Faberge Egg inherited from her devoted grandmother is worth big bucks. This sparks a famous dynamic duo who are hosts on a TV show much like Antique Roadhouse to contact Molly and ask her to be the focus of one of their episodes. The story leads Molly to read her grandmother's diary, which was my favorite part. I loved reading all about her lovely grandmother's life story. I finished the book with a tear and a smile.

Molly the Maid's adventures continue in this 3rd installment of "The Maid" series by Nita Prose. When an antique TV show decides to film in the hotel where Molly works as Head Maid and Events Coordinator, Molly looks through her grandma's old things to see if the show can find anything of value. Much to Molly's surprise, one of her trinkets is worth millions and her life changes overnight. From trending online to receiving death threats, Molly's life is about to change forever.

I LOVED the first book in this series with Molly being framed for murder due to her neurological differences and naiveté. Having her as a main character was such a diversion from the norm that it was easy to route for her. This story, however, felt forced and felt like an unnecessary sequel to Molly's story. She didn't need a love life and fiancee, a secret inheritance, or to go viral on TikTok. I loved her more when she was just a misunderstood, neurodiverse main character. This was a cute story but I feel like it took away from Molly the Maid.

*** I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. ***

The Maid's Secret is the third book in Nita Prose's heartwarming, funny and unique Molly the Maid mystery series. I missed book 2.5, unfortunately, but I've read all three full-length novels. I fell in love with Molly when the series started; I didn't think I could love her more, but I do! This book sounds like it could be the end, but I hope I'm mistaken. It would be a huge loss to no longer have Molly and friends to visit at the Regency Grand Hotel.

Molly has worked her way up from one of the maid staff to the exalted position of Head Maid, and she was just recently promoted to Special Events Manager of the Regency Grand Hotel. After the death of her beloved Gran, Molly is finally reaching the pinnacle of her life, as she is set to wed her beloved fiancé, Juan Manuel, in two months. Molly's life is thrown into chaos, however, when a film crew arrives at the hotel to film an episode of the hit reality TV show Hidden Treasures, which stars popular art appraisers Brown and Beagle. Molly decides to bring in a shoebox containing some of Gran's old things for appraisal; she certainly wasn't expecting one of the items to be a rare and priceless treasure! She is suddenly a multimillionaire and media sensation, but things really go downhill when her priceless treasure is stolen. The key to the mystery lies in the past, in a diary Gran wrote for Molly. Molly learns about Gran's secret past; she was the child of a wealthy magnate, and she fell in love with a young man who her parents felt was way below their station. The identity of Gran's love is one who Molly knows quite well. Molly joins forces with her friends to go through both the past and present to catch the thief before the death threats to Molly come true!

This series has become one of my all-time favorites. The mysteries are great - this one especially - but the main appeal is Molly. She was raised by Gran after Molly's mother, an addict, took off and left Molly with Gran. She would go with Gran to work cleaning houses of the rich, and Molly grew to be just like Gran. She takes great pride in her work, and as Gran told her growing up, "Deep cleaning gives life meaning." (In case you're wondering, that isn't my motto!) Molly worked her way up to Head Maid, of which she was immensely proud. Besides that role, she is now the Special Events Manager at the hotel, where events take place in the tea room. Molly is about to marry her dear Juan, and life is really coming together for her. Life, however, throws a spanner in the works once again for her! She becomes a multimillionaire, then is quickly once again rather poor after her treasure is stolen. I absolutely adore Molly. She takes everything literally, and can't imagine why people laugh at what she says. She is bolder now, however, after attaining her new positions. Molly's not the only star in this book, however; the other star is Gran. Though deceased, she is a huge part of this story. Chapters alternate between Gran's life and Molly's situation. Gran was rich and ended up losing everything and became a maid. She gave up her love so he would have a better life. Her strength was amazing; thank goodness she passed that on to her beloved granddaughter. I love what I call her "Gran-isms", such as "Do you need a tissue for your issue?" and "No point weeping when you could be sweeping." There are some other great characters, as well. You can help but adore Juan Manuel, the pastry chef Molly is marrying; he may actually be sweeter than his "marzipanimals"! Mr. Preston, the former doorman at the hotel, revealed to Molly just how connected to Gran he was. Molly's friend Angela, the bartender at the hotel is a hoot; she always make me laugh. Speedy, the new doorman who took Mr. Preston's position, has a way with words that totally flummoxes Molly. (I'm right there with you, sister!) Brown and Beagle, the married art appraisers and the stars of Hidden Treasures, added so much to this wonderful story. The mystery here, of course, was a pleasure. I was surprised at who the thief was. There was one surprise for me that I wasn't expecting: Gran's story had me bawling my eyes out! Just a wonderful story, and I truly hope there is more of Molly and Company.

I received an ARC of this book courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. I received no compensation for my review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Molly Gray is back—and better than ever. In The Maid’s Secret, Nita Prose delivers a sparkling third installment filled with heart, humor, and a healthy dose of intrigue. As Molly prepares for two major events—the filming of Hidden Treasures at the Regency Grand and her wedding to Juan Manuel—a stunning discovery in her grandmother’s old belongings sets off a chain of events no amount of maidly precision can prevent.

When an item appraised on the show is revealed to be a rare and valuable artifact, Molly becomes an overnight sensation. But just as quickly, her moment is stolen—literally. The artifact vanishes, and Molly is thrust into the middle of a bold art heist. To solve the case, she must turn to the past, diving into a forgotten diary filled with family secrets, forbidden romance, and revelations that could change everything she thought she knew about Gran—and herself.

As always, Molly’s voice is charming, earnest, and wholly unique. Her continued evolution from underestimated maid to confident investigator is a joy to follow. The mystery is well-constructed and satisfying, with a few clever twists and emotional depth that adds richness to the fast-paced plot.

Though a few slower sections in the middle kept it from being a full five stars for me, the ending more than made up for it. Prose strikes a lovely balance between cozy mystery and poignant family drama, and this novel feels like a true culmination of Molly’s journey so far.

Highly recommended for fans of the series—and anyone who enjoys their mysteries with a generous helping of heart.

Thank you to Ballantine Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy!
