ARC review - thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this copy!
To be honest I felt like DNFing this in the first few chapters but I’m glad I pulled through because it turned out quite interesting.
It’s definitely not the best book I’ve ever read but it was entertaining.
The beginning was pretty confusing because of all the different POVs but I got used to it. One thing that truly threw me off was how abruptly the chapters always ended idk why.
The story itself was engaging and the characters interesting. I like Rita the most and found the couple a bit annoying at times.
The entire reason all of this even happened fell a bit flat to me. It felt a bit unnecessary that the villain in this story went to such great lengths for their initial reason.
All in all it’s a decent thriller.

Watch Your Back by Terri Parlato was a 5 star mystery book. The narration by Nick Mills; Christina Moore; Rebecca Quinn Robertson kept me engaged. It was very clear which character was speaking and they truly kept it exciting with their excellent story telling.
Characters Eve and Nathan find themselves in the middle of real life marriage struggles until the unthinkable happens and then their lives spiral out of control. Are they out to get each other or is someone else out to get them. This book will keep you guessing as the story unfolds. Everyone is not who they seem leaving you wonder who can be trusted!
If you are a fan of mystery books with lots of twists and turns this book is for you. Zero spice, lots of interesting characters and enough twists to leave you second guessing yourself just when you think you have it figured out.
Thank you RBmedia for the opportunity to read and review this book. I look forward to other books by Terri Parlato as well as the great cast of narrators.

They had three narrators and they were outstanding. I stayed engaged through the whole book and enjoyed the detailed descriptions and changing voices helped me keep track of the characters.
It was a unique story line. There were several believable suspects. I thought I knew who it was but I did not guess the depth of it. Believable, twisted ending.
This is a personal opinion. I wasn’t interested in the side story of the detective. I wanted the story to focus on the littles. I kept getting the detectives brother and boyfriend confused. But that happens when I listen to the names instead of reading them. I can only keep track of around 5 names when listening.
I received this galley from NetGalley.

Watch your back is an emotional roller coaster. There are so many secrets, that lead to so many tragedies

I loved everything about Watch Your Back. I never figured out who the bad guys were, and I often do. Great book with great characters and a great plot.

This was an exciting and tense thriller to listen to! All is not well between Nathan and Eve but the stakes are raised when their daughter Rosewyn is seemingingly taken one day while she is is being taken care of by Barbara (an older lady who has taken care of other children but has secrets of her own). This was an easy book to get sucked in as more and more things go wrong, secrets are revealed, and accidents, thefts, and even a murder happens. By the time everything was going on, the only person I trusted was Rosewyn! This thriller has all the good points, from Eve being a doctor at a psychiatric hospital, an ice storm during which an outage occurs, to creepy messages being left on a doll covered in blood. Very exciting and suspenseful and I enjoyed all of it!
The three narrators did a great job in bringing the characters to life and it was easy to tell between them as well. I am very happy I got the chance to listen to this great story. Be warned, it is hard to put down cause you will be wondering what else is going to happen and whether the detective Rita will be able to solve it before more people end up dead or injured!

Fast paced and sucks you in right from the beginning!
I wish there was a 3.5 because that seems more fitting. I absolutely flew through this book and every character had the perfect amount of development needed for the story to be fulfilling. Just enough characters to fill the story, but not too many for it to be difficult to keep track of. It worked SO well for everything to come together in the end.
The narrator's voice of Eve was not my favorite; the voice was very monotone and not what I was hoping. But the other characters were perfect!

Thanks Netgalley for my copy.
This was okay.
Some thing(s) I liked:
✅Glad the baby was found safe and sound.
✅Glad the husband was hit over the head and blinded by the woman he cheated with. Shame he didn't die though.
Some thing(s) not so much:
⭕It wasn't clear how much police procedure was involved from the descript and honestly, every time it was Rita's POV, I almost fell asleep. It was so boring. So so very truly boring. Ugh. I can't stand police procedure.
⭕All the millions of things that tie into one perfectly neat gift wrapped little bundle at the end was just a little too unbelievable.
⭕Can't stand it when stupid bimbos forgive their husband for cheating on them. He won't change dear... They never do.

The opening is about the only thing that feels suspenseful. I suspected the “bad guy” pretty early and the reason was flimsy. The detective is bland and I don’t think that this series is one I’ll check out. This can be read as a stand alone.

3.5 stars rounded up
It took a bit for this book to get going. You are reading from 3 points of view. Eve, the detective, and her husband. I enjoyed hearing everyone’s perspective as it allowed you to see the story from all angles.
I never would have guessed who it was who kidnapped Eve’s baby and her harasser. I also felt the connection this person had to other suspects was a bit odd. The red herrings in this book were great! They did truly keep you guessing!
The narrators were all great, and easy to understand. I listened at 1.75x, and it was the perfect speed. I could have upped the speed for Eve’s narrator a bit, but I was able to get through it.
All in all, a decently entertaining audiobook!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was a great book. The back and forth points of view took a bit of getting used to but once I caught on I really liked it. Lots of secrets, domestic suspense and some police procedural. Great narration and well written.

Very suspenseful with many twists and turns keeping the reader interested to the very end. Kept me wanting more and trying to figure out the end!

