I found this to be a decent read. I was curious the entire time and was looking forward to reading it when I was unable to. Definitely a solid read.

I wanted to love this as much as I love the first book in this series. But unfortunately I could not get into this. I did like the narrator, but I didn't like the story. I ended up DNFing this one.

Watch Your Back is a suspenseful and twisty domestic thriller. While the story had an interesting premise, I found myself struggling to connect with the narration at times, which impacted my overall enjoyment. Thank you to NetGalley and Recorded Books for the ARC. ⭐⭐⭐

Watch Your Back is a twisty domestic thriller with great multi-person narration. A newly married couple finds their marriage unraveling following a series of mysterious accidents.

This was an entertaining and interesting listen. I loved the multiple narrators and the setting.

I really struggled to get into this. It’s a solid story but the narration ruined it for me. I’ll probably go back and read it on my own in the future.

Terri Parlato’s Watch Your Back is a suspenseful and emotionally layered domestic thriller that grabs your attention from the first chapter and doesn’t let go. Set in a bleak Boston winter, the story follows psychiatrist Eve Thayer and her husband Nathan as their seemingly perfect life begins to unravel after a series of unsettling events—including a kidnapping, a break-in, and a string of deadly accidents.

Parlato builds tension through short, punchy chapters and multiple perspectives, especially those of Eve, Nathan, and Detective Rita Myers. The shifting viewpoints keep the narrative dynamic, allowing readers to piece together the mystery from different angles. The psychological depth of Eve’s character, combined with the eerie setting of her workplace (a former institution for the criminally insane), adds a haunting atmosphere that lingers.

While the plot occasionally veers into melodrama and some twists feel over-the-top, the pacing and emotional stakes make it a compelling read. Fans of domestic thrillers with complex characters and layered secrets will find plenty to enjoy here.

A solid, twisty thriller that’s perfect for a cold night in.

This was such a solid thriller! Great twists, it kept me on my toes, I thought I had something figured out but SIKE I didn’t! Loved the ending

Watch Your Back by Terri Parlato; not for me. I'm sure thriller readers will read this one, though, so I'm sure we'll buy a copy for the collection.

Watch your back is a domestic thriller that starts is very slow until the last 75%. I kept asking myself when the action was happening. Some elements were too predictable but at the same time I really enjoyed the final twist and the delivery of it.

The characters didn’t feel fleshed out because there were so many of them, I think the story would’ve benefitted from less characters and more time to develop them, maybe I’ve just read too many thrillers recently but I had to force myself through it.

Firstly, I didn't know that this was a series, BUT it's one of those series that just has a recurring character (the detective) in it, so it really wasn't necessary for the plot. I had no idea what this woman was doing in her personal life, but I din't care at that point anyway.

The story was just okay for me. The beginning was a little slow and I was antsy to see where the story was supposed to be going. Once we started getting places, it got to be a little over-the-top for my tastes. This will likely be enjoyable for a certain audience but this just wasn't my style when it comes down to it.

I did have a big issue with the ending. I thought we could have had some more connections earlier on to make things seem more realistic and worth it. It all felt a little shallow and hollow, like this just wasn't all making sense.

What a great revenge story. I had a feeling I knew who was behind it, but the reveal was way more than I anticipated! This was a great read!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc. Honestly, it's hard to get into the story and was slow to start at first but soon picked up. Some of the characters are meh and forgettable whilst others are ok and are somewhat relatable but overall this is not entirely bad. You just have to stick with it til the last page to really appreciate it. Audio narration is good.

Really enjoyed this one.
It is a series but I was able to read without feeling likeness missing something from not reading the others prior.
Loved that it went from the different characters point of views. The suspense was great and a good amount of surprises

Definitely a good read and will probably pick up others from this author

Psychiatrist Eve Thayer and her husband Nathan have seemingly the perfect life: a nice house, a beautiful baby girl, and a great caregiver so they both can work without worry. When a parent's worst nightmare happens, will Detective Rita Myers be able to put all of the puzzle pieces into place?

The audiobook is narrated by Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson. All three do an excellent job of bringing their respective characters to life. I particularly like how Rita Myers is presented, a no nonsense detective with an inquisitive mind. Though the book itself does drag a bit in the middle, the narrators are engaging enough to keep a listener's interest. I am not sure I would have finished if I read the book instead.

As much as I liked Rita, I really did not care for Eve. Nathan's flaws were obvious, with Eve's more carefully constructed. Her character development seemed more crafted and she did not feel as realistic as the other two. Though there was a surprise or two, the overall plot was telegraphed from the beginning. If this was the first book in a series, I would give the next one a try because of the strength of Rita's character.

Such a well written thriller, I don’t think there was a moment I wasn’t hooked. And I could kind of figure out the ending but not 100% so there was still some surprises, it also did take a while to work out the ending and it was overall a great mystery. The characters were so interesting and I can’t wait to re read this book!

Even though I had most of the mystery figured out about halfway through, it was still an enjoyable read. This mystery was put together well. The characters were narrated by 3 separate people so that enhanced the audiobook.

Thank you to @recordedbooks, @netgalley, & the author for the opportunity to read this #advancedlistenercopy in exchange for my #honestbookreview! This book is now available where books are sold.

This book kept me on my toes! It takes place at a psychiatric hospital and that adds a level of eeriness to the book that I enjoyed. It also rotates back and forth between the detective and the female psychiatrist which added another layer that I enjoyed. The end is a wild ride! I recommend for anyone looking for a fast paced mystery!

This listen kinda felt like a Lifetime movie in my opinion. I didn’t love this but I also didn’t hate this; at times it dragged and at others it moved at a normal pace. The reveal of who was the perpetrator was the best part of this book to me; I did kinda predict it at one point because it felt like a stereotypical storyline, but added motive sorta made up for that. This is a part of an anthology series, but I doubt you absolutely have to read the first two before reading this. Currently I’m on the fence about reading the first two books. If you’re a fan of Lifetime this might be for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for an audio ARC of this book.

I jumped into this series with this book, and perhaps that was not the best idea. I felt a little lost and like I was missing some key development with the main characters. In any case, it was an ok read, but not that memorable. I was interested in the premise, and it delivered with pretty good twists. I did find that I as a reader lacked connection to any of the main characters.

I enjoyed the three different narrators and their performances. They did an excellent job!