Psychiatrist Eve Thayer often tells her patients that accidents are just part of life, no matter how careful you try to be. Sometimes, those accidents can lead to unexpected blessings—like when she met her husband, Nathan, at his auto shop after a reckless driver forced her off the road. They’ve built a life together that’s pretty much what they dreamed of, but something feels off. The pressure in Eve’s life is piling up, both at work and at home. Even though her clinic has been revamped from its dark past as a place for the criminally insane, she can’t shake the feeling of discomfort there. Plus, a recent break-in at a vacant house nearby hasn’t helped her peace of mind. Detective Rita Myers is on the case, trying to figure out if Eve is in danger or if she’s somehow involved, and every unsettling event in their usually quiet neighborhood seems to point back to her. When a fierce ice storm hits, it becomes clear that Eve and Nathan’s lives are far from perfect, revealing the hidden secrets lurking just beneath the surface.

I have to admit, I didn’t know this audiobook was part of a series, but I never felt lost while listening. It’s told from three viewpoints: the wife, the husband, and the detective, Rita. The start is a little slow, but as it progresses, you really get hooked. The ending has some amazing twists that will make you go, “What?!”. I found the mix of police investigation work and psychological suspense super enjoyable while I was figuring out who the mystery person was. As for the narrators, Nick Mills, Christina Moore, and Rebecca Quinn Robertson, did an awesome job bringing the characters to life and cranking up the suspense! I would totally recommend it.
Thank You @netgalley and @ RBmedia for allowing me to review this audiobook.

I love every single one of the narrators. They were flawless! This story was so weird. I hated Nathan at first for being a whiny cheater, but he grew on me just a little as time went on. I loved Detective Myers. She was so interesting. I felt for Eve. She is so misunderstood for much of the book. Loved the whole book.

In the midst of a harsh Boston winter, a newly married couple's relationship starts to unravel after a series of deadly accidents. Eve Thayer, a psychiatrist, and her husband Nathan are facing mounting stress in their personal and professional lives. As their peaceful neighborhood is disrupted by unsettling events, Detective Rita Myers is trying to figure out if Eve is a target or a suspect. A deadly ice storm reveals the dark secrets lurking beneath the surface of Eve and Nathan's seemingly perfect life.
I understand that this book has received mixed reviews, but I consider myself fortunate to have received the audiobook for review. I believe that some books may be more enjoyable as audiobooks, so if you didn't connect with it in written form, I encourage you to give the audiobook a chance. I always make it a point to support my local library or small bookshop, as I appreciate the effort authors put into writing, especially in challenging times, to satisfy our reading cravings.
From the moment I started listening to this audiobook, I was captivated. The narrators did an exceptional job of keeping me engaged and fully immersed in the story. I have a great appreciation for narrators who can breathe life into a story and match the energy of each character. Often, while reading a book, I wonder how it would sound as an audiobook, and the choice of narrators for this one was spot on!
The characters in the book had secrets and a sinister aura about them. With multiple points of view from Eve, Nathan, and Rita, some clues were revealed early on. The main twist took me by surprise, and the suspense kept me on edge, making it difficult to hit pause when necessary. Despite the changing pace, the book was well-written, and the ending felt satisfyingly strong.
I was unaware that this book was part of a series, and I wish it had been better advertised online so I could have caught up on previous installments for a more complete experience. However, this book stands well on its own, as it didn't feel like I missed out on any character development. Still, I am considering going back to read the previous books.
If you enjoy a fast-paced whodunit with police procedural elements and domestic drama, this book is a perfect fit for you. If you find that the book isn't resonating with you, I recommend giving the audiobook a try. I hope this well-crafted, suspenseful book will earn a spot on your TBR list!
Thank you, RBmedia | Recorded Books, for the audio ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Really good book! I never expected the twists of all the connections with the characters. I'm a big fan of multiple POVs within the book so it was really fun to hear from all the characters. I will definitely be recommending this book to others!

Watch your back is the perfect story if you love great twists, this book hits all the marks.
It is a story about a psychiatrist, her loving husband and their beautiful baby girl. No marriage is perfect, she works long hours with difficult patients, she is a new mother with a baby that needs her. Her husband is trying his best to work, and help care for their daughter, he loves being a father but often gets lonely.
You never know who you can trust, sometimes people can never let go of the past and revenge is their driving force. Unless you watch your back, you won't see what is coming!

A wild ride of anticipation and unpredictable twists. This story will keep you guessing till the very end. The high stakes twists and turns, majorly borderlining nail biting suspense and thrills kept me the edge of my seat. Each character felt like hiding an ulterior motive.
Gripping and genuinely enthralling! Unputdownlable.

A well-paced police procedural and domestic thriller with engaging characters told through multiple perspectives. Officer Rita Meyers is solving the latest crime involving a kidnapping of a baby. The mother, a successful and burned out psychiatrist named Eve, fights her own demons as well as her marriage. Eve’s husband, Nathan, is involved in adultery when feeling isolated from Eve’s extensive work hours. When the baby is found with a note advising Nathan’s misdoings, multiple suspects become entangled in the baby’s disappearance. Is it one of Eve’s patients? The babysitter? Nathan’s mistress?
I enjoyed the narration. The characters were written well. However, Eve’s professionalism is questionable with her absent self-care and giving hugs to patients. Eve sounds chronically anhedonic (even before the kidnapping), and it wouldn’t be wise to see patients under her condition. Plotwise, I thought there were a few clever twists, with all suspects acting suspiciously. However, the ending felt a little stretched out, and the suspect’s motive felt a bit unbelievable. I suppose it didn’t help that I couldn’t connect to any maternal instincts, so this may have been more suspenseful for other readers. There was some wholesomeness of character interactions which I enjoyed, but for the most part I found this read okay, but a little drab.
Thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for this free arc in exchange for an honest review.

The narrators were fantastic and they all brought their characters and the book to life. It was a well published audiobook. However I just couldn’t get into it and found myself checking to see how much longer was left multiple times throughout.
